Amazing stay at windy waves. Although it was low season so the sea was a bit rough and not as blue as it would be in high season the resort was still amazing. We stayed in a basic room with shared bathroom and outdoor shower which was a dream. Only downside was no air conditioning just a fan. The staff here were wonderful, so friendly. And the food at the restaurant was also 10/10.

Hier kann man die Seele baumeln lassen. Tolle Lage direkt am Strand. Die Häuschen sind sauber, mit vielen Ablagemöglichkeiten. Die Betten sind bequem mit passendem Moskitonetz. Die Outdoor-Dusche und WC sind Klasse. Tierischer Besuch lässt sich dadurch nicht vermeiden. Das Resort bietet vielfältige Sitz- und Liegemöglichkeiten, auch im Schatten. Das Essen ist hervorragend. Auch das Frühstück war lecker und abwechslungsreich. Danke an das Team um Kevin und Madu, die uns einen schönen Aufenthalt ermöglicht haben. Empfehlung für Kalpitiya.

Die endlosen Strände der Halbinsel haben leider ein großes Müllproblem. Der Resortabschnitt ansich ist sauber, dennoch ist das Problem außerhalb des Resorts allgegenwärtig.

We loved our little bamboo hut, just a few metres from the crashing waves. The thoughtful details were also great. For example the tap outside the front of the cabin for foot washing, was a conch shell as were the other taps in the resort. There was also a broom in the room to expel any stray sand and the outdoor bathroom was delightful. The beachfront restaurant/bar was so nice with excellent food and a great selection o music to create the ambience. The staff too were lovely and really helpful.

Wir haben uns von Anfang an sehr wohl in der Unterkunft gefühlt. Es war unser erster und auch schönster Aufenthalt in Sri Lanka. Die Anlage ist wunderschön, direkt am Strand. Das Personal ist unglaublich freundlich und zuvorkommend und familiär. Das Frühstück war so vielfältig mit richtig gutem Kaffee. Das Abendessen in dem Restaurant war ebenfalls sehr gut, mit frischem leckeren Fisch. Am Nachmittag war es so entspannend auf den Liegen zu liegen, aufs Meer zu schauen und der Musik zu lauschen. Die Unterkunft hat eine eigene Kiteschule mit richtig guten Kitelehrern. Wir würden auf jeden Fall wiederkommen und können die Unterkunft auf jeden Fall empfehlen.

Best location in Kalpitiya. Great food and service. We upgraded to a sea view room which was excellent. This is definitely the best place to stay for swimming, relaxing as it has a great vibe.

We really enjoyed our stay at this resort. The location is beautiful, and the beachfront rooms offer amazing ocean views. I especially loved spending time on the beach. The resort's beachfront restaurant was wonderful, and we had a memorable candlelight dinner there. The seafood platter was delicious, and we truly enjoyed the entire dining experience. The complimentary breakfast was also excellent. The staff were very friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help. My favorite part of the resort was the traditional palm and coconut leaf houses. They have a unique charm, stay naturally cool, and give a peaceful feeling. Most of the traditional rooms also have their own private garden, which provides extra privacy and makes the stay even more relaxing. The resort has plenty of open space for families and children to play, and everything was neat, clean, and well maintained. One small suggestion would be to provide a stand fan in every room. It would be very helpful, especially because the mosquito net fully covers the bed and Kalpitiya can be quite hot. Overall, it's a wonderful family-friendly resort, and I would definitely love to visit again.

If there is one stand fan in every room, it would be much better. We can use it whenever we need it. One fan is not enough because the mosquito net completely covers the bed, and Kalpitiya has very hot weather. I also really love the old-style houses made with coconut palm leaves. Please don't replace all of them with modern rooms. The traditional palm-leaf cabanas are naturally cool and have a special charm. We don't see many of these houses in Sri Lanka anymore, so it's really amazing to experience them at a windy beach resort. I know you're building new luxury Cabanas, and they look beautiful. But personally, I prefer the traditional coconut palm-leaf houses. They feel more natural, peaceful, and unique.

Staff are super friendly, accommodating and attentive - happy to arrange anything you may need. The food was amazing, fantastic breakfasts and dinners with gorgeous sunset views right on the water front. Kite instructors were so helpful and took us to some really cool spots too! Overall the vibes are just so relaxed and we were so sad to leave!

Première expérience au Sri lanka pour notre famille. Celle-ci fut parfaite. Accueil incroyable. Nourriture très bonne. Les logements et l espace restaurant sont construits en matériaux naturels et de façon traditionnelle. C est sympa. Les logements donnant sur le jardin offre une bonne intimité avec un principe de labyrinthe très original. Il me semble que les prix sont tout à fait corrects.Par comparaison nous avons été boire un jus au KSL et les prix étaient 2 fois plus élevés. Bref, merci à Madu et à son équipe.

Un peu dérangé par le bruit (des chiens qui aboient, une moto qui passe, de ma musique) la nuit mais cela ne dure pas en général. Je ne pense pas que ce soit très différent ailleurs. Rien d' insupportable.

Die Hütten sind sauber und sehr schön gestaltet. Mit Ventilator und Mückennetz um das Bett herum. Das Bad ist vollständig im Freien und bietet daher ein besonderes Erlebnis. Das Resort und insbesondere das Restaurant sind direkt am Strand. Hier kann man schöne Sonnenuntergänge über dem Meer erleben. Frühstück mit frischem Obst, typisch Sri Lanka und / oder Toast und Eier, sehr lecker. Wir haben den Kiteservice zur Lagune genutzt mit eigenem Equipment. Die Jungs der Kiteschule sind top. Als Instructor, Tippgeber, Rescue, helfen beim Auf- und Abbau, starten, landen. Kitesafaris sind auch überaus empfehlenswert. Alles in allem ein mega schöner entspannter Urlaub. Wir kommen sicher wieder.

We loved our stay at Windy Waves. It was the perfect conclusion to travelling the country for three months: great bungalow right on the beach with comfy outdoor seating, very nice restaurant, staff was friendly and attentive.

While our bungalow, number 20, had the best view and was closest to the beach, it was also close to some local life. This meant loud voices when they went our fishing early in the morning or in the evening. We rise early and did not mind. But it also took some taking used to when you were standing in the open-air shower. The open-air bathroom is beautiful, but when it rains heavily a bathroom visit or brushing your teeth is not ideal - the roof covering toilet and sink should be enlarged a bit. And finally, access to the bed is very narrow from one side. All these things were minor inconveniences and did not mar our overall positive impression.

We stayed at windy waves for 5 nights originally, but we enjoyed the place so much that we extended 3 nights. The room was so with the exterior bathroom. We had our own private chalet only a few meters from the beach and the windy waves restaurant. The staff was so nice, I recommend contacting Madu who is the one that took the most care of us, organising tours, making sure we had everything, the best !

The bed was slightly hard, but we did sleep well. In the end we liked it so much, the little details did not really matter.

Für mich wurde der Ort zu einem ganz wunderbaren Zuhause, 4 Wochen habe ich dort verbracht und mit all den tollen Menschen abgehangen. Wunderbares Team, super Vibes, köstliche Küche und der Blick auf den Ozean.

Lage direkt am Strand. Beachbar gehört zum Resort. Schöne Liegeflächen.

Wir hatten die Budget Zimmer gebucht. Nachdem keine Klima und kein Fenster im Zimmer waren und somit eine starke Hitze und ein gewöhnungsbedürftiger Geruch, wollten wir auf eine Hütte upgraden. Laut Booking waren mehrere verfügbar und buchbar. Es wurde uns aber gesagt, dass alles ausgebucht sei außer die ganz teuren Hütten am Strand. Wir haben die App vorgezeigt und die freien Hütten. Wir durften nicht umziehen. Neu buchen wollten wir nicht, da wir nur die Differenz zum Upgrade zahlen wollten und nicht nochmal alles. Deshalb haben wir uns eine günstigere Unterkunft in der Nähe mit Klima und Fenster gesucht. Das Personal im Restaurant hat leider unsere Bestellungen oft falsch aufgenommen oder nicht weitergegeben. Es saßen täglich 5-6 Angestellte herum und haben Handy gespielt. Da wir meist die einzigen Gäste waren, war es nicht verständlich warum wir kaum bedient wurden und alles sehr lange gedauert hat oder gar nicht gekommen ist.

Top ervaring bij Windy Waves! De locatie is perfect aan het strand, er is een heerlijke bar / keuken waar je van kan genieten. De hut was super mooi ingericht en heel proper. De kite service was ook geweldig, we werden opgehaald en gebracht naar de kite plek! Zeker een aanrader

Das Resort befindet sich direkt am Strand in wunderschöner Lage. Die Hütten waren sehr schön, gut ausgestattet und sauber. Besonders gefallen hat uns das Badezimmer im Freien. Im dazugehörigen Restaurant bekamen wir ein leckeres Frühstück und Abendessen. Auch kann man von dort aus bei einem Cocktail den Sonnenuntergang beobachten. Das Personal war besonders nett, hilfsbereit und zurückhaltend. Ein genialer Ort zum Entspannen.

Loved our stay! The staff are wonderful. It’s a peaceful, lovely environment that feels like you’re in nature. Great food. So relaxing hanging out at the beach restaurant all day. We did a dolphin watching trip which was just incredible!

The bathroom is outdoors which wasn’t a problem but the shower was a hose pipe with just a trickle of tepid water coming out.

L’endroit est superbe on a littéralement les pieds dans le sable / dans l’eau. Les cabanes sont charmantes avec leurs salles de bains extérieures. Lits confortables et ventilateurs suffisants pour rafraîchir la nuit. Personnel adorable qui nous a aidé dans l’organisation de déplacements (voitures et tuktuk) et des activités (excursion dauphins qui était parfaite). Resort à quelques kilomètres du village de Kalpitiya, prévoir scooters ou tuktuk pour se déplacer. Restaurant satisfaisant

Fantastisk ophold helt nede på stranden med de flotteste solnedgange 🌞 Sødt personale der er meget hjælpsomt og ordnede vasketøj + arrangerede delfinsafari for os (kæmpe anbefaling!! - lille båd med maks 6 personer, og vi så hundredvis af delfiner)

Prachtige locatie direct aan het strand. Ontbijt elke ochtend was heerlijk. En het personeel was super. Zeker aan aanrader.

The place was good and the staff were very friendly. Unfortunately, on the day we arrived, it rained after a long time, and the roof of our cabana started leaking. The staff mentioned they couldn’t identify the issue earlier due to the long dry period. However, they handled the situation well by offering us an alternative resort and refunding the payment. Therefore, we can’t say much about the overall stay, but we appreciate their support and service

Tout ! Le gentillesse du personnel et la localisation parfaite pour nous! A 5min de notre spot de Kite préféré (Plage de KSL) et proche de plein de petits restos sympas ! Nous avions une chambre supérieur avec salle de bain à l’extérieur et c’était vraiment génial ! Le resto est un peu plus cher qu’ailleurs mais on y mange super bien. J’aurai aimé y resté plus longtemps ! Ps: Et c’est le seul hôtel où on ne nous a pas mis la pression pour mettre un commentaire positif

Pretty far away from everything, but If you go here for kitesurfing, diving or just chilling at the beach, it's the perfect spot!

Alle sind sehr freundlich. Es gab lecker Frühstück. Die Hüttchen mit Außenbad sind toll. Ruhige Lage, schöner Strand.

Klimaanlage und Kühlschrank haben wir vermisst. Dem netten Personal fehlt oft die Umsichtigkeit.

Een heerlijke relaxte plek aan de zee met leuke huisjes en een buitendouche. Er hangt een leuke sfeer op het resort en het heeft een mooie styling. Zoals schelpen die als kraan dienen en leuke details die ze zelf maken. Het ontbijt is uitgebreid en heerlijk met vers fruit erbij. Je kan er heerlijk eten voor zeer goede prijzen. We hebben genoten bij de Windy Waves.

Мы жили в Windy waves в "соломенных " домиках , прямо на берегу океана, очень понравилось, шум моря, приятный персонал, отличная кухня От отеля на машине в кузове возили инструктора на лагуну, у нас было свое оборудование и у них в прокат не брали, но они все равно помогали стартовать, садить, помогли отлично с ремонтом кайтов, всегда веселые, приветливые, обед могли привести, с собой холодное пиво, напитки. Обратно к отелю сопровождал один- два инструктора по морю на кайтах. Отдых очень понравился, ветер подвел только в один день из 14. Катали 90% на 12м Были в blue waves на ужине, основательный отель из камня, но был совсем незаселен. Формат нашего отеля больше понравился и он прямо на океане, завтракаешь и ужинаешь, глядя на волны. Пляж чистый, купаться приятно на волнах Несколько раз стартовали на кайтах прямо от отеля. Всему персоналу, отелю, морю , классным инструкторам большой привет. Очень хочется вернуться!

Heerlijk en gezellig plekje aan het strand. Goed eten en goed ontbijt. Ze verzorgen ook het kitesurfen (kitesurflessen en verhuur kitesurfspullen) voor een redelijke prijs. Ze brengen je naar de lagoon waar je een hele of halve dag kunt spenderen. Verder is het in de avond ook gezellig.

This is the most relaxing place possible to end (or start) your holidays. Lots of privacy, cute and spacious cabanas with an open shower and toilet, and a lovely restaurant with cery tasty food, right at the beach. Personnel speaks English well and is really helpful.

The place is well maintained and has a lovely beach-surf atmosphere, located practically on the beach. The restaurant was quite good, and the staff were friendly and helpful.

We stayed outside the main season and the weather wasn’t great, which may have influenced our impression, but there is very little tourist infrastructure in the area and our place was practically the only one open – everything around it looked closed and deserted.

Wspaniale miejsce! Domki naturalne, moskitiery nad łóżkami, wiatrak nad głowa. Personel przemiły i pomocny. Cudowna restauracja. Jedzenie świeże, pyszne curry i owoce morza. Śniadanie przepyszne. Kompleks spokojny, nastrojowy z pięknymi widokami. Mam nadzieje ze wrócimy!

Es war einfach nur super!!! Tolle Menschen und tolles Hotel. Ein so guter Ort um zu entspannen und sich wie zu Hause zu fühlen. Madu ist ein super Organisator und hat uns viele Dinge gezeigt. Auch Suchi war ein super Kite Lehrer. Das Essen war auch sehr sehr lecker! Danke für alles!!!!

The coast is eroding around this area the beach isn’t really existing there. So although the property is on the corner of the coast it’s not actually on a beach. Beaches are very close so not an issue but just for expectations.

Einfache und außergewöhnliche Unterkunft mit Charme. Die Anlage ist sehr gepflegt und das Personal ist überaus freundlich und hilfsbereit. Tolle Lage auch für „Nicht-Kiter“ und das Angebot für Dolphin Watching war ein voller Erfolg. Der Kochkurs war ein tolles Erlebnis.

Leider hatten wir aufgrund des Regens viele Moskitos.

Alles war absolut fantastisch. Das Essen, der Beach-Bungalow und die Lage waren toll. Ich kann diese Unterkunft nur weiterempfehlen. Zum relaxen absolut perfekt. Der Strandabschnitt direkt vor der Unterkunft ist sauber und naturbelassen. Man fühlt sich als wäre man auf den Malediven. Das Personal ist sehr zuvorkommend.

Die Handtücher könnten vllt. bei längerem Aufenthalt zwischendurch gewechselt werden. Sonst nichts!

Lovely huts comfortable friendly staff

Windy waves Kite Beach is een mooi aangelegd resort. Als je er binnenkomt lijkt het een soort doolhof. Maar het is werkelijk prachtig aangelegd. Overal zie je vrijstaande huisjes omringd en afgescheiden door een leuk rieten hek. het ziet er erg mooi uit. Het zand is allemaal netjes aangeveegd. Ons huisje was niet aan zee, je moet ca. 2 min lopen nar het strand en de zee. Door de ingang kom je in de "voortuin, daar is een buitenkraan in de vorm van een schelp om je voeten af te spoelen. Dan heb je een kleine veranda met betonnen banken waarop je kunt zitten, relaxen. Als je het huisje binnengaat kom je in de ruime, moderne slaapkamer, goed bed. Met ventilator. En er zijn koffie- en thee faciliteiten. De badkamer is gedeeltelijk overdekt, met wc, wastafel, douche vastgemaakt aan een palmboom. Met een hendel open je de toevoer van het douchewater, komt door een schelp naar buiten. Fantastisch om te zien, het werkt prima. Onze koelkast spullen konden we kwijt in de koelkast van het restaurant. Tijdens de prachtige zonsondergang, ca. 18.00 uur, hebben we genoten van een heerlijk diner, de chef van het restaurant heeft speciaal voor mij een knoflookvrije vis gegrilled. Heerlijk. De man van het personeel bij onze aankomst was een beetje rommelig. We zouden een welkomstdrankje krijgen, maar dat lukte even niet. De jongedame die het overnam lukte het ook niet. Ik vroeg om gewone thee, dat was wrs een probleem. Want na vragen kreeg ik hun ice tea. Helaas hou ik daar niet van. Ik vroeg of er een wasmachine was. Ja, ze hebben een wasservice. Ook het ontbijt was heerlijk.

Ik had verwacht dat het huisje iets dichter bij zee zou liggen, we moesten ca. 2 min. lopen. Was prima te doen. Toen ik met de was liep voor de wasmachine bleek dat ze zelf de was naar de laundry brengen, dan kon ik mijn was de volgende ochtend ophalen. Dat was helaas geen optie, dus moest ik de was zelf met de hand wassen. Buiten op de veranda staan harde betonnen banken, zien er leuk hard. Maar zitten erg hard, ondanks dun kussen. Er is nauwelijks schaduw op de veranda, de zon schijnt er ongenadig in. We hebben er rieten matjes voor gehangen. Het personeel in de keuken van het restaurant moet in een vreselijke hitte werken, geen airco, geen ventilator. Echt afschuwelijk. Oh ja het stand van het resort wordt netjes aangeveegd, maar alle troep wordt naar een halve meter buiten de grens geveegd: blaadjes, takjes, papier, plastic. Jammer. Ik zou zeggen scheiden dat afval en plastic laten verbranden door professioneel bedrijf.

Het personeel is super behulpzaam en heel attent! Het ligt heel mooi aan het strand waar je ook lekker kan eten. Via het resort hebben we kite lessen en een safari naar Wilpattu geboekt. Alles is super makkelijk te regelen. Aanrader!!

El personal, muy amable, pero un desastre, perdimos un día a la espera de una excursión por el manglar que luego no era ni lo contratado ni al precio convenido, otra que nunca llego y la información del entorno deplorable, creo que hay sitios mejores por la zona por el precio que tiene

Ligging, rust en fantasievolle en verzorgde huisjes

Alles! Sehr schön gelegenes Hotel direkt am Meer, wo es sich zum Entspannen mit einem leckeren Cocktail sehr gut genießen lässt. Auch zum Schwimmen sehr gut an diesem Strand Abschnitt. Das Personal war mehr als freundlich, sehr zuvorkommend. Das Bungalow war super ausgestattet und sauber, sogar Infekten Spray, Netze um das Bett etc. Wir haben leider nur eine Nacht hier verbracht, wären gerne länger geblieben. Das Abendessen im eigenen Restaurant war ein Traum! Rice und Curry ist sehr zu empfehlen. Auch das Frühstück hat uns begeistert. Genug Auswahl und typisch für Sri Lankas Frühstück. Vielen Dank!

Het huisje was super leuk en mooi. Buiten was de badkamer. Af en toe zag je een gekko in de kamer, daar moet je wel tegen kunnen. Het eten was heerlijk, de mensen super lief. We hebben een fijne tijd gehad.

Wij sliepen in een hutje aan het strand dat was voorzien van alle basis behoefte en schoon. Een grote goede ventilator boven het bed en het bed was voorzien van een goede hor. Het personeel is ontzettend aardig, behulpzaam en beleefd. Alles werd geregeld zoals bijvoorbeeld een taxi naar de volgende bestemming. Of mocht je zin hebben in een massage of gym helpen ze je zoeken. Wij kunnen van het menu Sri Lankaanse curry erg aanraden! De zonsondergang bij het eten aan het strand maakte het compleet.
