There weren't pegs for hanging wet clothing outside, after a rainy days hiking

It was such beautiful old lodge with awesome history to read about how it began as a humble home and to how it became what it is now.. The spa and hammocks were beautiful and the complimentary kayaks/paddle boards free to use were so much fun You can explore the bay or past the boyes to your hearts content. I was upgraded to a Endeavor Suite for free which was absolutely incredible after walking along the Queen Charlotte Trail. I really really loved my entire experience along the Queen Charlotte Trail with the food, the people and Great places to stay..
Honestly I can't think of anything I disliked about it..the experience was amazing.

Reviewed Jan 12, 2025We stayed in a Cooks Cottage. Gorgeous rooms. Friendly staff, we arrived early for check in due to changes in plans and our room was available quickly. Such a relaxing atmosphere. Love the bar and restaurant on site. Food was great. My toddler loved exploring the foreshore. Couldn’t fault it. Everything was really well organised.

Reviewed Dec 28, 2024We absolutely loved our stay! Once we figured out the transportation to get to the lodge, everything was easy and well organized. It’s a fabulous place to be both active and relax: it’s right on the Queen Charlotte Track, we borrowed the kayaks, and we swam in the water. We also enjoyed sitting in the hammocks and relaxing in the hot tub. The food was delicious (though I found the prices a bit high for NZ) and enjoyed in their lovely dining room or patio. The service was great! We can’t wait to come back!

Construction work going on - which is OK - but, materials, spoil and machinery in front of our cabin impacting the view, builders blasting hip-hop music until 5pm and no acknowledgement from staff or effort by staff to limit construction impact. Seriously detracting. Didn't deliver 5-star service.

Reviewed Sep 16, 2024Staff were great. The restaurant/bar had a cosy atmosphere and great outlook. There is strong WiFi across the resort, which partly made up for lack of TV (rainy weather needs). Fishing off jetty was fun.
See the pics. Ridge of dirt and rock as view on the water side. Earthmoving machines as view from the rear, where an overwhelming staff quarters is being constructed. There will be zero privacy on completion in the Endeavour rooms. The feel was nothing like it is represented in marketing.

Reviewed May 21, 2024We had a lovely 1 bedroom room exactly the same as shown in the photos. It looked out onto the water and it was lovely to lie in bed watching the pukekohes and weka walking past. Very private. All the staff were excellent. Good walking tracks nearby.
The actual lodge itself (restaurant) was a little plainer inside than I expected.

Reviewed Apr 28, 2024The room was really nice and had a separate lounge area to relax in when the weather wasn't great. They had a great selection of food and drinks options available. The lodge by far had the best food on the track. The staff were all really friendly.
The lodge building itself felt a bit run down and not what we were expecting for a luxury lodge. The sink in our room looked like it had seen better days.

Reviewed Apr 20, 2024Beautiful setting with lovely rooms well spaced over the complex. Our accomodation was nestled in the bush. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The facilities were excellent. The toiletries were very high quality. Having kayaks included was excellent. The meal at the restaurant was top class for three of our four diners. Our gluten free companion was well catered for.
There could be more options for vegetarians on the dinner menu.

Reviewed Apr 4, 2024I stayed there 20 years ago and unfortunately it has now become bigger, more commercialised, very noisy. However the room was tastefully furnished and with a great view and patio looking out to Marlbourgh Sound inlet
Food and drink was expensive and not very good/limited choice/shabby place for the money. Our room was near to a hot tub with noisy chatter in the evenings. Arrived via taxi boat to loud music, masses of people and children. It was a great disappointment. The restaurant was very shabby and with hot tub users nearby did not feel very private.

Reviewed Mar 22, 2024A perfect haven at the end of day 1 on the Queen Charlotte Track. A cold cider at the bar followed but a dip in the sound and soak in the hot tub before an amazing dinner. Couldn't ask for anything more. Highly recommend.
Wifi wasn't great in the cabin but we weren't there to be on our phones. The scenery is stunning.
