Reviewed Apr 5, 2026Beautiful setting, really nicely designed cabins, great chicken and chips dinner from our hosts. If we hadn't been worn out from our 4.5 hour trek on the Queen Charlotte track, we could have made use of the kayaks too.

Reviewed Mar 19, 2026Tawa Cove was paradise. Don and Prue has created a wonderful escape and if you’re looking for somewhere to soak up the beauty of the Marlborough Sound this is the perfect place. After traveling thru NZ for a month, we felt rested and rejuvenated after our stay. Dinner was delicious and the kayaking was amazing!

Reviewed Apr 23, 2025Great stay for day 1 on the queen Charlotte track. Loved staying here. Not too much of a hike down - 5 min down and 10min up in the morning. Everything needed was provided and even snacks in the room for purchase. Hosts were lovely and so were the dogs! Loved staying here and will be back in the summer with hopefully some sun! We will water taxi this time.

Reviewed Apr 22, 2025Our room was very clean and tidy and the beds were very comfortable. We appreciated the free breakfast and the dinner we ordered was delicious and great value for money. The owner was also kind enough to take us out on his boat so we could see some dolphins up close.

Reviewed Mar 24, 2025The location was perfect as we walked there late afternoon from Resolution Bay along, Queen Charlotte track. We arrived soaking wet but had a warm welcome. The cabin was great, clean modern with lots of space. the dinner provided, breakfast and pack lunch were really good. Just what's needed if you are hiking or biking. It had a good outdoor area where you could sit and eat. The location was fabulous. We could as easily stayed longer.
A method of drying clothes and boots would have been good, however we did manage.

The hosts Pru & Don are super friendly and will help wherever it is needed. Lovely place to swimm or relax at the water. And great selection of drinks of course :D Thanks for everything!

Serene/ quiet location, very clean cabins and bathroom with complementary soaps etc, lovely friendly hosts, nice breakfast, cute friendly dog Oscar, use of free kayaks, well equipped kitchen and Spa pool and use of dart board!

Facilities outstanding for such an isolated location: including smart tv hot tub and the freshest most delicious foods provided for self catering. Owners went out of their way to be friendly and accomodating! Loved Oscar the friendliest Springer Spaniel.

Reviewed Dec 24, 2024Prue, Don and Oscar are amazing hosts! Very friendly and go out of their way to make sure you are as comfortable as possible. Lots of little extras that are much appreciated. We stayed for three nights and it was the perfect setting to wind down after a busy year. We stayed in cabin 1 which had a stunning water view and outdoor bath. Magic! We loved the little bay for swimming and the spa pool yo warm up in afterwards.

The steep climb in and out of the property to which the property gives an alert. We did better climbing out than climbing down (after all it is only 15 minutes) !

The complimentary kayaks and hot pool were a very nice touch. We also did some fishing and the owner helped us with some bait. Absolutely stunning. Highly recommended.

Reviewed Feb 9, 2023Fantastic accommodation, facilities and setting! Don and Prue were perfect hosts, making sure we had everything we needed. We had a lovely paddle in the kayak around the cove, then immediately into the hot tub with drinks! A perfect way to end the day, our stay at Tawa Cove Cabins was a highlight of our holiday.
Nothing at all, we just wished we could have stayed there longer.

It is a steep walk off the main queen Charlotte track so be prepared for about 10 mins of steep hill to get to the cabin.

The hosts are just awesome human beings and they go extra miles to make your stay unforgettable. It was indeed an unforgettable short stay and the only thing we regret is not booking another day or two in advance.

Reviewed Dec 1, 2022We loved staying in our cabin at Tawa Cove - we stayed for four nights and still didn't want to leave! The cabin was beautiful, almost brand-new with a wonderful comfy bed, luxurious bathroom and everything we needed. Don and Prue are so welcoming and work really hard to look after their guests. The food is amazing and lunch packs are available for when you walk the Queen Charlotte Track. There is a very special dog named Oscar who visits regularly for pats and to hang out, while you sit on the deck with a drink and look at the view. This is a wonderful place to stay and we will definitely return.

The BBQ hamper was fantastic and the platter was epic. Prue & Don are abousetly amazing hosts, nothing is a problem & they are do friendly. Oscar the dog is also great company. The

Reviewed Aug 7, 2022This cabin is amazing! You can only reach it by boat (or walking the Queen Charlotte Track) and is located in the most beautiful place in the Marlborough Sounds. The cabin was very new (more new cabins were still being build) and had the best view over the ocean. It was super clean and comfortable, we had everything we need and the cabin was nicely decorated. The hosts were very friendly and told a lot about how they live and about the area, they also prepared a delicious meal. We really hope to come back some day!
