KAMAKU Bungalows - Sunset Beach

The location was phenomenal, we had such an awesome few days here. Beautiful beach, INCREDIBLE food and we really relaxed. Julia and Oscar couldn’t have been more helpful with the organisation and hosting

We underestimated the trek down to access the property- pack lightly! But this was our own fault as we ignored their warnings. There was a slight problem with ants in the property, but that was understandable when the place was so remote, but they could get through the mosquito nets.

El lloc era molt tranquil, la platja preciosa i el menjar excel.lent! Vam gaudir molt els dies que vam passar allà en família. Va ser divertit arribar-hi a través de la jungla de l'illa.

Tot perfecte! Abans d'anar-hi en època de pluja, s'ha de saber que hi ha moltes onades i tenir precaució amb les corrents. Nosaltres ho sabíem i no vam tenir problema en gaudir dels dies de vacances a Kamaku.

Un petit coin de paradis au Cambodge. Belle plage et spot de magnifique spot de snorkling. Magnifiques couchers de soleil! Le bungalow était joliment décoré et confortable. Julia et Oscar on été super tout du long.

Le paradis se mérite! L'accès à sunset beach depuis le port est long et ardu. Mieux vaut être en forme. Voyagez léger ou demandez à Julia de vous envoyer de l'aide pour transporter vos bagages. La plage est malheureusement victime de la pollution plastique malgré les efforts des campements pour nettoyer tous les matins...

L accueil et la gentillesse de Julia, le bungalow face a l ocean, propre et confortable. La plage est accessible après 40 minutes de marche environ. Sportif mais réalisable avec de bonnes chaussures de marche. On mange très bien au restaurant.

Les détritus qui jonchent le sol de la plage, ramenés par les vagues. Ça gâche le plaisir de la beauté exceptionnelle du site

Beautiful guesthouse directly on a wild beach. The hosts Lisandro and Carlos are amazing. And of course the sunset is a plus!

The path to get there was challenging when we went there, because of the rain. Lisandro sent us a tractor to help us with the transfer, but you still have to walk 15 minutes downhill in the jungle. Also, unfortunately there was a lot of trash on the beach (probably taken by the sea).

Nous avons passé un très beau séjour dans ce bungalow en bord de plage. Le logement est tout simplement incroyable : on a vraiment l’impression d’être seuls sur l’île, face à la mer. L’accès à pied rend l’expérience encore plus unique et agréable. Le lit était très confortable, et l’accueil a été parfait. Les hôtes sont adorables, toujours disponibles et aux petits soins.

Seul petit point à noter : il fait assez chaud et humide la nuit malgré les ventilateurs au plafond, mais cela reste lié au climat marin et non à l’établissement.

Host Sandro was helpful & a friendly person had a great conversation with him. i will miss this place so much & will definitely stay there next time.

Gorgeous beachside bungalows, perfect for our family of three. There has been a lot of thought put into the design. The restaurant and bar are lovely too and provide a relaxing environment to soak up the environment. Staff were really helpful and responsive in all aspects.

För oss fungerade wifi enbart på morgonen. Vattentrycket i duschen behöver bli bättre.

Amazing and breathtaking beach with our bungalow right in front. We could just sit and enjoy the sunsets everyday in awe. We also snorkelled right in front of our accommodation with wonderful marine wildlife just there. No wifi which was fantastic as the kids were not really bothered even though they’re teenagers…so that itself was a great revelation. Will definitely be back! Julia and Oscar are the ultimate hosts, thank you

10, 10 y 10!!! Un sueño de sitio. Mágico y con una energía difícil de explicar y que solo puede sentirse en Kamaku. La ubicación es increíble y los bungalows son todos preciosos. Experiencia en una playa totalmente virgen y rodeada de selva, un paisaje inolvidable. La comida es absolutamente deliciosa, de nivel restaurante top. Probamos prácticamente todo y no hay nada que no nos encantara. Y el personal es super amable y cercano, nos hicieron sentir como en casa. Lisandro es un encanto y Oscar y Julia lo hacen todo más fácil y nos hicieron la estancia más agradable todavía. Sin duda, una experiencia que repetiríamos mil veces más!

Die Lage ist absolut fantastisch und man fühlt sich wie im Paradies. Die Unterkunft ist eher einfach aber hat alles was es braucht. Julia, Oscar und das Team sind super.

Wunderschöne Lage direkt am Meer, mit schöner Terrasse.

Das Dach ist seitlich offen und ermöglicht es den Fledermäusen in Zimmer zu fliegen. Dadurch ist der Boden immer durch Kot verunreinigt.

Это одно из самых лучших мест которое я посещала. Дикий пляж , невероятная атмосфера. Вкусная кухня. Есть куча игр настольных для компаний чтоб проводить весело вечера. Хозяева это отдельное восхищение. Для любителей сноркинга будет отличное место , так как рыбы в воде на любой вкус и цвет для наслаждения плавать и рассматривать этот чудесный подводный мир Я обязательно вернусь сюда вновь❤️

No sé ni por dónde empezar, porque para mí Sunset Beach es el paraíso en la tierra. Y gracias a Kamaku tienes el paraíso con tortilla de patata, paella y jamón ibérico. Sunset Beach es, literalmente, la mejor playa en la que he estado en mi vida. Pero Kamaku es lo que hace que todo tenga aún más sentido. Es de esos sitios a los que llegas y piensas: ok, aquí me podría quedar a vivir. Y morir probablemente. Hay algo muy especial en cómo está llevado. No es solo que sea bonito, es la energía del lugar y de toda la gente que trabaja allí. Te hacen sentir en casa en medio de la nada, y eso es impagable. Conocí a varias personas que acabaron cancelando sus siguientes planes para alargar su estancia en Kamaku, y lo entiendo perfectamente. Es una mezcla perfecta: Sunset Beach y el ambiente de Kamaku. De esos lugares donde el tiempo va más lento y no te quieres ir jamás. Gracias Julia por todo 🫶

Absolute paradise! Not easy to get to, but we are so glad we made the effort! We have travelled the world, stayed in some amazing places, but this had the best sunset by far, that we have ever seen! What a fabulous feeling to be sat relaxing on a beach, sand between your toes, small waves in the background, drinks flowing and that sunset as the finale. We stayed in the beach bungalow right on the front and it was just so lovely! Simple, clean, relaxing- this was exactly what we were hoping for and we got it. No air con, but the fan above the bed did the trick and the mosquito net made sure we were bug free for the night. We only wished that we stayed for an extra night or two Snorkelling was good. Lots of fish to nose at but it’s sad to say but our oceans are inundated with rubbish. This is nothing to do with the accommodation as it’s all over Asia, but so important to highlight. We will never get the perfection we want in our oceans unless we all play our part. So many people complain, yet it is only people that do this and that can fix it. Overall I would highly recommend this place if you are staying on this side of the island. It is the nicest along this stretch of beach. And definitely book for a few nights as you will want to make the most of the quiet chill time! I wish we stayed longer!

TRAUMHAFT!!! Wir hatten einen Bungalow direkt am Meer. Julia, Oscar und ihr Team sind alle sehr sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit; das Essen ist ausgezeichnet.

A magnificent place nestled by the ocean. The western part of the island is much calmer and more tranquil. Internet access is a bit of a problem, but it's a great opportunity to disconnect from the internet. It lives up to its name with a fantastic sunrise. I had read in some reviews that food and drinks were expensive, but the prices are quite reasonable.

Getting to this side of the island is a bit difficult. If you're carrying heavy luggage, the downhill sections of the path through the forest might be challenging. Other options include hiring a local boat. You might need to cross to the east of the island or to Koh Rong. But is it worth all the trouble? Absolutely! Sunset Island is like a reward that makes all your efforts worthwhile!

Good food and clean ablution facilities. Great location. Pity we were reprimanded for moving a bench so 4 of us could sit together to watch the sun go down.

Cold reception, fly and mosquito infested. Frog water pit near accommodation, couldnt hear the sound of the sea above the reverberating noise coming from the frogs.

Les difficultés d’approvisionnement entraîne une inflation des prix un peu élevé par rapport au reste de l’île ou du Cambodge. Attention au moustiques.

The staff were incredibly welcoming and the location is out of this world. I had a wonderful time here and could not recommend it enough!

We received a warm welcome from Maria, who provided all the necessary information at the beginning, which we really appreciated. The shared showers and toilets were sufficiently clean and provided a good level of privacy. The setting itself also has potential, especially with hammocks in front of the cabins, which create a nice atmosphere (although not always usable during the day due to the sun).

Unfortunately, the overall experience did not quite live up to expectations. The accommodation itself was very basic. The hammocks, while a nice idea, could not really be used until around 3 pm because of the intense sun. We also had several disappointing experiences with the food and service. My mother ordered a tuna baguette, which was very poor considering the price. On another occasion, we ordered coffee and were asked if we wanted sugar. We said no, but the coffee was served already sweetened. We also tried to order a local dessert. The waitress confirmed it was available, but after waiting, we were first told it would take longer because they needed an extra ingredient, and shortly after that, we were informed that the dessert was not available at all. Overall, the customer service felt disorganized and disappointing. We also noticed that many guests chose to eat elsewhere, as not everyone wants to eat exclusively Spanish cuisine while in Cambodia. In the end, we preferred going to eat on the other side of the beach at Robinson, where the food was excellent and reasonably priced – easily the highlight of our stay.

What Julia and Oscar have created here is as close to paradise as you will find. Everything thought through. But in a way you don’t notice. The staff were all friendly helpful and involved. The food was on a whole other level. Coming from Barcelona the menu is Spanish. But boy was it delicious. Quite how they create such perfect paella, tapas and bocadillos on this tiny island is a miracle in itself. The whole place is an oasis of calm with beautiful clear waters to make full use of the free snorkels and see all the fishes around the bay. The cocktails as good as any you will find in the world (and a happy hour). We stayed in a bungalow with a beautifully crafted thatched vaulted ceiling and a door opening onto a terrace and the beach. We were instantly made to feel at home and welcome. The vibes rippled through everyone that stayed here. There are paddle boards available at neighbouring resorts and they encourage you to visit the other restaurants on the beach for different menus.

De locatie is absoluut prachtig, een hele goede plek om tot rust te kunnen komen. Het is kleinschalig maar heeft alles wat je nodig hebt. Door het kleinschalige voel je ook echt de rust. Het resort heeft veel keuze aan eten en er zijn snorkels die je kan lenen. De zee en het strand zijn mooi, veel mooier dan de andere (makkelijker te bereiken) kant van het eiland. De jungletocht was een uitdaging maar ook een leuke ervaring. (Als je ouder of niet fit bent is het echter niet aan te raden, neem dan de boot.) De ventilatoren zijn fijn en werken goed genoeg om snachts koel te blijven. Wees wel bereid om je kamer te delen, waar er sowieso gekko’s bij je zullen verblijven, je bent echt één met de natuur.

Sommig personeel mag wel iets aardiger/minder geïrriteerd doen (geldt niet voor allemaal, sommige waren dan wel weer heel aardig) Helaas beide tijdens dit verblijf last gehad van buikklachten en bedwants beten opgelopen. De hoeveelheid muggen, maar dat hoort nou eenmaal bij de jungle. Het verblijf zou bijvoorbeeld wel muggenspray kunnen aanbieden. Het resort zou wat meer aandacht kunnen besteden aan het aangespoelde plastic rondom de rotsen.

Loved the location. I knew before coming here it would be remote and quiet and that's exactly what I craved. My bungalow was simple, but I think if you know before you come thats not an issue. Food was good, there is also other options on the beach of you want to change it up. It's a bit more expensive on the island but that's to be expected. Bathrooms were ok and clean.

Staff seemed a little distant. Some really tried to avoid talking to the guests wherever possible. (The owners were nice)

We LOVED our stay at Kamaku! As mentioned by others, you are more-or-less glamping. When you adjust your expectations accordingly, this is an amazing glamping opportunity! The beach-front cabin was comfortable and had a great view. No A/C, but with the windows open to catch the breeze and the mosquito net down to keep out the bugs, each night was super comfortable. The toilet/shower block wasn't that far away and yes, we were greeted by a couple of curious salamanders and sometimes a few bugs - but remember, you are camping. Showers/toilets themselves were kept very clean by the staff. No hot water, but again - glamping! All meals at the restaurant were delicious. Drinks were refreshing. Staff were super friendly. Would 100% visit again.

A few additional options or even rotating specials at the restaurant would be nice. Not necessary, but nice.

L’emplacement est absolument magnifique. Dommage que quelques déchets viennent échouer sur la plage mais le staff les ramasse rapidement.

Notre bungalow sur la plage était assez spacieux pour 4 personnes par contre vraiment beaucoup de petites bébêtes (pas hyper agréable). À côté il y avait de l’eau stagnante mal odorante, en fonction de l’orientation du vent l’odeur envahi le bungalow.

Well located! Incredibly nice staff who supported us from the beginning to end. The facilities and the stay is very nice, they help you relax and enjoy a relaxing holiday. It’s remote and the internet here isn’t the best but that’s the whole point of staying in this place - you reconnect with the nature and the self in a more profound sense than anywhere else. I’d love to be back and hope to do so soon!

All the food was excellent quality and well presented and delicious- with generous portions . The staff were super friendly and helpful including very good Thai massage . bungalow on beach was very well designed and made and perfect for us. Loved all the hammocks too

Fantastisk beliggenhed i en smuk bugt med fin snorkeling. Skøn spansk mad, roligt, hyggeligt fællesområde og sødt personale. Vi boede i et fint hvidt hus på stranden - det var fantastisk. Der er også andre resorts i bugten - dejlig stemning og ikke overrendt.

We had a great stay at Kamaku, we loved the location being at the corner of the beach meaning almost no people around us and having our bungalow so close to the seaside. Also, not only Julia, the owner, but all staff members were always super nice, kind & helpful and somehow create welcoming atmosphere that you're not feeling as a tourist but part of their community for a couple of days. We tried a lot of dishes as well and everything was great.

Nothing, we count that we booked a bungalow in the nature but someone can get surprised that a spider or gekon still can get easily into your room through the bamboo walls.Therefore, probably with a lot of fear would not enjoy so much as we did.

Besonders schön ist der private Strand und die Abgeschiedenheit. Die Bungalows liegen auf der westlichen Seite der Insel, wodurch man jeden Tag einen tollen Sonnenuntergang bestaunen kann.

Das Essen könnte verbessert werden. Das Menü ist recht übersichtlich und es gibt einige spanische Gerichte und kaum lokales Essen. Mein Mann hat sich direkt am ersten Abend den Magen verdorben & auch ich hatte leider die drei Tage, die wir dort waren, immer Sodbrennen.

Bien placé sur la très belle Sunset Beach, personnel très accueillant. On s'y sent tout de suite bien !

Quelques odeurs (de la salle de bain ?) parfois qu'on peut sentir dans le Bungalow et prix un peu cher au restaurant (mais c'est le cas de tous les restaurants de cette plage) Mais sinon tout était au top !!

Petite cabane familiale digne d'un rêve. Quand on dit les pieds dans l'eau dans ce lieu idyllique tout prend son sens.

Wunderschöne Lage am Ende der Bucht. Freundschaftliches Verhältnis zwischen den ca. 5 verschiedenen Ressorts am Sunset Beach, weshalb man problemlos die Angebote der anderen Einrichtungen annehmen kann. Besonders zu empfehlen sind Yoga bei Cori und die nächtliche Planktontour mit Kajaks!

Wer die Wahl zwischen Bungalow und Zelt hat, sollte sich für das Zelt entscheiden. Es ist größer, freundlicher und frei von nächtlichen Besuchern wie Fröschen, Spinnen, Mücken, 30cm langen Echsen und Riesenmäusen. Der Dschungel fängt halt direkt hinter den Bungalows an…

C'est un endroit exceptionnel, les bungalows sont les pieds dans une eau turquoise, les repas sont bons et le staff est sympa. Ils prêtent des masques et tuba sur demande

Le séjour est onéreux, c'est un endroit magnifique et les difficultés d'approvisionnement par la mer uniquement expliquent largement les prix. Les prestations sont basiques (pas d'eau chaude notamment). C'est le prix à payer pour ce petit bout de paradis.

L’emplacement isolé au calme en bout de plage. La beauté du lieu et l’esprit de « Robinson » qui s’en dégage.

Peut être juste le manque de bain de soleil devant la plage. Il faut prévoir de l’anti moustique car les moustiques y sont voraces ( l’établissement n’y est bien sûr pour rien)

Die Bungalows liegen am wunderschönen Sunset Beach, wer zu Fuß vom Pier kommen möchte, muss einige Höhenmeter über einen Dschungelpfad überwinden, der mehr Klettersteig als Pfad ist. Man hat die Möglichkeit, Tiere zu beobachten.

Ich hatte die Unterkunft Monate im Voraus gebucht, einige Tage vor Ankunft wurde dann wegen Besitzerwechsel storniert. Ich habe dann neu buchen müssen und leider nicht den gewünschten Bungalow am Strand bekommen. Die Besitzer verfolgen das Konzept „kein Plastik“, Wasser bekommt man in leeren Weinflaschen - für trockene Alkoholkranke schwierig.

Wat een absolute ontdekking was Koh Rong Samloem. Wat een ongekende parel is Sunset Beach. En wat een buitengewoon bijzondere plek zijn Kamaku Bungalows. Een schitterend verblijf om de laatste dagen van 2025 op de mooist mogelijke manier af te sluiten. Alles begint met een avontuurlijke trek van zo’n 40 minuten door de jungle, waarna je aankomt op een adembenemend strand. Daar word je meteen warm onthaald door het Spaanse koppel dat deze magische plek runt. Onze tenten hadden zicht op zee en wauw — de naam Sunset Beach is allesbehalve overdreven. De zonsondergangen zijn hier onbeschrijfelijk mooi. De grootste verrassing? Het eten en de cocktails. Ongelofelijk lekker, verfijnd en met zorg bereid. We hebben hier élke maaltijd gegeten — ontbijt, lunch én diner — omdat niets elders ook maar in de buurt kwam van de kwaliteit hier. Kamaku Bungalows is een heerlijke plek, ver weg van alles, waar rust, natuur en gastvrijheid perfect samenkomen. De prijs-kwaliteitverhouding is ronduit fenomenaal. Wij dromen er nu al van om terug te keren.

Als ik dan toch iets zou moeten of kunnen zeggen: gezien het uitzonderlijke kader zouden ze de tenten (bungalows hebben we niet gezien) iets bohemischer/toffer kunnen aankleden, wat persoonlijker maken.

Hier wird es schwer etwas schlechtes zu finden. Die Lage ist einmalig, wunderschöne Sonnenuntergänge und kristallklares Wasser.

The beach is perfect, it is only a matter of choosing which type of place is your vibe. I was glad to stay at Kamaku BC the owners and staff are great, and it's at the end of the beach so not a lot of through traffic. The bar area also creates a space a good space for meeting people. Very good cocktails. Beer always cold. And of course the sunsets are amazing. Very shady!

Bathrooms were right near my bungalow so it smelled sometimes, but not a big deal. Lots of mosquitos, but I think that is anywhere on the island although they could use coils maybe. Also was confusing to arrive because I didn't know I had been delivered to the far pier which is much further away and instructions didn't cover that situation. Step to bungalow was also a bit broken and easy to fall off of. Experienced this a few places in Cambodia now.
