Ika and Yani are such incredible hosts. They were so thoughtful and friendly. I really felt at home and they were very kind to me, letting me stay in my room late and making me some tasty traditional snacks. ika even got up at 04.30 and made me an omelette sandwich to take on a 5am trip. What can I say! Amazing! They can help organise anything you need and the price is so reasonable. The room is simple but it has everything you need. Also they have a beautiful garden and are close to many restaurants. Definitely stay here!

Exceptional 2-night stay at Efata Homestay – the perfect base for Borobudur. We spent two nights at Efata Homestay in Borobudur and it was one of the highlights of our trip to Java. This is a true family-run homestay, not a hotel, and that personal touch makes all the difference. The location is excellent — just a short walk (around 10–15 minutes) from Borobudur Temple and the sunrise entrance, yet set on a quiet street away from the main tourist bustle. The property sits in a lovely little compound with a beautiful, well-kept garden full of greenery, flowers, and outdoor seating. It was the perfect place to relax with a cup of coffee inthe morning before a day of exploring. Our room was simple but very clean and comfortable, with air-conditioning (quiet and effective), a private bathroom with hot water, and a nice outdoor seating area facing the garden. Everything we needed was there, and the space felt peaceful and well-maintained. The real standout, though, is the hospitality from hosts Ika and Yani. They are genuinely warm, helpful, and thoughtful. From the moment we arrived they made us feel welcome, shared useful tips about visiting the temple, local attractions in the area, and recommended good local restaurants, and were always available if we needed anything. Breakfast was a highlight each morning — delicious homemade local Javanese food prepared with care. The coffee they served was delicious, and Ika’s knowledge of the area (he’s local and a former teacher) added real value if you want to see more than just the main temple. For a short two-night stay it felt ideal: convenient for the temple, quiet enough to rest, and personal enough that it didn’t feel like just another hotel stop. If you’re looking for a clean, affordable, and authentically welcoming place near Borobudur, I highly recommend Efata Homestay. I’d happily stay again.

Me and my daughter enjoyed our stay here. The location is great, the place is peaceful and comfortable, and the hosts are very kind and welcoming. The homemade breakfast was also delicious. We really had a lovely stay and would happily come back (˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶)

Fantastic afternoon provided by owner, among local villages, sugar production, and a private music lesson, all with great respect for the local people.

Accueil absolument charmant et en anglais d’Ika et sa femme Yani. Une vraie petite maison d’hôte, parfaite pour une ou quelques nuits à Borobudur. Cela permet de voir le temple en autonomie, Ika nous a même amenées en voiture à 4h du matin pour la visite au lever du soleil. Sinon c’est à 10 minutes à pied. La chambre dispose d’une petite terrasse qui donne sur le joli jardin fleuri. Elle est spacieuse et fonctionnelle et la salle de bain aussi. Lit confortable et climatisation efficace. Le tout est très propre. Le petit déjeuner est parfait aussi. Nous avons aimé nous promener au marché typique et dans les ruelles autour du village ou à travers les paisibles paysages de rizières.

Ikaさんはとても親切で、遺跡の本を貸して下さったり、サンライズツアーに参加するのに早朝３時45分に送って下さったり、空き時間で地元の寺院を案内して色々説明してくれたり（地元愛が強く、旅人に地元を案内するのがパッションだと話してくれました）。 奥さまも気遣いのある方で、ウェルカムドリンクや（朝ご飯の代わりに）ツアー後に飲み物や果物を用意してくれたり、軽食を包んでくれました。 部屋も清潔で居心地がよかったです。お庭もよく手入れされていて、猫の親子３匹もいました。 地元の話も聞くことが出来て、ゲストハウスならではの暖かいステイでした。

トイレとシャワーが一室でシャワーカーテンがないので、シャワーを浴びると便器が濡れてしまいますが、使用するのに特に問題はありませんでした。

The place was comfortable, quiet, and had everything I needed for my stay, including a nice breakfast with special local snacks. Ika, the owner, wast the best host ever. We had very good chats and he was really helpful with recommendations, instructions, and showing me around. I felt really welcome!

Ika, Yoni and their son are a truly wonderful and welcoming family. Staying with them was one of the highlights of my time in Java and gave me a genuine glimpse into local life. La chambre est confortable, le jardin est apaisant mais ce qui a vraiment rendu notre séjour exceptionnel est la présence d’Ika et de sa femme ! Ika nous a emmené en voiture pour la visite du temple, il a à cœur de vous faire découvrir son village et les environs et nous a donné les meilleurs conseils pour faire un tour par nous même et découvrir la culture locale et authentique ! (Cours de poterie, fabrique de soja, de sucre de coco, cours de musique javanaise). Les petits déjeuners préparés avec soin par sa femme étaient très bons et permettent de découvrir chaque jour de nouveau mets locaux ! Un grand merci pour tout !

ボロブドゥールサンライズに車で送ってくださったり、サンライズの帰りに偶然お会いしたらそのあとお土産屋さんにも車で連れて行ってくださったり、イカさんにお世話になりっぱなりで１泊でしたが色々回ることができました。 朝食付きでしたがサンライズツアーにも含まれてたので、昼食に替えてくださってありがたかったです。ヤニさんの手料理とてもおいしかったです。

First of all, we loved the hospitality of the hosts. They literally envelop you with care. The property location is very convenient - close to Borobudur temple and beautiful rice fields. The breakfast was fantastic - diverse and delicious. Rooms are in the real garden, which is very peaceful and beautiful. The room was cozy and comfortable. We loved that homestay.

The best homestay I have ever stayed in, ever!! Really special time at Efata Homestay, despite it being a short 1 night, it will definitely be the most memorable. From the very start I was greeted with big smiles and was made to feel at home instantly. The homestay and garden itself were immaculate - really well maintained and looked after. The room was extremely comfortable and had everything you needed. Ika was extremely helpful and brought me around on his scooter to a few places - I got the opportunity to see his friends places - coconut sugar making, batik making where I was able to learn the process of the traditional wax-resist dyeing technique and create my own pattern to keep as a souvenir. I also visited some temples with Ika the following day after my sunrise Borobudur tour (which Ika woke up before 4am to drive me to drive it being a short walk!) Yani was a superb host and made sure i didn’t go hungry - I was greeted with a welcome drink and even though I did get breakfast at my temple tour, Yani prepared some Indonesian snacks for me and tea before my bus back to Yogyakarta. Truly an unforgettable experience which I am extremely thankful for. Thank you to you both!

Zelo prijetno bivanje v bližini templja. Lastnika sta zelo prijazna in lepo poskrbita za goste. Zajtrk je odličen in zelo je čisto. Zapeljali so nas tudi do templja sicer bi precej iskali pravi vhod. Vsekakor priporočamo.

Hôm mình check-out, bác còn dùng ô tô cá nhân chở mình sang khách sạn mới free luôn. Cảm giác như được người nhà chăm sóc chứ không phải khách du lịch. • Phòng ốc & Vibe: Phòng siêu sạch, vườn cây xanh mướt, thoáng khí. Mình đến nơi lúc 23:30 trong trạng thái ốm sốt, nhưng nhờ không gian ở đây mà ngủ cực ngon, sáng dậy khỏe hẳn. • Giá cả: Quá hời cho một chất lượng dịch vụ như này (đã bao gồm ăn sáng). - Khoảng 4:20 sáng sẽ có tiếng loa từ nhà thờ Hồi giáo (đặc sản chung ở Indo rồi). Chỉ cần chịu khó dậy xíu đeo earplug vào là ngủ ngon lành tới sáng. Không phải vấn đề lớn. Tuyệt đối recommend. Nếu lịch trình cho phép, mình chắc chắn sẽ ở lại thêm 1 đêm nữa. My stay at Efata Homestay was truly awesome, made even more special by Ika and Yani, who went out of their way to help me. Ika, in particular, took me on his motorbike to the Chicken Church and Borobudur Temple. On my last morning, he took me to the bus station and even helped me book a ticket back to Malioboro when it wasn’t entirely clear if there was an early morning service. They also made a fantastic local Javanese breakfast each morning. Super clean room, with nice touches such as extra blankets. Such a nice family. And a great location as well Don’t hesitate, just book.

- Ika and Iani are lovely smily extremely helpful hosts. They know a lot about Borobudur and about the surroundings. It is a pleasure to hear the explanations. - Located on a side street, the house has a small garden and you can sit outside your room and relax. - The bed is very comfortable and the AC quiet - You are in walking distance (about 10 min) to the bus station. And it takes about 5 min to walk to the sunrise entrance for the visit of Borobudur.

Thr owner have had excellent service and whole heartly. The tourist should feel homy and well informed about the environment. The homestay is really homy with lush , greenery and kampong atmosphere. Just walk a few minutes to Candi Borobudur. A plenty good food are around walking distance.

Probably our best homestay so far in Java. Ika and his wife have a beautiful house and garden with big clean bedrooms. The wifi is excellent, the location is 2 min walk from the main street with many resto. The breakfast is delicious. I chose the local breakfast and it was different and delicious every day. But most of all, it is the hosts’ hospitality that was heart warming. Ika drove us to the temple. They brought us thermos of hot water every day once they knew we liked tea in the evening. We will fondly remember this place.

The hosts are amazing. They care about you and try to help in everything they can. For instance, they took us to a shop to buy our indonesian sim card.

A fantastic accommodation with lovely people. I couldn't have imagined a better start to my time in Java. Ika and Yani make every effort to ensure an authentic and enjoyable stay, a true homestay! Borobudur Temple is a 10-minute walk away. Cycling through Borobudur is a lot of fun, and airport transfers or onward to Yogyakarta are super convenient! I wish them both all the best.

Petite structure de 2 chambres dans un très joli jardin, à l'écart de la route principale. Les chambres sont propres et agréables. Accueil chaleureux de Yani et Ika qui vous font vous sentir de suite bienvenus chez eux. Ika nous a conseillés et aidés pour nos activités et les restaurants. Il nous a aussi accompagnés pour visiter les artisans des villages alentours. Location de vélos sur place. Très bon petit déjeuner indonésien. Je suis resté trois nuits dans leur établissement. Accueil très chaleureux, Ika et son épouse sont des personnes incroyables, douces et très généreuse. Ika aime accompagner ses hôtes, il m’a accompagné au temple, Selogryio et m’a partagé ses connaissances concernant le temple et les rizières en terrasse et m’a aidé pour l’organisation de toutes mes activités sur place. Merci encore à eux pour ce moment magique.

De accomodatie zelf was prachtig, met een prachtige tuin en fijne kamers. Bovenal waren ika en yani ontzettend behulpzaam, vriendelijk en voelden we ons meteen helemaal thuis. Ika heeft ons meegenomen op een hele bijzondere tour door de omgeving, wat echt een onvergetelijke ervaring was. Het ontbijt van yani was heerlijk elke ochtend. Zeer aan te raden!!!

Efata Homestay se encuentra en medio de la localidad de Borobudur. Ubicado a unos 20 mins a pie y 4 en taxi del templo de Borobudur, una pequeña pero bien cuidada habitación, con todas las comodidades, da la posibilidad de descansar tranquilamente y de disfrutar en el porche del bien cuidado jardín que ofrece esta estancia. La amabilidad de los anfitriones es excelente, lugar limpio, desayuno mezcla de tradicional y occidental… en resumen, es una excelente relación calidad precio. Nosotros estuvimos solo una noche de paso pero bien podríamos haber descansado una noche más allí. Eso sí, como en toda Indonesia se escucha la llamada a la oración a la mezquita de madrugada bastante intenso, algo a lo que pasado unos días de viaje uno se acostumbra poco a poco. Efata Homestay is a little haven of peace, just a short walk from the temple, on a quiet street. It’s run by a truly charming and welcoming Indonesian couple. The room is spacious and spotless, breakfast is delicious, and the value for money — and location — is unbeatable. Mr. Ika kindly offered to take me around to a few other places near the temple to make the most of my short visit to Borobudur. Such a thoughtful gesture. I 100% recommend staying with these people who clearly have a passion for hospitality.

This is a lovely homestay close to the Borobudur Temple (less than 10 mins to the gate). The host family lives there and are the most wonderful people. This property's location is amazing - restaurants, cafes, grocery stores are all less than 5 min walk from their house. They really went out of their way to make me comfortable. I can wholeheartedly recommend this place to both solo travelers as well as couples visiting the temple.

It’s close to Borobudur Temple,the main road is only a dozen meters away，and you’ll find lots of restaurants if you turn left outside, a convenience store if you turn right, and a supermarket right across the street. Before I visit, I add the host WA. He gave me a lot of help and very kindly. The location is good and also room is good. The host can speak good English and also tried to give us a lot help if he could. We really enjoy to stay in their house and hope will visit next time.

The owners are lovely and friendly people. They can tell a lot about the place. Ika and his woman let feel you staying at home! Restaurants and shops are nearby. Sitting on the terrace you can enjoy the birds and butterfly’s in the green lush garden, listen to the choir of the frogs behind their house. The mosque is nearby, just enjoy it! 😇 Rooms are basic but clean. Very special: As the entrance of Borobodur now is more far away Ika brought us there with his own car, very kind.

Ide and Yanni are excellent hosts, they are friendly, helpful and gave us lots of useful information. The breakfast was delicious and we enjoyed sitting outside our room overlooking the beautiful garden. Ide kindly took us in his car to the new entrance gate of the Buddhist temple.

Very clean! Very lovely owners that were not too pushy regarding tours or information and respected our privacy. At the same time they were always happy to chat or provide more information if wanted. No mold in the bathroom, hot shower, little seating area in front of the room and no stains on towels or sheets (which is unfortunately very common in Indonesia). Breakfast was also good with a variety each day. Location close to lots of restaurants and in a quiet street so there is no traffic noise.

The AC was not powerful enough and the wifi did not or only barely reach our room which was a bit unfortunate. Worked just fine on the terrace.

We had an amazing time with Ika and Yani at their homestay. They welcomed us wholeheartedly and made us feel right at home. We were able to borrow their bikes and had great bike tours thanks to their tips. Highlight at the end: Ika took us to see a tofu maker and explained the whole process. We feel very lucky to have visited that place that we would have definetly missed without Ika as our guide. The breakfast in the morning was also great with different local snacks each morning, fresh fruit and continental as well as local mains. Thank you for everything Ika and Yani!

Ika and his wife were the most kind and generous. They took so much care of me, I felt like a member of the family, and they explained me so many things about the village and the culture. The house is strategically located very close to the Borobudur temple, you can walk there in 10 minutes and there are restaurants and shops around. The breakfast was amazing and you can ask to try also indonesian sweets. I visited also the tofu maker and the coconut sugar maker, I really recommend to do it while there if you are interested in learning more about this part of the culture. I hope I can come back! My time at Efata Homestay was magic. The room was clean, spacious, quiet and the bed was absolutely comfortable. If you want a place that feels safe and hospitable, look no further this is *that* place. You can easily spent a couple of nights here! The homestay owners are amazing: Yani cooks with love wonderful Indonesian and Western breakfasts. Besides that Ika gives you some very good tips on where to eat, what to do etc. Their genuine hospitality goes beyond meaning. Borobodur is really close by. Don't forget to book your ticket on-line. Thanks to Yani and Ika I had a wonderful and very special stay at their Homestay. Hopefully I will be back perhaps next May for Waisak..

If you want to spend time in Borobudur with local hospitality, wellcome to Efata Homestay! It can be a good idea to stay there for a few days and see not only Borobudur temple (don’t forget to buy a ticket online in advance), but also another temples, rice fields and a life of local people. The homestay is close to the main road, but in a quiet place. All what you need is on a walking distance - the temple, restaurants, shops etc. Owners can help you with everything what you need. What to say about Efata Homestay? It is a small place run by the owners Ika and his wife, a wonderful couple who make you feel at home. It is an accommodation that is well worth staying for one night, it is like staying with a local family. The accommodation is very close to the temple, so you can get up early to take a walk around the temple at 6:30 when they open and no one is there. Many places to eat around. Really kind people that helps us when we arrive late because we had to leave our previous hotel that was not ok at all. The breakfast was really good. The room quiet and clean. They also offered to help us for driving and visits Highly recommended!

Bathroom a little bit old

The hosts, Pak Ika and Bu Yani, are incredibly kind, gentle and supportive. Breakfasts can be both western and Indonesian - do choose the latter, because they are not spicy and beautifully made and varied. The bed is great, as is the shower and other facilities. The homestay is in a small street just off the main road, and therefore quiet. The garden is great to sit and relax. The entrance to Candi Borobudur is just a few hundred meters away, places to eat everywhere. And going out to smaller candis and into the countryside is easy, as bicycles are available for a very modest rent at the homestay. Pak Ika has all the info you need to go to the best places.

It was great homestay to stay, super strategic location near Borobudur (just walking 4 minute) Great hospitality by the host Mr ika 🤗 Thx u for your warm kindness during our stay. We had a very enjoyable 4 night stay, from May 5 (the weather was good, only had a bit of rain one afternoon). Ika and Yani were very hospitable hosts. The homestay only has 3 rooms - to maintain a family like atmosphere. The location was quite convenient, only a few minutes to the entrance to Borobudur temple park, about 10+ minutes walk from the bus terminal, lots of food stalls nearby along the main street. The double bed was comfortable, wifi strong, the air con and shower were good. The garden surrounding the courtyard provided a relaxing setting. Ika provided prompt responses to our early inquiries regarding buses, etc. to Borobudur from Yogyakarta airport (we were able to catch a big DAMRI bus directly from YIA airport, every 2 hrs, IDR 100K) and from Borobudur to Yogyakarta (we caught a DAMRI minibus to Yogyakarta to Malioboro St (to Bank of Indonesia (B.I.), IDR 20K). Ika drove us to the bus terminal. We had a choice of western or local breakfasts. Since we stayed so many nights, Ika provided us with bicycles for free. (If you cycle out past the junction for Punthuk Setumbu to the next junction and turn right and cycle for a bit you can see Borobudur temple from a distance through the rice fields, and a bit further still towards the pottery viilage you can see Merapi volcano if the sky is clear or the clouds clear later in the afternoon). All in all, we would stay again.

The best part of Efata Homestay cannot be seen in any photo or description. It is the big heart and the great hospitality of the hosts. It was a great stay with a very clean room and we would have loved to stay longer. I recommend everyone to stay several nights and also to explore the area. I can only recommend the accommodation to anyone who would like to stay in a lovely, authentic homestay.

I had a wonderful stay at Efata Homestay and highly recommend this place. The room was nice and clean and nextdoor you find everything you need, like restaurants or a supermarket. Also the Borobudur temple is very close, you can walk there. What the stay makes it really special to me was Ika and Yani, they are lovely hosts. If you have any question they’ll help you. They gave me so many good advices and they even drove me to places around, like the coconut sugar place. Yani‘s breakfast was also very delicious. So if you come to Borobudur, stay at Efata Homestay.

Efata Homestay is located very close to the entrance of Borobudur. The house is in the busy area but very quiet inside. There are restaurants and convenience stores nearby. It's both safe and convenient. The hosts are a couple called Ika and Yani. They are so kind, friendly and considerate. Before I arrived, they had already sent me some basic information via messages. For example, they told me how to get to the homestay from the airport and reminded me to book my Borobudur ticket earlier. There is a very beautiful and comfortable garden here. The room is clean. Wifi is fast and stable. I extended my stay here for a total of 5 days because I enjoy my time here. The delicious local breakfast prepared by Yani is something I look forward to every day. I feel like I am at home and they are my family:)

Had an amazing stay at Efata. It’s a lovely place with such warm hosts, Ika and Yani. Yani made some amazing breakfast, the best I had in Indonesia. Ika was very kind to lend us bikes and took us around to the Punthuk Setumbu and shared suggestions for places around. The place is very neatly maintained as well.

We loved the owners the most. Our host Ika and Yanni were so kind and Ika really helped out alot. They made us feel welcome and comfortable. The location is hard to beat as it was just a couple of blocks from the Main entrance. The made a delicious breakfast in the morning and when I asked for hot water, it was provided, no problem. The room is simple but has good a/c and a nice and hot shower.

The main negative is the call to worship at the very nearby Mosque at 4:30am. The frogs in the area were pretty loud overnight. I would suggest having earplugs with you.

I am grateful to have stayed at Efata homestay. Ika and his wife were extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful. They helped me with information for tickets to Borobudur, Ika himself accompanied me to the Temple and shared insightful information with me. The place is well located, cozy and very quiet. The garden is impressive. Highly recommended.

Ika und Yanni are exceptionally nice people and made my stay truly memorable. They helped me with everything. Ika even accompanied me to the temple and gave me some first-hand information. Moreover he did a bicycle tour with me and showed me a mushroom and honey manufacture and also took me on his motorbike to Candi Mendut. The breakfast was delicious and every afternoon I got coffee and sweets. The homestay is in walking distance to the temple and city centre.

Ika and his wife are incredibly helpful and super friendly. The breakfast was great! They helped us with tickets to Borobudur temple and arranged transport to and from the office. They've got a PERFECT location for all things Borobudur and surrounds. Highly recommend!
