Locatie was prima, personeel was erg behulpzaam. Lekker zwembad.

Gehele accommodatie zou wel wat beter onderhouden kunnen worden. Kamer was wat muf, oa door schimmel. Tuin was in opzet mooi maar kon ook wat beter onderhouden worden. Op het terrein was teveel ruimte gehouden voor algemene doeleinden waardoor het wat verlaten en doelloss aandeed. Zwembad werd uitgerekend gerenoveerd tijdens ons verblijf, waarbij een bouwvakker met de vieze kleding in het water stond. Niet zo hygiënisch. Ontbijt was wel wat karig, kon ietsje meer zijn aan het begin van de dag. Voor een verblijf waar je rust verwacht viel het me tegen dat er op een avond een aantal andere gasten muziek zaten af te spelen waarbij ook stevig meegezongen werd, niet gepast daar. Fietsen waren ook toe aan vervanging, nodigt niet echt ut om ermee op pad te gaan. Motobike zou zeker een optie moeten zijn daar ivm de afstanden, zou bv elektrisch kunnen in verband met de duurzaamheid. Al met al was de prijs-kwaliteitverhouding niet goed, je verwacht voor die prijs echt meer, al hoeven we echt geen luxe maar wel iets meer kwaliteit.

Lovely retreat in a quieter countryside area, staff were lovely and great food. WiFi works very well if you’re trying to work remotely. We were considering staying in the larger Mai Chau town area but this location is more scenic and much quieter, so very glad we chose it.

This is my fourth visit to the resort, which pretty much says it all. For me, it's the perfect getaway from our lives in the big city (Hanoi). The resort is in a stunningly beautiful part of the valley, with lots of roads and trails and opportunities for independent travel. The owners are TRULY eco-conscious; almost all produce is grown on site and waste is handled responsibly. And the people are lovely! It's a part of the world I've grown to love and a business I'm happy to support.

J’ai passé 6 nuits au Mai Chau Valley Retreat au lieu des 4 prévues… et cela veut tout dire 😊🌿 Cet endroit est tout simplement magique. Dès mon arrivée, je me suis sentie comme à la maison. Le calme, la beauté du lieu, la nature tout autour, loin de la ville… tout invite à ralentir et à profiter pleinement du moment. Le personnel est adorable et toujours attentionné. Le propriétaire est d’une grande gentillesse, ce qui rend l’expérience encore plus spéciale. Les repas étaient délicieux, l’ambiance douce et paisible… vraiment, tout était parfait. Un immense merci pour ces merveilleux moments. Je reviendrai, c’est certain 💛

It was in a beautiful area.

There was a large group there at the same time and it felt like we were ignored. The food was poor. We ordered a set menu in the evening and most of it was cold and lacked any flavour. Breakfast was also lacklustre. The grounds of the retreat had seen better days and were in need of more care and maintenance.

Avec mon mari nous avons tout aimé dans ce havre de paix. La piscine est exceptionnelle. Le propriétaire et sa famille sont adorables. Les repas du midi et du soir vraiment très très bons. La chambre très propre et grande. Bref notre seul regret partir au bout de deux nuits. Un immense merci à vous pour votre accueil que nous n oublierons jamais et à tout ce que vous nous avez fait connaître 🫶

The resort was beautiful and artsy, and it was nice to bask in the peaceful environment. My room was large, spacious, and clean. It also smelled amazing when I walked in. I would say my room here was the best I've stayed in so far on my trip. I was not feeling my best when I arrived (no fault of the resort), and I feel like their fresh, home-cooked meals healed me. Their menu is limited; however, everything I ordered tasted amazing. Portions were also generous. The breakfast they provided was excellent and filling. And the tea! They served me tea almost every meal, which I loved. The host took me on a bike ride to the rice fields and showed me the start of the routes. He even offered to take photos of me with my phone, which I thought was very kind. The resort is farther from the town center, and there's not much to do nearby; however, you can arrange a taxi or take the bus. I chose to stay at the resort for my whole stay.

ארוחת בוקר דלה מאוד. לחם עם ביצה וחמאה אין באיזור מסעדות או משהו כזה, אז אוכלים בעיקר במקום. האוכל בסדר אבל לא מעבר. המזרון במיטה קצת קשה.

Établissement perdu au milieu des rizières en dehors de Mai Chau. Un vrai havre de paix. Déconnection totale assurée. La structure est très belle. Une superbe piscine pour se décontracter le soir après de longues marches dans les rizières. Possibilité de louer des vélos pour des balades aux alentours. De succulents repas et des hôtes très agréables et disponibles.

Petit bemol il manquait juste un petit frigo dans la chambre.

Alles, es war einfach ein wunderschöner Aufenthalt. Mitten in der Natur. Wir konnten vor Ort Mittag- und Abendessen, uns wurde dabei geholfen Touren zu planen, wir konnten Fahrräder ausleihen und die Gegend erkunden und haben viele Dinge über Vietnam beigebracht bekommen.

Accueil très chaleureux. Endroit sublime. Excellente nourriture: fruits et légumes provenant du potager. Le propriétaire nous a montré le début d’une ballade à vélo de l’hôtel au village de Buoc qui était magnifique je recommande ! Nous avons aussi adoré les petits chiots et le chien qui nous a suivi lors de notre promenade autour de l’hôtel. Nous avons très bien dormi. Je regrette seulement de ne pas avoir passé plus de temps sur place. Un tout grand merci.

L’emplacement : l’hôtel est situé à 30mn en bus de la ville À part des ballades à pied ou en vélo il n’y a rien à faire Pas de location de scooter Faire payer la location des vélos pour toute une journée alors que nous les avons utilisé 1h pour passer le temps en fin de journée Le prix de la nourriture Il y a un bus qui passe toutes les 30mn pour nous ok au départ mais le bus n’est jamais repassé dans l’autre sens, nous avons dû prendre un taxi. Je conseille cet hôtel à ceux qui veulent vraiment être tranquille bien que quand nous y étions un dimanche nous avons eu le karaoké + musique des voisins.

la struttura è curata in tutti i particolari. Le camere sono spaziose e si affacciano su ambienti naturali ben tenuti Tan ci ha dato indicazioni per apprezzare quello che il territorio offre. Si dorme bene e si mangia presso la struttura in modo genuino. Con le indicazioni del proprietario abbiamo passeggiato nelle zone vicine e con il taxi abbiamo conosciuto la maggior parte delle zone interessanti.

Das Bett hatte eine sehr harte Matratze, das Bad war einfach ausgestattet und beengt. Das Frühstück hatte keine Auswahlmöglichkeit. Die servierten Eier waren kalt, das Brot zäh. Auch beim Abendessen war die Qualität überschaubar, so war das gegrillte Fleisch nicht genießbar. Varianten zu der vorgeschlagenen Auswahl konnten nicht umgesetzt werden. Alternative Restaurants vor Ort sind nicht vorhanden.

Sehr schöner Ort zum Abschalten, sehr ruhig gelegen. Nicht touristisch, super nette Gastgeber. Das Essen ist sehr lecker.

The place is super quite. We were group of 2 families and we were staying alone in the entire place. Thang and the entire staff were amazing with the kids and took us around to show us their way of life. The rooms are nice and clean with cosmetics made by the host. We enjoyed it alot.

The place is a bit isolated and since it is very hot it was hard to wonder around and see the nature.

Nos alojamos una noche y el trato de todo el personal, especialmente de Tahn, fue maravilloso, nos hicieron la estancia realmente agradable. El hotel en sí cumplía con las expectativas, limpio, cómodo, tranquilo y en un entorno super bonito. Nos encantó la zona de la piscina. Muy recomendable.

This property is absolutely beautiful, the garden is very lush and everything was super tidy. The staff were very helpful and accommodating. The room was really cosy and clean and we had everything we needed. It is the perfect place to unwind and relax in a bit more of a secluded area. You can get a cheap 20 minute bus ride into town that picks you up and drops you off right outside the property.

I recommend coming here if you want to get away from busy areas, there isn’t a huge amount of things to do but we liked that as we went there to purely relax.

Unfortunately, we stayed only one night, but we still really enjoyed the beautiful location. What I loved the most was the large, stunning garden with a pool – it was truly a highlight. The owner kindly offered to show us around the area and shared lots of interesting information. Even though we communicated through Google Translate, it worked perfectly, and we really enjoyed the trip :-) During dinner, we were offered a taste of the local “happy water,” which added a fun and authentic touch to the experience. We definitely recommend this place!

Very warm and helpful staff/owner. Great breakfast. The owner helped us in guiding direction for our walk through the rice fields and helped our son with a small injury. The food is delicious and served very quickly. The facilities are great with a nice swimming pool. A small supermarket just around the corner. Mai Chau is an hour walking.

The beds are a bit hard .

Lovely place next to the rice fields with the owners always taking care of everything so you can enjoy. The provided bikes to cycle around the fields, we did a cooking class with them. The swimming pool is very nice and the food very good.

Loved the calm and quiet here and the garden full of flowers and greenery. Great to be able to walk and use bikes to explore the extensive paths between the rice paddies.

We loved the peace and tranquillity and the countryside setting. The staff and owners were very helpful. The bike riding through the rice fields was fabulous.

The beds were pretty hard to sleep on. We had to pay cash here no card facilities so upon check out we had to go into town 20min trip each way to get to the nearest a.t.m.

Our stay here was absolutely perfect, it was so peaceful with an absolutely lovely room, such beautiful surroundings and truly the kindest hosts🫶 We really enjoyed cycling through the rice paddies and exploring the gorgeous surroundings. I’d love to come back in the future!

We live in Hanoi and this has become our regular "go to" out of the city. It's a perfect environment: comfortable, relaxed, far from other tourist locales and with PLENTY to see in the area. Food's great, people are wonderful.

Just the streets outside the property which could do with a bit of a cleanup to enhance the resort.

A very difficult place to review. It’s astonishingly beautiful, with extensive stunning grounds and an amazing vegetable garden. The cycling from the door out through the rice fields is matchless, with a paved road that goes for miles. Every day home cooked food is served, made with ingredients from the gardens. In the evenings it’s gorgeously lit and very tranquil. 10/10.

Despite the positives there were also some things that could be problematic. Yes, the food is delicious and plentiful, but you have no say in what is served. We were given a vegan meal, a meat hot pot and a fish dish. Fine with us-but maybe not for others. It’s all beautifully kept, but there was a dog that dripped blood everywhere for the 3 days of our stay. We arrived and were given no information whatsoever. The bill has to be paid in cash so you need to take plenty of money. But overall these issues are small compared with the beauty of the place.

The property, the garden design the location, the fresh vegetables. Absolutely beautiful place. The fire pit.

No hot water, no heating. It was very cold at night and in the morning ( December 2024) and I was ill so felt very fragile. No vegan or vegetarian and nothing in the town. I notified them well in advance but they didn’t make any effort. Just be aware they fry everything in pork fat. So couldn’t eat fried stuff. We found this out whilst in their kitchen. I sent them a message about pick up and they didn’t respond. They asked us where we were when I had no internet access when we were lost. They didn’t pick us up either some random stranger found us walking miles away as the coach dropped us in the wrong place. I had to cut my own fruit in the morning for breakfast. We were starving so left early to Minh Binh which was wonderful for vegan and vegi options and so much to do. My husband taught the chef at Mai Chau to make potato omlette for vegetarians so you may be lucky they will be able to make it for you. They obviously cook traditional Vietnamese food so if you’re ok with meat you’ll love it. Bring thermals for night time. It really is a beautiful venue!

Mai Chau Valley Retreat was a fantastic place where nothing was too much trouble. The staff were very attentive to any requests we made and always had a smile to greet us. The grounds of the home stay were amazing with beautiful countryside all around. We loved that almost all of the ingredients they used for our meals were from their own garden which you could view from the restaurant area. All the meals we had were well presented and exceptionally good. You can hire bikes, motorbikes and taxis whilst there for a very reasonable rate. Our favourite thing to do was a cycle ride around the immediate area. We would definitely recommend Mai Chau Valley Retreat to anyone visiting this amazing area.

We loved everything. The only thing that we hadn’t understood is that even if you have booked it with Booking.com the accommodation cost has also got to be paid in cash at the end of the stay.

The place is serene and beautiful, in a peaceful valley, surrounded by mountains and stunning rice fields. The staff are helpful and friendly and the food is top-notch. We recommend a guided tour with Thanh: he’s a local and seems to know everyone and everything in the area. We live in Hanoi and will be making this our regular retreat from the city.

The location was perfect!! So quite and relaxing and really in the centre of a local Vietnamese town with very few tourists. The pool was lovely and view was stunning, the food was incredible! All from the local area and garden and cooked so well. We had an amazing relaxing stay here :) doing yoga, relaxing, exploring with bikes and eating well!

I can wholeheartedly recommend this place. A true oasis. The owner and his team are really amazing hosts that will make you feel very welcome and are eager to show you around the area. The area hosts a large number of tropical plants, artwork and many little details and surprises. Our double room was very spacious, clean, with a very high roof, fan as well as AC. You can rent bicycles from the place and there is plenty to see in the vicinity. Even though the place is a bit further away than the Mai Chai main town, it was a very good decision as you are also away from the more touristy parts, surrounded by rice fields and nature, and you can buy groceries in the nearby village if needed. Also, there's a public bus to the Mai Chau town every 15 minutes or just take a taxi. Having read some of the comments from some years ago it is clear that there have been several improvements, e.g. the pool is perfectly clean, and there are several food options you can select.

My second stay at this little nature radiation earth. I’ll definitely come back again!

We loved the location and the facilities. The Retreat is a small and cozy accommodation, run mainly by the owner and her family. The room was clean, the pool was lovely and the restaurant was amazing! We couldn't choose the food however we were able to inform about allergies, intolerances and food we don't like. Everything we received was local, delicious, and made with love. The best food we ate during our holidays in Vietnam. We did a ride in the rice fields, partially accompanied by the owner's brother, and it was a nice quick tour. A quiet stop in the middle of Mai Chau, made special by the people running this place!

Mai Chau Valley Retreat is such a beautifully and lovingly cared for place, you can feel the care and attention that has gone into it in every corner. It's really a beautiful part of the world. On the first day of our stay, 4 out of 5 of us had food poisoning brought over from a food tour in Hanoi so the first day was a day of rest. The 2nd day, the last one of us got it so we lost 2 days due to sickness. The staff here were absolutely exceptional - the owner, Hang, was so wonderful and had such a beautiful soul. She gave us everything to make us feel better - cooked herbs, teas, specific foods to help the stomach recover and the one thing that didn't taste great but worked was burnt rice tea which cleared us up the next day. This attentiveness and care is rarely seen in Europe but is something I have experienced in Vietnam often, having said that, Hang and her staff went above and beyond. A delightful place, with wonderful.people in a stunning part of Vietnam. We will be back, fitter and healthier.

We went to Mai Chau in the local bus and they walked us down to the bus stop and told the driver where to drop us off. Very generous people. They don't speak english but with google is easy to communicate. I would stay again 😊

Stunning location, beautiful pool, amazing cycling routes through the rice paddies nearby (the owner can take you to scenic places if you rent bikes from them). The food was great on some evenings/mornings and it was ok the other times.

My friends booked a room with a slightly different name to our room, plus it was more expensive, but we ended up getting the same room type. This wasn’t a huge deal but it caused confusion at first, especially because of the language barrier, and I don’t know if either them or us ended up getting a different room to what we paid for. One of the dogs that lives there barked outside our room for hours in the middle of the second night we stayed there.

Absolutely worth the trip from Hanoi! You can get dropped off in the middle of relaxing heaven, a bit removed from the more touristy parts of Mai Chau, and it’s gorgeous. Rent bikes from the owners and just explore unhindered (no guide needed). We had three kids (9,12,15) and the loved it. The food is delicious. Eat all meals there. Puppies are legit.
