Amazing stay! The location is amazing and allows us to explore the Great Wall without crowds. The hosts were extremely welcoming and kind, helping us and giving advice on where to visit. Amazing food cooked by the hosts with vegetables from their garden, which made it very fresh and tasty. One of the bests stays of my trip. I definitely would recommend to anyone wishing to visit the great wall!

If you are looking for an authentic place, with amazing food, great pool, lovely quiet village and within walking distance of a beautiful unrestored section of the great wall, then look no further! Cheng Cheng really looked after us, what a lovely host. Unfortunately we didn’t get to meet Angela and their kids as they were in Beijing for the week for school. We loved this place, also there was 2 more rooms booked at the same time with some lovely people we connected with. My 13 and 15 year old absolutely LOVED it here! The adorable kittens were a great bonus and got cuddles all day long from us. This section of the great wall doesn’t receive hardly any tourists, we only ever saw 1 touring bus in the huuuge empty parking lot. And a handful of people, if any. The entrance is so close, you can just nip up there in 15 min for sunrise or sunset, whatever you like. I really didn’t want to do the beijing day trip with thousands of tourists, I am so happy we found this place!

We didn’t get to meet Angela and their kids. She was so kind and helpful getting is there. She can even speak some English.

We had an absolutely wonderful two-night stay here with our two children. The homestay was spotless, very comfortable, and perfectly suited for families, with plenty of games and activities for kids — our children even ended up playing with the hosts’ children, which created some truly special memories. The hosts were exceptionally kind and helpful throughout our stay. They helped us organize everything for our visit to the Great Wall, including an unforgettable hiking day ending directly at the homestay. They also assisted us with transportation, meals, and many practical details that made the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. A special mention goes to the food: breakfast, lunch, and dinner were all absolutely outstanding — generous, homemade, and delicious, prepared by the host, who is clearly a fantastic cook. We even had the chance to cook together and share great moments playing foosball and table tennis. The location itself is also incredible: a beautiful and well-preserved part of the Great Wall area, far from the overcrowded tourist spots. We highly recommend this place to anyone looking for an authentic and memorable experience.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay! Everything was spotlessly clean and very well maintained, which made us feel comfortable right away. The atmosphere was incredibly warm and welcoming. Everyone was so friendly and genuinely kind, making us feel completely at home. The host was fantastic, and the man of the house is an amazing cook. We truly loved the food! We also received excellent information about visiting the Great Wall, which helped us have an unforgettable and truly fantastic day. On top of that, we spent an afternoon and evening in Gubei Water Town, which also a nicel experience. Overall, this was an outstanding stay and we would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable and authentic experience!

One small point for improvement: the rooms were already very clean upon arrival, but they were not serviced during our stay. This was a minor detail and did not affect our experience.

В доме Анжелы мы провели одни из лучших своих дней в Китае (несмотря на то, что в это время было сильнейшее наводнение). Огромное спасибо Анжеле за ее помощь и отзывчивость. Она прекрасно говорит по-английски, ее муж - через приложение на смартфоне. После того, как водный город отменил нашу бронь из-за затопления, мы решили вернуться к Анжеле. Мы прекрасно погуляли по всем находящимся в пешей доступности частям Великой Китайской стены (дома у Анжелы есть прекрасный план о том, как куда можно добраться). В городе (у ворот в храм) есть потрясающий магазин с фруктами и где можно купить детские подгузники. Муж Анжелы готовит просто божественно и очень помогает всем гостям. Рекомендую обязательно заказывать завтрак, обед и ужин у них. Тогда у вас будет настоящий гастрономический тур! Кровать в номере просто ОГРОМНАЯ. Я никогда таких не видел. Вся семья Анжелы очень бережно относились к нашей полуторогодовалой малышке. Спасибо вам огромное. Если я решу купить дом в Китае, то обязательно буду жить рядом с Анжелой, чтобы иметь возможность стать другом ее семьи.

The family is a wonderful host with amazing food, very spacious and clean rooms and perfect location for the Wall-Entrance. A perfect place to relax, to hike and to enjoy the scenery and nature. Very highly recommended!

They helped us a lot organising our visit at the Great wall including all transfers. The dinner was delicious and our kids loved the pool and the football table.

Wow. This place is magical and the hosts are SO lovely. They make everything possible. I was initially unsure whether I’d be able to do a self-guided tour to the Great Wall but it couldn’t have been easier. First you take the train to Gubeiko and they’ll pick you up there with a sign with your name. They feed, water and drive you the whole time all at a very good price. The accommodation is very comfortable and the WiFi is super strong. I’m a digital nomad so work while I’m away and the WiFi was strong enough for video calls. Stronger than in Beijing. You can easily walk from here to the Great Wall. I did a whole day hiking from here. You can hike from the restored section in Jinshaling to here as a 6 hour hike taking in both the restored section and the unrestored section of the Great Wall. It’s an incredible walk that’ll leave you so so happy! They even helped me sort a problem with my mobile, which I massively appreciated. I’d stay here again in a heartbeat.

Super séjour dans cette famille ! La cuisine est excellente avec les légumes du jardin. Je n'ai jamais aussi bien mangé en Chine, La chambre est très grande et très propre. Le propriétaire est adorable, il m'a très bien conseillée pour visiter la muraille dont l'entrée pour la partie non rénovée est toute proche. Ensuite il propose ses services de taxi pour visiter la partie rénovée. Situé hors du village on profite du calme et de la piscine après une longue journée de marche.

Very good location for me. Just a few minutes walk to PANLONG Great Wall Scenic Area. I could see Simatai Great Wall from the ROOF TERRACE. The vegetable gardens. I could pick the vegetables that I like and Mr. Chang Cheng would cook them to my liking. He is very accommodating and caring. He arranged for a car to pick me up at a village after I got lost at the end of my hike. I even play TABLE FOOTBALL and CHINESE CHESS with him. Gubei Water Town is less than 15 minutes drive by car. The Gubeikou Train Station is 10 minutes away by car. The Driver whom he assigned met me very promptly upon my arrival. Lastly he arranged for the same Driver to send me to Beijing Capital Airport from the Homestay. Thank You Chang Cheng for a wonderful stay.

During my stay I could not watch TV due to some maintenance work in the area.

This was my second stay in this quest house and the owners have modernised the place by renovating the rooms and bathrooms. The rooms are spacious and the beds were very comfortable. The Wifi works very well. The accommodation is literally at the entrance of The Gubeikou Great Wall and only a short 10 min hike away. But the best part of our stay were the friendly hosts. Angela speaks very good English and communicates very well via messages beforehand and her husband Chen Is such a friendly guy who makes sure that your stay will be unforgettable. His cooking skills are the best. Highly recommended!

Everything , I’m writing this from the train station about to leave . The setting is perfect to go around the multiple parts of the Great Wall , there is one unrestored a short walk from the hotel . Honestly this place and its people are amazing . You will feel at home, they arrange everything for you and the food is delicious. It feels like home .

That I had to leave

It's a miracle that we could find such a paradise during May holidays We barbecued on the first day and had their sweet and sour fish and chicken stewed mushrooms on the second day. All the mushrooms and wild vegetables there are picked in the mountains or home-grown. We will definitely come back here next time we are back home. This is definitely the place to go if you wish to get away from the downtown area.

Everything, the family, the food, the location! It was during May labour day holiday time and it was so quiet there. We almost had the great wall to ourselves! We will def come back again!

This property is a little gem. Just a 15 minutes walking distance from the Panlongshan section of the Great Wall, it gives you the chance to experience the sunset and sunrise on the Great Wall, and from there to reach the Jinshanling track from the West gate. But logistics is only one part of the story. The family who runs the inn is just unbelievable welcoming and helpful. They fetched me at Gubeikou station, came to pick me up after the hike, and even prepared a delicious breakfast and packed lunch for my hike. On the top of this, the quality of the room is exceptionally high. Fully equipped and very nicely decorated. A 5 star stay, that’s for sure.

In my opinion its people who always make a place -- the owners (the whole family - Angela, her husband, two daughters and mother-in-law) are extremely kind, generous, helpful and funny!

I cannot recommend this property enough. The family who run the property were so helpful, kind and generous. They went out of their way to help us- booking transport and catering meals, making recommendations for our trip. To get here, we took the bus from Beijing to Gubeikou Water town and stayed 2 nights here, then took the train from Gubeikou back to Beijing. The couple cooked us vegetarian dinner, breakfast and made us packed lunches for our day hike along the wall. Delicious homemade Chinese food! The property is so conveniently located to access three parts of the Great Wall: Pandong is 5mins walk, Jinshaling is 20-30mins by car and Gubeikou water town is 15mins by car. The hosts helped us organise transport to the property and plan our visit to the wall. Translation was no problem- we used WeChat translate and Google translate to communicate. And we used AliPay to pay for everything while we were there. There was a fussball table, scooters and skateboard toys for our daughter to play on whilst we were at the property too.

This place is A-MA-ZING! No words can describe how friendly, helpful, joyful and kind the hosts are. The homestay is located at an amazing place. The rooms are comfortable and clean, the food is a real feast and the hospitality is like nowhere else. Please pay them a visit and have the same great experience like we did.

Brilliant accomodation, incredibly close to a beautiful, remote part of the wall. the hosts were fantastic and extremely responsive to our needs (especially as we had to cut our trip short due to the rain). we also felt very comfortable staying there as a gay couple!

We really enjoyed our stay here! The owner was really helpful - we missed the train in Beijing, so she helped us with an alternative route. When we arrived, we had dinner with vegetables from their own garden, and the next morning after breakfast she had prepared a lunch package to take on our hike to the wall. The location is really convenient, just a 10 min walk to one of the entrances near Gubeikou. You can choose to walk only there (already great) or pass to the Jinshanling area as well. The rooms where comfortable as well. Would definitely recommend!

Easiest recommendation I've ever made. This family owned Inn is just perfect to me. The hosts are extremely caring and generous, the food is delicious, the Inn is located in a quiet area, very close to the Great Wall. You truly feel taken care of with tasty home made dishes, car transportation to places you wish to visit, and a genuinely warm-hearted owner (and his lovely son we had the chance to meet as well). Comfort is good, everything is clean, and the rooms are spacious. Great experience, we really felt at home and we will never forget our stay here !

A great place to stay to visit the great wall and experience a peaceful Chinese village. The entrance to the great wall is just a short walk. This section of the great wall is so quiet that we have the whole place to ourselves. It is also not very restored so you get to see some of the original wall. They also cooked fresh food from their garden for us. I have been to Beijing twice and did all the major tourist spots. I have to say staying here and hiking the wall in peace is my best Beijing experience.

Chung Chung and his family were beautiful hosts. They provided a warm and friendly and clean and comfortable place to stay with amazing authentic home cooked food.

Can't recommend this place enough! The location is great - you can get to the great wall with a short walk. The food was really tasty and the rooms were clean and felt new. Angela arranged for us to be picked up and dropped off further along the wall. Everything was reasonably priced.

We like this place, the location is very good, walk to the Great Wall very close. We have a very surprised breakfast, very rich dinner. Employees are also great, communication is easy. Help us arrange the car here, the price is cheap, mainly very convenient. It is worth recommending.
