Green House Yala

We had a wonderful stay! The host and his entire family were incredibly sweet, kind, and welcoming, and they made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. The accommodation was very clean, comfortable, and equipped with air conditioning. Our host was also our safari driver and took us on an amazing safari in Yala National Park. It was a fantastic experience, and we were even lucky enough to spot leopards! We highly recommend staying here and definitely booking the safari with him as well. His hospitality and the whole experience made our visit to Yala truly special and unforgettable.

Niets prima prijs kwaliteit verhouding!

De gastheer was heel vriendelijk. We werden ontvangen met een lekker drankje en gelijk afgesproken om de dag erop de hele dag op safari te gaan. De eigenaar heeft een eigen jeep en kent Yala National Park heel goed. Ontbijt in het park gegeten en ook daar de lunch gedaan. We hebben heel veel dieren gezien, inclusief 5 leopards, 2 sloth Bear, olifanten, krokodillen. Het mooie is dat hij echt de tijd ervoor neemt, niet gehaast is en een respectvolle afstand tot de dieren houdt.

De kamer heeft alleen een ventilator, geen airco.

It was a great location and close to the beach for after Yala activities. I booked my tour to Yala with Santha’s small business and we had a fabulous day! He knew all the best spots and took his time when we were observing all the wildlife. Incredible!

We actually stayed next door at Jungle Lodge, which belongs to the same family. Champa, who owns Jungle Lodge, was a fantastic hostess and great cook. Green House took us on safari and that was very good. Saw 2 leopards, elephants and lots of birds. Really lovely people.

We had a short but lovely stay here. Santha and his family were so welcoming, making us tea and breakfast for our safari, which they can take you on themselves. The room is spacious and you can hear the sound of nature around you. We found all the locals in Kirindi to be especially warm and friendly.

The only thing I can think of is that the shower didn’t get hot, but in the Sri Lankan heat it really wasn’t an issue at all!

Santha was very kind, I booked last minute and the room was made up when I got there. It was a big space with no AC but a large fan. The location is near some other accommodations, all within walking distance to a few restaurants and stores. There was a nice balcony and Santha took me and a few others from another hostel on the safari the next day.

I did get a bit hot at night, but I had closed all of the windows and I'm just used to AC. The beach is about 20 minutes away and I got a weird vibe walking there and around the town, although that's unrelated to the accommodation.

Nous avons adoré notre séjour chez Santa, La chambre est très spacieuse et confortable, C’était très propre et nous avons été super bien accueilli. La gentillesse de Santa et son fils ont rendu notre séjour vraiment agréable. Santa est également guide pour le Park de Yala et il nous a fait passé une superbe journée safari. Je vous recommande de passer par lui pour le safari vous ne serez pas déçu !

Didnt think that there might ve accomodations without a/c, but it was my mistake, didnt pat too kuch attention this time

In a quiet area with good access to Yala National Park block one. Santha the owner has a jeep and does great value safaris with a delicious breakfast and lunch thrown in. This would be a key reason to book this accommodation. The staff are helpful and the room is simple but clean. Santha’s sister down the food does delicious food.

Lack of hot water but as the weather is mostly hot this isn’t too bad.

La familia que nos alojó fueron muy amables. Nos prepararon un desayuno local muy rico! La habitación era muy grande y espaciosa.

We spent two nights there, we rent 2 rooms who means we had the entiere house for us, just next to their house, the rooms was clean and spacious. The house is exeptionally located, near yala N.P. The friendly owner prupose safari, he's a passionate worker, he'll take all time you need to capture some best moment of your life in yala. And he knows perfecty his job. I strongly recommand you to go there !!

Santha est un propriétaire remarquable, chambre très propre avec fan et petite terrasse privative. Le petit déjeuner inclus est très bon. Omelette fruit toast confiture et beurre. Vous pouvez aussi déjeuner et dîner. Santha propose de vous emmener faire le safari avec sa propre jeep. On l’a fait et on ne le regrette pas. Santha essaie de ne pas suivre les autres jeeps et s’applique à rechercher les animaux. Nous avons vu éléphants, chacals, aigles, crocodiles….et le fameux léopard !!!! Toujours bienveillant et aux petits soins pour vous faire plaisir ! Je recommande vivement

The place is clean,comfortable with spacious room,terrace and nice bathroom. The family was very nice and helpful. We had the Safari experience with Santha and it was great,we really enjoyed it. The breakfast was typical sri lankan - very tasty.

The only thing that bothered us were noises during the night - barking dogs and cars,scooters.

saubere Unterkunft mit sauberer Wäsche. Während unserem dreitätigen Aufenthalt wurde sogar unser Bett frisch angezogen und die Handtücher ausgetauscht. Leckeres Frühstück. Sehr freundliche Gastgebende und ptaktisches Angebot die Safari direkt mit dem Gastgeber zu machen.

Personen mit Angst vor kleinen Fröschen (nur im Badezimmer) sollten sich einen Aufenthalt zweimal überlegen. Es lebte sich aber entspannt mit ihnen:)

Santha and his family were so lovely and warm. The location is great for safari and checking out some of the beautiful beaches nearby that are basically empty. We did the safari with Santha too and loved it. We are both ecologists and Santha was very knowledgable about all the animals and also knew all the tricks for getting the best out of the safari without the 4am start! Highly recommend

Kirinda is very small. We enjoy bird watching and had nice weather so found it enjoyable but dont come expecting a busy town.

Santha and his family were amazing hosts, and he did a great job of taking us around Yala on safari. He has been a guide for over 20 years so has so much knowledge of the park and animals and where to find them.

I had booked 1 room at Green House Yala however when we reached Mr. Santha informed me that the previous guest extended their stay so there was no rooms available at his Homestay however he managed to accommodate me at his sisters homestay which was equally good at the same price. His sister als was very friendly and down to earth. She made lovely breakfast for me - Fruit plate, string hoppers, black coffee, bananas, potatoes stew and King Coconut water. Breakfast was part of the package She made dinner on request for me - Chicken gravy, rice, 4 varieties of vegetables, papdam etc it was equally tasty and I requested to make it non spicy for me. Overall I loved my stay at her Homestay known as Vihaga Regency Yala.

There was no hot water however nothing to complain about since it was so hot in Yala and the Jeep Afternoon Safari called for taking a cold shower to cool down your body.

A good place to stay if you are planning on doing a safari in Yala as it is not far away from the national park. The owner has his own safari truck and we booked a day tour with him. It was a fantastic experience! The facilities are good the family are very welcoming.

The town/city of Kirinda is on the smaller size so there isn’t much to do besides safari and visit the beach.

Santha and his family were very nice, friendly and helpful. The room was quite spacious, clean and well equipped. Santha took us on a safari in Yala, gave us very good tips for our stay and made sure that we feel good there. I definitely recommend!

Beautiful and super spacious room and bathroom with cute balcony, Santa the owner and his family were so friendly, it felt like we were really welcomed. The house if very pretty, the view on the garden and rice fields as well. Perfect location if you go on a safari. Santa does safari too for a much better price than what we had already booked so it might be worst a try if you’re into these things.

Shower needs more pressure and we couldn’t figure out if there’s hot water or not. (I don’t mind if there’s no hot water, I just want to know so I don’t search everywhere) Still, definitely worth a stop!!

It’s right next to the yala Nationalpark so perfect for all kinds of safaris. In addition it’s really quiet and the whole family is lovely. Santha is an amazing host with really great experience in safaris. If you want to see the yala Nationalpark with a great local guide he is your man.

Great location for Yala Safari. The house is a 20-25min walk to Kirinda beach and less than 5 min to a shop with water, fruit and snacks. We stayed to do a 12hr safari with Santha the host which was very fairly priced and really enjoyable. Very generous breakfast and lunch on safari. Way more than we could eat. The room is clean and basic but provided what we needed. Lovely seating area outside the room to relax in the garden with some lovely plants.

The fan in the room is very noisy on the highest setting and not strong enough on the 2nd highest. Kirinda is extremely humid so a decent fan is essential. Of course the host cannot control the weather. Property was a little difficult to find as there is no sign but we should have asked beforehand for exact directions.

Had a very nice stay here, the owner and his family are lovely and the room was perfect. Breakfast was great and was generally very nice and helpful!

The host was amazing with the flexible check-in and check-out, there is a continental breakfast included, the safari tour he offered was much cheaper than the others and we scheduled the time and he really tried for me to have the best experience. For one-two night stay it is great. Close to this accommodation is Cafe Culture - very good service, “European” looking - so if you want a change in food and setting of restaurants, go for it!

There is actually not so many things to do except for the safari. It has the village vibe - many stray dogs, not so many tourists, beach is kind of ugly and I did not feel good there.

Santha apologies for the late reply.... What to say.. Exceptional people, exceptional place, amazing We both liked everything about Yala, Santha (the owner)and his family are a Gem. We stayed an extra two days because we wanted to go on a Safari, because we had found out that the main the entrance was shut due to heavy rains, this was out of control of all the tour guides. Santha advised us that there was another entrance that should be open soon, so we waited. It was worth the wait and I am glad that we changed our original plans and stayed the extra two days. Santha took every step to advise us, we were able to go on a Safari with Santha.. I would defiantly recommend a tour with Santha in his Safari Jeep. As mentioned in the previous review the Safari was brilliant. Santha will advise you and recommend that you do a day Safari. I would highly recommend that you do a day Safari (it is worth every penny spent), do not do a half day Safari , there is so much to see in the Yala National Park and Santha will try his hardest to find wildlife and drive you too some beautiful places. Thank you so much for lovely Safari again. Breakfast and meals are lovely, Breakfast fills you up for the day.. Thank you for the Beers Saratha, it was lovely talking to you as well... he takes his time getting know his guests, his children are a gem, always polite and helpful a credit to you Santha and your wife. What made this even more special, was that we stayed over the Christmas period. In the after noon of Christmas Eve while we were having a rest, his children secretly put up some Christmas decorations outside (lights and a Merry Christmas sign), this touched my heart - so special and thoughtful. There is nothing not to like about this, everything for us was perfect.

Little simple house in the garden of the owner's house, who can also take you for the safari ride with his own car. If you prefer to experience the local life to staying in a sterile hotel, this is the right choice! The owner and his kids are very nice and friendly! We enjoyed our stay and the safari.

Everything, We arrived in the evening and was met by Santha, what a lovely person. We had a lovely cup of tea and and nice cold beer later. All the previous reviews are true to the word. A lovely and beautiful place to stay. His family are beautiful too. Always there to help. Breakfast is lovely too. Santha is a lovely host. As promised Santha took us on a safari in Yala national park,again an exceptional experience. We saw elephants, leopards and crocodiles to name some of few animals. Lunch was provided.. lovely lunch. If you are coming to Kirinda to visit The National park, I would recommend Santha, he takes his time to find animals and allows you time to watch them. He is an expert in his field. Thank you for a beautiful day out. Every time we have come back we have been greeted with lovely cup of tea. Dinner is very good. Thank you Santha and to your family for making us feel most welcome. We still have another day left and will be sad to leave such a lovely place.

Santha is an exceptional host, he really does his best to satisfy your needs. The little Green house is clean and lovely, it has its own terrace and garden. The full day safari was something I will remind for the rest of my life. Leopards, elephants, buffaloes, crocodiles, deers, thousands of birds... and such a beautiful nature!
