Words cannot describe how amazing this trip was. Sheshan was the greatest host. He is so detail oriented. He had everything arranged for us including taxis. At the Safari he had everything ready in advance so we got to cut the line, which is a big deal. The room was so cute. Our dinner was absolutely fantastic! I was expecting a basic lunch and breakfast for the Safari, not even close. It was a meal dad would prepare for you. It blew my mind. For lunch they set up a table cloth. We were the only table with a table cloth. We had a whole curry meal. I cannot say enough good things about this place. I was sad to leave.

The room is comfortable cool and clean with mini fridge and kettle. The property is nearby to the beach easy walking access. Beach was lovely and clean. shahan the host has gone to every effort to make the stay comfortable and the level of service and attention to detail was better than many 5* hotels. The breakfast and dinner were delicious with great choice . Lastly Shahan took us in safari to yala as our guide and was a great host and spotter for this , with excellent knowledge of the area and wildlife.

Wir durften zwei wundervolle Tage in dieser Unterkunft verbringen und sind immer noch begeistert. Das Zimmer war super sauber und gepflegt – man hat sich sofort wohlgefühlt. Klimaanlage, WLAN und die Dusche haben einwandfrei funktioniert, alles war top in Schuss. Das Frühstück war einfach fantastisch und richtig üppig. So gestärkt in den Tag zu starten war herrlich. Ein weiterer Pluspunkt: In nur 2 Minuten zu Fuß erreicht man einen menschenleeren, traumhaften Strand. Perfekt zum Entspannen! Ein riesiges Dankeschön an Shehan – seine Gastfreundschaft ist einfach herausragend. Er war unglaublich fürsorglich, dabei aber nie aufdringlich. Besonders beeindruckt hat uns sein Wissen über die heimische Tierwelt. Er hat sich viel Zeit genommen, um mit uns angeln zu gehen – ein unvergessliches Erlebnis. Und das Abendessen: Ehrlich gesagt das beste, was wir in ganz Sri Lanka gegessen haben! Mit so viel Liebe und Können gekocht. Wir wünschen Shehan von Herzen alles Gute für sein neues Projekt. Wer eine Unterkunft mit Herz, Seele und echtem Sri-Lanka-Feeling sucht, ist hier genau richtig. Wir kommen definitiv wieder!

We had a wonderful stay at Kingfisher Beach Resort. The resort is located right next to a beautiful beach, which made the whole experience even more relaxing and enjoyable. Shehan was an amazing host — very welcoming, helpful, and always kind. The rooms were very nice and spotless, and the breakfast served on the terrace every morning was absolutely delicious. Everything felt peaceful and well taken care of. We truly wish we could have stayed longer and would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the area.

What can we say? An unexpected and memorable stay here in this super comfortable room where we were thoroughly spoiled from beginning to end. Shehan, you are the perfect host and think of everything! Highlights of our short stay included walks along this stunning beach, the jeep trip to the safari where Shehan expertly and respectfully located so many beautiful animals including the pinnacle of the sightings – the majestic Lucas the leopard – and his queen too. We also saw a cobra! Finally the food! What culinary delights – the coffee cake on arrival – the beautifully cooked lobster and red snapper with elegant salad and rice – and a breakfast worthy of a 5* restaurant. All round top class! There's nothing not to like!

Wow, what an amazing experience at Shehan's lovely property. Shehan was such an excellent, attentive host from the start to the end of our stay, we had such a great time. His home cooked food was amazing with Red Snapper on the menu a particular favourite. The room we stayed in had everything we wanted, including AC, and a very comfy bed! Shehan took us on a whole day safari to nearby Yala National Park where, with his expertise, we were able to escape the rest of the jeeps and felt as if most of the time we had the park to ourselves. He was able to show us all the wonderful wildlife that Yala has to offer and we were lucky enough to see a leopard as well as lots of elephants up close plus huge crocodiles and many other animals and birds. He provided a wonderful breakfast and a great spread for lunch, the whole day is something we will remember for a long time. Thank you Shehan!

There was nothing that we didn't like!

An amazing host, property, restaurant, safari and experience. We were lucky enough to stay with Shehan recently and experience true Sri Lankan hospitality. Shehan (the owner) showed us the local area, took us to a nearby quiet beach and then to local viewpoints where we could see the sunset and locals fishing. The room was spotless and really clean, well functioning AC and preventative measures for bugs. The cooking is also amazing! Restaurant quality on your doorstep, with excellent choice and always fresh. We also opted to use Shehan for a safari, where he again was an amazing host, talking through everything we could see in the park, keeping away from crowds and genuinely caring for the park/animals. He also prepared an unreal breakfast and lunch. Whilst on our stay, we also managed to meet some of his wider family of which was a nice touch and made you feel at "home" We highly recommend Shehan and Kingfisher, a must for anyone exploring Sri Lanka. Great location, right next to the beach and close to the safari park. Very clean room with everything you need. The owner Shehan is absolutely amazing and goes beyond expectations to make your stay perfect. We booked the safari with him too and it was great! We had dinner at the hotel and it was very delicious and all made fresh by Shehan. Breakfast the next day was outstanding during the safari, and a special thanks for making gluten free pancakes for me, they were so good!

Shower water was only lukewarm and quite low pressure. Lots of mosquitoes around the property (none inside) so be prepared with repellant!

Shenan was an amazing host, always available. The food he cooked was delicious and fresh. We are still dreaming about the coconut pancakes, mango ice cream and cashew chicken. The room was clean and well equipped with everything you need. He made sure no insect entered our room. We also went on a safari with him, it was a great experience and the breakfast he prepared was again fresh and delicious. This is the place to stay for your trip to Kirinda-Yala national park.

Shehan was a wonderful host and made our stay feel easy and well looked after from start to finish. Everything was thoughtfully organised, and it was clear how much care he puts into the experience. The food was excellent throughout our stay. Both breakfast and lunch were beautifully prepared and generous, and every meal felt relaxed and unrushed. The quality and attention to detail really stood out. Our safari was the highlight of the trip. Shehan was very well organised, knew how to avoid the crowds, and made the day flow smoothly. One moment we’ll always remember was having coffee at the park gate as the sun was rising - we were the only ones there with a coffee, which felt like such a thoughtful and personal touch. It was the small details that made the difference, from the planning to the timing and the genuine hospitality. Die Unterkunft war sehr sauber und ist in wenigen Gehminuten vom Strand entfernt. Shehan ist ein wundervoller Gastgeber. Er war vor und auch während des Aufenthalts jederzeit erreichbar und hat von Fahrten über Safari bis hin zum fantastischen Essen alles für uns möglich gemacht. Shehan hat uns wohl mit dem besten Essen unserer Reise beglückt. Wir haben gemeinsam mit seiner Familie eine Safari gemacht. Aufgrund der Wetterlage mussten wir unsere Reispläne mehrfach ändern. Hier hat Shehan flexibel und großzügig reagiert.

Incredible stay! Shehan was the best host and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and our stay magical. Lovely, peaceful location with great facilities. All very comfortable and clean. Shehan took us on an amazing safari and prepared the best breakfast and lunch for it. All of the food during our stay was incredible in fact, some of the best we’ve ever tried. He was so helpful and friendly and we had the most wonderful time. Cannot recommend enough!

La camera era molto bella e c’era tutto quello di cui avevamo bisogno. Il proprietario è l’albergatore più attento che abbia mai conosciuto, cura ogni dettaglio del soggiorno dei suoi ospiti ed è uno chef eccezionale. Abbiamo mangiato benissimo tutti i pasti preparati da lui. Il pesce è eccezionale, i succhi buonissimi, anche i suoi sandwich sono imbattibili! Ci anche accompagnati a scoprire il parco Yala preoccupandosi di ogni nostro bisogno. Siamo stati felicissimi :) Stare qui è stata veramente un’esperienza eccezionale.

Shehan was a great host. The property was very comfortable, new, spotlessly clean, and so close to a beautiful beach. The food was great and nothing was too much trouble. Not only was Shehan a great host at the accomodation, he also led us on a wonderful full day safari. I’d heard mixed things about Yala, but decided to go for the full day with Shehan after reading reviews. We were not disappointed. He was amazingly organised, endless supplies of water, coke, tea, whatever you need. The lunch was fantastic, as was the breakfast he got up at 4am to prepare. Simple things, like having us buy park tickets online meaning you skip not only the ticket queue, but also have a shorter jeep queue at the entry, made a huge difference. Not many tourists seem to have a guide with such logical tips. We strayed far off the main path, which avoids queues in jeeps and is much more enjoyable. While one man cannot control the wildlife in Yala, he certainly can lead you on the most pleasurable and effective day in the park. Plus it was a pleasure to chat with. A lovely place, and host. Don’t hesitate. P.S remember. Wild animals in Yala are not under anyone’s control, and if you approach the day expecting a fun 4x4 trip with bonus animal sightings, you are less likely to be disappointed. Yala is beautiful whether you see a leopard or not. That being said, we managed to see 3 as luck was on our side.

Pokój czysty i wygodny, a atmosfera w całym obiekcie bardzo przyjazna. Na pewno wrócimy i zaplanujemy Safari w Yala Park z gospodarzem jako przewodnikiem, bo ma wspaniałą wiedzę i potrafi opowiadać o przyrodzie z pasją.

Brak uwag – wszystko spełniło nasze oczekiwania.

Vanaf het moment dat we aankwamen, voelden we ons méér dan welkom. Host Shehan ontving ons met een heerlijk verfrissend drankje en een geurig doekje. Een klein gebaar, maar zo doordacht, en tekenend voor hoe piekfijn tot in elk detail alles geregeld was tijdens ons verblijf. De accommodatie zelf was ronduit piekfijn: kraaknet, stijlvol ingericht en omringd door prachtige natuur. Over elk aspect was duidelijk nagedacht. Alles ademde rust, zorg en kwaliteit uit. Het eten was werkelijk van sterrenniveau – alsof we elke dag door een chef met een Michelinster werden verwend. Elke maaltijd was een smaaksensatie, bereid met liefde en lokale ingrediënten. Absoluut een hoogtepunt van ons verblijf! Wat dit verblijf écht bijzonder maakte, was de persoonlijke touch van Shehan. Hij nam de tijd om ons rond te leiden in het plaatselijke dorp Kirinda, waardoor we het échte leven konden ervaren. Als kers op de taart mochten we deelnemen aan zowel een boeddhistische als een hindoeïstische ceremonie, samen met zijn lieve vrouw, zoontje en vrienden van Shehan – een unieke en diepgaande ervaring die we nooit zullen vergeten. Voor een verfrissende duik konden we terecht op een leuk, rustig plekje aan zee, vlakbij het verblijf – perfect om te ontspannen na een dag vol indrukken. Kortom: een geweldige combinatie van luxe, authenticiteit en hartelijkheid. Een verblijf bij Shehan is niet zomaar vakantie, het is een beleving die je raakt. Shehan, we komen zeker nog eens terug! First of all we loved the location as it was near the ocean and also between 2 national parks so it was surrounded by nature. We absolutely loved Sheehan’s company and his amazing cooking and generosity. It was a pleasure to chat with him and explore his local area together too. The accommodation was clean and comfortable and very spacious.

The villas are spacious, lovely seating area outside. The place is nice and calm and the beach a few steps away is really beautiful and wild (even though in February the waves were too big to swim there, but the walks in the morning and evening were really nice there). We really enjoyed the breakfasts and especially dinners Shehan prepared for us, lovely seafood and fish paired with good wine which is rare in Sri Lanka. Shehan really took care of us and it felt like a home away from home.

The villas are all made of concrete so inside it does not have a very cosy atmosphere, but the patio and the rest of the property made up for that.

Shehan is truly one of a kind. From the moment we arrived, he went above and beyond in every possible way. The meals were out of this world, the best seafood and accompaniments we've had anywhere in Sri Lanka — all prepared with such care and flavour, it felt like dining in a five-star restaurant with the warmth of home. He catered to our every need with genuine kindness and grace, organising a breathtaking safari and even surprising us with a beautiful celebration for our 20-year anniversary. The attention to detail, the impeccable cleanliness, and the heartfelt service made our stay unforgettable. I recently stayed at Kingfisher Beach Resort, and it was an incredible experience! The resort is amazing, with clean and spotless rooms that are spacious and comfortable – plenty of room to relax. Everything is perfect

Shehan is an amazing host and a great cooker. All the food was really good, and he was always kind and helpfull, making our days super sweet. Anything you need, he will help you for sure. He also does safaris and has a SPA to relax. The villa has everything you will need and the bed is confy. You are close to the beach and have a natural pool close by. It's a really nice local place to stay and chill. We enjoyed a lot and remmend 100%. Looking forward to come back again some day.

An exceptional host , Shehan made our stay memorable . The room is spacious and well appointed - A/c, hot shower , hanging space etc with a shaded seating area outside. It’s located a couple of minutes walk from a beautiful beach surrounded by wildlife , and about 20 mins from the Yala National park entrance . Shehan is not only a kind and caring host and excellent chef , he is a great safari guide and we saw elephants , leopard amongst many others . He is knowledgable and so observant . I had the most incredible stay at Kingfisher Beach Resort, all thanks to Shehan’s outstanding hospitality! From the moment I arrived, he went above and beyond to make my experience unforgettable. First, let’s talk about Shehan’s cooking – it’s truly next-level! The seafood was the freshest I’ve ever had, cooked to perfection every single time. Every meal felt like a celebration of flavors, and it was an absolute highlight of my stay. The room was spotlessly clean, which is so hard to find these days. It felt like a home away from home, comfortable and cozy, with every detail thoughtfully taken care of. One of the highlights of my trip was the safari organized by Shehan. His deep knowledge of animals and birds made it an unforgettable experience. We were lucky enough to see a sloth bear and three leopards – memories that will stay with me forever. To top it all off, Shehan’s Ayurvedic massage was exactly what I needed to relax my mind and body after a long day of adventures. It was the perfect way to unwind and recharge. Very nice and new facilities just next to the beach. The host was very friendly and responsive. We also did the safari with him, he explained the animals and answered to our questions. He also arranged packed breakfast and lunch for us. He showed us around in the area and drove us to non-touristy beaches where locals would swim. The room was very clean and comfortable.

Overall it is quite expensive. A lot of mosquitoes in the area, use mosquito repellent! The beach, although very beautiful, is not suitable for swimming. Also, many stray dogs wandering around (although this is very common in many places in Sri Lanka).

Shehan is the most hospitable and kind host that we met in Sri Lanka. He went above and beyond to make us comfortable and show the area. Even better, he turned out to be the best guide you could wish for to see Yala national park ona private tour. He genuinely cared about our experience. Overall it exceeded our expectations that were already high because of the excellent reviews.

Location to the beach was very good. Shehan, the owner, was very attentive and couldn’t have done more to make our stay enjoyable. He is also an excellent chef and we had an outstanding meal of red snapper and lobster. Room was very clean and well looked after. Good attention to detail regarding room amenities. Safari was also booked for us to do in the morning.

Nice location - just few steps from the beach. Room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. AC was working great, hot water system also. Room has protection against insects, so nothing gets inside the room. Owner is super helpful, showed us the hotel, beach and surrounding area. He can also arrange the safari for you. There is a restaruant in the hotel serving tasty seafood (we had fresh lobsters). Definitely a great spot! Fully recommended for everyone!

Definitely the best food we had during our stay in Sri Lanka. The setting is absolutely beautiful. So tranquil and close to the beach. You can hear the sounds of the waves and see some lovely local wild life. This is a must stay if visiting Sri Lanka!

shehan taught us a lot about sri lanka. we were given the best food on our trip, and we could try all the local fruit. he came with us on safari and took is to the katharagama culture festival, which was very special. then, he even surprised my girlfriend with a cake for her birthday. he is the kindest human on earth and takes good care of his guests and the property. we were so happy!

If you plan to visit Yala national park, this will be great choice to stay. The accomodation is nice, clean snd 2 minutes from the beach. The owner has build it all by himself. He is super kind, helpful and the best cook! Really recommend to have dinner at his place - we had red snapper and it was delicious. He can also organise for you the safari tour.

The owner Sehan and his wife are exquisite and caring people, conforming to the European hotel tradition they welcome us with fresh Juice and cool towels, They have always helped us for the accommodation and choice of meals, however very well prepared and very welcome, to discover the local flavors. Here they really want the guest to feel at home, so much so that he seems to subjugate in a villa on the sea with butler available! The nearby beach is a few steps but the waves are perhaps too wild to swim, however it is the ideal scenario for photographs like advertising! In addition, a few kilometers, passed the village of Kirinda, there is another larger, quiet and enchanting beach. This quiet mini resort is strategic if really willing to visit the nearby Yala National Park. Infact, Sehan and the skilled driver Marduka organized us a comfortable and wonderful safari with great jeep for a whole day: started after the dawn we shot corners and blocks of Block 1, chased a multitude of animals, lunch abundantly and rested in a structure on an even more beautiful beach than the others and obviously met the famous Leopard! The property features paid airport shuttle service also. We found every price correct and fully rewarded by expectations. Despite the torrid heat when you go back to the room, which has 3 beds, you have all the space to regenerate: you sleep very well, a functioning and silent air conditioning, a large bathroom equipped with bathrobe-hygiene kit, with double and warm shower, along with free Wi-Fi and there is even a hairdryer. Outside the door there is a large space with table and seats as an alternative to the shed used for meals and a free parking area. In short, the Kingfisher Beach Resort managed by Sehan is highly recommended to fully enjoy this coastal area of Sri Lanka.

When you eat in the shed even the ant would like to participate :-)

The resort is beautiful as well as the location- right in front of the beach. The host is very hospitable and all services provided were perfect! They even arranged safari and transporation for us. The place was very clean.

The owner Sehan it is a lovely person! He helps in everything that he can and most!!! He really wants that the guest feels at home!!! He’s a great cook!!!we had the most amazing seafood cooked by himself!!! If you want to go to yala it is a great place to stay and he can arrange a visite to the park in a really nice jeep!! He even came with us!!! The resort it is really nice and because there is only one villa you have all the space for yourself!! Real comfortable the little villa with all the little details that you can imagine!! I highly recommend to satay there!!! Thanks a lot Sehan

I could fill an entire book with the positives of this experience. It was the most special night of our 10-night stay in Sri Lanka. Shehan (the owner/manager) is a truly exceptional host who will go above and beyond to show you a good time. There is only one bedroom at the resort, which means that Shehan can take his time in introducing you to the beautiful landscapes around this guesthouse. You can’t swim on the closest beach, but Shehan took us on a short Tuk Tuk ride to a beautiful, calm swimming beach with no other tourists around. We had seen photos of other guests cooking their own dinner and so requested a cooking lesson in advance. This was an amazing experience — Shehan, his cook and we prepared five curries and an excellent red mullet that Shehan had bought fresh that morning. Shehan also mixes a great cocktail! The final bill was more than fair. Shehan is a kind, generous host who has an incredible knowledge of Sri Lanka. This is a chance not just to stay in a lovely place but also to make a new friend. Shehan, thank you so much!

Beautiful house in a divine environment, you just hear the sound of the waves and the peacocks! Shehan the owner is super super nice and he became a friend he is a warm and giving host and a wonderful cook!

Very friendly and helpful host. He organized a safari to the Yala national park for us and even joined us as a guide, which was great! The food was amazing!! He even cooking us a traditional breakfast, which we very much enjoyed. There is only one apartment on the property, so it’s nice to relax and get away from the noise of the cities. The room was clean, spacious and the bed very comfortable. Can recommend!

It was great, nothing to complain. Just a minor idea for improvement: a menu for the food with prices would have been helpful.

We actually only wanted to stay for two nights, after realizing that the accommodation and Sehan's care was an absolute jackpot. We immediately extended it for as long as possible. he fullfilled all our wishes, food is the best we have ever had, shehan showed us the authentic life, excursions and all-round service like in a 5 star hotel. We will be back definitely. shehan cares 24/7 for the guests, it’s a quiet Place - the beach feels like you are stranded at a private Island

There is only one room, so you get all the attention from the host. He is a super friendly guy, who fulfills all your wishes. Breakfast and dinner are amazing and more than you can eat 😋 The beach is just a few steps away. It's absolutely beautiful and pieceful. We had a great time there. We do highly recommend this quiet place. And we also recommend going on Safari to Yala with the host's friend.

Kingfisher beach resort was marvelous. Our host shehan was such a lovely person offering true hospitality enjoying every minute he served us.A pleasure to stay in this calm place. Only a few minutes walk to the beach,which offers kilometers of sand for undisturbed rest, We were served a huge amount of breakfast according to our taste-fresh tropical fruits,Juice,Sri Lankan or western style…more that we could eat😊 The room always clean,the towel with a lovely smell. Located between two national parks we joined the recommended safari at Yala national park that exceeded our expectations .we observed a leopard,saw Elephants,crocodiles,water buffaloes,4 species of monkeys a variety of colorful birds and other little animals..!!! We could not expect more!!! A lifetime experience we will never forget-and recommend without doubt to everyone who how long do restful, calm and authentic stay in Sri Lanka’s south🙂 An overwhelming hospitality 😊
