Reviewed Sep 12, 2026De ligging van het hotel midden van de natuur en 5 minuten later sta je midden in Altstadt Salzburg. Ook het ontbijt was voortreffelijk.
Eigenlijk niets. Misschien hebben we toch wel een koffiezetapparaat gemist op onze kamer.

Reviewed Sep 11, 2026Petit déjeuner super. La propriété est grandiose. Vraiment un beau domaine, au calme. Dominant Salzburg, facile d'accès avec l'ascenseur. Par contre un peu étroit pour y arriver avec la moto !! Nous avons fini la soirée en buvant un verre dans le restaurant près de l'ascenseur sur la terrasse avec une vue magnifique de nuit sur Salzburg, avec toutes ses lumières. Nous serions bien restés un deuxième jour, mais hélas nous devions repartir !!! Ce sera pour une prochaine fois.

Reviewed Sep 11, 2026Mulle meeldis väga selle paiga rahu ja vaikus. Johannes Schlössl asub küll Salzburgi linna sees, ent kõrge mäe otsas looduspargis. Akna all krõpmsutasid hobused heina. Linna müra oli väga kaugel all. Söögisaal asub (vist) endises kirikusaalis ja seal valitses hommikusöögil samuti väga sulnis rahu - ei käinud muusika, ei olnud köögimasinate helisid, inimesed olid rahus. Töötajatega puutusin kokku vastuvõtus ja hommikusöögi ajal ning kõik kokkupuuted olid väga soojad, südamlikud, isiklikud, tähelepanelikud, lõõgastunud. Meeldivad, head inimesed. Tundsin end hoitult.
Kõik vastas täielikult minu ootustele või ületas neid positiivselt. Pole võimalik midagi välja tuua, mis ei meeldinud.

I think its out of the properties control, but there could be better signage to the lift that gets you halfway up the hill (or.down), as there are.multiple trails and its hard to match up with the map. I think some colourcoded signage would be really helpful.

Reviewed Sep 11, 2026THE BREAKFAST WAS FANTASTIC. THE LOCATION WAS GOOD THOUGH AT THE TOP OF A HILL SO ONE HAD TO GET THE LIFT UP AND DOWN WHICH COST 2 EUROS EACH TIME. THEN THERE WAS A 10 MINUTE WALK TO THE HOTEL WHCH WAS NOT VERY WELL SIGNPOSTED. BUT WHEN I FINALLY GOT ACCESS, THE HOTEL (AN OLD MONASTERY) THE SETTING AND FACILITES WERE EXCELLENT. VERY GOOD VALUE
I FOUND THE ACCESS INSTRUCTONS A BIT CONFUSING - BUT THEN, I AM OLD! MY TRAIN WAS DELAYED SO I ARRIVED LATER THAN EXPECTED AND THE RECEPTION HAD FINISHED THEIR STINT. I TOOK A TAXI FROM THE STATION BUT WAS CHARGED AT LEAST DOUBLE WHICH WAS DISAPPOINTING.

Reviewed Sep 11, 2026The breakfast was great. The rooms were clean and it was in beautiful gardens. The walk through the woods to get to the lift down to Salzburg was lovely. The air was lovely because we were in the countryside but it was easy to get to city.
There are no staff after 7 pm and a cash only vending machine. There is no air conditioning in the rooms. You kind of felt that you had to be back by the last lift which on a Monday 7 pm then the rest of the week was 9 pm!

Reviewed Sep 9, 2026Das Johannes Schlössle liegt traumhaft ruhig, das Personal ist freundlich und das Frühstück klasse. Ich habe mich sehr wohl gefühlt!
Die Lage hat zugleich den ganz, ganz kleinen Nachteil, dass man morgens und abends zu Fuß bzw teilweise mit dem Mönchsbergaufzug (kostenpflichtig) unterwegs ist.

Reviewed Sep 9, 2026Het gratis en ruim parkeren was een pre. Het is een fantastisch mooi pand. Het ontbijt was top, alleen de vruchtensap is bedroevend, maar dit is volgens mij overal zo in Duitsland en Oostenrijk. De rust is overweldigend maar erg prettig.
De vruchtensap, en de vloer in de slaapkamer kraakt zo ongenadig dat een alarmsysteem niet nodig is.

Reviewed Sep 8, 2026Lokalizacja z dala od codziennego zgiełku miasta, ale pobliski szpital żył swoim życiem. Pokój wygodny, podobnie jak łóżko. Zamknięty dla postronnych ogród pozwala na różne sposoby relaksu. Śniadania pyszne, urozmaicone, obfite. Kawa 11 na 10. Obsługa- standard.
Przy zamknietych oknach wyraźnie odczuwalna woń stechlizny na korytarzu w budynku nr 3.

Reviewed Sep 6, 2026Die Lage ist exponiert auf dem Mönchsberg, sehr ruhig. Die Gartenanlage ist herrlich und das Frühstück bietet alles,was man braucht.
Wenn man Salzburg erkunden will, ist die Unterkunft schon etwas weit vom Schuss. Man benötigt 20-25 min, um dorthin zu kommen - allerdings nur mit dem Mönchsbergaufzug, der im Herbst um 21:00 die letzte Fahrt anbietet. Das finde ich nicht so gut.

Reviewed Sep 4, 2026The Guy in the reception is very nice. the place is on a high hill close to the modern art museum. Need to take the lift to the city. He gives very accurate instructions how to get to the city (~12min walking).
Well... it's a monastery. it is not clear from the description of Booking. The room was small with 2 separate beds, has only one small window, of course without Air condition. There was no a refrigerator in the room or any ice anywhere in this place .The rooms are very simple. the monastery was hard a little to reach by car with a narrow road.

Die Einrichtung ist nicht sehr geschmackvoll. 3€ für ein kleines Wasser aus dem Automaten und 3,50€ für einen Automaten Kaffee Ab 18.00 niemand mehr vor Ort. Keine Bar o. Ä.

Reviewed Sep 3, 2026The hotel was in a peaceful setting in a monastery up a hill above Salzburg old town. To reach the town there was a walk through the woods to the Museum of modern art where there was a lift to take you to the old town. Outside of lift hours it was easy to get a taxi up to the hotel. Views from outside the Museum were stunning. There was an alternative scenic walk down to the town with lovely views. The reception staff were friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and cleaned daily. The breakfast had a large choice and was delicious and the dining area was very clean. There was also a sun terrace where you could choose to have your breakfast and a nice garden to walk and sit in.
It couldn’t have been any better.

No tea or coffee making facilities in the rooms. The main building had the option for buying tea or coffee or wine beer from a drinks machine but this was pricey and not good value. We stayed in the summertime and the bedding was way too hot-the quilts were more of a winter weight

Эта гостиница подойдет тем, кто любит тишину, поскольку она расположена на горе в парке, но при этом в центр можно попасть довольно быстро и легко, если воспользоваться лифтом около музея современного искусства, расположенного на той же горе. На территории гостиницы есть зеленая зона, которой можно воспользоваться для отдыха.

Reviewed Aug 31, 2026Das Gästehaus auf dem Mönchsberg schenkt seinen Gästen eine Atmosphäre von "himmlischer" Ruhe, die man inmitten einer Stadt wie Salzburg kaum für möglich hält, und doch ist man, mit Lift oder zu Fuss, in 10 bis 20 Minuten wieder unten in der Altstadt. Besonders hervorzuheben ist der weitläufige Park, der das Haus umgibt: ein grünes Refugium voller alter Bäume, gepflegter Wege und stiller Plätze, die zum Verweilen und Innehalten einladen. Hier findet man Erholung, Inspiration und Gelassenheit.

Reviewed Aug 31, 2026Ein absoluter Traum! MEGA tolle Location. Von außen der Eingang recht unscheinbar und dann öffnet man die Tür und ist in einer anderen Welt. Ein super netter Rezeptionist hat uns alles erklärt. Die Zimmer sind neu renoviert mit allem, was man so braucht. Mit dem Lift gelangt man mitten in die Stadt. Es ist natürlich ein kleines Stück zu gehen, aber auch das ist toll beleuchtet am Abend. Das Frühstück ist ein Traum in einer alten Kapelle und zuletzt durften wir noch aufs Dach! Dort hat man einen Rundumblick über ganz Salzburg. Ein wirkliches Juwel und wir sind begeistert dort gewesen zu sein!

Besonders begeistert hat mich die phänomenale Lage auf dem Mönchsberg – aber das absolute Highlight ist der ganz besondere Charakter des Hauses. Anstatt eines typischen 08/15-Hotels fasziniert hier die wundervolle Verbindung aus der Geschichte des traditionsreichen Schlössls und der ganz besonderen Atmosphäre des Gästehauses. Diese gelungene Mischung aus Ruhe, historischem Flair und Unterkunft macht den Aufenthalt zu etwas ganz Besonderem. Ein großes Lob geht auch an das hervorragende Frühstück, das wirklich keine Wünsche offenlässt! Ich komme sehr gerne wieder…
Hier und da zeigt das historische Gebäude etwas Abnutzung an den Wänden. Mit ein paar Ausbesserungsarbeiten bei der Wandfarbe wäre der Gesamteindruck absolut perfekt…

Reviewed Aug 29, 2026Das Ambiente ist natürlich außergewöhnlich und stimmt positiv. Die Atmosphäre im Frühstücksraum war nicht nur wegen des wirklich hervorragenden Angebots angenehm. Auch für Fußgänger ist die Lage des Johannesschlössels ausgezeichnet und stimuliert verschiedenste Wege über den Mönchsberg kennenzulernen um in die Altstadt oder wohin auch immer zu gelangen. Bei guter Wetterlage sind die Panoramen auf diesen Spazierwegen zu genießen. Die Gartenbenützung ist gerade in der wärmeren Jahreszeit dank des Baumbestandes sehr einladend und wirkt wie eine Oase.
Auch ich fände es toll, wenn ein Wasserkocher nach dem Frühstück noch zugänglich und ein Kühlschrank für die eine oder andere Speise vorhanden wären. Vielleicht lässt sich das organisatorisch umsetzen? Leider hat jemand seinen Fensterflügel nicht arretiert, sodass bei Wind permanent schlagende Geräusche aus dem unteren Stockwerk zu hören waren. Das dürfte aber nicht die Regel sein.

Reviewed Aug 26, 2026La posizione è magnifica, al centro della collina del Monchsberg, completamente circondata dal verde. Per questo motivo è una struttura dove chi cerca il relax è ideale. Inoltre attrverso i sentieri si possono raggiungere facilmente i luoghi più importanti della città vecchia. L'avvertenze è che chi viene senza macchina con bagagli un po' ingombranti può raggiungere il posto solo in taxi. La stanza è molto ampia e pulita, con ampi spazi dove sistemtare le proprie cose. La colazione presenta ampia scelta di dolce e salato. Il personale è molto cortese
Facendo volentieri la discesa nel centro storico a piedi attraverso il bosco, nulla. Per chi ha difficoltà a camminare e non ha mezzi prorpi, a meno di chiamare un taxi la visita al centro è complicata. Comunque il Domquartier si raggiunge a piedi in venti minuti, la Fortezza in altrettanti minuti

Reviewed Aug 22, 2026La struttura è bellissima, soprattutto grazie al giardino molto curato e alla terrazza panoramica. Le stanze sono belle e vengono mantenute sempre in ordine. Quando viene pulita la stanza lo stuff lascia addirittura un dolcetto sul letto. La colazione la mattina è molto vasta e i prodotti sono freschi. Lo stuff è molto cordiale.
Non è una vera e propria critica, ma per coloro che pensano di prenotare, l'hotel è un po' distante dal centro della città. Ci si arriva comodamente tramite un grande ascensore situato a 10 minuti a piedi dall'hotel.

Der Weg vom Mönchsbergaufzug zum Hotel führt ca 400 m durch den Wald. Nachts alleine als Frau ein bisschen unheimlich.

Reviewed Aug 21, 2026Die Lage ist einfach nur klasse . Oben am Berg gelegen in einem kleinen Park. Einfache Zimmer, die einem ein bisschen den Eindruck des klösterlichen Lebens vermittelten, was durchaus sehr entschleunigend wirkt. Ein hervorragendes Frühstück in einem schönen Saal. Gerne wieder!

Reviewed Aug 18, 2026Ausgezeichnetes Frühstück, bei dem kein Wunsch offen bleibt. Die Zimmer sauber, funktionell, der Service erstklassig, alle Angestellten sind extrem freundlich und hilfsbereit.
Ich würde mir einen Gästekühlschrank wünschen, in dem man persönliche Lebensmittel oder Getränke kühlen kann sowie ein Gefrierfach für z.B. Kühlakkus für eine Kühltasche. Im Stüberl würde sich so etwas anbieten!

- There is no air conditioning, and only one of our rooms had a fan. It was extremely hot and uncomfortable. - we booked two rooms for a family of 4, the rooms were located on separate floors. All single beds - the reception is only staffed until 6 pm and is vacant until 7:30 am. Doors to the hotel are locked after 6 pm, if you forget your key you would be screwed. - Would not recommend coming here with kids. -Extremely poor value for money. Will not be returning.

Reviewed Aug 6, 2026So peaceful!! Great stay very close to town but without the noise/chaos that normally comes with staying in the city. Taxi comes quickly if you need a ride somewhere, and a close walk to an elevator that drops you right down into the city. Staff was very kind and helpful.
The grounds could have been kept up a little better (lots of weeds/overgrowth), but I would come back anyway - really enjoyed my stay.

Reviewed Aug 6, 2026Eine entzückende Unterkunft direkt am mönchsberg. Anfahrt mit Auto möglich, auch mit den Öffis nach einem Spaziergang i. Wald in 10 minuten zu erreichen. Das Personal sehr freundlich, ab 18.00 ist die Rezeption geschlossen. Das Frühstück war toll, frisches, geschnittenes Obst. Vieles andere auch.
Leider ist das Haus nicht gekühlt, was in diesem Sommer schlimm ist. Unser Zimmer war verdunkelt und deswegen war es ok, aber nicht kühl. Leider muss man das jetzt bei uns doch auch mitbedenken.

Reviewed Aug 3, 2026Das Johannes Schlössl hat eine tolle Lage, obwohl es sehr idyllisch liegt, ist man zu Fuß schnell in der Stadt. Man kann auch Salzach sitzen. Das Schlössl hat auch einen schönen parkähnlichen Garten, in dem man sitzen kann. Das Frühstück war gut und wir konnten es auf der Terrasse genießen. Wir sind mit der Bahn angereist und es war nicht sicher, ob wir die Check-in Zeit einhalten konnten, dass war aber auch kein Problem, uns wurde der Schlüssel hinterlegt.

Chýbali chladničky na izbe a klimatizácia. Hotel nemá reštauráciu tak hostia musia chodiť na večere dolu do mesta. Keď nie sú chladničky, nedajú sa skladovať potraviny na večeru.

Die Zudecken waren für das Bett zu schwer besser würe eine große Einzelne damit das Bett nicht nur aus Zudecken besteht und daher zu warm für Zimmer ohne Klimaanlage.

The drive up is not for the weak but the hotel cannot help that - just be careful!!
