We had a very great experience at Periyar Inn. The whole family welcomed us with warmth and the willing of sharing part of their everyday life. The room is very nice, clean cozy and full of plants. Also, the breakfast is great and you can also ask for suggestions to visit the tiger reserve. We highly recommend it!!

The place is in the middle of a green garden of a home and is clean and well maintained.

Could have had an electric kettle and some other basic amenities. Some morning tea/coffee could also help as no food delivery app was working in this area.

This homestay is a HUGE scam and a RED FLAG. I made my booking through booking.com which didn't require any prepayment but after confirmation the owner kept calling and harassing me to make an advance payment. The reason he said was that others are confirming and not coming to the property which i don't understand how that would be my problem when they have listed the property like that on booking.com. Anyways to reassure the owner i assured him that i will be arriving and even intended to share my confirmed tickets. However the property owner didn't agree to honor that and asked for payment and ultimately asked to cancel. I did cancel the whole stay but had to look for alternative arrangements at the last minute. The owner didn't even consider the fact that i was traveling with an infant baby. I surely would never recommend this property to anybody. Please avoid this shambolic behavior and property at all costs.

Wonderful and helpful hosts. We were given a clean room with a clean bathroom and soft beds. I loved my stay here and I hope the hosts will think about visiting me in Meghalaya some day. 1000/10 would recommend them.

Super nice home stay run by a lovely couple. They are extremely welcoming and happy to help you arrange anything during your stay. Breakfast is delicious as well as the home cooked meal option at night. The location is convenient, the whole village is at walking distance.

L'accueil de nos hôtes est fabuleux. Le couple propose des cours de cuisine pour 8 euros par personne, est de bon conseil pour les excursions, recommande des activités. Ils sont à l'écoute et aux petits soins. Le guest house est proche de la réserve, du centre ville, tout en étant au calme . La literie parfaite et le confort de la chambre également.

Jobin and his family were great. They gave lots of advice and help with local arrangements (logistics, tuk-tuk hires, etc.). We stayed four nights in a fan-cooled room with firm, but comfortable twin beds. A/C was not needed because nighttime low temperatures were in the mid-60’sF. Freshly prepared and nice Keralan breakfast was provided each morning and as well as very good evening meals on two occasions for an extra charge. The rooms were roomy and clean. We couldn’t have been happier with our decision to stay here.

All good, except hot water supply was limited.

sehr herzliche und hilfsbereite gastgeberfamilie, wunderbares frühstück, zimmer war sehr sauber, liebevoll eingerichtetes zimmer mit terrasse zum verweilen. die unterkunft ist in der ruhigen seitenstrasse gelegen, in perfekter gehdistanz zum park und zum einkaufen und essen. wir hatten einen super aufenthalt hier!

We have stayed in beautiful homestays before, but this one was exceptional. The host family is very kind and welcoming. We enjoyed a wonderful cooking session with them. They gave us great recommendations for what to do and where to find good food. With their own unique and beautiful style they created a little oasis in the middle of Kumily. We enjoyed our time there very much. Thank you!

El alojamiento es espectacular! La ubicación es ideal, cerca del centro y del parque pero al mismo tiempo ubicada en una calle tranquila. La habitación es muy limpia y cómoda, y es de destacar particularmente la hospitalidad y amabilidad de la familia que gestiona el lugar.

Super friendly and helpful hosts, delicious south Indian breakfast, we had a large private space to ourselves including a covered, plant filled patio as well as the large bedroom which was comfortable for our family of three. We were served a delicious dinner one night. The location was a short walk from town and the park information & boating centres.

The house is beautiful. It is decorated with a lot of flowers and plants. The family is really friendly and the room was clean and tidy.

I loved the property, the privacy, the plants, the location but the hosts are what really made it the best with their hospitality, flexibility and overall support through the whole stay.

The first room I had was very comfortable but I extended my stay one more night and moved to the smaller room and the sheets were a bit rough and not as comfy bed so if you want a little more softer sheets and comfy bed - stay in the larger double room!

The hospitality was great, we were welcome very warmly. The rooms are surrounded with green vegetation, little paradise in a quiet location. Even a monkey family was visiting us. Received assistance and good advice for our travel. Full recommendation

I liked the quiet setting, the greenery and plants all around the balconies and even in my room. The host family were so kind, helpful and welcoming. They gave really good suggestions for trips and booked me a driver for my onward journey. The highlight for me however were the Keralan breakfasts, which were the most delicious I’ve had and cooked with care! A truly wonderful stay.

The hosts were very accommodating. The room was clean and the bathroom spotless. We needed to have a late breakfast and the cook made no fuss in making what we wanted.

Just an amazing homestay. We only stayed for 2 nights but should've been more as our 1 breakfast that we enjoyed was so we'll taken care of! We didn't get to enjoy dinner with them (met other people who we went for dinner) but from other guests it was as delicious and all homemade! They are a super friendly family as well.

Everything was perfect. Location was very close to the center , as well as to the entrance of Periyar N.P. The room was spacious and very clean with all the necessary amenities and a big balcony .The whole place was beautiful with lots of plants and very well maintained But above all was the kindness of the owners who gave us all the necessary advice to make our stay to Thekkady unforgettable Breakfast was very nice and they also cooked for us a delicious dinner . In Feb 25 we stayed for 4 days and paid Rs 9068 (Rs 2267 per day). It was meant to be a Deluxe Double Room with Balcony. Yes there was a balcony but the only view was the "rear end "of the surrounding buildings. Is this a decent view for a so called "Deluxe Room? What does Deluxe really mean, is it simply based on the size of the room? The room had no Kettle/Tea/Coffee making facility, No Microwave, No Air Conditioner (not that we wanted one). Does a Deluxe Room simply mean a large room, which basically has what a standard smaller room has? Talk about TV Channels, mostly all local language not English channels, No CNN or BBC news channels, just one or two English international channels were available, many other channels were barred and required payment. With paid meals, for a Non Veg lunch we were charged Rs 300 per meal for One average size fried Mackeral fish and fish curry, papad, rice, vegetable and sambar. Dining out at 2 places, one being the Central Restaurant (highly recommended), the meal with unlimited rice, fried fish and 10 little bowls of veggies, dhal, yogurt, sambar, pepper water, a sweet (dessert) etc, in addition 3 big metal containers of sambar, curd curry n one more placed on our dining table, free for All!!!!. ALL THIS AT A COST OF Rs 200. The other eating place the rice plate etc with fried fish was Rs 220, take a look at the spread of food (refer to the photos attached). Now please compare the rent, electricity and staff costs of a restaurant as compared to a homestay! Food pricing was an absolute Rip Off. PLEASE TAKE A LOOK AT THE 2 RICE PLATE PHOTOS ATTACHED

by far our best homestay and best dinner from our India trip. The room was so spacious, clean, nicely decorated, had mosquito net, A/C and its own private outdoor seating. Plenty of greenery, the inside of the house is impeccable and the hosts so friendly. Walking distance from the park, massage, shows... Just perfect value for money and would come back if we ever have the opportunity.

Periyar Inn is a place to stay for a while, take a deep breath and slow down from the busy life outside. It is the lush green balcony setup and the kind and caring people who created this gem that make this place so special. My boyfriend and I got to spend two nights with this lovely family and I wish we had another one to rest and read on the cozy balcony. The breakfast was delcious and we enjoyed chatting there with other guest. We also got invited to a very yum dinner on night, sharing stories with other travelers. We received help from the hosts with any our questions, they were always there for us and went the extra mile. We felt very welcomed in this house and I‘m beyond thankful for the experience. We have had an amazing stay at Periyar Inn! Our hosts were very kind and very helpful. They helped us to book the tours we wanted, and to order a taxi. They also gave us a lot of informations about Indian culture and the breakfast was very good. We would definitely spend another journey there. Highly recommended!

The owners are so helpful and can help arrange trips if needed. Food was good - breakfast in the morning, they even went to get bread for toast for me. Room is great and comfortable, hot water, good wifi, lovely little balcony outside room, really like the decor and modern. Great location walking distance to Periyar National Park entry to get boat trips.

The bed was slightly harder than I would prefer, but that is standard with India homestays from experience. It’s a little loud with the steps outside and hearing voices coming from the house - however this wasn’t an issue after 2200.

Very kind. Friendly & welcoming owners. Lovely clean bedroom. Large bathroom with big, fluffy towels. Comfy bed. A nice terrace seating area with a suspended swing chair. The local people were very nice.

The location was OK if you want overpriced Jeep Safari tours. We didn't want that, so we found very few attractions in the area. There are quite a lot of shops all selling the same overpriced items. There are lots of monkeys around the and the local area.

The location is excellent, within walking distance to almost everything. It’s just a 5-minute walk to the national park. The host family was incredibly friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this place to stay!
