We liked the ambience of this homestay and the host's behaviour was exceptionally good... They offered a welcome drink and the complimentary breakfast was heart filling and delicious. The homestay is very close to the beach and it has a very calm atmosphere around the homestay and it is a great way to escape the city noise and drama. The homestay has a very beautiful garden that before you check in the room you will fall in love with this homestay. The host's Babu Chetta and his wife were so sweet and they made sure we were comfortable in our stay. The homestay has 4 rooms and is fully covered by the garden and it is couple friendly and even you can go with your friends gang or colleagues. The homestay can accommodate around 13-14 people easily but before booking do check with them... The overall review is I would love to visit here again and again ❤️

I really enjoyed staying at babu homestay, it's located on the beach within a short walk from the water. the hosts were very kind and attentive, the room was spacious and the washroom was gigantic. Their breakfast was yummy 🤤

Overall a really nice stay, a bit more attention to detail in cleaning, like under the bed, would have made it even better.

Très belle chambre et la plus belle salle de bain de tout mon voyage. Excellent et copieux petit déjeuner. La maison est très bien placée, dans un endroit calme et à 200m de la plage. Le jardin est magnifique. Bref, une très bonne adresse.

La proximite de la plage et le chaleureux accueil. Le dîner et le petit déjeuné sont très bons et très copieux.

The family who run this homestay are just lovely. Rani prepares delicious dinners and breakfasts, and Babu looks after the garden, which is beautiful, and drives his rickshaw. My room was large and spacious, simple decor, the bathroom large, and plenty of room. Chairs and tables are on the verandah, you can sit and have your dinner and enjoy the garden. The house is in a small enclave just behind the beach, every place is private, and very handy. Highly recommend a stay here

Traumhafte Lage nur 1 Minute vom Strand entfernt, wunderschöner Garten, in dem die Vögel zwitschern, geräumiges Zimmer mit Ventilator und Klimaanlage, bequeme Betten, großes Badezimmer - und am tollsten sind die Besitzer, die einem herzlich mit selbstgemachter Zitronenlimo empfangen. Das Frühstück war auch fantastisch und sehr reichhaltig!!! Ich konnte sogar bis abends im Zimmer bleiben, da keine anderen Gäste kamen und Babu brachte mich dann mit seinem Tuk tuk zum Bahnhof :-) Ich werde definitiv nochmal wiederkommen!!!

It was cheap and cheerful. You got a good sized room with a nice veranda to chill out on. Short walk to a very nice beach. Next door to a great restaurant (Fisherman’s cafe).

Breakfast was very basic. Owner didn’t speak much English. Took some finding as it’s tucked away and not signposted.

Loved the pretty outside terrace and having your own private area looking out onto the lush gardens. The birdsong in the morning is incredible. Generous breakfasts serving traditional Keralan food which were delicious as were all the evening meals we had. Highly recommend.

Babu und Rani sind sehr netter Gastgeber. Das Essen war aithentisch, sehr gut und sie haben immer geholfen. Eine sehr fleissige Familie, die alles selber macht.

Jedes Zimmer hat nur ein Fenster, das man öffnen könnte. In einem zimmer, das näher zu ihrem Haus war, könnte man das Fenster gerade öffnen, aber hat keine Möglichkeit frische Luft zu bekommen. Jedes Zimmer sollte mindestens zwei Fenster für frische Luft haben. AC Kontrolle war defekt.

We really enjoyed to stay with this amazingly lovely family, we felt so welcome and cared for as if they were our own family. The room is very big and clean, located very near the beach and very silent and peaceful. The garden has so many beautiful plants and flowers it was a pleasure to be in this little paradise.

I had a wonderful stay at Marari Babu. The room was spacious and comfortable, and the beautiful garden added a peaceful touch to the experience. The location is perfect—right on the beach. The owners were incredibly friendly and helpful, and they served delicious food and fresh juices.

We had travelled to Mararikulam for our annual get together of office colleagues. We have had such a great time staying here- it has been so peaceful and relaxing. The homecooked breakfast and evening meals here are superb. The beach is 200 mts away - a piece of heaven- we had lovely time there. Thanks a ton to Rani and Babu for making us feel so welcome. And Luca too!

If you are looking to stay in Marari then look no further than Babu Homestay - you won't regret it. This place is amazing in every way. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the garden is beautiful and gives a sense of peace. Babu and his wife will take care of you. The location is also perfect - a few steps from the clean part of the beach.

We had breakfast and dinner each night. The food was really good. Rani and Babu looked after us really well. A lovely place to relax. Will definitely stay here again of we go back to Kerala. The garden is really nice.

It was not easy to find.

Great room, bathroom, wifi and outside space minutes from the beach. Spotlessly clean. Babu and Rani are outstanding hosts, and the food they offer for dinner and breakfast is exceptional. Best we’ve had anywhere. And the breakfast smoothies especially were wonderful! Babu picked us up from the railway station in his tuktuk, kept us informed of things to see and organised an amazing boat trip for us. Only wish we could have stayed longer. Nb Marari beach is not clean at the Beach Road end, but is clean and quiet at Babu’s end.

Very nice and cosy homestay. The garden is very beautiful. The atmosphere is peaceful. I felt like home. Moreover, the beach is just few meters away. It is the perfect place for taking some rest. The owners of the place are very sweet persons. They always care and prepare good food.

We have had such a great time staying here - it has been so peaceful and relaxing. The homecooked breakfast and evening meals here are the best we have had in Kerala! We stayed at Marari Babu Homestay for one night, which happened to be the last night of our trip to India, and we couldn’t have asked for a better way to end our journey. The place was amazing—clean, simple, and incredibly comfortable. The rooms weren’t over-the-top fancy, but they had everything we needed, and everything was well-maintained. One of the best parts was how close it was to the beach—just a quick two-minute walk! This made it so easy to enjoy the beautiful Marari Beach. What really made the stay stand out, though, was the staff. They were incredibly welcoming, warm, and friendly, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. Great location , superb homestay and best host.

Our stay was like returning home, as it was the second time at Mr. Babu's and we felt like long-awaited and welcomed. We enjoyed as much as before the homemade tasty food cooked with care in abundance by Mr. Babu's wife. Welcoming smiles and readiness to help, cleanliness, and comfort, Mr. Babu's excursion and closeness to nature made our stay relaxing and laid-back, just what we needed. We definitely recommend it for everyone who is looking for a getaway from urban life and harmony.

- our room was only separated from another by a single locked door. Meaning we could hear everything in the other room and it didn’t feel 100% private. Otherwise it was a great stay.

This is one of the best authentic home stays we have ever stayed. The rooms are spacious and clean, the garden is stunningly beautiful, the beach is 2 minutes away and best of all, the couple that hosts are the sweetest people. Babu arranged our airport transfer and our backwaters boat trip and drive us there in his Tuk tuk. Rani is an excellent cook and prepared delicious breakfast. We also ate dinner there every night, made to order as there’s no menu. We just told her what we fancied in the morning and she made it. And the bill at the end was much much cheaper than what we anticipated! I have never been so sad to leave a place like I was sad to leave Babu marari Homestay. We’ll be back.

Beautiful jungle garden property full of birds and animals, so close to the beach. The best part of all was the hosts, who took care of us like family, served us home cooked delicious meals which were better than in a restaurant! Very happy and kind people, they made our stay feel like home.

Our stay was indeed exceptional, we felt at home as welcomed guests treated with care and delicious home-made food for breakfasts, lunch and dinners cooked with love by Mr. Babu's wife. Our wishes were fulfilled whole-heartedly with willingness and smile. The way to the beach through narrow neighbourhood paths was another enjoyable experience. The sea was mild in early mornings and rough and playful in the evenings, however, water remained very warm throughout the day. The beaches are rather secluded and not crowdy, with some cafés offering drinks and meals. We enjoyed every moment of our stay and highly recommend it for everyone. An excursion by Mr. Babu was very interesting and insightful. We thank Mr. Babu and his family for making our holiday wonderful, relaxing, memorable and warm.

A fantastic way to start our trip to Kerala - Babu arranged our pickup at the airport and he and his family immediately made us feel at home. The food is fantastic - opt for dinner and breakfast and you will not be disappointed. We had such an amazing variety of delicious foods, fruits and juices. The AC is super effective and the fans keep you cool on the veranda. The beach is a few minutes away, with a few beach cafe choices right down the way. Can’t recommend highly enough!

Food was amazing! Asked if it could be prepared without onions, and the host remembered this for every next meal. Thank you😊 The room and bathroom were clean. And the location is fantastic! Just a few minutes walk to a white sand beach. We can definitely recommend this place.

Only minor downside were the temporary power outages on the AC. But the AC usually started again in a few minutes.

I would like to express my deep gratitude to Babu and his family for the warm welcome at the Babu Marari Homestay. From the first minutes of our stay, we were surrounded by attention and care. Good linen, clean and comfortable rooms.The three of us were together and rented two rooms next to each other.We will never forget the wonderful breakfasts and dinners on the large terrace. This was one of the most wonderful stays in Kerala ,Babu and his family are the most wonderful people I ve met.I was supposed to stay only for 2 nights and extended my stay for a week.Absolutely loved their hospitality

I had a very nice stay at Babu's Homestay at the end of February 2024 with an excellent price-performance ratio. The house and the room I stayed in were very clean and nicely decorated, the bathroom had a shower with hot water and plenty of water pressure. The hosts were very helpful, the breakfast was very good and filling, the evening meal that I was able to enjoy was the best dinner of my stay in Kerala. Babu is also a tuk-tuk driver and organizes rides at a fair price. Since I already bought a SIM card at the airport, I didn't use the WiFi there and can't say anything about it. The path to the clean, sandy beach is very short, when I was there the beach had some distance to the fishing boats on the left and right, and there were loungers with parasols for rent. There were also a few beach cafes nearby, but compared to Varkala Beach, where I was before, it is very quiet and the bars close well before midnight. The water is not flat and the waves can be very strong, so caution is advised. The water is very warm, as is to be expected on a tropical beach. All in all, I spent a few wonderful days in Marari Beach.

There wasn't really anything I didn't like.

Lovely host family, spacious, clean rooms close to the beach. Great home cooked food eaten on a lovely balcony overlooking a beautiful little garden. We spotted lots of different birds including a tree dwelling kingfisher aswell as squirrels and monkeys. Oh and they have a cute new puppy called Luca - what's not to love? Thanks to Mr Babu and Rani nothing was too much trouble.

Had a wonderful stay with Rani and Babu.The rooms are clean with a large bathroom and very effective Air con.The location is fabulous just a short walk to the beach.Rani does a lovely breakfast and plenty of it always served with a smile.Babu has a tuk tuk which was handy when we went to Alleppy and also organised a driver to the airport when we left.

The only thing that could be improved was the wi fi signal in the room.It was fine on the veranda so this was only a minor quibble

Nice garden and ambience around the house. Bathroom was neat and clean and spacious too.

Not that neat. Lights were not sufficient enough. Internet range is not there. Morning breakfast was appam and egg curry. Somehow we managed to have it. Blanket and betsheets were not that clean. instead of one double blanket they had two single balnkets that too a thin one. I will not recommend or prefer to stay there a second time.
