We stayed here for a few days. The property is conveniently located just one block off the main road, making it very quiet and peaceful. ​ｗe were already feeling unwell with stomach trouble before we even arrived. In the middle of the night around 2 AM, our condition worsened, and we had to wake the owner to get a taxi to the hospital. The owner helped us immediately without the slightest hesitation or frustration. ​While we were hospitalized, they brought us essential items we needed. After we returned, they went above and beyond by preparing warm porridge and easily digestible meals for us. The room was extremely comfortable with great air conditioning, which was a huge help for our recovery. ​The level of genuine hospitality was truly incredible. We received far more care and kindness than what we paid for. We cannot recommend this place enough!

An excellent homestay. Very kind attentive staff, AMAZING generous local breakfast, everyday a new option to try local delicacies. Highly recommend. I see negative reviews regarding ‘charging’ for services - the charges are necessary and support a local business. One of the best meals we had in Sri Lanka!

We had a great stay! Big rooms, with AC, bathrooms have got showers, and you also have a lovely terrace. The food was delicious and the family was so nice. Very central of you want to visit Polonnaruwa, do a boat tour or a safari

The room and the bathroom are really clean, the room is nice, comfortable and with a very nice balcony on the garden. Binara and family are really friendly and helpfull. He helped us to organize activities in the city, reccomended the boat trip to the bird island. There’s the possibility to rent a bike, in good condition. Breakfast is very very good with fruit, tea and local food!

Het ontbijt, de vriendelijke service, Binara regelde de huurfietsen, familiale sfeer, familie woont op het gelijkvloers maar geen enkele inmenging tenzij je hen nodig had. Een warm familiaal verblijf

De kamers zijn niet heel groot maar voldoende om er comfortabel om er 2-3 nachten te verblijven. Op ca. 300 meter van Binara Hope Stay kan je het kunstmatige enorme meer van de koning bewonderen bij zonsondergang (12de eeuw)

Awesome stay! The homestay was super clean and surrounded by beautiful nature. Our host was fantastic, incredibly helpful and truly looked after us when our son was sick. Highly recommend!

Simply fantastic! We had an unforgettable time at Binara's homestay. Binara is incredibly warm and caring, always making sure we had everything we needed. He even organized a wonderful safari for us, including the jeep and driver. The property is beautiful and the breakfast was abundant and delicious. Special shoutout to his coffee – he's a hobby barista and makes the absolute best coffee in Sri Lanka! We can highly recommend staying here.

Hele leuke eigenaar die graag mee denkt en altijd beschikbaar is via whatsapp. De Kamer is simpel maar perfect. Ik verbleef 2 nachtjes en de dag dat ik aankwam stelde hij voor dat ik een boottochtje kon doen op het meer met de zonsondergang en naar het vogeleiland. Het was een stel dat dat organiseerde en ondanks de taalbarrière vertelde hij de namen van de vogels en ik heb een wilde olifant op het eilandje gezien die daar soms komen wassen!! Ook kreeg ik en lekker kopje thee met een snack! De 2e dag mocht ik een fiets lenen en ben ik door de Ancient City gefietst. Je kan ook een brommer of tuktuk huren maar ik vond ene fiets wel even lekker. Vanaf het hostel is alles net te ver om te lopen dus met de fiets ben ik ook naar het meer gegaan en naar het stadje om daar avond te eten. Overal hele leuke plek!

A very lovely place to stay. We had a wonderful time in Polonnaruwa. Binara is really friendly and helpful; he gave us a lot of advice on where to go and what to do. He recommended a bird-watching canoe tour with a local fisherman, which was a unique experience. Good service, a beautiful house, and great value

De eigenaar en zijn familie zijn top! De tuin is geweldig, met een leuke ‘coffeeshop’. De ligging net buiten het centrum is ideaal. Het is er rustig en toch ben je met een kwartiertje in de stad. De vaste Tuktuk chauffeur is heel vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Het aangenaam verblijven hier. Een aanrader.

Wir haben hier zwei Nächte geschlafen und wurden sehr herzlich aufgenommen. Der Balkon mit Blick in den schönen Garten ist grandios. Dort haben wir auch zu Abend gegessen: Ein drei Gänge Menü mit Reis-Curry als Hauptgericht. Besonders die kleinen Kartoffeln aus dem eigenen Garten waren sehr lecker. Um die Ruinen zu besichtigen, konnten wir Fahrräder ausleihen, was sehr praktisch war. Ansonsten haben wir viele hilfreiche Tipps bekommen. Darunter eine Safari, die wir zum Abschluss unternommen haben. Der Guide war ausgezeichnet und wir haben sehr viele Elefanten aus nächster Nähe und einige interessante Vögel Sri Lankas gesehen. Absolut empfehlenswert.

A great stay, very friendly host (husband and wife) who ran the hostel, paid extra for breakfast but it was really worth it. Rent a bike to explore Polonnaruwa. Single room i booked was not the best one, there are better ones with double bed on 2nd floor, but it was more than OK for me.

Nothing really. Location is a bit distance from downtown Polonnaruwa, 5-10 min Tuktuk ride away, easy to navigate by rental bike to go to town to explore the ancient town ruins.

Binara e la sua famiglia sono persone gentilissime e accoglienti! Colazione ottima portata in terrazzo della camera. Disponibili ad ogni nostra richiesta.

Il sonno è stato disturbato dalla presenza di rumori. Non c’erano coperte.

A szálláshely egy szép és nyugodt környezetben volt, hatalmas ősfákkal körbevéve. A szállástól 10 perc sétára található egy nagyobb tó, ahol sétálni lehet és csodálatos a naplemente. A szobám tágas volt, amihez egy nagy méretű terasz is csatlakozott. Az ágy kényelmes és a szoba tiszta volt. A közeli folyosóról nyílt a fürdőszoba. A zuhanyzónak nagy víz nyomása volt így kellemes volt a fürdés. A szállást adó család kedves és barátságos volt. A reggelik finomak voltak. Ajánlom ezt a szállást, nagyon jó ár/értékűek a szobák!

Un hotel con un dueño muy muy amable. Muy preocupado en todo momento por que estuvieramos bien. Solo pasamos una noche y para nosotras todo estuvo bien, nos organizo el alquiler de bicis para poder ver Polonnaruwa.

Excellent accueil de la part de Binara. Il parle très bien l'Anglais, il est prévenant et prend vraiment le temps de vous renseigner. On peut utiliser un petit frigo. La chambre était propre, la terrasse au 1er agréable. Le petit déjeuner était copieux. La ville est à environ 1 km par la route principale. On peut aussi marcher le long du lac pour la rejoindre. Très bien placé pour acheter les billets d'entrée pour le site archéologique.

Seul petit bémol : le mur qui sépare notre salle de bain de celle du voisin ne monte pas jusqu'en haut. Pas de panique on ne peut vous voir, mais on s'entend l'un l'autre.

The golden light reflecting off the water, framed by nature, was the perfect way to end the day. Location-wise, Binara Homestay couldn’t be better. It’s just minutes from the main historical sites of Polonnaruwa, making it super convenient for sightseeing without the hassle of long travel. Perfectly located to explore the ancient city of Polonnuwara. Binara provides a welcoming and friendly service with delicious breakfast. The shower was very warm and it a peaceful and quiet neighbourhood. Binara was helpful with organising a tuk driver for our tour of the ancient city and recommended an excellent safair through Kurulu Eco Park.

There are a lot of mosquitos around and it would have been good to have the bathroom attached to the bedroom with some soap in the bathroom to wash hands.

I came here by car, so I don’t mind the distance to the ticket center. It maybe a little bit far from the hotel to the ticket center.

The fact that they made us pay for a second night, even if they agreed to cancel it. Just tell me that you can’t or that we will need to pay - so at least we are informed. Don’t pull it on the bill without even talking about it…

Not a lot I didn't like ..

Es handelt sich um ein neues Haus das erst ein paar Jahre alt sein kann dementsprechend sind alle Armaturen neu und funktionieren. Das Bad ist bis in 1,50 m Höhe gefliest inklusive dem Boden auch der Wohnraum ist gefliest und die Wände sind weiß gestrichen. Die Räume sind hoch ich schätze 3,50 m so dass sich die Wärme nicht so staut. Es gibt einen dreiteiliges großes Fenster das vergittert ist so dass man nachts bedenkenlos lüften kann. Auch im Bad ist ein vergittertes Fenster auf der gegenüberliegenden Seite so dass man auf Durchzug lüften kann. Es gibt ein Moskitonetz es ist ein Deckenventilator und ein Standventilator vorhanden. Der Vermieter ist sehr hilfsbereit und erklärt wo man hinfahren kann. Er vermietet auch Fahrräder. Mir hat er einen Roller Helm geliehen . Das Haus ist nur 2,8 km vom Palace of King und den Sehenswürdigkeiten entfernt, man erreicht sie gut mit dem Fahrrad. Das Haus steht in einer Sackgasse ohne Durchgangsverkehr auf einem großen Waldgrundstück. der Schatten und eine leichte Brise reduzierten die Wärme etwas. Ich buche meistens günstige Zimmer mit angeschlossenem eigenem Bad. Es ist das beste Zimmer dass ich bisher in Sri Lanka gebucht habe. It is a new house that could only be a few years old, so all the fixtures are new and in working order. The bathroom is tiled up to a height of 1.50 m, including the floor. The living room is also tiled, and the walls are painted white. The rooms are high—I estimate 3.50 m—so that the heat does not build up too much. There is a large, three-part window with bars so that you can ventilate at night without worry. In the bathroom, there is also a barred window on the opposite side so that you can ventilate. There is a mosquito net, a ceiling fan, and a standing fan. The landlord is very helpful and explains where you can go. He also rents out bikes. He lent me a scooter helmet. The house is just 2,8 km of Palace of King away. So not far from the sights; they are easy to reach by bike.

Es gibt immer ein paar Kleinigkeiten die man noch verbessern könnte wir sind hier schließlich nicht im 5 Sterne Hotel aber diese Kleinigkeiten ändern nichts an meiner Gesamtbewertung. There are always a few little things that could be improved - after all, we are not in a 5-star hotel - but these little things do not change my overall rating.

Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis hier war wirklich unschlagbar! Das Zimmer war schön und sauber, mit einer Klimaanlage die gut funktioniert hat und einer wunderschönen großen Terrasse. Der Host war sehr freundlich und ich habe dort auch zu Abend gegessen - das essen war sehr lecker und reichlich. Ich habe mich rundum wohl und herzlich willkommen gefühlt, ganz klare Empfehlung!

Camere con muri comunicanti, poca privacy.

Binara è stato incredibilmente accogliente e disponibile e parla perfettamente inglese. Ci ha offerto il noleggio delle sue biciclette e consigliato dei posti in cui mangiare. Ha cucinato la colazione molto presto per noi la mattina. La casa è molto vicina al sito storico di Pollonaruwa. Inoltre il giardino è molto grazioso e curato.

Il bagno ha una presa d’aria costantemente aperta, dalla quale entravano molti insetti, persino una rana. C’erano alcune macchie sulle lenzuola. Da migliorare questi aspetti, ma la gentilezza dei proprietari rende comunque gradevole il soggiorno.

Zeer lieve behulpzame eigenaars. Heel proper! Zeer goed gelegen om een bezoek richting oude stad te maken (aanrader) toch in de rust. Op 5 min met tuktuk ben je in het drukkere centrum.

Tutta la famiglia è stata estremamente gentile e disponibile prima e durante il soggiorno. In particolare il proprietario ci ha aiutato a organizzare delle ottime escursioni. Una menzione speciale al safari e al driver Shiran, estremamente competente e accurato nelle sue spiegazioni.

Everything here is exceptional! I've stayed at many guest houses, but this is by far the calmest and most peaceful place I've ever booked. The owner is very kind, friendly, and extremely helpful. The rooms are spotless, and the facilities are excellent for the price. It's also conveniently located close to Parakrama Samudra (just 1.8 km away). I truly enjoyed my freedom here, and this stay has become one of the most unforgettable journeys I've had. If you're looking for a budget-friendly place that is clean, calm, and comfortable, there's simply no better choice than this!

Ci hanno fornito le biciclette (gratuitamente) e le informazioni generali per visitare la città antica. Hanno cucinato per noi un’ottima colazione e cena, ci siamo trovati molto bene. Binara e la sua famiglia sono stati davvero accoglienti! La struttura è in un’ottima posizione, si trova in una tranquilla strada secondaria, vicina sia al parco archeologico che al lago.

Great value for money for a private room and bathroom with both a ceiling fan and a mobile fan. Kind owners, clean room, only 30mins walk from the main road and close to Potgul temple and other sites although need to visit the museum first to get a ticket. Convenience store within 500m of the property and water refill.

A homestay with a boutique hotel twist. We've been delighted by the home-made curry at night and delicious breakfasts. The host was kind enough to organise an absolutely amazing safari in Kaudulla national park, and rent us bikes to visit the astonishing ruins of Polonnaruva. Absolutely recommend.

Not a negative but watch out for the neighbours. They don't seem to enjoy foreigners roaming the paved streets around the home stay.

Sono stato di passaggio in questa casa, ma mi sono trovato davvero bene, proprietari gentili, camera pulita e colazione top!!!

Eigenlijk alles. Mooie grote kamer, goedwerkende airco, warme douche, goed bed en lekker eten. Als je met eigen vervoer (tuktuk in mijn geval) reist, kan deze op eigen terrein geparkeerd worden.

El baño estaba fuera de la habitación y tenía hormigas (imagino que algo común en la zona) y la habitación podía estar un poco más limpia.

Solo estuvimos una noche, es simple pero está bien y tiene garaje privado si quieres guardar tu vehículo. Si no tienes vehículo propio está bastante apartado del centro, el baño es fuera de la habitación pero como estábamos solos no hubo problema.

La famille était d'une gentillesse sans borne. Le repas offert était bon, les conseils exacts et utiles. L'environneùent est très agréable, dans la verdure, au calme, parfait pour se ressourcer. Le vélo loué par la famille permet d'aller très facilement et rapidement au principal site d'intérêt de la ville.

Le prix du repas était un peu cher par rapport au prix de la chambre, mais c'est compensé par la quantité et la qualité.

Un vrai coup de cœur ! Nous avons passé un superbe séjour dans cette guesthouse, idéale pour nous. L’accueil a été exceptionnel : nos hôtes étaient aux petits soins, toujours disponibles pour donner de bons conseils ou simplement échanger avec gentillesse. La propreté est irréprochable, les petits déjeuners délicieux et généreux, et les deux enfants de la famille ont ajouté une touche de joie et de sourires à notre séjour. Aucun point négatif à signaler, tout était parfait. Le rapport qualité-prix est imbattable. Je recommande les yeux fermés et je reviendrai avec grand plaisir !

The house was spacious and set in a beautiful garden not far from the lake and within easy cycling distance of the museum and old town. The room was very clean, comfortable and well appointed with a lovely balcony overlooking the garden. The breakfasts are evening meals were generous and delicious. Binara and his family were friendly and welcoming . He speaks very good English and communicated clearly and promptly throughout. He went out of his way to ensure that I got the most out of my stay and was so kind and helpful in helping me with travel arrangements. He recommended a wonderful elephant safari with a very knowledgeable and experienced guide which I really enjoyed. This was a great base for exploring Polonaruwa and I would highly recommend Binara Homestay.

Ein ruhige grüne Oase und dazu blitzsauber. Ein Bad, in dem man sich wohl fühlt, riesige sehr bequeme Betten, in einem geschmackvollem Zimmer und ein genialer Balkon mit Blick in den wunderschönen Garten mit den verschiedensten Bäumen, die Schatten spenden und trotzdem nahezu keine Mosquitos. Die Gastgeberfamilie ist extrem nett, hilfsbereit und sehr zurückhaltend. Sprechen hervorragend Englisch. Die Kinder sind definitiv nicht laut, wie ein anderer Kommentator schrieb. Alles perfekt.

Beautiful property and extremely friendly host. The rooms were very nice and comfortable. Only thing to change is the blanket / sheet is not big enough for one person so I would recommend asking for two or a more regular sized bed sheet. Would definitely stay again / recommend!

Wunderschönes Haus mit einem grossen Garten, ruhig gelegen. Die Gastgeber sind extrem hilfsbereit und herzlich. Das Zimmer war sehr sauber und die Betten bequem. Wir haben hervorragend geschlafen. Die Tour zur Vogelinsel mit Binaras Fischerfreunden können wir sehr empfehlen. Ein Traum für Ornithologen und Naturfreunde. Leider ist das Badezimmer zum Nachbars-Badezimmer oben offen. Wir fühlten uns in der Privatsphäre etwas gestört, wenn auf beiden Seiten Leute im Badezimmer waren und auch mit gschlossener Badezimmertür hört man alle Geräusche der Nachbarn (auch Gspräche).

Останавливались на одну ночь для осмотра достопримечательностей. Хозяева очень приветливые, в номере было чисто, было все необходимое для проживания. Завтрак был национальный и очень вкусный. Объект находится в тихом уютном месте. В номере был балкон и вид открывался во двор - очень зелено и чисто. Рекомендую для проживания.

Malgré la pluie, nous avons apprécié notre séjour. Très bien accueillis et aidés pour tout, y compris vélos et taxi. Un petit ɓémol, il faut savoir que pour cette très belle chambre et sa grande terrasse, la salle d'eau/toilettes privative est de l'autre coté du couloir commun. Le logement est près du musée par la petite route du lac. Merci à notre hôte.

Schöne ruhige Lage im Grünen, Binara und seine Familie haben uns gut versorgt. Fahrräder zum Erkunden gab es ebenfalls, gegen Gebühr. Wir haben uns wohlgefühlt..

Der Besitzer war sehr freundlich und wir hatten sehr nette Gespräche. Sehr gefallen hat uns auch die von ihm organisierte Bootstour auf eine Insel im See mit Vogelbeobachtung und Sonnenuntergang als soziales Projekt. Am Frühstückstisch kann man die Tiere im Wald beobachten.

Wir haben hier 2 Tage verbracht und es war ein angenehmer Aufenthalt. Unser Vermieter hat uns gut betreut und das Essen war auch prima.

Wir waren super zufrieden und begeistert von der Gastfreundschaft der Familie. Das Essen war hervorragend, die Vermittlung von Touren war sehr unkompliziert und es waren genau die richtigen Empfehlungen. Wir konnten mit Fahrrädern alles erkunden. Der wunderschöne Garten hat zum Wohlbefinden auch beigetragen. Also absolut empfehlenswert!!

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour chez des personnes charmantes.

Très bien accueilli par nos hôtes, l’endroit est superbe et reposant, cela ressemble à une mini jungle, nous avons vu une mangouste et des singes en fin d’après-midi. Des matelas confortables pour passer une bonne nuit et pour couronner le tout vous pouvez prendre un petit déjeuner pour seulement 1500 roupies, copieux et très bon, un vrai délice.

Il n’y avait qu’un seul adaptateur pour charger nos équipements ce qui était un peu dommage, mais nous avons réussi à nous en sortir, cela n’a en rien gâché notre séjour.
