Reviewed May 28, 2026Our stay at Acacia Bay Bach - Views, Spa & Serenity in Taupo was absolutely unforgettable. Don is truly an exemplar host who goes above and beyond to ensure his guests have the perfect experience. His communication was outstanding, making us feel so welcome and at home right from the start. The view from the property is simply breathtaking. Taking in the panoramic sights of Lake Taupo and the surrounding mountains was a massive highlight of our trip. Don pays incredible attention to the small details, which elevated our stay—finding Lindt chocolate waiting for us was such a sweet and thoughtful touch! The studio itself was immaculately clean, and the provided amenities were exactly what we needed, especially the incredibly convenient washing machine and dryer setup. But the absolute best part of the accommodation is the jacuzzi. Relaxing in the spa while soaking in those unmatched views of the lake and mountains is an experience we won’t soon forget. I highly recommend booking this beautiful spot at 25 Wakeman Road. Thank you, Don, for an incredible stay! We can't wait to return.

Maybe just to have a small electric stove in the kitchen so we can cook simple breakfast.

Le logement se situe à seulement quelques minutes du centre de Taupo et des commodités. Il est spacieux, la literie est confortable et la vue est superbe. Le spa constitue un véritable atout supplémentaire. Enfin, l’hôte a fait preuve d’une grande gentillesse et a été très attentionné tout au long de notre séjour. Ce fut un réel plaisir de le rencontrer. Nous recommandons vivement ce logement.

The bbq could do with a clean but otherwise the place is 10/10.

Reviewed May 11, 2025Had plenty of parking. Was private little space underneath main house. Had a spa which was lovely on cold nights early mornings and in the rain was beautiful with a view. Host Donovan was awesome bloke and very helpful to me on our stay would 100% recommend and me and my partner will stay here again. Property is located close to Taupo and lots of hidden gems. Donovan is an awesome respectful host with great knowledge of the area.
Nothing really was everything that was described in description. The toilet is a bit of a squeeze but is mentioned in description and a second bathroom is provided to compensate but not a problem at all with this place.

Reviewed Apr 27, 2025Property was in the perfect location for my group. Everyone had their own space and was big enough for us all to hang out together! Don was very easy to communicate with also.
Please note we noted you said not to move any furniture but there was however an extra friend (a little mouse) that came from the rubbish bin cupboard and we tried to catch it so some couches were moved in order to try and find it. Note also the oven in the kitchen when used just about completely pulled out of the hole. I assume the brackets holding it in have come loose.

Reviewed Mar 24, 2025Easy checkin and chackout process. Accacia bay is located 6min drive from Taupo center, it is very quiet and relaxing spot. We had a room with a view on the lake and we could use jacuzzi provided by the host which was great. Room is big , bed very comfortable, big size kitchen and small bathroom however host offered bigger one - for us it was more than enough. Host - Don is very friednly and supportive. If I could I would stay longer.

Reviewed Feb 7, 2025The absolute highlight of this place is the hot tub and the nice views! It’s very clean and our host was super friendly and accommodating. We didn’t find the bathroom too small, as some have mentioned. Whakamoenga Point is just a few minutes drive away and has fantastic and secluded lava stone beaches, perfect for jumping into the water for a refreshing swim.
The sofa bed is quite soft and really suitable only for children. There is a good electrical bbq on the yard for making burgers and steaks, but there is no stove so you can’t boil pasta or fry eggs. Acacia Bay is outside the pickup area of the Tongariro Alpine Crossing shuttles, so you need to get into Taupo proper to get picked up.

Reviewed Nov 4, 2024We loved Acacia Bay so much!! Our fav stay in New Zealand, and we have slept in 5 different locations! Don, the host was suuuuuuper nice and his hospitality is extraordinary. The apartament that we got had private access to the terrace and we literally had private jacuzzi as at the time there were no other people there! So cool! The host gave us super nice welcome gift, went for us to the Main street upon arrival when we got lost, also left us nice messages and access to washing and drying area.
The apartment could have a little more space to unpack. Everything more was just perfect :)

Kitchen only had microwave, no other cooking facilities, so more a kitchenette than full kitchen so we couldn't really cook meals and had to opt for take out all nights. Toilet set up was not ideal. Toilet blocked and drained slowly.

However, the highlight of our stay was Don, the host. He was the best host we’ve ever had—kind, attentive, and always making sure we were okay. Don truly made us feel welcome, like we were at home. We can’t recommend this place enough!

Reviewed Aug 2, 2024We had a wonderful time at Acacia Bay in Taupo. This apartment is in a beautiful location with an amazing view and spa. We really enjoyed stargazing in the spa at night. The heating in the apartment was great, we didn't feel cold at all. Don was really welcoming and he gave us some wonderful recommendations for Taupo. We would definitely recommend Acacia Bay to our friends and family.

Bathroom facilities were very cramped with toilet unable to sit straight so sideon. Shower had a step into it, so hard to manouvre in narrow space with painfull knees. However shower rose great and although in a tiny space the vanity, shower and toilet were good quality.

The welcoming packet of chocolates was great and unexpected. The owner/host was a very friendly, helpful and pleasant person. There is a foodmarket/store about a 2 min drive away as well as a bar. We saw a fish & chip shop a little further along the road. Don, the owner was very knowledgeable about local attractions including the free ones so take advantage of his knowledge if you are a newbie to Taupo. Very restful and NO traffic noise.
