Reviewed Aug 30, 2026The location of the property was great, and the place was clean and comfortable. I especially loved the Ecoya soaps.
The biggest issue with this property was the lack of transparency around pricing and the children’s policy. I tried to make a booking for 2 adults and 2 children, but the available options only allowed me to select 2 adults, 3 adults, or 4 adults. The property’s child policy also states, “All children welcome. Children over 18 will be charged as adults.” Because of this, it was unclear how my two children under 5 would be charged. I contacted the property directly for clarification and was told that children are charged the same rate as adults, at $45 per night. However, this did not seem to match the final amount I was charged, which was $815 for two nights. Overall, I found the pricing structure very confusing and felt that the costs were not explained transparently enough. There were also a few other issues during our stay. The refrigerator had apparently been set to its coldest temperature, which I did not notice until the following morning, when I discovered that everything inside had frozen. There was also a locked door down the hallway that looked quite unsettling. It could not be opened, and there was no explanation of what it was for, which I found a little uncomfortable. Additionally, the automatic hallway lighting was not very effective and could be inconvenient at times. Despite these issues, the property had some positive aspects, but I believe greater transparency around pricing and clearer information about the children’s policy would significantly improve the guest experience.

There was only a microwave to heat food. Luckily we brought a simple salad to eat for dinner. They did have a barbecue set outside, but a bit too cold in 30 F snow/rain weather.

Reviewed Apr 9, 2025We loved staying at Roto View. Very clean, attractive apartment. The view over the lake was lovely and we really enjoyed the three days we were there. The bed was the most comfortable during our NZ holiday.
As others have said, it would be easier to self cater if there was a cooktop in the kitchen but we managed using the microwave and the BBQ. Also, really expected separate shampoo, conditioner, body wash in the showers rather than one product to do the lot!

The kitchen could have been stocked better. For example, there was no bread knife, no scissors. Broken things look like had been broken for a while ... The kitchen could do with a good check and restock. Could hear people walking upstairs - I woke up a couple of time before midnight because of this. I am a light sleeper though. It shouldn't bother good sleepers :) There was no stove in the "full kitchenette". It will be helpful to make this very clear in the description.

Reviewed Jan 22, 2025Spacious, sparkling clean and awesome lake view. It is resided at a higher side of a private property hill area and having a breathtaking lake tekapo view.
An oven or electrical stove will be a plus point for a family to cook simple meal during Christmas when most shops are closed. Nevertheless we made use of the microwave to cook instant meal, so it is better off than nothing.

The bed was super comfortable and the water pressure of the shower was great. Easy check in process. Highly recommend especially for the views!
