Reviewed Jul 25, 2026I loved the opulent furnishings. that suited the period of the house. Also loved the availability of books, games, TV, WiFi etc. Breakfast choices were good and it was nice to have yogurt and chocolate treats! Spacious living, with outside patio, overlooking the garden. Quiet, peaceful, location. My husband was delighted when he realised that he had stayed in this home with the Orbell family when he was a youngster, and formed a lifelong friendship with the family. (After we were married we purchased Dr Orbell's Rakiura holiday home and are still living in it 53 years later!)

I could hear the family moving around next door. It didn’t bother us as such but i wasn’t aware from the description that the house has been divided up and this accommodation is part of a large house.

Tucked away quiet and peaceful very super convenient location.The stunning character features along with so many little extra thoughtful touches Ali has prepared in advance... From the heaters already warmed the whole spacious beautiful rooms to the chocolates and delicious breakfast. Spotlessly cleaned wirh everything was in perfect condition and tastefully decor throughout. Incredible value.

Reviewed Apr 13, 2026It has everything you could need and more, exceeded expectations. A beautiful place to recuperate after several days hiking. Nice garden, very English vibes - felt right at home. I’m from Stoke so it’s always nice to see some Wedgwood. It was super private but the host was lovely and available if anything was needed. Very grateful for the breakfast bits and bobs. Easy parking at the front. Short walk to the local park which is well worth a look around.. there’s an ostrich!

Reviewed Mar 24, 2026We enjoyed a one-night stay at 64Lewis, though wish we could have stayed longer to walk the quiet leafy streets, relax in the well-furnished and beautiful rooms and explore the area more fully. The breakfast items left in the kitchenette were a bonus, ranging from juice, cereals, bread, fresh fruit, milk etc. The historical photos on the walls and variety of books in the living room were interesting. We'd have no hesitation in staying again.
We would have liked a small dining table inside at which to eat our breakfast and dinner. There was just a low coffee table in the lounge. Perhaps the lounge closest to the window could be moved forward to create some space for a small table. Otherwise, all good.

Reviewed Mar 13, 2026We had an exceptional stay at this property on Lewis Street in Invercargill. The home was spotless, warm, and incredibly comfortable after a day of exploring. Everything was thoughtfully set up and very well maintained, which made it feel relaxing the moment we walked in. The location was perfect—quiet and peaceful but still very close to town, making it easy to get around. The beds were extremely comfortable and the house had everything we needed for a great stay. What really stood out was the attention to detail and how welcoming the place felt. It’s clear the hosts take great pride in presenting a beautiful property for guests. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Invercargill. One of the best places we’ve stayed!

Reviewed Jan 9, 2026A hidden gem in a lesser-known town, off the beaten path. The photos don't do justice. The small apartment is calm and quiet , clean and tidy, and beautifully decorated. I even found my favourite book on the shelves and read it during our stay. The generous continental breakfast is a massive bonus.

Tastefully decorated, with everything we needed for a 2 night stay, racks for luggage, space for clothes, a gorgeous living room, kitchenette and bathroom - a real sense of space. The view from the bedroom over the garden was lovely, roses peeping through the window. We didn't need a hob to cook on. As well as all that we were supplied with breakfast - cereal, milk, yogurt, bread, butter jam, orange juice, and plenty of fruit. So generous!

The breakfast that "was included" contained of few pieces of bread, butter, jam, peanut butter and 2 small yogurts. So to say that it was" including breakfast" was a little misleading. We had breakfast in town.

Reviewed Oct 8, 2025An elegant and generally very comfortable place to stay. Although you need transport to get to the centre of the city, there was a very good restaurant within walking distance.
Some aspects of the breakfast provided did not quite match up to the standard of the accommodation (eg bread and accompaniments). There is no table or bench to sit at to eat breakfast. Although the rooms were generally lovely and warm, the bathroom didn’t have a heater so was less warm.

Host appeared stressed and slightly irritated and asked us to leave until 6pm as room not cleaned as 'we were a late booking and she wasnt expecting anyone'. We went out for tea. If room not ready possibly don't have it as available. Very unwelcoming start to the visit
