Reviewed Aug 24, 2025El apartamento está muy bien - todo es nuevo- y el trato del anfitrión excelente. Está muy cerca del aeropuerto.
El Barrio y la calle dónde está situado. Está muy cerca del aeropuerto y, por lo tanto, es muy buena opción si solamente te hospedas allí unas horas. Es importante tener coche para poder ir a comer. Allí al lado no hay nada. Nosotros además hemos tenido la mala suerte de ser sábado y que los vecinos tuvieran la música muy fuerte.

No había energía eléctrica por un tema de la localidad pero tenían generador que lo único que no cubriría era el aire acondicionado el resto si y ya al estar instalados me dice que podemos buscar otro lugar sin pena.... Porque no lo dijo antes de llegar...era un horno el apartamento daba la sensación que nos controlaban, porque pagaban las luces por ratos y quitaban el agua, y el personal ya no me respondió los mensajes ya que ni televisión se podía ver... Llevamos 2 niños y le pedía que nos ayudarán a programar el internet en la tv y no respondió la anfitriona... Más bien me dijo que cerrará la ventana... En todo momento sentíamos que nos veían... Le dije que nos íbamos a las 3:00 am. Ya había energía en la localidad y el apartamento no tenía luz ni agua con los celulares nos alistamos... Pusieron el agua y luz 5 minutos antes de irnos ...terrible!!!

La cama estaba sucia debajo de las sábanas había papel higiénico usado, entonces nos dio la impresión que la cama la habían tendido pero no habían cambiado y lavado las sábanas desde la última vez que alguien estuvo allí.

Reviewed Apr 13, 2025From the moment I arrived, Henderson went above and beyond to ensure that I had an amazing stay. The apartment is clean, comfortable and very quiet. Perfect for getting some much needed sleep before or after a flight. He offered an very affordable drop off service at the airport early in the morning so I arrived with plenty of time for my flight. He really went above and beyond to help me. He event came into the airport to find me to ask if something belonged to me that had been left in his car. Henderson really cares about his guests and their comfort and that's why I'll definitely return again. He made me feel like family! Thank you!

Reviewed Apr 11, 2025I particularly like the young couple who are the host. They speak English and are extremely friendly, helpful, kind and hospitable. They offer taxi services to pick and drop off. They help me to order dinner. The property is adequate and extremely clean
The hotel is in a safe location but lacking the immediate access to shops as meaning downstairs or on the same street. However you can request the host to take you to the shops if necessary. There is a kitchen with a stove for making coffee but I would have liked a small pot or frying pan to cook some instant noodles

Location couldn't be found. Contacted the " manager " by email via booking...took a minimum of 20-30 mins to respond. Asked for address & never supplied. Then insulted me by saying I couldn't read a map ( gps...with the only location given as the " merengue house"). There was never an address given....this BLOWS MY MIND! But I guess that how they do it in the D.R

Nothing. The only negative thing I could possibly say is that I had to slap the A/C remote control a couple of times for it to work. There also was no floor fan, but with all the jungle green around the property, the mosquitos would have been an issue with the windows open.

Reviewed May 9, 2024Great little place close to the airport - perfect for a night before or after a flight. Hosts were very communicative and flexible. Place was clean and amenities were exactly what we needed.
Note that you need to pay in cash - this caught us out because it wasn't clear on Booking.com. Not the hosts fault, but keep in mind as there isn't an atm close by.

Reviewed Apr 8, 2024The address provided in the booking confirmation is incorrect/incomplete. My taxi driver couldn’t find the property. After asking around we finally found out it was a block over. Because of this delay I arrived 10min later than the time I had announced. I found the property closed in the dark with no one there. No one answered the phone or messages I sent through the app. I ended up booking a different property and didn’t stay at Merengue House.

Reviewed Feb 16, 2024You get more than you pay for. It was a pleasure to stay at Merengue Guest house. The accommodation is modern, beautiful and super clean. The bed is very comfortable. The house is pretty much secured and the owners live in the same House. You can feel safe and comfortable there. The owner showed us a second Appartement and it was as nice as the Appartement we booked. We booked the drive service as well. We got picked up at the airport and next day we got driven to a bus terminal for further travel. The owner was so nice and helpful and speaks English pretty well. Without asking for, he offered to call our next accommodation to ensure we take the correct bus. He even took some extra minutes at the bus terminal to help us booking the correct bus. We highly recommend this guesthouse!

Reviewed Feb 3, 2024The host was so kind and the place was beautiful! I arranged for pick-up and drop-off to and from the airport with Merengue House for $30. I had to deal with some luggage delay issues with my airline and the host was so generous and patient to wait for me. He also dropped me off early to the airport at 3AM. Very accommodating, excellent communication, and felt safe. The place was clean and spacious with a comfy bed and big TV with Netflix. I enjoyed my stay and would highly recommend staying here!

Refrigerator didn’t work at all there was no air conditioner. Only one towel. Roaches in the apartment. This was the worst place, I’ve ever stayed in boca chica.

Reviewed Feb 13, 2023The flat is in great condition, it is spacious and has all you need - much better than in more popular destinations. The communication with the host was also great, he is very responsive and collected us from the bus station and also took us to the airport at 4 am. Internet was okay too. It is great if you need a place to crash before you leave as the airport is a 10min drive. There is also a colmado just around the corner.
The location isn't great, I mean, if you want to go get something to eat. The host offers an option to order food but the place was strange - we asked for prices and they asked what we want to eat in order to give the pricing for the food - and it was a restaurant. This is by no means the flat owner's fault. However, we did manage to find a nice chuleta at the gas station - the way to get there although not long, was a little sketchy.
