Authentic farm stay with beautiful family on fantastic organic Permaculture farm. My second visit and I'll be back. True farm to table food and wonderful hospitality. It was so good to return after my first visit many years ago. It is a great base for walks to surrounding areas like Namo Buddha. There are opportunities to take part in farm activities as well. It's a great hands-on experience and not too far from Kathmandu. The views of the Himalayas on a clear day are awe-inspiring. I stayed for 7 nights and would have stayed longer. Very relaxing
Exceptional experience of not just Nepali hospitality, nature and Quality food but of what it means to be human and care for the land and for each other regardless of race, gender, national origin (and species). Come to HASERA if you want to see a model of living in gratitude, selflessness, laughter, constant learning and hardcore chilling. Great place to orient to Nepal, rejuvenate after time in the crusty city of Kathmandu or heal your mind and gut after your long travels. Behind the Dhital family's humility is an ever expanding old growth forest of indigenous knowledge in stewarding land and the relationships with people that inhabit or visit it. I found myself looking forward to every meal not just for the nutritious, vibrant local food but for the people who prepared it and who I got to share it with. Cannot recommend enough to those who are willing to listen/learn/play and participate in the change we desperately need in our cultures and societies of today. Go see for yourself!
The food is delicious, local, organic, and creative (and cooked with love). The family and staff are so welcoming and make you feel like you are a part of the family. Everyone is very excited to answer questions and extend as much support to visitors as possible. Above all, everyone is joyful and humorous, which makes the stay at HASERA all the more enjoyable. Can't recommend enough!
Wish I could live there forever!
Organska hrana, odlična organizacija, ljubazno osoblje.
Kada pada kiša napajanje strujom je nestabilno.
Spending two months at Hasera Permaculture Centre during my master's thesis fieldwork in Nepal turned out to be so much more than just accommodation, it really became a home away from home. From day one, the family made me feel completely at ease. Their warmth, care, and genuine kindness created such a comforting space, especially while being far from home for an extended period. Govinda ji and Mithu ji, along with their beautiful family Bibek ji and Bigyan ji, Srinu didi, Rabina didi, and little Sunnu, they are truly special people, bringing this place to life in the most wholesome way. You never feel like a guest, but a part of the family. The farm is incredible and inspiring with strong elements of farm sustainability, regenerative practices and permaculture in place. The passionate farm tours they take you on are another highlight. You can really feel their deep love for the land and learn so much about permaculture hands-on. The experience of harvesting and eating food grown right there is something I always cherished. The open kitchen creates a beautiful farm-to-fork experience, where you can cook, and share meals together. Everyone was also so thoughtful and supportive, helping me arrange transport for my field visits and even packing food for me when needed. The extended “farm family", Monica didi and Sunita didi, added so much warmth to the daily life there along with Mo (the incredibly friendly farm dog), the cows and the fluffy chicken that loved being petted. The sustainable sewing workshop, an inspiring, women-led initiative creating handmade, reusable organic sanitary products and bags is also definitely worth visiting while you’re there. Overall, Hasera is not just a place that offers a stay and food, but a deeply immersive, nurturing, and authentic experience. Hasera is truly special. I left with not just memories, but meaningful connections and a sense of belonging I didn’t expect to find so far from home.
Great people and fantastic food. The place was clean and comfortable. They have hot showers and a washing machine. People are super nice and helpful.
The hosting family are kind and warm, the food is amazing and the environment is so calm. Felt like home❤️
The place is lovely, the family is very, very nice and it was great to see the smart lifestyle they live.
The most appealing thing about Hasera is the incredible work that the family does to promote permaculture, and their incredible hard work and commitment to staying true to those principles. It was inspiring. I loved the farm/smallholding and that things like the tea that they served was grown on site, and that we could participate in processing the tea! Bibek was a mine of useful information and tips to optimal use of land. I also liked that guests ate together and we spent time with the family getting to know them. They are lovely people!
The rooms and facilities are basic, so be prepared, but then it isn’t set up to be a 5 star hotel. It’s also right by the PB Highway so there is a certain amount of traffic noise.
A wonderful family farmstay, this place has everything you need: beautiful mountains, warm community, the best organic food, comfy rooms, inspiring permaculture organic farming knowledge. Just come here!
Nothing
The whole family and all staff are very kind and I immediately felt very much at home. Lots of interesting conversations and laughter were also included.
I loved my stay in HASERA, I really felt being part of the family, everyone is very friendly and welcoming. The location and place is very beautiful, it is a very quiet place surrounded by lush nature. We had some amazing momo making experience and all meals were delicious and organic! I would love to go back!
Wow, what a nice place! Thank you guys so much! I really enjoyed staying at your farm (it’s now my number one recommendation to everyone I meet that wants to discover Nepal) Don’t miss out going there! If you love eating incredibly delicious food, are interested in permaculture and love to be surrounded by lovely people you will definitely find them there. I really pay big respect for what you guys do, I think it’s so important that we take care of our nature and spread the knowledge on how to do it. Hopefully see you guys again someday.
The stay at Hasera is definitely one of most precious memories and moment in life. The whole family treat me like one of their family members with lots of love and joy. We eat, learn and sharing lots of things together. It’s a family with the most love I’ve ever seen. Really beautiful place and people with kindness and amazing way to live with Nature, the mother earth. Highly recommend.
I love the family atmosphere here. The family is very friendly and hospitable. They have received guests from many different countries and truly know how to make you feel at home. Also as a vegetarian, it’s amazing to have fresh vegetables from their own farm daily—farm to table. It’s simple here but you can get all the basics you need. Hot water, Wi-Fi, healthy food, and the feeling of home away from home :)
There are mosquitoes here, but just ask for a mosquito repellent plug or a net for your room. You will be able to sleep through the night just fine.
I visited Hasera two years after attending a permaculture course they led near Santiniketan in Bengal. I was so impressed by their patience and clarity, apart from their knowledge, that I wanted to see what the source of this energy was. Hasera is a 30+ year commitment to a principled way of living in harmony with the land. Despite hosting grateful travellers from 120+ countries and holding numerous workshops and trainings for all sorts of organisations and farmers, they are committed to living within the means of the farm to set a tangible and believable example for farmers all over Nepal. I did not take too many pictures because i was so immersed in the experience. The entire family lives, works, cooks and celebrates together - and you are invited into their hearth and hearts. Every meal is unique with almost all ingredients sourced directly from the farm, or sourced from farmers and food processors that value organic farming and preserving nutrition. There is a lot to love here. The amazing view of the paanch khaal valley and the hills beyond, and the snowy peaks even further on (on clear days). The dog, the goats, the cow, the chickens. But I will hold this place special because of the good energy here - both of the hosts and the type of travellers you meet here. Every person I met gave me something to learn and live by. Hope to see you here at some point, I know I will keep revisiting Hasera every time I'm in Nepal. Love, metta and energy to you 🙏🏾🪷✨
Hasera is a lovely permaculture farm hosted by a wonderful family who is committed to sharing the principles and values of sustainable farming.
I have no words to describe the heart and warmth of this amazing family. Everything was at the highest level – the rooms, the cleanliness, the food, and most of all, the people. I enjoyed every moment with them. I highly recommend coming here to escape the noise of central Kathmandu, experience a beautiful way of life, and learn so much from them. I’m sure I’ll be back to stay again.

The nature and environment, most of all the family
The team is wonderful! They made us feel at home — the place is beautiful and peaceful. We came to stay at the farm while a course was taking place, and they welcomed us to join any classes we wanted, cook with the team in the kitchen, and gave us a tour of the garden.
The family is very warm, loving and welcoming. They want to take good care of you (delicious food!) and teach you things about farming and Nepal. I was really happy to be there even though I was feeling sick, I felt I was at the right place. They are in for a laugh and make you feel like you’re a part of the family. I was touched by their kindness.
The animals at the property should have more space to walk around freely and enjoy nature. (I would have give higher score if that would be the case.) Hasera has such a big influence on farming in the entire area. They could make a change for the wellbeing of the animals in the village and in the bigger picture in Nepal too. That’s my wish for the animals in Nepal. Also, it would be great if the diet changes back to a more vegetarian/vegan based diet (of which Hasera is a good example already!)
I stayed for 3 nights and could easily stay much longer. My stay at Hasera is definitely one of my highlights of my trip in Nepal. The whole family was so happy to receive you and made you feel like home. If you look for some quite stay near KTM , OR want to learn something new about perma culture gardening, OR curious about Nepali cooking that’s the place to be. Definitely a place to come back.
Amazing family!!! We had the best time in Hasera and we enjoyed every second. The house and farm are beautiful, the atmosphere is so relaxing and peaceful, the view of the mountains are just stunning, food is delicious, everything is clean and comfortable. And most important - the family is so kind, helpful and inspiring. We will definitely visit again!
The family is kind and soo lovely. They will help you out, offer you activities and make greaaaat food! It’s a really nice place to stay, and to just be!
The host family is a living example of permaculture - from the way they manage their land to how they welcome their guests and invite them into daily life. It is a very nourishing place to stay and connect to the local organic farming community of Nepal. I stayed for 10 days and loved helping out a little in the garden. I am so grateful for their kind and generous hospitality - I almost didn’t want to leave! They really felt like family. Perhaps I’ll come back and do the permaculture design course another time…
I loved that the bathroom facilities were simple and outside, but that’s something people might want to know. It is just off a main road so if you are really sensitive to noise it’s also something to be aware of :)
From the moment we arrived, we felt calm and at ease – the atmosphere is simply magical. The family who runs the place are amazing, warm-hearted people who made us feel like part of their community in no time. The food was excellent – all organic, fresh, and straight from their own fields. It’s the perfect combination of relaxing, enjoying the beautiful scenery, connecting with nature, and also having the chance to learn and help out on the farm. A truly special experience – I highly recommend it, and suggest planning to stay for a few days to really take it all in.
Wish everyone experience this. A special experience with this warm family and their Permaculture. You can hike, enjoy nature or help at the farm. Recommend this place. Very close to Kathmandu 🙏
I had an amazing time at Hasera! The whole family make you feel at home and as a part of the family right away. They cook amazing food with ingrediënts that come straignt from the farm and they are very willing to teach You about the cooking and farming they do, which is worth knowing about! Bigyan and Bibek where also super helpfull in planning the rest of my trip. I hope I get to come back some time!
My first days in Nepal couldn't have been more special. At Hasera Farmstay, I was warmly welcomed by Bigyan and his wonderful family. I found peace here, surrounded by the beautiful landscapes of the farm, the nearby villages, and the monastery. Every meal was shared with the family and made entirely from organic, homegrown produce. Being able to contribute a little to this by helping out in the garden and milking the cows made the experience even more complete. I can wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone.

Lovely setting on a farm, growing all their own food and a very friendly and accommodating family as hosts.
There’s a bit of noise from the road, but nothing too bad
Staying at Hasera has truly been one of the most special experiences of my time in Nepal. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed like family. The warmth, kindness, and hospitality of everyone here made it feel like a second home! The family is incredibly caring and always willing to help or think along with you, making sure you feel comfortable! I stayed here for almost a month, and after traveling, I decided to return for another stay. Coming back to Hasera felt just like coming home again! And the food…it’s so good!! Fresh from the garden!! Would love to come back another time! :)
I enjoyed my stay at Hasera Permaculture very much - the Hasera family made me feel part of their family, everybody is very nice, the food was delicious, the place is peaceful, you can learn a lot, relax, just be, walk around, enjoy the garden, etc. Thank you Hasera family :)
Interesting permaculture & garden. Delicious food and very friendly family
With beautiful views, the most delicious home-cooked meals, and the sweetest family making you feel at home as soon as you arrive, we had the best time at Hasera Farm! After spending a month in the city, we wanted a break and some time in nature, and this was a nice getaway. They have great wifi and plenty of tables on the property for working. We enjoyed walking around the farm and visiting the nearby town. We also pet the goats and their sweet dog. Overall, we had a lovely time, wish we could've stayed longer, and can't wait to go back one day! :)
I had an amazing experience at Hasera! The family is so inspiring and welcoming. I recommend to everyone who are interested in permaculture, local food, nature and sharing. The food is also very good. I would definitely like to come back for a longer time and i would like to participate to their classes!!
Wonderful stay at HASERA❤️ Delicious organic food from the garden and good hospitality of the whole family, simple lifestyle, slow but full of authentic and vitality. It's not just a place to stay, it involves more especially you're interested in sustainable living and permaculture. I wish I can stay longer, I would visit again next time visit Nepal.
The staff are very Nice. There is a Nice View From all over the property.
The property is just next to a traffical Road where the buses and other vehicle are using there horns very much.
Everyone on the farm were really friendly. The place was amazing. And the food was really good.
The area is near a very heavy noisy street! There were many women for working there and no time to take care of me. I left immediately.
Lovely farm and family, comfortable room and communal spaces. Easily accessible by public transit from Kathmandu and good hiking once you’ve arrived. A wonderful place to stay and learn about agriculture, meet other travelers, and eat Nepali meals.
The location provides stunning views of the hills. The farm and the Hasera family are both very inspiring. They provide you the finest organic food made from crops and vegetables grown on farms. A great place for anyone who enjoys being in nature and working on farms
Best family, food and accomodation! Very open and sweet family, always ready to talk and share nice tea talks :)) Nice place for people who enjoy being in nature, farms and wants to know more about permaculture.
My time at Hasera was exceptionally amazing. The location is beautiful, tucked in nature with gorgeous views of the hills. The farm is very inspiring, and so is the team at Hasera. They're very loving, warm, and welcoming people. I had wonderful interactions with Bibek Ji, who is also a trainer and facilitator for different learning programs at Hasera. The food is wholesome, nutritious, diverse, clean, and organic. The stay was comfortable and cosy. There are also quite a few attractions close to Hasera which can be done as day visits. I'm so glad I made this choice, and can't wait to return for a longer stay. I can't recommend Hasera enough to anyone coming from any part of the world! This place has my heart!
Lovely people, lots to learn about sustainable agriculture, great food!
I felt incredibly welcome during my stay. The hosts were kind and I liked how they invited me in activities like planting seeds or making momos. The view from the place was so beautiful and it’s a nice walk to Namobuddha. I found HASERA a inspiring place to learn more about organic practices and I’d love to come back some time.
