Gemoedsrus Farm is a hidden gem that offers an exceptional holiday experience. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality. Linda, our host, went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect. Her attentiveness and local knowledge made us feel right at home and truly enhanced our experience. The accommodation was superb. Our room was not only comfortable but also well-equipped, providing everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The location is a big plus too; it’s conveniently situated, making it easy to explore nearby attractions. Breakfast was a highlight, thanks to Loveness, who kept our rooms immaculate and provided excellent service each morning. Her friendly demeanor and attention to detail made breakfast a delightful affair. Blessing took care of the beautiful gardens and grounds, ensuring everything was well-maintained and inviting. His dedication added to the overall charm of the farm. We truly enjoyed our time at Gemoedsrus Farm and can't wait to return. This place has everything you could wish for in a holiday retreat—great hospitality, cleanliness, and a prime location. Highly recommend!

The pool

The cottage is old and dilapidated. Manager and staff had an utter lack of interest whether we were ok or not during 24 hour power failure. Didn’t see the staff once. No curtains in the bathroom which faced the staff entrance/ exit. Whatever you do, do not book yourself into the cottage. A total ripoff.

Beautiful house, spotlessly clean, loved all the decor. The views from the garden absolutely stunning! The breakfast was simply the best! The farmhouse is in a very peaceful location and we felt very safe.

Absolutely stunning! This was my second stay, three years later, and the property and views are still as beautiful. Linda is a great host and the staff was very helpful, loved the breakfasts they prepared.

Prachtige locatie met mooi uitzicht. Linda is een heel fijne en gezellige gast vrouw. Ze waren ook heel gezellig met onze dochter van 2. Die mocht mee de eendjes voeren. Heerlijk ontbijt. Echt een fijne plek die voelde als thuis.

Wir wurden herzlichst empfangen. Die Location, die Einrichtung und die Beherbergung waren sehr toll und einzigartig. Von dem riesigen Garten aus hat man einen super Blick auf das Bergpanorama, die Sonnenuntergänge waren einmalig. Das Frühstück war wirklich 10/10 - grossartige Auswahl und alles selbstgemacht. Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt sehr genossen und können es nur wärmstens weiterempfehlen.

Gute Lage mit traumhaftem Blick auf die umliegenden Berge. Sehr freundliche und hilfsbereite Gastgeberin. Wir hatten unseren Rückflug am Abend und konnten bis zum Nachmittag unser Gepäck in der Unterkunft lassen und ein separates Badezimmer benutzen. Sehr gutes Frühstück.

The rooms that we had have no airco. Not really an issue during our stay (relatif cold wheather and we had a downstairs room). Some of the rooms are upstairs though (our kids had one of those) and it can be warm there.

I am not someone who usually leaves reviews, especially negative ones. However, this experience requires honesty. This was one of the worst accommodation experiences we have had, despite travelling extensively. The property is poorly maintained and does not reflect the listing or the price charged. The cottage feels improvised, neglected, and far below acceptable standards. Cleanliness was unacceptable. On the first night, we had to wake up repeatedly to catch mosquitoes in the room. There were spiders inside, and the overall condition felt dirty and unmanaged. The shower drain was clogged, causing water to accumulate while showering, a basic maintenance issue that should never happen in paid accommodation. There was not even internet in the cottage, which is unacceptable for a property marketed to international travelers. We also arrived in the evening to find no proper lighting due to electrical issues, with only partial emergency systems functioning. In a country where power outages are common, a generator or proper backup system should be provided. Guests should not be left without basic utilities. The breakfast was good, but unfortunately that alone is not enough to compensate for the overall poor experience. Traveling with two children, this created unnecessary stress and discomfort. This stay did not justify the price and was far below expectations. Significant improvements are urgently needed. Would not recommend in its current condition.

We had an absolutely amazing stay at Gemoedsrus Farm! The staff here is beyond kind and friendly – they made us feel so welcome and really went out of their way to make everything perfect. The location is stunning, with beautiful views all around that you just don’t want to leave. The rooms and facilities are spotless and super comfortable, and the food is delicious – fresh, well-prepared, and just perfect after a day of exploring. Everything about this place just screams care and attention, and it’s clear the team genuinely loves what they do. Highly recommended for families, couples, or anyone wanting a relaxing and memorable stay!

Besonders, eine Farm als Gästehaus, der Ort hat uns sehr gut gefallen. Die Anlage ist in die Jahre gekommen aber sehr gepflegt mit wunderschönem Garten. Tolles Frühstück nette Gastgeberin und freundliches Personal

Es war sehr schön bei Linda. Das Zimmer hatte alles was man braucht, der Garten, Pool und die Aussicht waren ein Traum. Egal zu welcher Tageszeit. Unser Baby hat den Garten geliebt. Das Frühstück lässt keine Wünsche offen- für groß und klein. Nur zu empfehlen.

Heerlijke locatie voor een paar dagen Stellenbosch. Landelijk ingericht huis en kamers, vanwege de ligging op een heuvel een fantastisch uitzicht over de bergketen achter Stellenbosch, ruime tuin met een zwembad. Ontzettend rustig. Het ontbijt was genereus en goed van smaak!

Le petit déjeuner avec une vue magnifique, très complet et une vaisselle raffinée. Les chambres très spacieuses, charmantes et le bâtiment -avec son toit de chaume- doté d’un charme unique. Notre hôtesse, qui a su dispenser d’excellents conseils sur la région avec un goût très sûr. La situation géographique, proche à la fois de Stellenbosch et de Franschoek.

We love the beautiful villa and garden as well as Linda’s exceptional hospitality. The whole family enjoyed the extraordinary breakfast and Linda’s staff is as well very, very friendly. Location is very suitable to explore the winelands. We have been here the 2nd time, would always come back and always recommend to friends who are looking for an accommodation in the winelands.

We hebben er 3 nachten verbleven zonder electriciteit, water en sanitaire voorziening. We hebben hiervoor geen compensatie gekregen, de bazin was enorm arrogant tegenover ons en onbegripvol. Daarnaast was het zwembad niet goed onderhouden en was de cottage niet in verhouding met de prijs tegenover de andere kamers.

The property is beautiful, we loved the garden, the pool and the location a lot. The staff was super friendly and Linda did everything to make sure we were having a wonderful time.

The grounds, property are exceptional if you're looking for a quiet, relaxing, and scenic experience. You'll need to be self-sufficient (bring your own wine, food) as there aren't places within walking distance. The breakfast experience was exceptional. Quality and quantity of food exceeded my expectations!

Exceptional stay! Linda, the host, as well as all the staff were brilliant… friendly, helpful and accommodating. The property is cozy and the views amazing. Breakfast is 5 stars! Specially the cinnamon rolls and french toasts … yum yum

Великолепное место! Красивый, ухоженный дом, сад, территория. Просторные номера со всем необходимым. Очень приветливая хозяйка! Посоветовала нам отличный ресторан в отеле рядом. Вежливый персонал. Прекрасный вкусный завтрак с чудесным видом на виноградники. Не хотелось уезжать, обязательно вернемся!

Awesome property, beautiful, very spacious bedrooms and a remarkable view from the huge gardens

Beautiful house in spectacular location. We received a warm welcome from Linda. Breakfasts consisted of farm produce from the farm and were delicious. Very relaxed environment close to Stellenbosch with wonderful views of the mountains. Would highly recommend.

The location was fantastic! The B&B itself was spacious, clean, beautifully decorated and wit a lovely host! Great breakfast every morning, with a stunning view of Stellenbosch. The host Linda was absolutely wonderful. What a lovely and caring lady with tons of good ideas and tips to do. We couldn’t ask for anything else during our stay. We will definitely be coming back again and I would highly recommend Gemoedsrus farm to anyone thinking of going to South Africa/Cape Town

The farm is just stunning! Both the outside as well as rhe inside are spectacular and the view tops it all. We been around stellenbosch to many places, but the view from the farm is the best we've seen. Very friendly host with lovely cats and the breakfast is as good as the comments say.

Unique, peaceful and reserved, amazing living room and very helpful kitchen, the Owner was amazing, and the place is just magnificent. Room 10! we will visit again soon

Breakfast was good, but at 08h30 it was too late for us. I assume for some guests that might be ok but not ok if you have to be at work by 07h45. The management and staff are good and professional The main house (homestead/manor) is very nice and great facilities.

My comments relate to the cottage that I stayed in and not the main house where the facilities are very good: 1. In my view from the balcony there is a constructed rubbish dump. That is very unpleasant. 2. The Jacuzzi is clearly not maintained and the rain water inside is now a breeding ground for mosquitos. We had lotsa issues with mosquitos at night. 3. The shrubs in and around the cottage needs to be trimmed so that the pathway from the verandah is more accessible. 4. No place in the bathroom to place things in the shower so you have to use the floor 5. No TV 6. WIFI does not reach the cottage 7. No aircon 8. No sanitary bin on bathroom 9. Shower was flooding. Not draining properly 10. Bathroom window does not have a curtain All in all, the main house is very nice but the cottage is NOT at the same level.

The setting is perfection itself as is the interior. It’s a very comfortable house - welcoming. Linda, her family and the staff are wonderful. We felt very at home. And the breakfast is really 5 star.

There’s nothing I didn’t like.

The breakfast was an unexpected delight with figs included in the fruit salad and duck eggs as an option. I also enjoyed the fresh lemon and ginger tea brewing in the tea pot. The beds were very comfy too and Linda was a superb hostess.

Gorgeous estate, with a beautiful garden, incredible view over the winelands and the food is a-ma-zing!! Linda is such a great host, we couldn't recommend it more!

No AC, no mosquito nets and worst of all also Fan didn’t work as all sockets in our room didn’t work. Repair couldn’t take place as owner said she didn’t have any key as we had all the keys and we were out. How amateuristic.

I cannot express how much our stay exceeded our expectations. We booked a last minute trip on our way back to Cape Town Airport, having spent Christmas with family elsewhere. Staying at Gemoedsrus Farm was a real treat - the house is absolutely stunning, facilities excellent, staff welcoming, views phenomenal. For the price we paid, this all came at exceptional value. Linda (owner of the property) is a wonderful lady, and we felt privileged to stay with her. There are so many wine farms, both famous and lesser known, within a very short driving distance, and Ubers/taxis are readily available in the area. We will definitely look to rebook on our next visit.

A beautifull colonial style house that is personally and beautifully decorated in a stunning setting in the middle of the vineyards and only a few minutes drive from Stellenbosch. Linda is the best host you could imagine. The place feels like home.

The property was so beautiful, the view was so amazing, the pool so relaxed and the stuff super friendly. Loved everything about it. It’s relatively close to the Stellenbosch center by car and surrounded by wine farms. You must try the included breakfast. It’s to die for!
