Serene Villa Hiriketiya

The property was nice and as described. The team were very friendly and very helpful and the location was good, just up a steep hill which after a week gets a bit tiresome but it’s a small price to pay.

We picked the 1 bed apartment room for the privacy and view but we’re not told beforehand that there was construction going on for the property directly outside of our room, so the privacy element was basically gone from 8am to 6pm rendering the balcony useless. There is a pretty bad ant infestation problem in the room, even after leaving some open food sealed up in my backpack, a few hours later it’s covered in ants. I wouldn’t say for the extra price it’s worth staying in that room, there is likely much better value staying in another.

Serene Villa is such a lovely place to stay. Swarna and her team really looked after us for our 5 night stay. The breakfast buffet was really good with lovely omelettes and eggs available too. The coffee is a small extra charge but well worth it as it was delicious. We stayed in two rooms with our teenage daughters on the ground floor, and they were really spacious with extras like a fridge, kettle, hairdryer. The gym is limited but I used the spin bike each day which was all I needed. The beach is only about 150m away. This is down a steep hill but was good exercise for us. Lots of restaurants on the doorstep in both directions. The pool was smaller than we thought but was perfect for a dip to cool off after a hot day. Thank you Swarna and the Serene Villas team for making our stay in Hiriketiya so memorable.

Beautiful room and stunning shower. The room had a deck overlooking the jungle. Super clean and very comfortable bed. Delicious breakfast and helpful staff. The pool was refreshing and very clean.

The villa was easy to find and a very convenient location to the beach, bars and restaurants around! Everything was clean and comfortable. The staff were really helpful and friendly they did an amazing job and were quick to respond. Hoping to book again!

Everything was perfect except for the breakfast, not a lot of variety could do better on the menu.

We enjoyed our stay here overall and the room was much bigger than expected — it felt more like a small apartment than a standard hotel room, which gave us plenty of space to relax. The breakfast each morning was very good, especially the freshly made omelettes. We also loved spotting monkeys in the trees around the property which made the setting feel really special and tropical. The location was excellent, with easy access to both Hiriketiya Beach and Dickwella Beach, so it was a great base for exploring the area. The staff were also very welcoming and helpful with our luggage, and we were greeted with fresh juice on arrival which was a lovely touch. Overall, a spacious and comfortable stay in a really good location.

A couple of small downsides — there was a power cut during our stay and the bathroom became extremely hot at times. The property is also located at the top of a hill, so it’s worth keeping in mind if you don’t like steep walks, although the views and quieter setting were definitely a benefit.

Her kommer vi gerne igen.

Amazing buffet breakfast with a great selection of Sri Lankan food, fruit, pancakes, cereal, toast, eggs, juice and coffee is an extra charge. We got the balcony room which was 100% worth it with a beautiful view! Staff were so kind and helpful, surf boards were free to use, pool was refreshing and in the shade. We really loved how large and open our room was. Location is perfect, walk down the hill and the beach is right there! We 100% would recommend this hotel and will be back again when we return to Hiriketiya. Thank you so much to the beautiful staff, the manager - she is amazing! The breakfast staff, always smiling and helpful, Suresh - he is so so Kind and lovely. These people made our stay such a beautiful experience to remember. Also we stayed 7 nights here, loved it!

- Sehr gute Lage an der Hiriketiyabucht - schönes Hotel mit vielen schattigen Plätzen - der Pool liegt immer im schatten was für kleine Kinder super ist - das Personal ist freundlich - das Frühstück ist ein Buffet und sehr gut - alles ist fußläufig erreichbar - gegenüber ist ein Pizza Restaurant welches eine der besten Pizzen macht, die ich seit langem gegessen habe

Die Fenster im Bad und Wohnzimmer sind mit Holzpaneele ausgestattet, weshalb sie nicht verschlossen werden können. Wir hatten aber trotzdem kein Problem mit Insekten. Ich wollte es nur erwähnen. Das Bad ist etwas feucht. Daher ganz kleiner Abzug. Ich würde aber wieder hierbleiben, wenn ich noch mal in Hiri bin.

Die Lage ist super man erreicht beide Stände einfach zu Fuß.

Wir mussten das Zimmer wechseln, denn beim ersten war das ganze Bad voller Schimmel. Das zweite Zimmer war sehr komfortabel und daran gab es nichts auszusetzen. Das Personal hat uns auch sofort ein anderes Zimmer gegeben. Ich verstehe nur nicht, warum das erste Zimmer überhaupt angeboten wurde. In diesem Zustand würde das Zimmer niemand nehmen wollen.

Super hôtel, très propre, chambre spacieuse (deluxe familliale). Encore mieux que sur les photos. Super petit déjeuner varié qui change chaque jour. Personnal très sympa. Clairement l'un des meilleurs hôtels visité durant nos vacances au Sri Lanka.

Perfect location, few mins from beach, although it is up a steep hill if you have any mobility issues but it’s so easy to get a Tuktuk so this isn’t an issue. Lovely shaded pool if you wanted to get out of the sun. Breakfast was decent. Staff were so lovely, really enjoyed the welcome drink and they can organise transfers if you need picking up from previous hotel or taking somewhere on your onward journey. We had a crazy storm whilst we were there and the staff made sure to check in if everything was ok

The building is still under construction so this might change but there are gaps in the doors/windows so ants get in and it lets the heat in so it isn’t very energy efficient

Serene Villa is a small oasis of calm, just off the slighly busy street of Hiriketiya; the apartment room gazed out on a vista of jungle with monkeys happily scampering between palm trees. Breakfast was a wonderful mix of international and Sri Lankan cuisine and the staff were extremely helpful, throughout our stay. Having Yoga on site was also very convenient, at a decent price.

Overall it was great; just a small shame that speciality coffees (e.g. latte) and yoga were not included in the price. However that seems to be expected in Shri Lanka

There was a bit of noise from surrounding businesses at night but not much they can do about that. We couldn't leave the doors open because of the monkeys outside so screen doors would be great.

The people who work there are so nice and friendly ! I arrived early and I they worked to get it ready for me ahead of schedule ! Ishan the Transport Manager was so helpful when I needed a back up plan for my trip back to Colombo to catch my flight. Everyone here is so nice ! The apartment had its own little courtyard which was all really private . The apartment was so cool and an oasis to return to after being out in the heat of the day . The buffet was plentiful, tasty and varied. I loved the coffee too esp the Flat Whites - thank you ! Location wise I found it perfect for both beaches as it is positioned close to the top of the hill on the road between the 2 beaches . I also really enjoyed yoga classes held at Serene - the most amazing views too ! I would definitely recommend staying here and I would love to come back again

Lovely hotel in a great location (a 3 minute walk to the beach) with spacious rooms and sweet, friendly and attentive staff. They also provide yoga sessions!

There are men sitting around doing nothing all day on their phones and it is very uncomfortable The pool is tiny, about two people can stand in it and that’s it They charge 3k for laundry and don’t even iron or fold the clothes The electricity went out several times and once in the night and we couldn’t get to anyone for an hour until we finally found a number somewhere The single bed in family room is literally a sheet on a slab of concrete The bathroom was not very clean and the whole place floods when you shower, waterfall shower doesn’t work Not worth the price at all

Perfectly located up the hill from the main beach, we enjoy a relaxing 3 nights staying here. The design and vibe were excellent - our room had lots of space, was super comfortable and quiet. It felt like staying deep in the jungle but only a short walk from the main beach area of Hiri - which has lots of places to eat, drink and surf!

We liked everything about the property and location however breakfast was a little bit basic - though plenty to get you started for the day.

We stayed two nights at the serene. Great location short walk down the hill to the beach. Lots of options of cafes/restaurants in This area. We stayed on the top floor which gave us a beautiful view of hiriketiya beach. There was a lot Of steps to the top, however staff assisted with luggage which were very grateful for. Room was large, spacious and clean. Staff were very friendly and accomodating

Beautiful view from the balcony. Very good, local breakfast. Great location, 2 minutes from the main beach with great surfing.

The room was poorly maintained. Housekeeping didn't show up once, and we had to keep asking for it. The room wasn't clean enough upon check-in either. The toilet flush didn't work properly, and despite requests to have it fixed, it stayed that way throughout our stay, which was very uncomfortable. There was also a plant in the room that leaked water onto the floor and was infested with ants. The hotel promised surfboards, but they were a huge disappointment – poorly maintained, only hardtops, and missing leashes. We didn't use them, even though we wanted to. The overall place is okay, but the price and quality ratio is unfortunately disproportionate.

Loved the location, it was a short 2 min walk from the beach and restaurants though slightly out of the main strip so can escape the hustle and bustle.

The property was amazing. The hill from the beach was a bit of a killer, but we loved walking up it every day to get fitter!

Wir wollen auf jeden Fall wieder hierher zurückkommen. 🩷Swarna und ihr Team machen diese wunderschöne Unterkunft zu einem besonderen Ort! Die Zimmer sind sauber, geräumig, gepflegt und man findet alles was man braucht. Solls noch mehr sein einfach nachfragen die Crew kümmert sich um alle Anliegen. Ein Pluspunkt ist auch, dass das Hotel zwar top gelegen aber mega begrünt ist. Eine schattige Oase in der man der oft stechenden Hitze entgeht 😅Es gibt Surfbretter direkt in der Unterkunft und man erreicht die Strände in wenigen Gehminuten (2-5…). Wir haben uns einen Scooter ausgeborgt. Dieser war in wenigen Minuten vor der Tür und die Abwicklung war reibungslos, preiswert und unkompliziert. Das Frühstücksbuffet war unglaublich gut! Alles war frisch zubereitet und liebevoll hergerichtet ebenso variieren die sri-lankischen Gerichte täglich. Der Pool ist sauber und es gibt frische Handtücher und schattige liegen. Insgesamt sensationell. 🤩

Zentrale Lage zum Strand und dennoch ruhig gelegen. Schöne grüne Anlage, auf dem Balkon kommen auch gerne mal Affen zu Besuch. Ein nettes Team, kleines Frühstücksbuffet, was aber sehr lecker war und für jeden dennoch Auswahl bot. Die Yoga Fläche war auch toll, um den Tag ganz besonders zu starten.

Unser Zimmer war beim Check ok nicht ausreichend sauber, wurde dann aber umgehend nochmal vom Team gereinigt. Der Balkon konnte auf Grund der Affen nicht genutzt werden.

We loved our stay in Hiriketiya! The room was very beautiful, comfortable, and located perfectly in the center, just a short walk from the beautiful Hiriketiya Beach. Everything was clean and well maintained, making it a great place to relax. We completely fell in love with Hiriketiya during our stay here. Highly recommended for anyone visiting this amazing beach town!

The staff where more than helpful when my partner fell ill, giving us a ride to the pharmacy free of charge. The room was modern and very comfortable. Amazing wildlife could be observed the from grounds of the hotel. Perfect location!

Location was great slightly set back from the busyness of the beach whilst also being only a few mins walk! Lovely staff, great breakfast, great shaded pool. Room was really clean, well deocated - we had view of the jungle and could watch the monkeys from our balcony! Yoga class is up high and has panoramic tree top and beach views! Was under construction for more floors but this didn't at all impact the facilities or our stay!

The location was stunning - it’s up a hill 2-3 mins from the beach. We booked the top floor room - amazing views, peaceful, comfortable, clean,spacious. Be aware there’s several stairs up if you book this one, but it’s worth it. The staff were friendly, helpful & attentive, particularly helpful when we needed to secure alternative flights home, especially Swarma. We did some yoga sessions - lovely airy space, very calming. Breakfast was delicious. Cheeky monkeys through the window on the balcony!

Hotel staff were very welcoming, friendly and made us feel relaxed during our stay. Location was within walking distance of the main beach. Buffet breakfast was very good.

After long thinking I would say the acclimation needs hooks for hanging up towels/clothes, but that’s it.

The hotel is in a perfect location- 2-3 minute walk to the Hiriketiya beach and 10 mins to Dickwella beach. The hotel also have free surf boards you can use. The room was extremely spacious and incredibly clean with great air con and fans. The buffet breakfast was also tasty and the barista coffee is delicious. We also enjoyed the monkeys on our balcony in the morning - finding joy in investigating our swimwear hanging down! The staff were lovely and friendly too! Extremely good value for money! Would recommend!

Loved serene villa. We booked the top floor and it was certainly great value for money with the amazing view we got. Very short walk to hiriketiya beach and restaurants. Staff were friendly and helpful too. We had access to beach towels and surfboards which really helped us out.

Smještaj je bio čist i uredan. Vlasnica izuzetno draga kao i sve osoblje. Smještaj je samo 100 metara od plaže Hiriketiya. Tamo se nalazi i puno restorana, kafića i dučana. Vlasnica i osoblje su nas jako razveselili kada su pristali za nas pripremiti ribu koju smo upecali jutro prije. I ribu su pripremili izvrsno. Sve preporuke za ovaj smještaj bilo je baš lijepo odsjesti kod njih.

Les logements sont bien équipés, nous aurions aimez prolonger notre séjour mais l'hôtel était pleins. Le buffet déjeuner est correct. Et il y a de bons cours de yoga.

Best Location Hiriketiya

We stayed here for 1 nights in a apartment with 1 room. Everything was nice decorated and clean. The staff was really nice. For breakfast it was a small buffet with bread, fruits, juice that changed everyday, you for tea or coffee and you can order eggs (omlette, Fried or Scrabble) - to the beach it was just a small walk down the mountain.

Quite a beautiful place with comfortable rooms that falls under your budget. The villa has a homely atmosphere and is quite cool due to the trees surrounding it. The rooms are luxurious and quite spacious. The breakfast was mainly vegetarian and would have been happy to see some meat on the plate. The villa is just a small walk (50m) away from the beach. The surfboards are rented at a rate of 1000/- per hour and 3000/- for the whole day. Do not miss out on the surfing experience

Best place we stayed at while traveling in Sri Lanka. Quiet but only 5 mins away from the buzz of Hiriketiya. Beautiful, clean, great AC and shower area. Nice pool too!

A 10/10 location - about a minute walk downhill to Hiri beach which we loved, and well positioned between Hiri and Dickwella beaches and some fun restaurants and bars up on the hill /cliff between the two to visit, as well as a quick walk to all the restaurants in the main part of town too. Staff were attentive and when we had an issue with the air con in our room they promptly found a solution, moving us to a nearby villa for a night so we didn’t have an uncomfortable sleep, which was really appreciated. Also really enjoyed the rooftop yoga on site in the mornings!

The room was a little more basic than we expected in terms of furnishings, but functional and fine. The bathroom also was quite damp and open to the outside so had to keep the door shut at all times to not let mosquitoes in.

The room was smelling bad and it was very dirty. Due to the lack of light it felt like bunker rather than a room. During our stay room was never cleaned and towels were not changed.

Room (especially bathroom) was dirty; the bathroom is very badly designed so everything was wet every time we showered; there is nowhere to unpack clothes into or hanging space. Room smelt awful and generally uncared for. Breakfast was very poor. We were very disappointed - the hotel should do much better considering the cost and was overpriced compared with much nicer places we’ve stayed in Sri Lanka

Beautiful property surroundings with very helpful, warm staff. We had the top/penthouse room which had a gorgeous view of Hiri beach. Yoga available daily for an extra cost but 100% worth it! Short walk to both Dickwella beach and Hiri beach. Pool available at the property under the shady palm trees-useful if you need a break from the hot sun!

The bathroom could have been cleaner, e.g. the toilet flush was covered in finger prints which showed it hadn't been cleaned. Breakfast was below average and we had better in other properties. The barista coffee is available for an extra cost.
