La Playa Beach Club

the room was nice and clean. the toilet paper holder was broken but they fixed without us even asking. The food was great! Everyone was very nice and helpful! Loved the vibe and the music they played.

the beach chairs were not that great. they were bid cushions that never seemed to really dry. our first two days no one recognized us and kept asking us to pay or told us we couldn't use but then they know who we were and it was all good. i think they could reserve some for guests only or give the guests a dif't color towel. The music was a little too loud.

This place is an absolute gem. A small boutique (3 rooms only) hotel which is also a beach club. The food and cocktails are of a very high standard. Did not want to leave.

The prices are high but then you get what you pay for. Everything is high quality. The only bizarre thing was that they don't offer tea at breakfast - only coffee and juices.

Pour ce prix là, la prestation est loin d'être à la hauteur. Baie vitrée qui ne ferme pas totalement : très bruyant la nuit, bruit du personnel dès 6h du matin et musique forte au restaurant dès 8h même si aucun client. Pas de rideau, juste des voilage donc lumière de la terrasse toute la nuit et du soleil dès 5h. Piscine trouble. Ce n'est pas un hôtel mais un restaurant : aucune prestation, le personnel ne peut vous aider en rien.

Beautiful room with a gorgeous view over the bay. Delicious breakfast and the food and service at the restaurant was excellent. A great location, they gave us earplugs for the noise but we didn’t use them. Lots of kind and thoughtful touches.

A fabulous place to stay. Staff great, the hotel was beautiful and the food and drink superb. Located right on the beach with lovely sun beds. Wish I lived there!

Just be aware that there is noise - well managed in the hotel but surfing gets going early - sea full by 7am. Not a problem for us - in fact part of the charm.

Great rooms (only 3) with spectacular views. Busy during the day with busy vibe as people settle in for the day on the sun lounges. Staff fantastic and look after in-house guests giving priority on lounges. Food & cocktails were excellent. Was super happy with our stay!

Wonderful stay at La Playa in Hiriketiya. Staff are so attentive and dedicated to providing a wonderful experience for guests. Room is a quiet, cool escape from the bustle of the beach club. Food and drinks are absolutely delicious. We loved sitting at the upstairs bar overlooking the beach for lunch and evening drinks. We will be recommending to anyone looking to stay in the heart of Hiriketiya.

Service basically doesn’t exists: - you book yourself into a beach club and then they don’t have a reserved sunbed for you (we had to go somewhere else as all sunbeds were occupied on 1st day) - indeed don’t hav any hotel facilities: no reception, no storage room, you need to ask one of the waiters for any question - most unfriendly and unsupportive welcome of our 19 days itinerary - beach club is okay but very packed and limited views, the bay has 3-4 beach clubs to choose from Despite is really fantastic room I wouldn’t recommend to stay here. You have zero advantage of being an overnight guests. Next time I would stay in an accomodation with more service and friendliness and come here (or any other beach club) as a day guest

A beautiful small hotel with a stunning sea view. The room was spotlessly clean, the staff so lovely and the food was amazing. We woke up every morning to sit on our balcony watching the surfers start their day. Wd were very sad to leave.

Es war die ganze Nacht SEHR LAUT. Abends Live Konzerte in der Bar nebenan, Rave Party am Strand mit Techno Musik bis 2 Uhr morgens, dann Kämpfe zwischen Strassenhunden und ab 7 Uhr morgens wieder Musik. Ich habe 3 Nächte lang kaum geschlafen.

Everything about this hotel is amazing! The Location, the food, the staff (major shout out to the Bartender Ravi as well as the bar lead), the large rooms, the decor and the overall vibe... They have done a lovely job with every detail.

Tem enorme vantagem de se ficar hospedado no melhor beach club da praia de hiriketiya. Pequeno-almoço muito bom, exclusivo para os hóspedes. Staff muito prestável e atencioso. Quanto ao barulho, o restaurante fecha às 22h, portanto não foi um problema.

Quite possibly one of my favourite places I’ve ever stayed. The location is perfect right on Hiriketya beach, I could never get bored of the view from our room and will be dreaming of it for some time. The room was large and well designed and the bed was incredibly comfy - I slept so well my whole stay! The food was delicious, making ordering from the sun lounger far too tempting. Everything here is magical, I didn’t want my stay to end and hope I visit again. P.S. A previous review mentions sun loungers aren’t reserved for guests. This has changed and we had a lounger reserved each day for us!

The room would be better if there were darker curtains. It was very light early in the morning because of daylight. Other than that everything was perfect.

A lovely setting with excellently designed, clean, spacious rooms. The room sits behind a lovely small surfing beach and you have a nice private balcony to look out from. The staff are excellent and super attentive. They made us feel very welcome and made sure we had a good time. They even helped with our laundry.

One window didn't have curtains and the main window had a light curtain so light came through. Music downstairs started at 8am, recommend they push it to 10am as can hear noise in the room.

What an incredible stay! We absolutely loved our time at La Playa Beach club. The view from the balcony was beautiful. We relaxed on the balcony whenever we wanted privacy and spent hours just watching the surfers. The room itself was stunning and very spacious, had everything we needed. The breakfast was delicious and I liked how you could pick from the menu. The staff were very attentive and did everything they could to help. They even reserved the beds/area you wanted for the day before anyone else arrived. We enjoyed being so close to the beach and listening to the music over some drinks. The location was perfect - close to everything. Would defo recommend staying here and would love to return some day.

Amazing location and views from our room. The bed was really comfortable. Great breakfast and drinks. The staff were incredibly helpful and made sure we were all ok throughout our stay.

The bathroom was beautiful with 2 adjoining showers but unfortunately the drainage wasn’t working well and when both showers are going at the same time we found it flooded outside the shower. Also, the music starts quite early (about 8am) in the morning it would be great if it started a little later as it’s loud in the bedroom if you are still sleeping before 10.

Everything! Our room (3) was absolutely gorgeous. Only noice were the waves crashing. Who can complain about that! We spent 5 amazing nights listening to that! The staff are brilliant. So warm & welcoming. They looked after us so much that we never wanted to leave. Made sure we got a sunbed or table, usually reserving one without us even asking. Don’t get us started on the food! Try the breakfast burger, it’s to die for. Everything is so fresh & they put so much effort in to the quality of the food & presentation. The smoothie are great & the hummus are a must try. Stay you won’t regret it.

That we couldn’t stay forever!

We loved our stay here. The boys were all super friendly. They were extremely attentive and could not do enough for you without being overbearing. A special thanks to Nimesh and Lakshan, for recommendations and the great service at breakfast. The room, views, food, coffee and cocktails were all outstanding. We were here for two nights and so didn’t explore much but were given great recommendations for surfing lessons (which we also had great fun experiencing) and places nearby to visit if we wanted.

There are only 3 rooms on top of the beach club (which was smaller than expected). The seats at the beach can be used by the guest but unfortunately you need to book it in advance, which does not give you flexibility. There is no reception and you have to wait until the staff from the restaurant attends you. Too expensive for such service

Light curtains

La Playa is stylish with a great vibe, situated directly on the beach (couldn’t get any closer if you tried!) with lovely hospitable staff. The food was wonderful, we really enjoyed the al a carte breakfast offering and the great quality coffee each morning before relaxing on the day beds that the staff kindly reserved for us. The Pina Colada here might be one of the best we’ve ever had (highly recommend!) the rooms are beautiful and have a lovely view to wake up to.

Some feedback would be to perhaps place an anti slip mat under the straw rug in the room as it’s quite slippery against the polished concrete floor, the sheer curtains are beautiful but perhaps a blockout curtain could also be added to give guests the choice to have a sleep in if they wish, the sun rose around 6am for us during our stay and shone through. There were some musty smells in the bathroom (which comes with visiting a humid destination) perhaps a diffuser could be placed in there to help with the smell as the windows didn’t seem possible to open to allow for airflow.

El sitio tiene un encanto sin igual. Perfectamente ubicado en el pleno centro de la playa de Hiriketiya, con ambiente surfero inmejorable. La piscina y la comida, deliciosa. Las vistas desde la cama, simplemente, espectaculares. Está todo decorado con mucho gusto. Y dormir con el mar de fondo es toda una experiencia. Muy recomendable.

We had the most memorable 3-night stay at La Playa - a place that felt like we were in actual heaven every single day. La Playa is truly the all-round winner of hotels and beach clubs in Hiriketiya and I was very very happy we chose this for our stay. The rooms were incredible and oversaw the most idyllic beach, with crashing waves putting you to sleep every night. The whole place is designed to aesthetic perfection. Coffee is very important to me and the iced lattes as well as the in-room coffee was simply perfect. Their fresh juices tasted like sunshine and they also offered fresh king coconut for $1! We also enjoyed their wine list which featured some great wines from Australia and Europe. The service was 5* - laid back environment but quick and helpful. The staff was all great but big big thank you to Laksha who made our stay so special and took such great care of us during our stay. 🌊🫶🏻🐚🧉

You can’t really sleep in because of the beach club music, and not all windows are blocked so you have intense sunlight coming in the mornings, but it wasn’t a big issue for us 😊

Everything was amazing here - beautiful view of the beach from the room, delicious drinks and food, clean room, and one of the guys named “Nimesh” was so friendly and provided fantastic service during our stay at the beach club. I learnt how to surf at Hiriketiya beach for the first time and was sooooo nervous. Nimesh was so kind, provided me reassurance and encouragement to just go ahead and do it! Wish I stayed here longer.

Fantastic location right in the beach!

Music from one of the other hotels went on all night. Not this hotels fault but being in the beach does come at a cost.

Just the most perfect place to stay. Beautiful views of the bay from the room and then you’re in the must-visit place. Food and drinks were genuinely exceptional at both restaurants, service was excellent it’s just incredible.

It is a little pricey for Sri Lanka but it does deliver an exceptional standard. Only shame is they don’t reserve a few beds for hotel guests all day

We loved the size of the room, proximity to Hiri and the staff.

There wasn’t any curtains or blinds, and the doors to the sea weren’t sealed so it was very loud.

It was such a beautiful room, so much space and the most gorgeous views. I loved that there were only 3 rooms so it didn’t feel super busy upstairs. The beach club is gorgeous, the staff are amazing and all the food and drinks were delicious and amazing value for money.

We had an amazing stay at La playa. Great location right on the beach. Staff were all so lovely and friendly. Delicious breakfast included daily. Room was great, bed was super comfy! We will definitely be back!

Nothing to be honest! Everything was great!

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Definitely one of the best we had in Sri Lanka. The location is unbeatable as the hotel is located at the waterfront of Sri Lanka's most hype and beautiful bay Hiriketiya. Rooms were huge and very nicely decorated. Food was amazing and music wasn't running too high and late as some critics here might have suggested. Finding free sunbeds might be a problem for some of the guests, but as we wake up early, we were always able to find free spots. Also, the Staff offered to reserve a sunbed for us, if needed.

There was a sewage smell in the bathroom. I hope the hotel can fix it because it's the only thing we didn't like in La Playa Beach Club.
