Paradise Forest Garden

Nice stay with a beautiful view from the room, overlooking the swimming pool and surrounded by nature. Good breakfast and a very nice, welcoming host. A nice bonus was having a shower wall in the bathroom, which is not very common in Sri Lanka.

Keep in mind that it’s about a 10-minute walk from the main street, along a jungle road with an uneven surface, and it’s completely dark at night. We didn’t mind because we had a scooter, but it’s something to consider if you’re walking.

De ligging is super mooi, de rust en het zwembad wat uitkijkt op de bergen. Het eten is heerlijk en de kamers zijn netjes en ruim.

De stoelen, je kan niet even relax zitten en zonnebedjes bij het zwembad zou een aanvulling zijn.

Le meilleur hôtel de notre sejour. Tout est parfait. Les gens sont les plus bienveillants, doux, que nous ayons fréquenté ici. L'hôtel en lui même est super joli tant de l'extérieur que de l'intérieur. ( mention spéciale à la douche chaude qu'il n'y a pas partout). La vue à la fois sur la piscine et les montagnes , à la fois sur la foret nous permet une immersion des plus bucolique et apaisante. Le balcon quant à lui permet une observation des nombreux animaux dont un grand nombre d'espèce d'oiseau, il n est paq rare de bpir un léphant, macaques , ecureuils et écureuils géant. ( que je n'aurais dailleurs jamais pu voir si le personnel de l'hôtel ne m'avait pas indiqué où ils se trouvaient habituellement). Cerise sur le gâteau : les repas sont tres tres bon, généreux, prépares avec soin et de l'eau filtrée est servie avec. " Paradise forest Garden " n'aurait pu s'appeller autrement.C est un petit havre de paix. Encore merci 🤗

Everything. From the moment we entered that magical place we felt like we are in top of the world with all those beautiful scenery around us. Facing the mountain range of Riverston this magical place is a must visit in Matale. Staff was friendly and welcoming and attentive. They met all our needs and really took care of us. Food is so tasty and the chef make sure to change to different menus every single meal. Thank you so much for going the extra mile to make our stay extra special with your kind services.

I loved my stay here! The view of the mountains from the infinity pool is incredible, as is watching monkeys from your balcony, but it’s so much more than that. The people who work here are truly kind and wonderful in a way that I’ll remember for a long time. After only 2 days with Cristo and Ashok, it felt like they were looking after me like they would their own family. Cristo even took me sightseeing around town to the temples and a batik shop. Additionally, my room was spacious and clean, the AC cold, the bed comfortable, and the shower hot. Breakfast was delicious, with sausages made on the property, and I opted to have dinner there both nights, which was a treat. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

If other guests are loud, it may impact your stay. I did not experience any issues with this personally. Also, as others have noted, the road to the hotel is a bumpy dirt road. Just take a tuktuk!

We (three adults) stayed here for a single night on our way west from Trinco. The rooms had air con and a fan and were very clean. The hotel is perched at the end of a gravel road which does need some care but trust me, the view is worth it (our van, although slowly, managed fine). Sitting in a cane chair, with this serene view with your own thoughts, I lost a good hour. The staff were awesome and very attentive. The Chef's meals were the best I'd had (especially the black chicken curry) to date. We asked for a very simple local breakfast and Chef did not disappoint! The history of the bunglow (which I was not aware of when booking) was quite interesting - a colonial/Scottish history. The breakfast was nothing wow but enjoyed. Initially we were told it'll be a Sri Lankan cuisine but an English menu was served. The atmosphere is very peaceful. Excellent for relaxing. The staff is very attentive.

The roadway to the hotel is very bad. Unless you have an SUV or high elevated vehicle it's not possible to approach the site specially on a rainy day.

We enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere. The view from the pool was really beautiful and from there we could spot some monkeys, birds and little animals. The staff is super kind. The breakfast was really good.

It was a bit difficult with pick me to get here. Pickup location. But that was about it.

Staff was just so welcoming, such good people. Provided us with late dinner, tea, conversation. Location is up on the steep hill, so be mindful if you travel with your own vehicle. Got some welcome drink - juice.

As we came in the evening it was peaceful and quite, as we were only guests. Later around 10pm new guests arrived. They drank all night and was noisy. Worst experience in Sri Lanka. Asking to be more quiet did not help. Manager did not help. Disappointing. Other from that it is heaven of peace.

Schöne Unterkunft in traumhafter Lage! Es ist einfach nur wunderschön hier. Alles sehr gepflegt, saubere Zimmer, tolles Bad, leckeres Essen und sehr nette Gastgeber. Absolute Empfehlung!

Erg vriendelijke mensen, prachtig uitzicht en heerlijk eten. Het ligt wat afgelegen maar ze maken in de avond heerlijke curry. Mooi zwembad en prima kamers. In de ochtend hebben we een wandeling gemaakt met een van de medewerkers die ons uitleg gaf over alles wat er groeit en geteeld wordt. Behulpzame, lieve mensen. Echt een aanrader

A bit off the road, but absolutely worth it. It is a small hotel nestled within a huge piece of forest and farm. Quiet nights, lots of beautiful vegetation to check out, as well as animals! The rooms and the pools is clean, the view is spectacular. All the staff is great and the food was delicious. Christopher, the manager, was very supportive and helpful in proposing and arranging for intereresting itineraries. In the Matale area there is plenty of things to see and also to enjoy outdoors! I couldn’t have picked a better place to start of my Sri Lanka adventure.

Everything perfect

It turned out that we were the only guests, and we felt like really special ones. We were welcomed with fresh juice and a nice conversation by two lovely waiters/kitchen chefs. The view is amazing—better than in the photos. Breakfast was delicious. Our room had a cute balcony on the back side, and it was super quiet. The room was clean, and the staff were really attentive. They helped us organize a tuk-tuk to the city and arranged a car to take us on a full-day trip with a few stops along the way.

Amazing location in the middle of nature and free animals. The view is breath-taking, the pool looks awesome and the staff really takes good care of you. Having reserved last minute they even made dinner just for me. Thank you so much, this has been an unforgettable experience.

Being in the middle of the forest means you have to be careful with what you have - a food crumble will immediately attract insects.

Perched high in the hills with a fantastic view of the surrounding jungle. Very quiet except for bird song. In and out of the clouds and warm rain making it atmospheric. It's cooler up here which is welcome. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable. Being double aspect made it feel light and airy. For the first time we did not need to use the A/C. Dinner and breakfast were served in the ‘old hospital ward’ which had attractive open arches overlooking the garden, pool and the incredible views. It was lovely sitting here especially in the rain. The food was good and we felt welcome. This place is wonderful for getting away from the craziness of the towns. Unfortunately we didn’t get to swim but the pool did look lovely and clean. We went for a walk and spotted many different tree types including rubber, coffee and cashew nut.

The place was amazing if you are looking for a quiet out of the way place. The pool overlooked the view of the forest and the room was perfect. Bright, clean and comfortable

This beautiful property in Matale was the perfect little slice of heaven. It is well out of the way of everything so expect peace and quiet, which is exactly what we wanted. Christo & his team could not do enough to make the stay with them very enjoyable. The breakfast was amazing and the dinner they made for us was without a doubt one of the best we had in our time in Sri Lanka. I would highly recommend staying here as it gives you the opportunity to fully relax and enjoy the gorgeous Mountain View’s with an infinity pool. The bedroom was comfortable and just what we needed for our night spent here.

Der Ausblick beim Pool und der Besitzer war sehr hilfsbereit. Wir hatten nach Bier gefragt und er hat extra noch jemanden geschickt, um dies zu besorgen.

Dass es kein Bier gab, sowas würden wir erwarten in einem Hotel. Unsere Dusche hat sehr unangenehm gerochen und der Weg zum Hotel ist so steil, dass man ihn mim Tuktuk nur als erfahrener Fahrer hoch kommt. Der Kellner war auch etwas zu bemüht, wir hätten uns mehr Abstand bzw. Ruhe gewünscht.

Velmi ochotný personál a výborné jídlo. Měli jsme tradiční místní snídani a naprosto výborné večeře, jednou srílanskou s několika typy jídel a podruhé indickou. Bazén byl čistý a výhled jedinečný. Chtěli bychom se sem někdy vrátit.

Cesta na ubytování je trochu horší, ale zvládl to s námi vyjet i tuktuk, takže ok.

Un coin de paradis entre Kandy et Dambulla. La chambre était parfaite, la vue sublime et le calme apprécié. Christopher et son équipe prendront soin de vous durant votre séjour. Les repas (petits-déjeuners et dîners) servis face à la vue étaient typiques et délicieux.

The staff were amazing, they couldn’t do more for us if we asked. We had come from a few busy days and my partner wasn’t feeling well, they really took care of us and also let us relax, along side this we had some amazing Sri Lankan food!

We only had one night here. Beautiful location. dinner was a delicious classic Sri Lankan meal and breakfast was a great omelette cooked up by the wonderful Ashoka. The views are spectacular from the top of the hill. Also great view from the pool. Christo was also very welcoming and made our stay as comfortable as possible. He also took us on a bush walk around the property showing us all the different plants, herbs and fruits. If you’re lucky like we were you may spot a few wild elephants as well as the roam the hills around the property.

The location has a history, and the property was only modified as a guest house while keeping the old design. It is unique because of that. The area around the property is very quiet and very green, with many different types of trees/spices. The staff was very friendly, especially the manager (Christo). He contacted us before we arrived to make sure everything was arranged. The food was delicious, and the price was reasonable.

The last few hundred meters to the location was troublesome. Because of the road condition. Still, I don't think it is their issue. Unfortunately, our car struggled.

Great stay! The place is 10min off the main road which makes it accessible while you have the feeling of being lost in nature. I am a solo traveler traveling with public transport. The bus dropped me on the main road and I walked up to the hotel (but you can also get a tuk-tuk of course). The room was good. The view with the swimming pool is amazing. Cristo, the manager of the hotel, took me for a walk in the forest around the hotel. We also visited the farm that belong to the owner of the hotel. Don't hesitate to ask Cristo for a walk. The staff was nice. The chef made us rice and curry in the evening.

This is a very quiet location, surrounded by jungle. The evening meal and breakfast were both very filling. The host was very friendly.

They added 10 % service charge to the total bill. It is standard to pay a service charge on service but this was the first time we were asked to pay the charge on the room rate and the added taxes. This made it quite pricey overall. There was an ant infestation in the shower. The pool is looking grubby. No seperate towels provided for pool. No signal for the TV.

Es ist eine richtig tolle Anlage mit großem Swimmingpool. Das Zimmer ist geräumig und modern eingerichtet. Die Aussicht ist grandios. Am Besten ist aber der Service und das Essen. Zum Abendbrot gab es eine große Auswahl an Sri Lanka Gerichten. Das Frühstück war auch sehr vielfältig und sehr lecker. Der Manager und der Koch sind sehr herzliche Menschen, haben uns jeden Wunsch erfüllt. Unser Tuktuk nach Matale hat nur 1000 Rupien gekostet. Absolute Empfehlung! Eine unserer besten Unterkünfte auf Sri Lanka.

We loved our stay at Paradise Forest Garden! It’s a little off the beaten track, but well worth it for the cosy, boutique-style atmosphere that feels more like a homestay. The staff were incredibly attentive, making our experience even more special. The pool overlooks the mountains, creating one of the most breathtaking backdrops I’ve seen. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with a lovely hot shower and great water pressure. The real highlight was the staff—so friendly, attentive, and genuinely interested in making our stay perfect. We enjoyed the delicious breakfasts and the amazing, varied dinners prepared by a talented in-house chef. Nothing was too much trouble! A few sun loungers by the pool would have been nice (as there are only chairs or grass), but otherwise, it was perfect! This isn’t ideal for those just passing through or using their room as a base, as dinner each evening seems to be expected. It was perfect for us, but if you plan to be out all day or prefer to eat elsewhere, this may not be the best fit. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

An sich gab es nichts auszusetzen, alle waren sehr nett. Be der Abreise wurde jedoch ein Tuktuk zum Bahnhof organisiert und der Preis mehr als 3x so hoch als die Norm (3500 rupien anstatt um die 800) bei dem wir dann mit dem Fahrer noch handeln mussten.
