Reviewed Mar 9, 2026A wonderful stay with exceptional hosts of Jane and Grant. They were so friendly and very helpful. Location of the property just a block from the beach front and excellent close by shops for groceries, liquor and cafes. It was very clean and had everything needed for a stay. Breakfast provisions were outstanding, plentiful and varied. It was very comfortable. Lovely bed and Manchester, comfy lounge, had everything you’d need. Can’t rate it high enough.
Nothing really. (We had a noisy cicada which shrieked but we lured it out so fly spray might have been helpful. It truly is a minor issue.)

Kitchen was very small, and no hob. But expect this is due to council constraints, and the room was as advertised, so no issue at all. What a great excuse to eat out!

A close walk to an amazing beach. And super close to restaurants and markets. We loved this apartment. It is one of the nicest places we stayed during our 3+ week in New Zealand.

The hosts provided breakfast food with multiple options, along with tea/coffee/milk. The location is great, just a short walk to the beach and nearby restaurants. I would happily stay here again!

Reviewed Feb 27, 2025Breakfast was an added bonus. We enjoyed the fruit on arrival, had a good hearty breakfast which lasted us well on our travels that day so we didn’t have to stop for morning tea. Jane was a lovely host, checking in with us to see all was ok, made sure we knew where the best restaurants were for dinner. Didn’t really know what to expect when booking and found Bar Harbor to be a little hidden treasure. Much nicer than staying in a motel. Also enjoyed a drink in the rustic little private courtyard on arrival.

The location turned out to be really good (not knowing the area) as it was very handy to a cafe, a grocery store and several restaurants, as wll as being just a block from the beach.

Welcoming to walk into, and the breakfast was a bonus (Bread, cereal, fresh fruit, butter, spreads, milk, tea, coffee, and chocolate biscuits). They even let us park our large American car in their carport. So thoughtful. Thanks for a wonderful stay. Highly recommend.

I did not know that it was an option for the food to be delivered to your apartment which is a good option by the way! Instead, we decided to eat in at the beer gardens as the atmosphere and ambiance was great. Furthermore, it was a hot day and good thing our room has an air-con which made our stay a bit more comfier.

The overhead noise both nights ... 2nd night, it woke us, which was not ideal.... hosts need to remember that they have guests in the unit, as this put a huge damper on our stay.
