No soap or shampoo in the bathroom, though towels were available and the bathroom size was more than adequate. Lukewarm water readily available in the shower.

Das gesamte Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Der Besitzer ein sehr spannender, kommunikativer und symphatischer Mensch. Die Anlage ist sehr schön, lädt zum Verweilen ein. Wir haben ein schönes Zimmer mit Blick auf die Berge gehabt, haben die Gemeinschaftsküche genutzt und auch den supernetten, bequemen Wäscheservice. Nach 4 Wochen Reisen toll, alles wirder frisch zu haben. Das Frühstück wird sehr liebevoll und nett vorbereitet mit selbstgemachtem Brot, Marmelade und leckerem Ziegenkäse und Oliven. Die Lage des Hostels ist perfekt, direkt neben dem Museo Gabriela Mistral, das wir vor unserer Abfahrt auch noch besucht haben. Für ein Hostel höchste Punktzahl! Hier lebt man Pura Vida! ...und die Feigen, die wir einfach frisch vom Baum pflücken durften, werden in sehr guter Erinnerung bleiben.

L'emplacement à proximité du musée Mistral, la décoration et le jardin avec accès aux figues, la vente de produits locaux, l'accueil.

El lugar está muy cerca de plaza de vicuña, tiene fácil acceso a la carretera que une los distintos pueblos... El staff es bastante preocupado del servicio y la estadía en la ciudad, además tuvimos la oportunidad de conocer al dueño del hostal quien nos preparó algunas comidas típicas de su país de orígen.... Totalmente recomendable

La locación tranquila, cerca del centro, pero suficientemente alejado de él para sentir la tranquilidad el sector y disfrutar de ella; el entorno con árboles frutales y variedad de plantas, y el rico y contundente desayuno servido. Jordan, quien nos recibió, nos brindó inflrmación y sugerencias sobre cómo disfrutar del valle.

Costaba un poco regular la temperatura del agua en la ducha; pero fuera de eso, un grato lugar en donde volvería a quedarme.

Nos encantó la ubicación, por las tardes es silencioso y de noche mucha tranquilidad. Desde el patio puedes ver el cielo estrellado. El desayuno impecable, muy representativo de la zona; pan artesanal, mermeladas de papaya e higo, queso de cabra. Todo delicioso y contundente. El personal muy gentil y hospitalario.

La ropa de cama estaba limpia, pero algunas fundas manchadas por el uso. El papel higiénico de los baños debería ser más delicado, más blando.

Didn’t actually stay in the Colibri (hummingbird) Hostal; opened at 9am and young guy handed me the phone to talk to Richard (the owner) who said we were actually staying in the Bayti 100m down the road. Bayti was lovely with an internal courtyard and Richard was good company and very helpful. Good breakfast (from 9am - Vicuña doesn’t start early!). Good location a few mins walk into centre. Vicuña is a nice small town with lots of bars/restaurants and a nice feel. Richard pointed us to Elki Magic, a small company who runs car, bicycle and other tours in the Elqui valley.

Our room was duplex with the bedroom on the top floor which got very warm during the day (fan was provided but little ventilation); ok at night.

A beautiful hostel in a quiet part of the town. The facilities including the breakfast were really impressive. The garden was a lovely place in which to unwind.

We spent 5 nights in this lovely place. The staff were very helpful with everything, they gave us lots of information about all the things you could do during your stay. The garden is very beautiful with all the flowers, trees and hummingbirds. The location is perfect, just a short walk from the center but still quiet and peaceful. The shared kitchen is equipped with everything you could need to prepare meals during your stay. The "basic" breakfast was very filling with lots of options ( bread, jams, coffee, different cheeses, juice, fruit, olives...) Thank you! :)

Only the shower lacked some pressure, but it's not that bad.

I would absolutely stay here again. We were welcomed warmly, shown around the place, they were flexible with leaving our stuff on check-out and it's a short walk from the town centre. They also have dedicated parking and gave us a a set of keys to the garage gate which meant that we could come and go as we pleased. We loved our stay and wished we'd had the time to book some extra nights.

My only improvement would be for the shower- the shower head sprayed water over my head instead of pointing down.

Localização privilegiada.. Excelente atendimento da recepção, destaque para Jormar. Café da manhã com pão caseiro, geleia caseira, suco com fruta da época. Possui cozinha compartilhada.

Communication with the owner before and during my stay. I had an upgrade of my stay in another hostel. Owner speaks perfect english. They have delicious homemade yoghurt and jam, good bread and goatcheese for breakfast. Also good tips for tours in Valle de Elqui.

La ubicación es muy buena, muy próxima al centro pero algo fuera del centro. Además, al lado está el Museo Gabriela Mistral, que es una de las principales datracciones de Vicuña.

La entrada de vehículos es estrecha, si alguien va en una SUV grande podría tener problemas para ingresar al estacionamiento.

Everything about this place was fantastic. The staff, Richard, the location, the breakfasts, the parking, the peaceful quiet atmosphere. Great Wi-fi too.

En si todo me gustó, solo que no me dijeron que podía pedir un desayuno mejorado (obviamente con costo extra) al que incluía el hospedaje y lo descubrí hasta que hice check out jaja pero bueno, les dejo el tip que ofrezcan eso cuando se hace check in.

Nuestra experiencia fue extraordinaria! La cabaña estaba impecable, cómoda, acogedora, cada espacio estaba pensado para que nos sintieramos cómodos, incluido el calientacamas que fue un excelente detalle. El anfitrion preocupado, respetuoso, nos dieron tips de lugares donde comer y visitar, lo que nos ayudó a gestionar mejor nuestro tiempo. También destacar el desayuno, todo casero, fresco, abundante, exquisito para comenzar bien el día. La ubicación es cercana al centro, lo que permite llegar caminando a la plaza. Es un barrio tranquilo y silencioso, lo que favorece el descanso. En conclusión: Recomendado 100%.

Nous avons été logés dans une petite cabaña très mignonne alors que nous avions réservé une chambre quadruple pour 3 . Le personnel est chaleureux et au petits soins. Très bons conseils de visites. L’hôte parle francais couramment. Le petit-dejeuner est incroyable avec un menu variable chaque jour et des produits excellents : confitures maison, fromage de chèvre et même du boursin maison que nous recommandons. L’hostal est très bien situé, très proche du centre à pied et dispose d’un parking privé. Nous recommandons !

Nous sommes tombés sur une semaine de mauvais temps avec du froid et de la pluie ce qui est extrêmement rare. Sans chauffage, nous avons eu froid dans la pièce principale. Heureusement, il y a des couvertures chauffantes dans les lits.

Richard offers a warm welcome as you as soon as you enter and offers advice about the local tours. Our room was ready early which was a bonus and the breakfast with homemade items was the best and most filling we have had in our travels around south america. The location was great and the hostel felt quiet and secure. We really enjoyed our stay!

The words in this review will never do justice to our incredible stay at Hostal El Colibri, or do justice to the hospitality of Richard and his excellent staff. Richard is not only the best hostel owner we have come across during our travels in South America, but he is one of the most special people I have ever met in my entire life. The Elqui valley and Vicuña is a beautiful place with a unique energy - and Richard makes you feel this from the moment you are introduced. If I could give his hostel 100 stars I would - oh, and seeing the stars in the Elqui valley is a MUST. Likewise, the Lebanese eggs at breakfast are a MUST. Thank you Richard for a stay I will never forget.

Secure walled compound was peaceful and attractive, with pretty landscaping. The host was gracious and fascinating to talk to, with an amazing, unexpected life history. He helped us line up an astronomical tour nearby for that evening, as one we hoped to take had been cancelled. Night staff received our delayed luggage for us while we were star-gazing, returning late. Owner preserves his own fruit and olives, makes preserves, etc. and sells them - a real foodie.

Our room was very small and spartan. Bathroom had no soap. Breakfast was tasty but small. Had trouble tracking down staff to retrieve bags but eventually did find person who wasn't too cheerful at the disturbance. Owner chain-smoked throughout our lengthy, far ranging conversation.

Very friendly and personal approach upon arrival. Welcome with coffee! We did stay here already in the past, so we knew the hotel is really good

They have chickens and a cockerel so be prepared to be awake from daybreak!

Could not get the sink to run hot water. Needed to shave using cold water. The shower finally ran with hot water, so perhaps the system needed to run the hot water in the sink for a longer while to prime that circuit?

Lovely hotel in a great central location with walking distance to the center of town. Decent sized room, good breakfast with quality local ingredients. Friendly and helpful staff. Secure parking.

Not sure why I had to pay upfront a week before, but not a massive issue.

It feels like coming home. Richard and Mary could not be more welcoming or kind. The breakfasts are all extremely good but I would recommend that you try the Lebanese breakfast, a complete meal in itself...we didn't need lunch or dinner afterwards! The cabin we had was very clean, comfortable and spacious. A bonus is that there is a laundry service available at a very reasonable price. The restaurants that Richard recommended were all excellent, but by a whisker the Italian was the best.

There was nothing to dislike at all

Fantastic space, peaceful, local, relaxing atmosphere. Can make your own coffee, dogs and cats around, really good shower. Close to distillery and viewpoint, still close to town. Really helpful and friendly but left to enjoy amazing breakfast and lovely grounds.

Very welcoming staff/host and grounds are very relaxing and comfortable. Short walk to the center of town. They gave some excellent recommendations on what to see and do locally. Would stay again if I return to Vicuña.

Loved everything about it! From the grounds, to the staff, to the cute dogs. Very clean. Staff knowledgeable about the area and were able to give me good recommendations about what to see and do. Located in a quiet part of vicuna, only 10 minute walk from the bus terminal and the centre of town.
