Reviewed Jun 21, 2026La cuisine est grande et bien équipée. Edgardo nous a accueilli avec gentillesse et donné toutes les informations nécessaires. La chambre était propre et disposait d'un petit chauffage d'appoint.
La chambre réservée était de 20m2, mais nous avons été placé dans une chambre d'environ 10m2. Le gérant de l'établissement n'a pas voulu nous facturer notre séjour sans la TVA alors que nous étions étrangers et éligible à l'exemption de la TVA, en paiement par carte bancaire en dollar. Ce qui fait que le logement était cher pour ce que c'était (petit déjeuner non inclus, douches dans un batîment extérieur, froid en cette saison)

Reviewed Jun 18, 2026Es un alojamiento increible al que volveria todas las veces que pudiera, desde el minuto uno preocupados de que estuviera bien, llegue relativamente tarde, se preocuparon que pudiera instalarme antes de cualquier cosa, Richard y Sandra un 7, atentos de todo y de que todos nos sintieramos bienvenidos, las habitaciones muy confortables, preocupados de que no pasara frio, los baños son compartidos, pero suficientes y en perfectas condiciones, muy practicas las duchas con espacio individual para cambiarte. lo recomiendo vayan solos o acompañados

Reviewed May 27, 2026Mi pasar por el hostal Scorpius fue lo máximo! Es un lugar agradable, muy bello, con una cocina super amplia, las piezas también muy amplias y bellas, muy ordenadas e incluso con calefacción para estos días de otoño, los baños siempre limpios y con todo, además de separar las duchas que se agredece bastante, agua calentita, el patio es divino para observar los cielos, todo 10/10! Compartir con Sandra y Richard fue muy enriquecedor; obviamente tambien Edgardo fue sumamente amable y me oriento para ir a cumplir mi sueño de ver ballenas en Chañaral de Aceituno. Volvería a ir una y mil veces más, me encantó Vicuña y estar en el hostel hizo que mis días fueran mas divertidos y amenos, además de conocer mas sobre la historia de los pueblos originarios y sobre la gran Gabriela Mistral.

Reviewed May 17, 2026The garden with its hammocks in between trees, wine and green parrots and a really friendly enormous orange cat is the best. A wonderful place to relax. The other aspect I really liked about the hostel were the people that work there. Eduardo, Richard and Sandra make this place special. I’ve never before stayed in a hostel where someone invited you to a dinner or gave you a lift to the bus stop for free because he decided your bag is too heavy. Sandra is offering tours. She is new in the business but seems to already know everyone around Vicuña. What’s special about her tours is that she looks for places where tourists can get to know local shops and businesses and get in touch with the locals who explain about their work (e.g. a ceramic place or a special restaurant that we visited). I stayed for 4 nights and if I had had the time I would have stayed for longer (in the hammock). What I also liked was that it was a quiet place and that there were not a lot of people staying there. We were 3 girls in a six bed dormitory. The luxury of travelling in low season and because they use all of their dormitories even if there are only six people staying at the same time instead of stuffing everyone in the same dorm until it’s full.
The beds/mattresses are really comfortable but even 4 layers of blankets were cold for me as they never stay in place. What would I give for a real duvet with a duvet cover (that’s sth you hardly find at any place in Chile). I didn’t like the smell of the washing powder or perfume they use on the bedsheets but that’s something really personal.

Reviewed May 15, 2026The people here really make this place special from the moment you arrive. You will have help with everything you need and the best local recommendations for things to do. Sandra offers local tours and she is very knowledgeable about the history of the region and knows some hidden gems to make for an awesome day around Vicuña. I highly recommend taking a day for her tour. If you are lucky then you might get to try some of Richard’s cooking in the evening. The property is super spacious and nice. Lots of room in the dorms and the lockers are big. Nice big kitchen where you can cook and the bathroom and shower facilities are clean and very good. Once you get here, you will probably extend your stay. This place is awesome. Thank you for everything.

L'hostel est dans une belle maison super propre et confortable le jardin est magnifique et spacieux. L'équipe fait tout pour qu'on se sente bien et que l'on profite de la vallée. Une de mes meilleures expériences en hostel.

Todos muy agradables, el alojamiento en general inspiraba una linda convivencia. Los baños muy limpios, con separación la ducha para dejar las cosas. Había té y café a libre disposición, las camas cómodas y hamacas para ver el cielo y disfrutar del viento en la tarde. Volvería sin dudas.

Sehr schöner Innenhof und Garten, Möglichkeit Wäsche zu waschen, Gemeinschaftsküche…Für uns das beste Hostel in dem wir bisher auf unserer Motorrad Reise waren. Die Dusche sind ein echter Traum: richtige Türen (nicht nur Vorhänge), geräumig, Ablagen, Haken, viel Wasser, super einstellbar. (Im übrigen auch das erst barrierefreie Hostel das wir bisher gesehen haben). Man hat sich hier wirklich viel Gedanken und Mühe gegeben und alles ist sehr durchdacht. Hier kommt man zur Ruhe, hat eine zentrale Lage im Ort.. auch die anderen Gäste waren angenehm. Alles war sehr sauber und hochwertig gemacht. Und das Bett (wie hatten ein Doppelzimmer für uns) war soooo bequem, wir haben so gut geschlafen wie noch die in einem Hostel. Ein wirklich tolles, rund um perfektes Hostel. Wir kommen gerne wieder! (Ich hatte zuvor die ganzen guten Bewertungen gelesen und dachte „ach, das kann doch garnicht soooo gut sein“, aber war es dann tatsächlich!)

Reviewed Apr 6, 2026Los baños estaban muy limpios y las duchas contaban con un espacio para poder cambiarme y secarme dentro del mismo cubículo. Maravillosas instalaciones en general. Lo último pero no menos importante, el dueño del hostal nos ayudó con todo. Estuvimos dos días para poder explorar un poco pero ya sabemos que volveremos acá.
Nada malo con este hostal.

Lit confortable J’ai pu vraiment me reposer, tout en passant un très bon moment avec les autres voyageurs. Richard met tout en œuvre pour qu’on se sente « comme à la maison » et ça fonctionne ! Également de bon conseils pour visiter la région.

Reviewed Mar 3, 2026The place is very peaceful. The bed was comfortable. The showers had plenty of hot water. The outdoor garden area was very nice for lounging around. When there isn't a full moon you can lay out in the hammocks and look at the stars at night. The location was within easy access of public transportation and trails for hiking around the area. Richard and Ricardo were very nice and always willing to provide helpful information. They went out of their way to make it a comfortable visit. I definitely plan to come back.
There was nothing to dislike.

La propreté était impeccable, l'organisation plus que fonctionnelle, et l'auberge est très agréable (hamac, cuisine équipée, chambre à effectifs réduits...). Dès notre arrivée, les hôtes nous ont fait nous sentir comme à la maison.Cette gentillesse et cette bienveillance nous ont accompagnées tout au long du séjour grâce aux bons soins de Richard et Edgardo. C'est sans doute le meilleur hostel que nous n'ayons jamais fait. Merci pour votre attention, votre générosité et votre temps. Au plaisir de recroiser votre chemin !

Destaco la atención de Richard hacia el turista, muy humana y siempre tratando de encontrar opciones de actividades que hacer a precios justos y asegurándose de que todo el mundo se sepa mover por la zona (tanto de habla hispana como inglesa, etc.), mostrando su gran conocimiento sobre el Valle del Elqui. C'est une auberge calme et agréable avec un jardin d'où vous pourrez admirer les étoiles confortablement installés dans un des hamacs mis à votre disposition. Les chambres et les sanitaires sont très propres. Et la cuisine est grande et bien fournie (contrairement à la plupart des auberges où je suis allée). Cerise sur le gâteau : le staff est vraiment aux petits soins (surtout Richard qui aura les réponses à toutes vos questions et même des suggestions pour votre programme).

Reviewed Jan 29, 2026The staff were super helpful, especially Richard who was extremely generous with his time and had all sorts of great information about the town, around town, suggestions of where to eat, drink, etc. Our room was large and had a large, comfy bed + another single bed. Shared bathroom but they were very clean. Large, clean, well equipped kitchen for self-catering. They let you leave your luggage there if you arrive early or your bus is later than the checkout time. There's a friendly cat who hangouts there. The hostel itself is large, old, pretty, spacious.

Reviewed Jan 23, 2026La ubicación es muy buena porque estás en plena calle comercial de Vicuña, a pocos pasos del circuito mistraliano y a pocas calles de la plaza. La atención es genial, te dan los mejores consejos sobre la ciudad y otros pueblos del valle (transportes, visitas, compras, observatorios, pisqueras, etc.) y son muy cercanos en el trato. Además la limpieza en las instalaciones es constante. La habitación es bastante cómoda.

You can do a couple of short to medium hikes in the hills close by, and the people, dogs and chickens are all friendly. Staff was helpful and easy to chat with. The kitchen was clean and well equipped, guests share the space easily and courteously. .

Reviewed Oct 12, 2025Very comfortable accommodation, super clean rooms, bathrooms, showers, main areas, and kitchen, great kitchen equipment, central, and easy to get to from the bus station. The host is very nice and gives valuable advices for things to do. He also creates connection between travelers in case you’re travelling by yourself and knows tour providers/bike rental places in town to give recommendations. I really enjoyed my stay here and it felt like being at home even though there were not many people around as I was visiting in shoulder season. Moreover, the garden is very comfortable for relaxing days, watching stars at night, and chilling in the hammocks. Next time, I‘ll stay longer - the Elqui Valley is a very beautiful place to visit as a solo traveller.

Reviewed Sep 11, 2025This place was unbelievable, such clean hostel, with many toilets and showers, cozy rooms with comfy beds, beautiful garden with lots of seating and hammocks from where you can watch the stars. The kitchen is beyond well-equipped, with even more seating. Nice common area. Edgardo is the best host you can ask for, speaks great English, responds to all your questions, he even arranged for me to safely store my luggage in la Serena for couple of hours. This is one of those places you don’t want to leave.

Reviewed Apr 11, 2025I honestly liked everything! The hosts Edgardo and David are super kind and helpful, they genuinely care about you enjoying your time in Vicuna and Valle Elqui. They gave me a lot of recommendations about things to do. The facilities are great, all clean and convenient. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking. Hot clean shower. The bed was super comfortable. The location is great, 5 mins walk from the bus station and next to a handful of restaurants. Very quiet at night.

Reviewed Mar 23, 2025A very nice hostel with such a beautiful atmosphere that I extended my stay to rest and enjoy the garden and the other nice spaces of the hostel. Very clean, comfortable, modern bathrooms, little attentions like tea, coffee, water in the spacious, well equipped common kitchen and beautiful soft sheets on the beds. Laundry service available as well. The owner is also exceptionally nice and helpful, available, thoughtful and speaks perfect English.
