Boutique Guesthouse Dar Zohra is all about details, everywhere. And Abdul (please forgive me if I wrote your name incorrectly) is an extraordinary host; effortlessly he makes us feel like home. The food is authentic, tasty. At night, they light scented candles along the bedrooms corridor. There are cats and a dog. And the view is breathtaking.

There is nothing to not like there.

The location and the house itself are really nice, the view into the valley is truly exceptional. Staff were also very friendly.

Even though it calls itself boutique hotel that was not our impression. The house is nicely decorated but for us lacked in charm and authenticity. During our stay only one other room was occupied. Despite that in the dining room all tables were set with plates etc. ready to go, creating a slightly odd setting. We had dinner and breakfast at Dar Zohra and both can be improved and were on the weaker end of what we experienced during our two week trip especially taking the higher prices into account.

Das Dar Zohra war ein aussergewöhliches Hotel im Ourika-Tal. Tolle Aussicht! Sehr gutes Frühstück! Wunderbar grosse und schöne Zimmer. Alles war sehr gut kombiniert worden und auch das Abendessen im Hotel selbst war tatsächlich auch sehr gut! Wir können dieses Hotel nur weiterempfehlen! Ausserdem war der Service, das Personal sehr aufmerksam und freundlich!

Beim Badezimmer ist die Dusche offen, also kein Duschvorhang oder eine Abtrennung. Funktioniert zwar problemlos, aber so ist halt ein weiter Bereich nass, auch bei der Toilette. Ist ein Nachteil.

We were super impressed with our stay here. It really is a gem of a place in the most stunning location. The only thing you can hear is running water from the river below. Staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming, decor was stunning, food was great and they organised a fantastic trek up to a Berber village with a guide. Was our favourite place we stayed at in Morocco. Highly recommended

Les chiens et les chats présents dans l’auberge sont adorables et donnent l’impression d’être chez soi. Le lieu est vraiment convivial idéal pour les familles et les amis.

Le petit-déjeuner n’était pas très rassasiant : confiture, beurre et miel industriels, servis en dosettes individuelles, ce qui enlève un peu du charme du cadre naturel et de l’authenticité de la région. En revanche, la nourriture était bonne.

We stayed for 3 nights after a week in Marrakech. Lovely hotel and staff with good quality food. We arranged to go hiking with a guide for 2 of the days which was fantastic. Highly recommended!

I loved everything about Dar Zohra. As a solo traveller, the warm welcome and countless acts of kindness from Abdul, Hicham, Danielle, Zohra, and even their dogs and cats were a constant source of joy. The guesthouse itself is stunning — a beautiful building that blends perfectly with the breathtaking Ourika Valley landscape. It is finished to an exceptionally high standard and beautifully decorated with Berber textiles, pottery, and handcrafted artefacts, all thoughtfully used for guests to enjoy. The hikes arranged by the hotel were excellent, with outstanding guides who helped me discover the beauty and culture of this remarkable region. The food at Dar Zohra is exceptional. Every detail, from the menu to the service, is thoughtfully considered and beautifully executed. The service is attentive yet discreet, and I looked forward to every meal. What truly sets this place apart is its heart, which comes from the staff’s genuine delight in caring for their guests. I had accidentally left an item at my previous hotel, five hours away, and Hicham and Abdul somehow managed to coordinate with drivers travelling to and from Marrakech to have it back in my hands within a day. Danielle, the wonderful owner, told me to listen for the nightingale singing from the vegetation below the terrace from dusk until dawn. Hearing it for the first time was a real thrill. Danielle and Zohra also helped me choose a beautiful genuine vintage Azilal rug from their vast collection at a great price.

A beautiful place in a great part of Morocco. The rooms and the lobby are so intricately and thoughtfully decorated. Enjoyed every minute there :-)

This property is amazing! The rooms are very nicely decorated and quite spacious, and we had a private terrace that looked right out onto the valley. The dining/common area is lovely and warm, with floor-to-ceiling windows that give a great view of the mountains. Upon arrival, the staff gave us tea and fruit, and made us a lovely breakfast every day. Dinner is prepared fresh and you can place your order ahead of time so that it is ready when you sit down. The staff were also kind enough to offer us tea while we waited for our taxi to collect us on the last day

The room had only a space heater so it got slightly chilly at night

Das Guesthouse Dar Zohra ist einfach ein Traum. Es ist mit Liebe fürs Details entworfen und eingerichtet worden. Die Zimmer sind sauber, gemütlich und mit einem großartigen Ausblick. Wir haben selten so gut geschlafen. Auch Personal und Essen sind top. Nicht nur das Frühstück war umfangreich, auch das Abendessen war sehr schmackhaft und hat uns gut gefallen. Unser Sohn hat es außerdem geliebt das große Gebäude mit seinem Gelände zu erkunden. Nächstes Mal kommen wir im Frühling wieder, um auch die Terrasse nutzen zu können.

Das Einzige, worauf man sich einstellen muss, ist, dass es in den Wintermonaten (wir waren Ende Dezember dort) etwas kühl in den Zimmern sein kann. Es gibt eine Heizung, aber die schafft es kaum gegen die kalten Wände anzukommen. Wir fanden das am Ende nicht schlimm, denn es gab ausreichend Decken und es war irgendwie auch sehr gemütlich. Außerdem ist es ja typisch für marokkanische Unterkünfte, die häufig nicht besonders gut isoliert bzw. beheizt sind. Das Problem sollte sich außerhalb der 2-3 kalten Monate aber nicht zeigen.

Everything. The location was spot on, the staff were faultless and friendly, the food was great and the facilities were everything we needed for five days of cycling in the Ourika Valley.

Dès le départ, le trajet depuis Marrakech nous a coupé le souffle : des paysages grandioses, des montagnes majestueuses, et un transfert en taxi parfaitement organisé par l’établissement. En chemin, le réceptionniste nous a contactés pour s’assurer que tout allait bien – une attention qui donne déjà le ton. À l’arrivée, le charme opère immédiatement. Le site est splendide, entouré de montagnes, baigné de senteurs de sauge et de verveine. Nos valises sont prises en charge pendant qu’on nous installe à une table élégante, décorée de poteries et de belle vaisselle, avec des chats ronronnants pour compléter ce tableau idyllique. Un thé à la menthe et quelques douceurs nous sont offerts pendant que nous finalisons les formalités : on se sent déjà en vacances. La chambre est un cocon chaleureux : des tissus raffinés, des coussins moelleux, des chandelles qui diffusent une douce lumière, un panier de fruits, une petite gaufre et une lettre de bienvenue personnalisée. Même les babouches pour garder nos pieds au chaud témoignent de cette hospitalité sincère. Une conversation WhatsApp est créée pour répondre à nos moindres besoins – on se sent attendu, choyé. Bien que nous n’y soyons restés qu’une nuit, l’équipe nous a proposé de nombreuses excursions. Et comme nous étions le 24 décembre, la propriétaire Danielle avait organisé un dîner de Noël inoubliable : des petites lampes chauffantes d’appoint créaient une ambiance douce et réconfortante, les mets étaient délicieux, le service attentionné, du vin, des chats et de la musique festive… Tout était parfait. L’atmosphère était si chaleureuse qu’on se sentait comme en famille, loin de chez nous. La nuit fut douce, le lit confortable. Le lendemain, un petit-déjeuner berbère savoureux nous attendait, avant que l’équipe ne prenne soin d’organiser notre transfert retour vers Marrakech. C’est à ce moment que nous avons regretté de n’avoir réservé qu’une seule nuit… La prochaine fois, ce sera pour plusieurs jours, sans hésitation.

Het personeel was heel attent en behulpzaam. De gerechten zijn met de grootste zorg bereid. Het huis zelf is prachtig en smaakvol ingericht.

Un des plus beau établissements de notre séjour au Maroc. Nourriture et café de très bonne qualité et très abordable sur le site. Belle promenade à faire dans les montagnes juste devant la propriété.

The accommodation is just perfect, stylish, comfortable and a magnificent view, the hospitality is great and the people are helpful with everything. For a day trip, highly recommended, the hike towards a Berber Village in the mountains, stunning views and great to see how the authentic people are living and working. The owner has 2 dogs and several cats, they’re welcoming you every morning.

Lovely location with many places to enjoy the views of the valley. Staff were very friendly and helpful during our stay and even shipped back an item that we'd left behind at the end of our stay.

The food in the evening was fine but no more. Concentrating on local cuisine and not trying to pander to western tastes would probably help. Water pressure was so low it was a challenge to get it coming through the shower head.

Beautiful property that has been built in harmony with the environment attention to detail with stunning views from all the rooms and the many terraces overlooking the river valley and mountains. Super tranquil and clean and very relaxing. The owners and Abdul, our host, and were extremely hospitable and kind. The dinner in the evening and the breakfast were delicious. Would highly recommend staying here when exploring the Ourika Valley or even just for a night or two to escape Marrakesh - you won't regret it.

Onze ervaring bij Boutigue Guesthouse Dar Zohra was echt fantastisch. Het uitzicht, de kamer, het terras was allemaal prachtig. Abderrahim, de man die er werkt en altijd voor je klaarstaat, weet veel te vertellen over het gebied. Hij is ontzettend vriendelijk en altijd behulpzaam. Daniëlle en haar dochter Zohra zijn eveneens erg gastvrij en wisten ons veel tips te geven voor onze reis. Je hebt echt het gevoel dat je even in hun wereld stapt en “thuis bent”. We hebben echt een top ervaring gehad, dank daarvoor!

The property is really lovely -beautiful position overlooking the mountains. It’s quiet and it’s clean. Abdou made the stay 100% as he gives excellent service - nothing was too much trouble for him. Service with a smile! The breakfast is very good and the other dishes I ate there were also good and tasty.

The only thing that would make it better would be a pool but the owner explained that as the country suffers from drought that she feels that it is morally incorrect to have one.

The boutique is extremely well located, staffed by hospitable and warm folks - and serves delicious breakfast and dinner. Rooms were comfy and spacious. Linens were fresh. Staff are hard-working and do an excellent job!

I didn't like that we needed to ask for our room to be cleaned. We stayed for 4 nights, but only had staff come into the room to empty the trash / make the bed / change the towels once. The showers with no curtain or door really made for a wet bathroom. This is not a complaint about the staff themselves, but the organization of housekeeping. Housekeepers get a 10, asking for housekeeping gets a 0.

Just amazing, beautiful view on the valley from a private terras...quiet, clean , very comfortable rooms with attention for details, nice ambiance...Great , helpful and proffessional staff. Dinner was really excellent, breakfast great!! You can make a lovely afternoon stroll to the riverside and don't forget to look to the stars at night...breathtaking!!

Beautiful B&B, decorated with great taste and stunningly located. The view from the restaurant and from the room’s balcony is beautiful. The staff was always super friendly and made us feel at home. Thanks so much! We also loved the cats. There is a wonderful rug shop (with stress-free fixed prices) attached to the B&B. The team packed our rug really well so that we could take it as hand luggage, though they would also have shipped it. Everything was very professional.

We were visiting in January and were a bit cold, so make sure to bring warm clothes in winter. If you stay for a longer period (1 week in our case), the breakfast/dinner becomes a bit repetitive, though it is delicious. The area is nice for hiking, but not the best in terms of marked hiking trails - if you come to the Atlas Mountains for serious hiking, there are better areas.

Dar Zohra was wonderful! It has a really lovely cosy atmosphere and the hospitality was warm and attentive. Young Mohammed in particular was such a lovely, helpful, hardworking man. The setting is so lovely - nestled into the most beautiful valley. We ate at the Guesthouse both nights and the food was really hearty and delicious. High recommend!

I’m sure cat lovers would be happy, but there are quite a few cats that hang out in the dining area of an evening. As not a huge cat person, it felt like just a notch too many getting up close and personal while eating.

Danielle’s guest house is stunning sitting in a magnificent valley overlooking the mountains. We were taken care of by Mohamed who was attentive and a great person with a great smile. Danielle’s manager also called Mohamed, arranged a guide and hike for us to a Berber village including lunch which was spectacular. Food was also amazing at Dar Zohra.

The view from the room balcony and terrace is exceptional. The room is very clean and well-maintained. The great attention to detail makes you feel connected to nature and your surroundings. Definitely will be coming back.

The location of the hotel is placed perfectly next to a small river and near a few „hiking“ routes. The food, breakfast and lunch, was good but the main reason the whole experience of our stay was so extraordinary was because of Mohamed and especially Adam which took really good care of all our needs.

The guesthouse is absolutely beautiful. Its very clean, comfortable, and the decoration is amazing.

There was an issue with management regarding my payment. I had paid in advance via booking.com, and despite showing proof of payment via my bank, and also an email receipt, I was questioned and told I need to pay again as the payment hadn't arrived from booking.com. This is an issue between booking.com and the guesthouse - not something I could control, and I didn't appreciate the poor service and lack of apology or accountability.

Dar Zohra was an absolutely unexpected oasis of beauty and relaxation. The pictures look great, but they don’t capture the utter tranquility of the space. Every single detail of the construction/design of this guesthouse has been chosen with care. The rugs in the common area are stunning. The food is fabulous, and the staff make you feel so at home. It is truly an unpretentious luxury. We spent the first day gently hiking in/around the river just below the guesthouse, and the second day in the more famous Setti Fatma. If I found so it again, I would have just stayed by the river below- it is out of a picture book, with almost nobody else around. A big thanks to the team at Dar Zohra, I cannot wait to return! ❤️

What a stunning guesthouse, decorated beautifully, so incredibly tranquil and with truly spectacular views. The staff are incredible. The location is great and there is parking which was great. We had dinner and breakfast there each day and it was spectacular.

We had the most amazing stay here ! We can for one night and extended an extra night because we felt so at home and so relaxed. The location is beautiful, the staff is super friendly and we really felt taken care of. 10/10 would come again.

We loved the building, its interesting layout, coolness in the heat, and the way it is decorated. It is an oasis of calm. It even smells great. Its location on a hillside above a valley gives great views across the river. The staff are friendly, super personable. Nothing is too much trouble. The food, and options of places to eat, are wonderful. It is within striking distance of waterfalls and mountains. We did not want to leave.

I can't fault the hotel or its organisation.

The room itself was well-equipped and comfortable. We were very pleased with our stay, which is why we extended for one more day to enjoy the surroundings and the property. Wonderful place. We loved the idea of staying in a place, with many unique pieces (furniture) of which some can be bought. Very friendly staff, wonderful food, especially the breakfast was generous.

Gorgeous guesthouse with lovely views and such a peaceful ambience. Excellent breakfasts and the dinners were great too - we stayed four nights and ended up eating at the house every night because the food was so good. The house is an excellent base for exploring the mountains (we had a hire car for getting around.)

The guesthouse is absolutely beautiful - we were blown away by the decor / fabrics / art and overall style. Our waiter Adam was brilliant - couldn't ask for more welcoming and kind service. We also met the owner who has a wonderful life story and whose passions reflect the guesthouse. Highly recommend when staying in the Ourika Valley!

So friendly and helpful, when we had a problem with the hire car Mohammed sorted it out for us! Lots of good tips for sightseeing, beautiful rooms, breakfast was great, and we ate in both nights, which was also fantastic.

Service was impeccable, and the overall experience was beyond expectations. Food was delicious and can honestly say, it was on a completely different level to many places I have stayed in Morocco, and this is saying something as I have been all over! The staff can’t do enough for you the moment you arrive, Mohammed, Adam and the other young man in the Dar are so polite and give their time to talk to you, genuine true hospitality, and Danielle who is the owner of Dar Zohra, true interest in her guests, takes time to chat and get to know you, it was like staying with people you knew after only 1 night!

It was perfection, nothing could be improved. The room was stunning, decoration was out of this world, and all communal areas were so inviting, this is definitely a Boutique Dar, a cut above the rest. The cats!! Oh goodness! They are part of the team at Dar Zohra!!
