Schöne und ruhige Anlage mitten in der Natur und in nächster Nähe zum traumhaften Strand. Die Besitzer sind sehr bemüht und herzlich, wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.

Great team, that really wanted us to enjoy our time and nice location in walking distance to the beach.

The huts don't have air conditioning which makes it quite warm during the night.

The tranquility, value, wildlife sightings and stunning beach. This is my second time staying there and I plan to stay there again at some point.

The property was good value for money. The location is amazing, very close to the beach and with lots of wildlife very nearby. The staff were great and very knowledgeable about local wildlife. The air conditioning was also very welcome in the hot weather.

There were often insects and small lizards inside, particularly in the bathroom (this is to be expected as the property is essentially in the jungle, but it is worth bearing in mind before booking). However, a mosquito net is provided so it is not a problem when sleeping.

Außer der Lage nichts, immerhin war es günstig

Es war alles sehr ranzig. Überall Staub und Dreck auf dem Boden, das Bad und die Abflüsse waren richtig widerlich. Es gab zwar eine Küchenzeile, aber es war nichts in den Schränken drin und das Waschbecken sehr fies. Die Handtücher waren sauber aber fusselig. Die Bettwäsche hat frisch gerochen aber war fleckig. Das Moskitonetz hat übel gerochen. Im ganzen Zimmer roch es nach ungewaschen und ranzig. Die Mitarbeiter haben lautstark bis in den späten Abend draußen geredet, da alles aus Holz ist, konnte man alles hören, früh am Morgen dann auch wieder. Scheinbar kann man hier keine Rücksicht auf Ruhe nehmen. Gefrühstück haben wir nicht, weil wir so angeekelt waren. Als wir bezahlen und auschecken wollten, mussten wir eine halbe h warten, bis der Chef kam, um das Geld entgegen zu nehmen

Wunderschöne Anlage mit kleinen Holzhäuser. Sehr ruhig. Nachts und morgens kommen die Flusskrebse aus ihren Löchern. Sehr freundliches, hilfsbereites Personal. Ich komme gerne wieder. 🤩🤩🤩

Proche de la mer et d’un établissement hôtelier avec restaurant chic, cet hôtel familial très simple est de très bonne qualité prix. Il ya deux types de chambres celles en bois avec ventilateur et une chambre en dur avec climatisation Le monsieur et son papa qui vous accueillent sont très gentils et adorent les animaux qui les entourent: singes, écureuils, mangouste, crabes un bonheur à observer depuis sa chambre Le restaurant hipster à quelques pas est top!

Netter Gastgeber, zeigt einem alle seine Tiere im Garten und ist sehr stolz darauf. Zimmer war basic, aber soweit alles vorhanden. Frühstück lecker und reichhaltig. Eine solide Unterkunft mit gutem Preis Leistungsverhältnis, damit ich 9 oder 10 Punkte gebe muss mich eine Unterkunft, aber vom Hocker hauen.

Velmi milý a vstřícný personál.Přítulný hlídací psi u mě spali každou noc na terase.Za mě klídné místo blízko u nádherné pláže kde bylo jen pár turistů.Spousta opic atd.A asi 4km od Tangalle.Skvělý relax a v okolí mnoho k vidění.Doporučuji😄

Weg zum Strand etwas umständlich.

El lugar al principio parece que está perdido en medio de nada, pero luego ves que ese en un lugar muy tranquilo y cerca de TODO. Hicimos piraguas, buscamos tortugas de noche, bañarnos en la playa, coger conchas, comer en un bonito restaurante delante del mar, ver lluvia desde la terraza habitación, etc.. Todo fue increible....

La mosquiteros estaba rota y me picaron muchos mosquitos. Tendría que estar sin agujeros o ofrecer algo ya que habían muchísimos mosquitos....Una pena porque por el resto todo bien! Sin el guarda del hotel que te acompaña a todos los sitios y recomienda bien, el lugar no sería el mismo.

Beach was very nice & clean. ECO Cabana is very nice place to stay. Room was very calean & comfortable. The owner is very nice person.

Perfect location in the middle of nature, surrounded by the jungle and animals : crabs, monkeys, lizards, etc A lot of restaurant options around. The jungle is only a few minutes walk crossing the lake. The beach is the most wonderful one I've ever seen : a jungle beach with almost no one for km. The host and staff was very kind and he even offered me a gift !

Location and staff was really nice

The fan was pretty noisy and also there were mosquitos under mosquito net. It was good value for money though.

The manager was so nice and helpful. Really wonderful person to have as staff. And we had abonus fridge in the room which was great.

The place is really run down and in need of some TLC and maintenance. Lots of rust everywhere. Sinks not working. Holes in the mosquito nets. There was even a mouse getting into our room at night.

Only a small negative..the towels were difficult to dry yourself after a shower seemed more synthetic than cotton I was quicker drying outside on the balcony than trying to dry with the towel Only a tiny negative other wise 9/10

Simple but has everything one needs

Great location - really peaceful and a nice break if you’ve been at a busier beach area like Mirissa. Friendly staff - the guy on reception was always available, very relaxed and helpful, showed us the shortcut to the beach and helped us get a Tuktuk to the main road on our last morning. Lovely nature - birds, friendly dogs, lizards…keep your eyes open when you relax on the balcony! Choice of food - plenty of peaceful restaurants and even a little shop or two nearby to save you going into Tangalle every day. Plus listen out for the bakery van going by!

WiFi was hit and miss (mostly miss!) so not ideal if you are planning on doing any work etc. Towels left lots of fluff on your body but we had our own to use instead so no problem.

Clean cabins a short walk from the beach. Great place to rest if you are on a beach holiday. It was my transit stop and they were really helpful with logistics, arranging for a pick up from Beliatta and advising on buses for my onward journey.

We loved Tangalle, and this was a great place to stay in the area. We loved the natural setting and the layout of the grounds. The units were separated by a decent amount of space so you weren't disturbed by your neighbours. The room (and the whole area) was clean and quiet, and everything worked well. We appreciated having the small fridge and the AC. We saw peacocks and other wildlife on the grounds while we were there. They have a separate, traditional hut with a bar and seating area. This is where the wi-fi router is, so it has the best reception (we still had service in our room, but lower bars). There is a basic menu with affordable options for breakfast and dinner, so you don't have to worry about going in to town if you don't want to. Everything was cooked to perfection, and it was very affordable. They also have bottled water available for purchase if you need it. The hosts worked hard keeping everything clean and well maintained and they were super friendly and helpful. When we arrived, we asked them to rearrange the furniture (as we weren't a couple), which they gladly did - even though we were late arriving. It was a short walk to the beach area and the surrounding area seemed safe for walking around - even at night. If you'd rather take a tuk, the hosts are able to arrange for that option, too. The hosts also gave us excellent advice on where to watch the turtles and we were able to see more than one turtle lay their eggs on the night we went out. It was a truly magical experience. (Bring your RED light if you want to do this. No flash photography or regular flashlights as this will disturb the turtles while they are laying. Also, please be respectful. The turtles don't want you watching and taking photos of them close up while they are laying their eggs any more than you'd want them in the delivery room with you!) It was a very enjoyable, and relaxing stay. We will definitely be staying here again!

Waking up to the sounds of nature and enjoying the fresh sea breeze was pure bliss. One of the highlights of my trip was kayaking nearby. The calm waters and beautiful surroundings made it a delightful adventure. If you're looking for a quiet escape where you can unwind and enjoy a pristine beach experience, this eco cabana at Marakolliya Beach is the perfect choice. Highly recommend!

Few holes in mosquito net but at this price, cannot complain too much

I just loved this place! They have a lovely dog, which accompanied me to the beach, which is nearby and very clean. Wonderful place to relax. Nearby is a shop and many tourist restaurants. When you want tasty homemade food, I recommend Food Haven, which is 10 min walk from the cabanas.

A fridge would be nice to have

The host Viduksha is very relaxed and also very accommodating, helping us out with everything, even if requests were v last minute.

It's tough to keep the place clean but there was no cleaning at all during the day. Sand got everywhere, and with the humidity things will naturally just get a bit dirty.

The cabanas themselves are very cool and comfortable to stay in. Lovely views abs it insurers.chilled out. The location is incredible, a short walk to a gorgeous beach. There were lots of dogs around this area including a pair who slept on our balcony and accompanied us on trips to the beach. So if you are afraid of dogs maybe it's not the place for you but we loved it. The owner was helpful in arranging tuk tuks and our onward travel too.

There is some outdated info on the website saying that they do meals. They don't but there are options close by. Some people staying nearby our Cabana decided to play really loud music at 3 am, which woke up several guests. The owner of the Cabana just shrugged his shoulders and said there was nothing he could do, when we mentioned it the next day. This was a bit of a shame.

Beautiful place to stay, the owner was so helpful and showed me the short cut to the beach. Such good value for money. Also, I was given a free upgrade which was lovely :)

Little bit dusty in rooms

decent sized room and comfortable bed, good location close to the lagoon and beach. we just wanted a place to sleep since we were in transit and it met our purpose. The next door property is the place to be for beach and lagoon activities.

The location to the property can be misleading maybe due to lagoon location, google maps can show a very narrow path only 1 vehicle can travel and if you get stuck you will have to reverse the whole way back. get proper directions from the property, even though the room is big the lighting is poor, very dimly lit, and the rooms are sort of wood cabanas and there are some signs of critters here and there.

We really really liked it here. Our Cabana was really clean and cozy and the balcony’s are so nice to just relax a bit. It’s just a couple of minutes to the beach and some restaurants and a small shop is near by. To go to Tangalle and around we would suggest to rent a scooter. It’s cheaper than always use a Tuktuk. The owner is really friendly and helpful! :) If you do like to stay in the nature, in some peace we would 100% recommend it.

Groovy rustic cabanas, not far from the beach (ask about the shortcut) good food in the area but in low season (when we went) a lot are closed. The manager is a lovely guy, very helpful and cheerful. Apparently gets really busy in peak season so it was nice to have the place all to ourselves, very relaxing. Like everywhere near the coast bring mozzie repellent.

Clean and well-maintained, the cabanas were a peaceful escape with beautiful wooden interiors, hygienic baths and good facilities. The caretaker Vidukshak is extremely helpful and it is merely five minutes walking from the beautiful Tangalle beach. Also, the dogs on the property are adorable!

It was really cheap and the accomodation was luxury. The owner took care of everything and the wifi was awesome compared to other hotels in Sri Lanka. It is close to the beach and you have more than enough space in your room. It is the best accomodation I have ever been in Sri Lanka. Breakfast was delicious. Thanks for everything.

The proximity to the beach in a serene area of Tangalle added to the charm of our stay. The spacious rooms and the natural surroundings created a truly delightful atmosphere that we thoroughly enjoyed. It was a perfect blend of comfort and nature, making our experience truly memorable.

The rooms during the day were super hot even with the fan!

The staff could not of been more attentive..location for us was perfect . we did hire a bike locally which was a great addition.

I had planned to stay 2 days and ended up staying 6. Eco stands for ecology, which means simple wooden huts in green surroundings near a lagoon, with exotic birds waking you up in the mornings, monkeys visiting, friendly stray dogs and moskitos. Eco stands more for economy here, so if you rent a scooter (2500 per day) you easily can make it the base for your explorations of this lovely part of Sri Lanka to do the following: - buy moskito coil in Tangalle - walk 6 km on a beautiful empty beach to Rekawa for sunrise - watch the small turtles come out of their eggs at 6 pm every day at the nearby turtle watch station - watch the big sea turtles come ashore late at night for hedging - rent a kayak nearby and explore the lagoon - have dinner with seaview or not at one of the nice nearby restaurants - visit Tangalle, Dickwella beach, Dondra Head Lighthouse and the Matara forts by scooter or TucTuc - visit Mulkirigala rock monastery by scooter or TucTuc - visit Tissamahawa and Kataragama temples if you don't .mind a longer scooter ride. Include Rajamaha Temples If you don't mind the dirt roads in the national park. The beach is a 5 minute walk away and you can hear the waves breaking from far. All in all for me it was a really lovely place with friendly staff. The longer I stayed the more I liked it.

Moskitos at night. The moskito net too short; you do need moskito coil. If there are high waves the beach is not ideal for swimming. The surf tends to be short and steep. Go to Dickwella for ideal waves.

We had an awesome time at this place! The food was delicious and clean. The owner even helped us with transportation which was super nice. Our family, especially the kids totally loved the place and all the fun activities like turtle watching, boat rides and kayaking. It's a safe spot for the little ones Sending out a huge thanks to the owner and the incredible staff. You guys made our stay extra special!

Our stay at this hostel in Tangalle stands out as one of the best accommodations we've experienced in Sri Lanka. The hosts were incredibly helpful, addressing all our concerns and even guiding us to the nearby beach, just a short 5-minute walk away through another hotel complex. The room was excellent value for money – clean, spacious, and well-appointed. The small balcony provided a perfect spot to unwind, and inside, ample shelves made it easy to keep our belongings organized. A thoughtful touch was the mosquito net for each bed, ensuring a comfortable night's sleep. I highly recommend this hostel for a memorable and enjoyable stay in Tangalle.

There were nighttime noises from roaming dogs that disturbed our sleep.

Very cozy cabanas with all the necessities, very close to the beach and beautiful surroundings . Extremely friendly hosts, we had a little problem with our cabana and they let us sleep in another cabana without hesitation. We also needed transport to Ella, the host provided us a car and drove us himself all the way to Ella. 100% recommend this accommodation.

Had the coolest time at Eco Cabanas Marakolliya recently. We were a bit nervous as there were many foreign guests around. But the staff exceeded our expectations!!! 10/10 for treating everyone like fam. Highly recommended for both foreigners and local visitors.

Besides the room we booked, they kindly let us use a spotless and well arranged kitchen with all the equipment. The beds were really comfy, giving us a great night's sleep. Got woken up by the delightful sounds of birds in the morning. The owner even arranged transportation facilities for us to explore Udawalawe national park. Thanks again for everything!

The owner and the folks working there were awesome and really had our backs. They took great care of us and even offered us transportation facilities. Staying in the wooden cabana was super chill with the peaceful surroundings. We had access to this sweet beach just about 150 meters away. And the turtle watching was so much fun and it was less than half a mile from where we stayed. Can't wait to swing by for another visit on our next tour to Sri Lanka!
