It was fantastic to live for a short time in the history of WW1. I was surprised to see the extent of the grounds, complete with museum. Parking for my Vespa was in the bike shed , perfect.
Nothing!
Unieke ervaring.
This is a unique place to stay. It has the history of a little bit of kindness in a time of true cruelty and horror. The volunteers that run Talbot House care passionately about keeping this piece of history alive.
Nothing. Be aware that toilets and showering facilities are shared. But it’s a small price to pay and it didn’t concern me at all.
Personeel was uiterst aangenaam.

De tea was voortreffelijk, my dear. Wees daarop voorbereid.
Sfeer, warmte gezelligheid top ontbij

It's Toc house, there is only one! Very calm and peaceful, beautiful garden friendly team
We were a bit confused by one of the local volunteers, we were told breakfast wasn't included (it was). Where we were told to park, a helpful neighbour said don't park there you'll get towed and they directed us to a nearby free carpark. The f/t team were fab.
De sfeer is speciaal, heel vriendelijk en open. Lekker ontbijt en uitstekende koffie! Prachtige tuin.
Good safe motorcycle parkingbin the rear garden.
The perfect place to stay if you're visiting Ypres, steeped in history and character. There is no other place I would stay in the area. Five stars all the way. If you want room service and an ensuite, this isn't the place for you. But if you want a unique and authentic experience, clean rooms and very friendly staff then this is the place to go.
A gem. This place used to be an R&R favourite with British troops and is also a museum... that you can actually sleep in. I was assigned the 'General's Room', usually a daytime exhibit. The guest house is lovingly run by voluntary wardens from the UK and really is a little bit of England in the heart of Belgium. The staff were extremely helpful and full of useful info and advice, making the stay even more unique . I hope to return.
History and atmosphere. Friendly staff
A little problem with overnight beeping alarm

Garden, location, room was air-conditioned . Close to the town square, Popringe Military Cemtary, the hotel has a wonderfulul museum. I will be back. Loved it.
Breakfast was okay. But others raved about it. It was simple.
It was in a living museum, it was fascinating
Staying in a museum
Warm onthaal ! Fantastisch onderhouden pand!

Ontbijt voldoende. Geen opmerkingen.
Twee persoons bed.
Talbot House is the most amazing place to stay. Steeped in history the house and gardens are so calming and the team who manage everything were the most professional people Ive ever meet in the hospitality world. We went there go go to a metal concert and even though we looked like 2 typical heavy metal fans we were welcommed with open arms. We intend going back next year for longer and intend to see more of this area and enjoy the spectaculor house and gardens again. Highly recommended....

Authentic WW1 rooms. Lovely atmosphere about the whole place and loads of history. Safe cycle storage
Nothing

What outstanding stories lie behind these doors! Talbot House will stay in my heart forever. We made new friends in a historic setting whose purpose was friendship and care. An amazing experience.

Nostalgisch vertoeven.

A very special place, preserving the house that provided respite to soldiers during WWI, and crucially, a place where the motto was “Abandon rank, ye who enter here” - in other words every soldier was welcome regardless of rank, which is why it was called Every Man’s Club.
The history, you don’t get to stay in a museum often. Being able to see some of the history in the guest area and then visit the exhibition the next day really made it, incredibly moving. Breakfast was great, we ordered the cooked breakfast as an extra (good to have a veggie option) Excellent value for money as well.
Unfortunately there was a mess up with the booking, possibly due to a staff changeover, but we had specifically booked a room in the main building, and got allocated to the garden block, which is also part of the historic building complex. It was too late by then someone else was in our room. That was disappointing because we’d spent ages choosing the room for maximum historic interest. This would have been OK otherwise except, though when we were shown the room it was warm and cosy, we just could not get the heating system to work later in the night (one of those combined A/C & fan ones) and it was arctic outside that night so we somewhat froze. Probably useful to make sure people have instructions. However a good breakfast cheered us up and we reflected it was probably more authentic to experience the temperature that the troops might have done!
Uniek kader. We hadden ogen te kort.
niets :-)
A quirky fun place to stay on the actual museum. Shared bathroom but all clean and nearby. Amazing history and feel to the house. All very friendly and welcoming.
The road was quite noisy at night and we had to have windows open as the weather was very hot. Probably fine if you could close the windows.

Friendliness of staff and guests. Unique place. Wonderful trays of tea. Ample selection for the included continental breakfast. Idyllic gardens.
Mooie historische plek

Rien C parfait
A wonderful place that breathes history and where you feel an incredibly warm welcome.
It is an old house and therefore a bit noisy, but that is of course a logical consequence of the type of building and it did not bother us. We had earplugs with us, but since we slept in the "garden-house" (and not on the street side) they were only used for the snoring of our own roommate 😀
Beautiful building, great breakfast and convenient location. I went to Belgium for a World War 1 venture and knowing the building itself being part of that history made the stay so much more interesting. The staff are very welcoming and happy to help with any needs you have.

It is a privilege to be able to stay in such an amazing place. So full of history and charm
The bathroom window wouldn’t close completely and it was a bit chilly in the middle of the night!
