Reviewed Mar 30, 2025Mary gave us a warm and informative welcome. Mary’s accommodation was beautiful, stylish and practical (loved the dishwasher in a drawer!). The bed was super comfortable and the bedroom opened onto an established garden with a collection of interesting plants, avocado trees and views over a dry stone wall (which made my Welsh husband feel very at home) onto open fields. The location was truly
peaceful and in the absence of light pollution we were treated to a magnificent night sky. The fridge was generously stocked with cereal, yoghurt, fruit, bread, butter and Jam and Mary also provided a selection of teas and coffee.
We really enjoyed our stay.

Privacy was the main reason for selecting this B&B hoping to be undisturbed for both work and relaxation. The location boasts absolute peace and quiet set in a beautifully landscaped property. We also appreciated the hosts valued our need for privacy, but compassionately showed concerns about provisions for our dietary situation The breakfast stocks were more than adequate and the kitchenette has everything you need to self cater for any other meals. The tasteful decor and all the other little special touches make this place one I would highly recommend.

Reviewed Feb 9, 2025Supremely comfortable accommodation in a rural setting, Mary's Tranquil B&B is a five star stay. The surroundings are immaculately presented as is the interior. The stylish furnishings and decor could easily be imagined in a glossy home interiors magazine. Clever design features such as sliding doors and a folding screen in front of the kitchen facility mean that space is maximized and is aesthetically pleasing too.. Breakfast provisions are generous and a microwave as well as two ceramic elements mean that guests could easily prepare a meal should they wish to. Despite being somewhat rural it's still a quick drive to the town to takeaways and restaurants. Mary provides a warm welcome yet maintains your privacy and peace. Tranquil is a most apt descriptor for this accommodation and its setting. This is a place I plan to return to - luxury without the price point to match. Mary's generosity even extended to a gift of a bag of avocadoes on my way home. Thank you!

Reviewed Feb 8, 2025Mary has done a spectacular job with this B&B - it’s definitely in my top 3 of all time, and I’ve stayed at many. The sweeping driveway through orchards immediately inspires and calms you. And when you eventually reach the house, you are tempted to check you’ve got the address right ! Mary and Neville warmly welcomed me on the driveway and I was quickly shown to my ‘home’ for 3 nights. The front door opens into the first of two HUGE bedrooms - both with masses of storage space. Directly between the bedrooms is a beautifully equipped bathroom, fully stocked with everything you’d need. And beyond that is a large lounge with a lovely kitchenette behind folding doors. Prior to going out to the local store, I had a cursory look in the fridge and cupboards to see what I needed to buy for breakfast . . . in short, absolutely NOTHING. Mary had supplied everything I could possibly need, and more !!! If you seek tranquility and serenity in a B&B . . . Mary’s in the place to be 🙏.

The wifi worked well and I managed to do a little bit of work in the evening.
We had everything that we needed for a comfortable stay.

The bed was super comfy, the whole place was spotless and beautifully appointed. The kitchen was stocked with many yummy things and Mary was so welcoming and friendly. There wasn’t a single detail she missed. I look forward to staying again as this will be my regular Whangarei accommodation from now on. Thanks again, Mary for such a relaxing and luxurious stay!

We felt as if we were staying in a 5 star luxurious hotel suite. On our departure, Mary gifted to us some beautiful fresh produce from her farm. Breakfast was so good. Thankyou Mary, we will recommend your stay to anyone we know heading in your direction.

Reviewed Apr 2, 2024Mary’s Tranquil B&B is excellent! Spacious, quiet, very tasteful interior. Outside terrace. Beautiful big garden with many avocado trees. The owners kindly gave us a bag of super delicious avocados when we left.
Just a tiny detail: although there was an ample breakfast ready in the fridge, we would have loved a fresh piece of fruit, in stead of the canned fruit.

This is our first time using a B&B and we were truly bless to have found Mary; She was very friendly and welcoming. Mary shared her lovely avocados from her beautiful avocado orchard which we are grateful for.
The place is truly a gem, we are sad we couldn’t stay longer. We will definitely be returning to Mary’s place.
We have no negative comments since we enjoy our stay very much.

dreamed of visiting New Zealand and, like most people who have children, jobs,ups, and downs during the long journey, we finally got here.
The minute we drove up to the concrete house, we knew it was special. Mary came out to meet us ( she is even more beautiful than the house!). The house was spotless. Every blanket, pillow, towel, and dish are just perfect, and all this on 8 hectares!!
The next shocker was that Mary and Neville owned a beach house in Matapouri with a view of the beach and bay with the same perfection. It's very hard to explain the level of elegance and detail
In the decor... sort of fancy in a comfortable way but loving and warm like the owners of these two properties. We can't wait to come back, but 5 stars isn't high enough!
From the start of our stay to the end, we were welcomed with opened arms. Couldn't do more to make our stay special. Everything was thought of and so peaceful. Thank you Mary

Furnishings, bedding, and interior of unit were brand new. Property had many fruit trees, palm trees, very idyllic. We loved our stay and Mary and her husband were wonderful hosts.
