Mango Villa

Loved my stay at Mango Villa. Large, comfortable room with a nice balcony space to have a coffee amongst the mango trees. Location is brilliant, minutes away from everything. Damini was an amazing host and did so much to help me organise my trip including arranging a car from Alleppey, booking a sunrise kayaking trip and sorting my train back to Kochi. She kept in touch along the way to make sure everything was good. Would 100% recommend.

A special little place in Varkala. Clean rooms, hot shower and a homely feel surrounded by fruit trees. Also, Damini was incredibly kind and warm :)

Lovely spacious room in this little villa 10 minutes from the north cliff and about 7 from the helipad. Immaculately clean and airy. Damani was the perfect host and extremely helpful and accommodating with all requests and enquiries. Perfect for the solo traveller.

This was a very cozy and clean accommodation. And the lovely host Damini and her brother were very nice and helped us book different activities and taxis. Always very quick at responding and when we had problems they were quick to help.

Loved that it was a family house so owners available but also discrete. It is near main restaurants and shops - about 5 min walk away in quiet back streets, felt safe walking alone, lit up and other properties near by. I loved my room - comfortable, nicely decorated with a lovely balcony overlooking the back garden. Owners are lovely - friendly and helpful and booked taxis for me

Nothing! There is no fridge in the room which would have been a bonus but owners let me use theirs to chill a beer!

My experience at this accommodation was uniquely positive. The quiet location, the beautiful garden, the clean, spacious, and stylish room with a balcony – everything was perfect. Additionally, Damini is an exceptionally hospitable and wonderful person. I will come back.

Damini was a wonderful host, available to answer any questions and provide recommendations. Quiet location away from the crowds, but only a short walk to the cliff. Lovely balcony to sit out on and look over the garden. Tea and coffee making facilities available, good WiFi. Purified water provided, and can be refilled, but you do need to ask. Damini kept in touch during our stay with WhatsApp.

Little worn in places and needing a bit of repair here and there, but nothing that was a problem.

We stayed for one night at Mango Villa, and it was fantastic. The location is super. The rooms were quiet, big and very clean. The communication with the host, Damini, was super easy and useful; we got a lot of nice recommendations of things to do, places to visit, and restaurants to eat. Breakfast, Aloo paratha with pickle and curd, was delicious and cheap (250 INR).

Hard mattresses. The fan is a little bit noisy but to us nothing super annoying. WiFi a little bit weak.

We loved our big room and verandah. There was plenty of water. The owner was a delightful woman and very helpful. A very chilled stay.

Damini is brilliant, she’s a very hospitable and helpful host who wants you to see the best of Varkala. Varkala was our favourite stop on our Keralan adventure and Mango Villa is amazing location to experience the best parts.

Charming villa tucked away, leafy and everything. Plus Damina was ever so patient, allowing me to check my baggage early and wander around Varkala for longer and check-in much later than I should have.

We loved everything! Damini is a fantastic host and a wealth of knowledge for restaurants, atms, transport etc. Our room with a balcony is a great size and nice to sit on the balcony overlooking greenery once it cools off. The cliff and beach are only a 5 min convenient walk away where you will find all the restaurants and bars. It's nice to stay at Mango Villa though where it is really quiet at night. Hot water is plentiful and we have a kettle and tea/coffee in our room to start the day. I highly recommend staying at Mango Villa, you won't regret it.

Very quiet location, very clean, staff friendly & helpful. Decent WiFi, hot water & aircon. Only a short 3 minute walk from the North cliff area restaurants, beach etc.

The breakfasts were yummy and plentiful. Damini is friendly and helpful. The room was spacious, clean and mosquito free.

Mango Villa is very peaceful and comfortable. Damini is a treasure. She was delightful to talk with and she helped me with my my onward rail travel.

We came to stay at Mango villas after another property completely let us down. Mango was a BREATH of fresh air compared to the other place, the pricing is reasonable, Damini was so incredibly helpful and conscientious - we breathed a BIG sigh of relief when we arrived! The facilities are clean, there's laundry, transport support, it's in a lovely quiet spot yet MOMENTS from the beach - honestly look no further.

We were in a non-AC room, which I personally prefer, but if you are a light sleeper I'd perhaps advise an AC room as most ceiling fans in India can be a little loud on full-pelt. This is more a word of advice for booking NOT a criticism, we LOVED Mango!

We've been travelling India for 2 months staying in all sorts of different places with different budgets and Mango Villas was one of our happiest experiences. The first impressions are wonderful and the house is unique in how it looks from the outside, with a lovely garden and beautifully maintained and decorated. Damini is a fantastic host who is so relaxed and friendly and welcoming couldn't be more helpful (exchanged so many whatsapps with tips and recommendations). And then the room was perfect; spacious, super clean, with all the amenities you need, brilliant (working, quiet, clean) Air con and a nice balcony. Also such a great location for Varkala as 2 mins from the town and cliffs but silent for a great nights sleep. Best place we've stayed maybe in India, but certainly the best place to stay in Varkala!

Wow, everything was absolutely wonderful. Mango Villa is super clean, spacious and has lots of artsy touches and details to make it memorable and comfortable. The rooms are really well decorated and maintained. You have everything you need, filtered water too. The lovely Chechis do a great job cleaning the room whenever asked. There's also space on the roof perfect for yoga or just hanging out. You feel like your tucked away in a little jungle. The balcony is fabulous. Listening to all the birds while sitting there is beautiful. It's a gem, close to the cliff and near everything, but very quiet and relaxing. The hostess with the mostest, the adorable Damini bent over backwards to help us on many occasions with anything we needed. Her brother Anmol can make you tasty breakfast at his place down the road on request. Delish! We were able to work online from the room, so we could extend our stay to a month! We didn't want to leave, so fortunate we found it!! Damini, thanks so much for all of your help and for being such a joy to be around, Mango Villa felt like a home because of you and we can't wait to go back.

We arrived at Damini‘s Mango Villa and loved it straight away. The place is very charming and cozy and we especially loved the small details that give you that feeling of home. Damini‘s beautiful character and warmth add to the charm. Definitely would come to Varkala to stay with her again!

The only good part of the property was that the location was good.

1. Cleanliness should be better. Outside balcony had ants and therefore we could not sit there. 2. Electricity issues (frequent power cuts) for 2 days almost 3. There were no chairs inside the room to sit. The room was very dimly lit. 4. Toiletries essentials (like 2 soaps, toothpaste etc) weren't provided considering the price we paid. 5. Waterlogging in front of the property. The road to the property was broken and during the rains water logging on the entire stretch was present 6. Basin tap constantly leaked water. Considering the motto of the owner that we should be sustainable, this was one of the most frustrating things. We weren't provided packaged drinking water, instead had to refill the bottles from outside. 7. No blankets or even comforters were provided. TLDR: Look for other properties. The negative reviews show the right picture of the property. Positive reviews might be fake.

Home away from home! Such a clean cosy room with very thoughtful details :) Attentive host who is more of a friend.

Hot water was not available, the door and door lock were very rusty, the socket near the bed doesn't fit the charger, the blanket was too thin, pillows didn't had the cover. Auto cannot come at the doorstep and the road was muddy so I had to carry the luggage bags.

Had a wonderful 2 night stay at Mango Villa. It is run by a brother and sister duo from Delhi since the last year. The room is spacious and had a very comfortable bed + pillows. Bathroom soap, towel, loo roll and shampoo is provided. I was always able to get hot water whenever I wanted it. Hosts are very helpful with providing restaurant recommendations and also helping arrange transport around Varkala. Really good wifi throughout propert with multiple routers in place. My room had A/C but perhaps not every room does as I couldn't tell from the photos but a quick message to them confirmed in advance my room would have it. The location is also perfect - 5-10 mins walk to the beginning of the north cliff face where all the cafes and views are but enough distance away that the loud late night music doesn't reach you as it does with other accommodation closer to the cliff. Balcony is ideal to dry towel and clothes out on.

International visitors can only pay with cash. Means you have to carry a lot of extra money - would be better if card was accepted or they took money via booking.com when booking. As other reviews have mentioned, bedding consists of a bedsheet and then a heavy blanket - something lighter would be good for the heat.

Damini and Anmol were excellent hosts. The property was clean and in a very good location with fast access to the beach and at the same time quiet and perfect for having a good night of sleep. Breakfast is available upon request.

This was my first experience in a homestay / villa. The location is excellent. just 3 mins walk from the cliff. It saves you from the hustle bustle of the cliff without any compromise on the proximity. Property has good vibes. there were many adjoining homestays but this one had very positive energy. Hosts Damini and Anmol are very good. Helpful and informative. Rooms was absolutely clean and daily cleaning can be arranged. Room was big and spacious. Outside sitout area looks cool. We didnt try their meals but just had aloo paranths packed when we were leaving. They were Awesome!! we shud have tried more food items there. they are prompt in responding to any communication. They have recently acquired this property and i wish them good luck!

No hot water. Even though the climate was warm, at night after taking a dip in the sea, you need hot water to take bath. That really needs to be fixed. We did raise our concern... Side tables - We missed small side tables to keep our stuff like medicine, water bottle, specs, mobile phone by our head side. we had to keep everything on the floor. we tried using the center table from outside sit-out area but not convenient..

We had a lovely stay here. Mango Villa has a very peaceful location set back from the cliff top, is very clean and has large rooms. We also got lots of local recommendations from the host on where to eat. Thank you for looking after us.

Good family hotel with a very helpful host. Only 5 min walk from the Varkala Cliff and the beach, when you find the short cut. Large double room with good bed, shower, private balcony and fan. AC if you are ready to pay extra. A nice 3-days stay for me and my son!

On the first look the place is give chill vibes. It is surrounded with greenery. The check in was smooth. We checked in early for which we were charged extra. The room was cozy and comfortable. The bathroom was clean. I liked the sitting area in the balcony, it was very spacious. A nice place to sit and chill. Anmol (the host) is very helpful and resourceful. He is available around the clock.He was kind enough to arrange a good conditioned scooty for us. The breakfast menu is nice and the dishes were yummy. The main attraction, the cliff, is within 5 min walking distance. All in all we returned with good memories and I very much recommend this place.

This is the best place to stay in Varkala. It is very close to the cliff, nevertheless very quiet and cosy and the rooms are spaciious and very clean with a very nice balkony. The people are very friendly, helping their guests with everything and making them feel at home. I liked this place so much that I came back here and I can highly recommend this place to everyone.
