Provider-sourced guest reviews.
Because breakfast staff were away (for understandable reasons) we were only served delicious bread, avocado and hot tea. Sufficient for our needs.
The battery for the small night lamp had not been charged. For future guests having that lamp charged would be appreciated. We managed fine without it.
Stanza pulita, host gentile e disponibile
The best in the world
I stayed in the double room with a queen size bed. The room was very clean and quiet. The location was good because it was near where I needed to be. And the price was very reasonable. The owner and his family were very nice and accommodating!! Overall, it was a great place for the price, and I would definitely stay again!!
It is a good place within easy walking distance to town. Cheap beer. Stayed 3 weeks. No issues.
Typical Cambodian wildly expensive food menu, with caveat being one time I did eat something it was tasty (beef noodle soup).
A basic, clean and comfortable room. Aircon, water bottles towels. Nice breakfast for a few dollars. Tuk tuk ride to town 2 dollars, or a 20 minute walk. Manel organized tuk tuks to pick us up.
Soap in our bathroom would be nice.
The girl who welcomed us was lovely. It's a lovely building, comfy bed and pillow.
A wee bit far from town.
The staff really helpful and the food is great. I liked the location although it is not close to the downtown. The bed was comfortable and clean.
There were a lot of ants in the shower, a huge amount. The owner took care of it and it was clean and alright in about an hour.
15 min vom Zentrum entfernt, ruhig gelegen. Weiter zu empfehlen.
Nichts
It is a quiet place inside the city. Manel the host was also very nice and very reactive. You can rent a scooter at the guesthouse, the food is good. He can also help you for many other things such as booking a trek or a bus ticket.
Not very clean, outdated, felt oike we were bothering wvery time you would ask a question. No helpful
Manel was very accommodating and communicative. The room was very clean with AC, hot water, and a comfortable bed. I had a great stay and would stay again!
I really enjoyed this guesthouse, but there is a MASSIVE caveat you need to know and it was why I made a review of this place in the first place (booked third party transport). This is such a lovely guesthouse. It is clean, Manel (who also speaks great English) is so friendly and welcoming - along with the rest of his family! You can see that they really enjoy and take care of their customers. His wife cooks the most amazing food - from local indigenous bunong meals to other amazing dishes like the stir fry and lok lak (all for USD$4-7). I ate here every night and never felt like I needed to explore what other restaurants there were. Their friendliness and amazing food was the highlight of this place. He also offers many different tours such as seeing elephants and multiday hikes through the jungle to a local Bunong Village (I did the 2D1N option for USD$75 - ask for the guide Hong because he was amazing and will also tell you how he met Gordon Ramsey in his local village) I don't drink coffee, but after being in Vietnam I've been more open to drinking coffee and have been trying to find the taste of the first coffee I had (it was in a random umbrella market I never knew the name of). Based on a recommendation here on booking, I tried their coffee (which uses beans grown in this province - Mondulkiri). Hilariously enough, the coffee they offer (hot condensed milk) reminded me EXACTLY of the coffee I lost and I am very sad I only tried it the morning I left. The showers and toilets are clean and they have a hammock that I spent so much time lounging around in. The rooms have locked draws and mosquito nets which is nice. It is a little out of town, but after walking up and down more than twice you don't realize how far away it is.
MAJOR NEGATIVE: Before you read this, please do not make this part impact your decision on if you should or should not come here based on this incident - it was the driver who is awful (and shouldn't be driving commercially/at all) and he works with a different company, unfortunately I booked the transport from MONDULKIRI TO RATANAKIRI through this guesthouse. I have messaged Manel about this before the review and he is a honest and hard working man who I can see him decide to not use that company to Ratanakiri anymore after one of his customers had this incident in September 2025. Mondulkiri to Ratanakiri takes about 3h and was THE WORST drive I've ever had - I don't want to exaggerate but it is true. In this time, the driver hit a dog (he didn't slow down, only honked at the dog standing in the middle of the road), was constantly driving too fast and not breaking (or slowing down) early enough which nearly caused him to drive into a kid that ran across the road without looking and then also nearly hit a motorbike with a family on it doing a U turn because at that moment he got a call and looked down at his phone to answer the call (he used it over a quarter of the time he drove and also often drove on the other side of the road way more than what is considered normal for southeast asia standards). I love Manel's Guesthouse, but please don't book transport direct specifically from Mondulkiri to Ratanakiri but use VET Buntham instead. If you do book this specific journey and get a car showing up from a company called Seng Hong Mini Van I will genuinely pray to God for you (and I'm not religious).
Manel was very helpful and his wife and daughter were also there to help look after us and cook on request with an extensive menu. He is knowledgeable about what to do in the area. Taking into account where this is located and the price i think it's a good option if you are used to hostelling.
Basic but nice room, nothing negative to say.

The room was basic but clean and functional.
It was clean and it was one of the 3 places where we could get picked up for the Mondulkiri Elephant Project.
The adult staff didn't seem to be friendly or welcoming. The food in the evening was not great. The guest house was on the edge of town and it was a bit of a trek to get anywhere.
I had a wonderful stay at Manel Guesthouse. Manel is an incredible host and his family is lovely and very helpful, making me feel right at home from the moment I arrived. The rooms are simple but spotlessly clean and provide everything you need for a comfortable stay in Mondulkiri. I also really enjoyed the meals here—the food is very tasty and clearly prepared with care. A huge highlight for me was the awesome terrace, which is the perfect spot to relax and soak in the peaceful atmosphere. If you are looking for genuine hospitality and a great local experience, I highly recommend staying here!
Manel is very helpful with organizing the tours. Very clean room.
Absolutely everything value for money clean food very tasty and most of all Manel and his wife who went above and beyond when it came to ice and balm for my sprained ankle
Nothing !!!
Tout était vraiment super sympa ! Nous recommandons
RIEN
Nice guesthouse in a quiet neighbourhood, 15 min walking from the town centre. Good choices of breakfast, lunch and dinner. Organizes tours, motorbikes for rent, etc.
Bought transport to Kratie for $10 pp. We were cramped in a 16 seat minivan with total 24 persons, 2 motorbikes and Lots of luggage and parcels. Next time I use Vireak Buntham Express.
Hi
A lovely welcoming home away from home. Food was delicious, Manel and his lovely family, took care of us. The facility was super clean, simply furnished.
Not really complaints. It is on the outskirts of town and the shower is nice and hot but wets the whole bathroom. 🤪
We had a good time at Manel Guesthouse. The room was clean and comfortable. Location is not in the center but you can easily walk (15-20min) or take a tuk tuk there. Manel was really helpful in arranging tour and transportation.
The mattress was a bit hard, but for a few nights it was really ok
Manel is such a kind-hearted host who truly made us feel at home. Even though we stayed only one night, the attention and care were exceptional. So humble, warm, and genuinely concerned that we were comfortable - we really appreciated it!
That we had veryvlittle time there.
Convenient and helpful family run guesthouse. The food they served in the restaurant was great; I ate there all three nights in was there. The larb is delicious! You can book tours and rent bikes. I'd already booked my elephant tour directly with EVP, though. The dorm is comy, with a number of fans helping with air circulation, as well as a red light in addition to regular ones, which is a good idea for low-disturbance lighting in a dorm .
Manel guesthouse is really nice place to stay ! We arrived for one night but stayed more as we loved the place. The place is clean with a really good atmosphere. The room was perfect with everything you need. We understand why this guesthouse has good reviews, Manel is so nice (and his family) and helpful for everything you need. He helped us with our money issues, share his meal, explain us some stuff and answer every questions we had etc Also the food from the restaurant was super good! You’re not in a “city center” but it’s worth to stay there. Thank you !
Nice to have a private room and bathroom at a decent price! With AC and a mosquito net. I liked it. No windows though!
A bit empty but i guess it was the season and a bit far from the center as well!
We liked most everything. We did not eat at the restaurant so we are not able to comment on the food or restaurant.
The only suggestion I would have for future construction is that we like to have a shower curtain or a separate area for the shower so the whole bathroom does not get wet when one takes a shower. We realize of course that would cost more money because the bathroom was not large. But we were happy with the bathroom for the most part.
A clean and comfortable guesthouse with delicious food . The family is very kind and helpful with arranging tours and busses for onward travel. I will definitely stay here again!
Everything was great
Lovely spot run by a lovely family. Food was great, and I appreciated the tour tips. Private room is nice and cool, and it's a relatively easy spot to get to. I enjoyed my stay a great deal.
Not a lot of natural light in the private rooms, can't be helped, and there is a lovely balcony to spend time on.
I booked for 1 night stayed for 3. Manel was so welcoming and arranged fab tour for me in Sen Monorom. The food was also delicious from breakfast to dinner.
I had a private room with private toilet. The room was spacious and clean, but without a window. That was not a problem, as the accomodation has a large and nice common space, as a covered terrace at the back of the building. I stayed here 3 nights, and I enjoyed the company of other travelers and the good food cooked in the kitchen. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner
Excellent choice for a budget stay if you're visiting Mondulkiri. Basic accommodation but comfortable bed, A/C, fan & shower. Walking distance to centre of the village for restaurants etc.
Lovely guesthouse run by Manel and his family. The whole family is very welcoming and polite. Manuel was very helpful in providing advice on places to visit in the area. They have a restaurant which offers great food from breakfast to dinner, everything was delicious. Must try: the coffee! It’s from a local coffee plantation in Mondulkiri and it’s hands down (one of) the best coffees I ever had. We had a private room which was spacious, comfortable bed and a/c. The a/c is almost not needed, as it’s a bit cooler than Siem Reap and other places, in the early morning we were most comfortable wearing a long sleeve shirt or thin jacket. Very quiet area to relax in their hammocks, read a book, play games or plan the next steps on your trip. Would return anytime and highly recommend.
Nothing
We spend 2 nights in Manel's guesthouse. Manel ( the owner ) is a very pleasant and helpfull person and treaths you as welcoming customers!!. Thanks to Manel and his staf. We like to recommend his guesthouse for every tourist who visit Mundolkiri. Again thanks Manel and nice to meet you.
Nothing to mention.
We stayed in a couple of well rated places in Saen Monourom, this was far superior. The food was fantastic and reasonably priced. The room was clean and had good AC. Very friendly cats too. Manel is great and helped us book transport straight up to Laos. He stayed in contact the whole time over WhatsApp to make sure we didn’t have any problems with the connections.
In our room there was no natural light as there was a brick wall directly opposite the window. But luckily the common areas are really nice. Hammocks too.
Manel is extremely helpful, and his family too. The private rooms were great value for money. He offers many things (rental, excursions) which at time felt a little pressured, but he was always helping me in whatever he could, regardless of where I booked.
It was a little bit far out (20 min walk to central area). If you're happy always eating at Manels, that's no problem, but I like lots of changes in scenery too
Clean rooms, really nice local food. I felt welcomed at all times. You can book your bike and get advice from Manel about places to visit.
Manel and his wife were lovely people, nothing was too much trouble, always there for every guest. Breakfast was good, location was good. Best motorcycles in Asia, really well looked after and a pleasure to ride.
Rooms are on the basic side but still comfortable.
Thank you so much Manel for making our stay in Mondulkiri such an amazing experience!!! Dealing everything for us from tuk tuk driver for the day, to day trip to see the elephants and bus back to Phnom Penh was a true weight off my mind and meant I just had to enjoy my last days in Cambodia with my daughter. Thank you again for beeing such a lovely person. Kisses to your family. Take care!
Manel was very friendly and helpful, I really enjoyed staying at his guesthouse. Very quiet and peaceful. His wife is an excellent cooker!
Manel is an incredibly accommodating and hospitable host. Arriving at his guest house is easy, and you are greeted with a big smile, plenty of information, and kindness. You can rent a motorbike, book a tour to see elephants or gibbons, or simply relax in the hammocks in the yard. Manel even helped me soothe my cough with a delightful hot lemonade made with ginger and honey. We truly had a wonderful time. Additionally, his wife is an excellent cook. We didn't need to go anywhere else for meals, as the restaurant offers a great variety to choose from.
Comfortable rooms. Manel was very helpful with booking tours and onward travel. The food was great, we were even able to order a very early breakfast before a long travel day which we really appreciated.
Manel is an amazing host, he really cares about you having a good time. He provides great recommendations and is very helpful. Thanks Manel for this beautiful experience in Senmonorom!
Manel and the other staff were exceptionally friendly, welcoming and helpful. He really went out of his way to accommodate my requests. The porch at the back is a nice space to relax and/or do some work with a lovely view over the garden. Food was good, especially the pancakes.
No natural light in the room, but the space at the back more than made up for it.
Manel was the kindest host. I hadn’t realised that the dorm room was only two beds and as a solo female traveller I felt a little uncomfortable that the other person in the dorm was a middle aged man. I asked if there was another room to move to and Manel kindly moved me, really understanding when it was my mistake for not reading the information properly. The location was good- easy to get around by motorbike or tuk tuk. The property was clean and the food was delicious
Very friendly place with good facilities.
Can get cold at night time but can provide blankets.
I had a fantastic stay at Manel’s Guesthouse! It was everything that I look for as a solo traveler. Manel and his family were very welcoming, the rooms were simple and clean and had everything that I needed. They were a great value for the money! They had a restaurant on the property that served breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and the food was delicious for very reasonable prices. Manel speaks excellent English and had lots of good advice for tours and booking buses to your next destination. Manel always went out of his way to anticipate guests needs, like offering to allow me to store my big bag when going for an overnight trek. I felt very safe staying at this property, and met lots of other solo travelers!
Nothing, it was as advertised!
What a warm welcome! The rooms at Manel GH are fine, but what really sets it apart is the owner, Manel. Manel always smiles and greets you by your first name every morning. He makes you feel at home. Always available, if you wish, Manel will suggest activities (trekking, motorbike) without pushing you. He's accommodating and things are easy with him. You'll feel at ease.
The owners are very friendly and very helpful. I really felt part of a family during my short stay. My room didn’t have a window but that doesn’t matter as there is a lovely terrace with hammocks. Long family dining table, enabled solo travellers to chat easily to others
I’d have liked a window but was out most of time and accept this comes with low cost of room
Everything was perfect! Manel and his family are extremely kind!
I only stayed for one night, so I can’t say much, but it’s an affordable place with very helpful staff. The water stopped while I was showering due to a burst pipe outside, but the team worked hard to fix the issue quickly.
