Emplacement incroyable directement sur une plage paradisiaque et sans personne, à part quelques surfeurs. Le restaurant de l’hôtel est très bon et très bon rapport qualité prix. Lieu paisible au milieu des cocotiers et en pleine nature.

Nous savions que nous serions dans une cabane rustique néanmoins les draps étaient très usés et tachés, les rideaux et la moustiquaire étaient déchirés. Ménage moyen.

Location. Location. Location. Just loved getting out of the hustle of Arugam Bay and to a beautiful, peaceful little surf spot. Stunning views. Remote, nothing else around, very few people, really great to connect and meet other guests and relax in nature. A very cool jungle vibe, beautiful natural environment, all spread out and some privacy for each room. Also great local restaurant to chill and eat and socialise. Very well priced food.

It’s a stunning place and my favourite location, I loved being here but just a couple of little things that made it a little bit less enjoyable. Maybe I had too high expectations from reviews about the friendly staff, but when I arrived I was barely acknowledged and had to wait a long time before I was shown to my room and I was given no other information about the property, where the toilets and showers were, how the restaurant worked etc. then often when I asked about something I felt quite patronised that I needed to know more. Just a bit of a funny attitude. In the dorm there was no sheet or anything on my bed, and the toilet paper would run out and not be replaced. Nothing major or awful, it was manageable and I don’t expect luxury, but nice to at least have the basics covered. Also note it’s very open to the elements, so lots of bugs and creatures around (cockroaches, snakes etc.), if this is something that will be bother you, be aware.

The staff, the location, nature, quiet and beautifull. Internet pretty good (only in restaurant area).

It was amazing. The location, the beach, the food, the owners, other guests…it was all fantastic. We had a very good time there and definitely recommend going there. We miss this place already.

We booked and then there was no availability. Disappearing when you travel a long way to come.

A little paradise with wonderful people and lovely atmosphere. Very chill vibes, great staff and delicious food. In front of you there is the ocean and two spots that greatly work for surf in the morning

Everything except maybe the bathroom I. The dormatory! 😂 For this experience who cares about a broken toilet seat and a lack of paper! It was a highlight of my trip to stay and surf here. I am sure I'll be back!

Nice location & view.

One staff member made me feel quite uncomfortable as a solo female traveller. He made comments about the shirt I was wearing and would often stand by my table when there wasn't much to do, which felt intrusive. I also witnessed him giving another female guest a massage while another staff member filmed it. Although she appeared to be trying to be polite and accepting, I personally found the interaction inappropriate in that setting. As a solo traveller, it left me feeling self conscious and less at ease spending time there.

Mosquito nets do need replacing- accomodation are basic huts so not for people that want aircon/ large beds etc. All the amazing benefits far outweighed this for our group.

Das Essen dort ist super günstig und lecker. Außerdem ist die Lage einfach traumhaft, Ruhe und Strand pur. Die Besitzer sind alle super lieb.

Wer einen unberührten Strand, einfache Bambushütten, ausgezeichnete lokale Küche und wunderschönen Sternenhimmel sucht, ist hier richtig.

Very unconfortable beds and the fan far to weak, it didn't make any air at all, just noisy.

Absolutely beautiful!! Stunning location, right on the beach. Laid back, friendly atmosphere. Great food (good value, too). Nothing to do but surf (if you can - not for beginners, and they didn't have boards for us to hire), swim and relax. Just gorgeous!

We didn't mind at all and loved the simplicity but, as others have said, know that you are clise to nature with no creature comforts!

Een leuk idyllisch huisje op palen gelegen aan het strand in het groen. Iedere avond super lekker eten, iedere ochtend prachtige zonsopgangen en een goed ontbijt.

De huisjes en bedden zijn vies en niet opgemaakt, je krijgt alleen als je er om vraagt een laken om onder te liggen en een (vies ruikende) handdoek. Geen hoeslaken of kussensloop. Dat er kikkers in de buitenbadkamer zitten is logisch, eekhoorntjes in je huisje komen als je de ramen openlaat ook, maar dat ze het huisje nooit lijken schoon te maken en geen schoon beddegoed op de bedden hebben is zonde.

Tolles Ambiente und tolle Lage mit schönem Strand, ein gemütliches Restaurant und viele Chillmöglichkeiten. Achtung: Die Affen verschaffen sich Zugang zur Cabana und Kleider von uns wurden von Tieren durchlöchert. Immer Rucksäcke schliessen und alles im Schrank verstauen.

Die Cabana die wir für drei Nächte hatten, war schmuddelig und nicht einladend. Ungepflegt, defekt, dreckig. Zudem kommt der schlechte Geruch der Toilette. Wir haben uns in der Cabana nicht wirklich wohl gefühlt.

It was so amazing to be right on the beach! The waves were amazing and the beach was so private, we could watch the sunrise and sunset from our little villa, it felt like paradise.

There were frogs all over the bathroom and the bedroom hanging out in groups, if you’re nature lover it’ll be a plus but for me it was a bit frightening. However it’s only a small issue at such a lovely location. The restaurant is a bit pricier than other Sri Lankan places but there’s no other food places for miles.

It was one of the best decision to sto at lighthouse in komari. It’s just a heaven. I slept in a hut right in front of the ocean, I could see the sunrise from my bed

Everything was just perfect. You should be aware that you sleep in nature, and you hut is open: especially during the night, some animals come to visit. You should be ok with that and understand that it’s also part of the experience

I can’t recommend this place highly enough. The treehouses are absolutely stunning—beautifully designed with incredible attention to detail. I was genuinely amazed by the thoughtful infrastructure and layout. The staff go above and beyond to make your stay as relaxing and enjoyable as possible. There’s such a warm, wholesome energy throughout the entire place. The food is another highlight. I especially recommend the Sri Lankan breakfast—absolutely delicious! If buffets aren’t your thing, no worries—you can easily order from the menu instead. And to top it all off, the location is unbeatable. You can check the surf right from your doorstep, with the beach just steps away.

Beautiful place! peaceful, clean, and with a super harmonious vibe! The rooms are spacious. The owner is amazing! Always willing to help. On my last day, I had to check out at 6 a.m., and he offered to make me breakfast even though it usually starts at 7. The location is very strategic ! just 15 minutes from Adam’s Peak, 15 from the Nine Arches, and 15 from town. You can truly breathe in the freshness of Ella!

The location was great, and the food in the restaurant was really good.

This was the worst nights sleep I had in years. The dorm room was filthy, no air con, the fans on the ceiling barely worked and only just blew hot air around. The was one super rusty fan for 6 people, which burst into 100 pieces when I touched it and tried to move it. The room was full of cockroaches, frogs, and dead frogs laying next to the beds. No WiFi, and on top of that, no plugs in the rooms so that my phone died during the night. Staff seemed bothered with a lot of my questions, like asking for WiFi etc

Basic Cabanas are open, sometimes monkey and bugs can enter the room. Its living with nature however 😁

This place is in a quiet location, perfect for staying or visiting for a few days. Each guest has a a standalone room with bathroom so you have lots of privacy and shade amongst the LOTS of palm trees. It’s like your very own treehouse!!!! There is a surf point out the front - ‘Lighthouse’. We are here in May and it has been working well. Unsure about the rest of the year. For a surf trip, it is absolute perfection. Staff are really friendly, the food is great and affordable, accommodation is affordable and it is beautiful here. Highly recommend.

Access to a shop

If you want to be away from the crowds with a very chilled out atmosphere, then this is THE place. The cabins are rustic and simple but right in front of the beach. There are different categories at different prices, but they all have the basics and are comfy. You get to sleep hearing the waves breaking! Since they are quite far away from everything (and the closest village is not so big) they offer really good food in their restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The staff are very friendly and do a great job. The Sri Lankan breakfast is the absolute best! If you don't have your own surfboard, I'd recommend renting one in Arugam bay since you will find a better selection and prices than what they have to offer there. I regret not having stay longer! Maybe next time, thank you!!

This is an idyllic place to stay, located right next to the beach in a palm forest. The accomodation is simple wooden cabanas with good fans. We loved it here and would definitely come back!

Amazing location, very calm and two surf spots with a small lineup are directly in front of it. The food is very good and the staff friendly and helpful. Perfect location to escape the hassle of Arugambay.

Be aware that the huts are not closed. You share your place with the other forest inhabitants like frogs, squirrles and lizards. If you don't mind, you will enjoy it here. But we've slept on much more comfortable beds at other places (especially if you are larger than 1.80 m). Some investment in new mattresses would improve the place a lot.

I really like to stay here, location is amazing, right in front of the beach, quiet and perfect place for relaxing. Also surf spot is walking distance, and won’t get busy as Arugam bay, that’s a bonus! There is restaurant in the facility, I really liked Daily special menu for lunch and dinner, price is affordable as well.

Dorm is pretty basic, they didn’t collect the rubbish for a while could be better if they can do more cleanup

Lighthouse beach hut is paradise on earth. The whole property was built with so much love which makes it an incredibly beautiful and unique home far away from home. The beach is empty, the waves are pumping and the staff treats you like family. I had an accident during my stay and couldn’t be more happy how Kuna and the rest of the team took care of me and helped me out wherever they could. Thank you for everything!

The staff were extremely friendly. The property is right on the beach. Our stay here was unique and we couldn’t recommend it enough!

It’s a prime spot. Being able to walk around barefoot the whole day, just stepping on sand is amazing. We were there with our dog Lucky and he was off leash most of the time. The only time when he was not was near the restaurant area as the place also has 3 dogs. But other than that, we were on the far end and Lucky enjoyed his freedom a lot. Cell signal is choppy which is great if you want to disconnect and just CHILL. Under the hut there is a small space with concrete where I practiced yoga, a hammock and a table with 2 chairs - loved it.

It can be a little bit better taken care of (huts and bathroom).

You are in the forrest so it comes with all the life, just so you know there are gonna be a bunch of bugs.

The location is amazing, so picturesque and quiet right next to the surf spots. The beach hut itself was beautiful and quite clean, had an outdoor shower which was amazing. Food was nice if a little expensive.

The staff didn’t make us feel super welcome when we arrived. They also did not warn us of animals coming into the room if you left windows open and food out overnight and our bags got ransacked and eaten through! Also I got eaten alive by sand flies overnight so did not have the comfiest stay, but it’s right on the beach so I guess cannot be helped!

Beautiful and quite little beach, Basic accommodation but very comfortable. The restaurant is great and not at all expensive. And the best part is the crew, nice and friendly. Enjoyed my stay here very much and would recommend it to anyone looking for peace and quiet in their vacation.

Lighthouse is an oasis of quiet nights, waves, really good food. An escape from the madness of ABay. Keep in mind that there aren't many options for board rental so bring your own. The staff are so helpful and welcoming. Stay as long as you can!

Great food - very tasty, plentiful, and reasonably priced for an isolated location. Best chicken Kottu in our 2 month trip. Very lovely staff. Bungalows spread out through a coconut grove, giving lots of privacy. Quirky.

We arrived early and were happy to wait . They gave us our room immediately (different to the pictures), and the bedding was gritty and had some dead bugs on it. The bungalow we had was not very weatherproof, so when we had a stormy afternoon, we ended up with lots of leaves and dirt blown, in as well as lots of fine rain. There was no where sheltered outside for us to sit, and the windows were opaque, so we spent the afternoon in the dark bungalow (as the power also went). I'm sure it was just bad timing and would be lovely on a nicer day.

it’s really hard to adequately explain this place. we visited out of season and it’s probably as close as you will get to the perfect “I want to be on a deserted beach, but I need WiFi, electric, some one to cook for me and a cold beer from time to time” that you will get. rammed full of surfers during the ‘season’ we almost had the place to ourself. the sea, sadly is a bit rough for swimming but that’s it, nothing to complain about.

Everything. Miles of empty beaches. Collection of unique beach huts. All the guys working are really lovely and kind people. Delicious banana porridge. Lifts to the local shop or into Potuvil when they can. Beautiful sunsets from the hut. Brand new mosquito nets. This really was exactly what I needed and was looking for. If you want to feel like you’re away from the hustle and bustle, where the staff are always there for you but respect your need to peace and quiet then this really is the place.

There is nothing to not like.

The huts are located in a paradise like garden of coconut trees and other trees directly on the beach. The area is massive. Like 2 footfall fields, so usually at least 100m space between the huts. They all have a different construction style and beautifully made, but they are all very basic and also similar in what they offer. I had one with own bathroom, which is always outside of the basic cabin or hut. The bed was comfortable (although thin SL style mattress, but still good condition). As you are quite isolate, you probably will get all your food from them and you won’t regret it. The breakfast includes all styles like fruit bowl with curd or the best avocado, egg toast in SL, traditional or just pancakes of omelette. They even offer real espresso from an espresso pot or filtered coffee. And the dinner is really good as well. This is also the ideal time to socialize with all the other guests as they offer a set dinner that changes every day and every one comes together. But in case you don’t like the set dinner, you could always order a la carte as well.

There is not much to complain. It was perfect there. People just should be aware that the huts are very basic. So mainly just basic wooden construction, no paint or decoration and animals can enter. The mosquito net already hay many holes, but there are almost no mosquitoes anyway.

This is a very special place. So beautiful and peaceful with plenty of space to chill and enjoy being in nature, but if you want to be social you can just hang out in the restaurant and meet lots of smiling happy people (at least in the high season). A beautiful beach and two surf breaks right in front. We couldn't ask for more.
