The room was not really clean, there were ants, spiders, mini “dinozaours”, on the curtains around the bed was dust, the walls are dietz, room was dark and doors were old. I recommend also to bring your shampoo and shower gel. The chairs upfront of the house were not really invitable. It is ok for two nights and spending time on the beach.

Reviewed Sep 10, 2026Heerlijk relaxte omgeving om een paar dagen van zee,strand en rust te genieten. Huisje was prima. We hadden de klamboe er wel bij nodig ivm vliegjes ect. Badkamer was netjes. Ontbijt was prima. Lunch etc was er niet, maar er zijn genoeg gezellige strandtentjes in de nabije omgeving. Ligbedjes aan het strand waren erg fijn, en het strand en de zee zijn echt geweldig. Wij zouden er zeker weer heen gaan.

Reviewed Sep 5, 2026Cet hôtel est très bien situé sur la plage de Nilaveli, avec un accès direct à la plage avec des transats prévus à cet effet. Plage propre et les cabanes sont très mignonnes.
Le personnel n’a pas été très accueillant. On les a cherché tout le long de notre séjour, et pas de repas du soir organisé ni aucune informations sur les heures de petit déjeuner etc. Chambre assez propre mais la salle de bain est mal équipée- pas de gel douche etc.

Reviewed Sep 5, 2026Die sehr ruhige Lage am Meer ist prima. Den Strand hat man mit mehreren eigenen Liegen fast für sich allein. Wir wussten vorher, wie weit Trincomalee und Restaurants entfernt sind. Der Bungalow hatte alles was wir brauchten. Vor Allem hatte das Bett ein Moskitonetz, was diesen Namen auch verdient hatte. Es war groß genug und störte nicht beim Schlafen, wie in einigen anderen Unterkünften. Das Engagement der Familie hat uns auch gefallen. Die über die Unterkunft gebuchte Schnorcheltour haben wir gleich 2 mal gemacht. Danke Selva, für die gut organisierten Ausflüge.
Die Klimaanlage ist schon recht laut, da veraltet. Vielleicht noch als Hinweis: Das Licht konnte man nicht vom Bett bedienen.

Reviewed Aug 30, 2026Un paradiso sul mare. Sia la villa che le cabanas sono tra il verde del giardino con le palme alla spiaggia bianca con il mare cristallino. Sembra di stare su un’isola deserta e la struttura offre dei lettini molto comodi con cuscino (a differenza delle spiagge di trincomalee). Lo staff è stato accogliente e ci ha accontentato in ogni richiesta procurandoci anche uno scooter.
La struttura è suggestiva e potrebbe diventare un vero paradiso qualora la pulizia venga migliorata. Trovandosi in mezzo la natura la presenza di animali e insetti è frequente, anche nelle cabanas. Il letto offre una zanzariera completa ma è stato faticoso trovare in continuazione insetti e formiche. In ogni caso abbiamo chiesto alla struttura di dare una maggiore pulita e ci hanno accontentato. La camera però, è stata rifatta solo su richiesta e il letto non è stato rifatto nessuno dei tre giorni.

Reviewed Aug 8, 2026La ubicación era increíble, a pocos pasos de una playa sin apenas gente. El dueño nos ayudó en todo lo posible, adaptando la comida sin gluten del desayuno para mi mujer. La cama era comodisima y la cabaña es muy amplia con toallas para la playa.
Se notaba que algunas cosas estaban ya viejas y necesitaban una renovación, pero no afecta a la experiencia global.

Reviewed Aug 2, 2026Tolle Lage direkt am Meer, perfekt für ein Badeurlaub mit der Familie und für Ruhesuchende, wir waren fast alleine an dem wirklich schönen Strand! Die Unterkunft ist schlicht, sauber und gepflegt und die Gastgeber haben für uns alles arrangiert, vielen Dank nochmals dafür! Wenn ihr Essen gehen wollt, empfehle ich das nahegelegene Restaurant Aara Heritage kitchen, welches noch relativ neu ist. Des weiteren empfehle ich Euch dringend die Tour nach Pigeon Island- und diese dann über das Hotel buchen!! Ein alter, sehr erfahrener Tauchguide arbeitet seit mehreren Jahren für das Hotel und hat uns (absolute Anfänger) direkt an die Hand genommen und uns gezeigt, wie der Hase läuft, dafür sind wir noch im nachhinein sehr dankbar, weil wir anschließend auf den Malediven somit direkt angstfrei vom Boot ins Meer springen konnten. DANKE DANKE DANKE :-)

Reviewed Jul 18, 2026The cabanas were beautifully presented, clean and very comfortable king sized bed. Mini fridge, hairdryer and all of the essentials you would need for a relaxing stay. Amal and his family were welcoming and catered to all of our needs, we couldn’t have wished for a more peaceful stay. The beach at this property is pristine and pure paradise.

De huisjes zijn oud & aan een opfrissing toe. Ontvangst was minder hartelijk dan in de rest van Sri Lanka en de airco maakt zoveel lawaai dat we geen oog dicht hebben gedaan.

The room was in a very poor condition on arrival, with visible black mold (even inside the mini fridge), dust, lizard droppings, old dusty cupboards, and a dirty, poorly maintained bathroom. The overall cleanliness of the property was unacceptable, and even the restaurant looked unhygienic. Charging guests for drinking water was also disappointing, at least one complimentary bottle per guest per day should be standard at a hotel in this price range. We were also told beach towels are replaced only once every three days, and a few staff members mocked our request for fresh towels instead of handling it professionally. Although not all staff were rude, the attitude of a few employees made us feel unwelcome. Overall, the hotel was poorly maintained and offered very poor value for money.

The location is absolutely stunning, right on a beautiful beach – the perfect place to relax. The food was delicious, always fresh, and one of the highlights of our stay. Everyone was extremely friendly, helpful, and attentive, making our experience even more enjoyable. We truly felt well taken care of and can highly recommend staying here. Thank you, Amal and the entire team, for an unforgettable stay. We would love to come back!

Reviewed Jun 29, 2026The perfect escape from civilization! There are only three cottages, so not a single extra soul around. The ocean feels almost private – no tourist crowds, just the sound of the surf and the wind. The beach is well-maintained, and there are enough sunbeds and hammocks for all guests, so you can simply relax and watch the sunset. A special thank you to the villa owner – a warm and welcoming person who creates an atmosphere of total relaxation without being intrusive at all. I'll definitely be back!

Reviewed May 28, 2026Amal hat uns sehr freundlich empfangen. Das Gelände ist traumhaft mit direktem Strandzugang und auch die Möbel wirken hochwertig.
Einziges Manko: die Sauberkeit. Die Amaturen im Bad sowie die Toilettenschüssel sind stark verfärbt / haben deutliche Ablagerungen. Hier müsste man einfach einmal ordentlich putzen und die Cabanas wären eine glatte 10. Außerdem hat unser Kühlschrank gerochen und nicht richtig funktioniert, was uns jedoch nicht beeinträchtigt hat.

Very quiet and relaxing, with low key bars and restaurants along the gorgeous beach. We also had dinner at the cabanas which was lovely too. Very kind and helpful hosts.

Reviewed May 8, 2026Le lieu est calme et reposant. La végétation est très belle et on est dans un petit coin idyllique. Le personnel est très gentil et avenant. Vous avez un accès direct à la plage qui est magnifique avec des transats confortables et des hamacs. De plus, Amal cuisine très bien. Nous avons pris pour notre dernier soir un barbecue fruits de mer et c’était excellent. Le poisson était énorme et tout était bien cuisiné. Nous avions également demandé à avoir un petit déjeuner Sri Lankais qui était divin (il faut en faire la demande et c’est hors forfait mais pas cher). Nous nous sommes régalés. Aussi, l’hôtel est bien situé à proximité de pas mal de petits restaurants aux alentours. Amal est un hôte exceptionnel.
Il manque l’aération dans la salle de bain.

You step out of the house, immersed in the peace of nature, and you find yourself on one of the most beautiful beaches in the surroundings. As much as the beach is public, you can practically only access it from the hotel, giving it a sense of privacy. Also, you have your own sunbeds!! :) If you have your own vehicle, you can easliy park it, there is plenty of space. Great location for surrounding activities, but truly staying at the cabana/beach was the highlight of our stay. Would love to go there again :)

Reviewed Apr 16, 2026Die Lage am Traumstrand ist einfach super. Man fühlt sich wie im Paradies. Es gibt vor den Cabanas sogar Fußduschen und eine Dusche am Strand. Auch Liegen sind ausreichend mit großem Tisch am feinen Sandstrand. Amal, der Owner, kümmert sich um alles und kocht auch sehr lecker. Wir konnten auch sein Kajak benutzen. Am Neujahrstag lud er uns zu seiner Familie zum traditionellen Milchreisessen ein. Wir hätten gern noch verlängert. Das ging jedoch nicht, weil alles ausgebucht war.

Reviewed Mar 10, 2026- Die Lage direkt am Meer in Kombination mit dem gepflegten Grundstück. - Der Service der in keinsterweise aufdringlich war. Sehr angenehm. - Der schöne Strand vor dem Hotel (weniger zum schnorcheln geeignet bzw. konnte ich nichts entdecken) mit Liegen und Schattenplätzen. - Kostenfreie Handtücher für den Strand. - Gute Möglichkeit um Sonnenaufgänge über dem Meer zu bestaunen. - Dusche mit warmen Wasser sowie Zimmer mit Moskitoschutz. - Viele Restaurants in der Umgebung und gut mit Mietwagen zu erreichen. Der wird auch empfohlen. Hinweis: Für die Steckdosen werden entsprechende Stecker für den deutschen Standard benötigt.
- WLAN stand in mäßiger Qualität zur Verfügung (ging Mal besser, Mal etwas schlechter in Bezug auf Videos schauen). - Das Badezimmer wies einen undefinierbaren muffig anmutenden Geruch auf, der für uns sehr streng war. - Handtüchern auch Handtücher für den Strand kostenfrei zur Verfügung gestellt werden. - Eine Reinigung erfolgt erst nach drei Tagen. Demgemäß wird auch der Müll nur alle drei Tage entfernt. Dies könnte für mich öfter sein.

Reviewed Sep 13, 2025Villa Nilaveli Cabana bevind zich echt op een geweldige locatie! Je komt hier echt tot rust. Een tip van ons is om via het hotel een scooter te huren. Dit heeft ons 3.000 LKR per dag gekost. Hierdoor hebben we ook voldoende van de omgeving kunnen zien.
De badkamer had geen airco, echter was dit maar een klein puntje.

La colazione è un po’ essenziale e la struttura non offre alcun tipo di pasto. Ci sono ristoranti abbastanza vicini, raggiungibili dalla spiaggia, ma sarebbe più comodo avere anche l’opzione di mangiare in loco.

The location is incredible, with a private beach just 40m away - perfect for a relaxing holiday. The staff were extremely friendly and always ready to help, which made us feel very welcome. Breakfast was also delicious! We truly recommend this place and would have loved to stay longer if we had more days.

Pour aider les voyageurs je recommande une alternative à pigeon Island … prenez l école de plongée diversland (sur la plage à 500 m à gauche) ! Ils sont hyper gentils et nous ont emmenés sur un autre site où nous avons vu des tonnes de poissons en s évitant le monde et le tarif exorbitant !

Le camere sono essenziali ma pulite, il proprietario è molto disponibile e su richiesta del giorno prima ci ha organizzato un bbq di pesce in spiaggia solo per noi, indimenticabile. Ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo.
delle aree di miglioramento sono la colazione senza molta scelta, la mancanza di prodotti da bagno e le sedie di plastica in camera, ma sono minuzie!

They didn’t have a spare bed for our son. He slept on a mattress on the floor. There was some miscommunication about a bbq on our second night and we were a little disappointed to miss out as we would have loved to try this out.

Reviewed Aug 8, 2025Prachtig gelegen in een mooie tuin vlakbij het strand. De cabana’s zijn goed uitgerust met airco, een ijskastje en een goeie douche. Er zijn twee goeie (hoewel relatief dure) restaurants vlakbij (Leo’s café en That’s why). Fruitstalletjes en kruideniers zijn op 20 minuten loopafstand. Wij gingen duiken met Pearl Divers (tip: vraag naar de Belgische Aline Rens) wat echt een aanrader is!
De laatste dag van ons verblijf kwamen er 50 tieners (2 klassen van de school van de dochter des huizes) naar het privéstrand. Dat drukte voor ons behoorlijk de pret. Zij palmden ook de ligstoelen en hangmatten in, hadden muziek bij en bleven de hele dag aanwezig. Wij voelden ons erg bekeken.

Reviewed Jul 13, 2025Die Bungalows sind großzügig gestaltet und sehr schön eingerichtet. Die Dusche war die beste unserer ganzen Reise durch Sri Lanka. Eingebettet sind die Häusschen in einen sehr schönen Garten, in dem wir uns sehr gerne aufgehalten haben. Hier bekommt man unter einem Dach auch das Essen. Der Strand schließt sich direkt an den Garten an. Hier stehen unter Palmen die Strandliegen, die zu der Anlage gehören, auch ein paar Hängematten gibt es. Der Vermieter ist überaus freundlich und berät einen auch gerne bezüglich Aktivitäten.

Reviewed Jul 12, 2025Die Lage ist super schön. Der Strand vor der Türe ist wirklich schön. Es war sehr ruhig und man konnte sehr gut entspannen. Das Restaurant am Strand hat den Abend perfekt gemacht.

Reviewed Jul 9, 2025Тишина, красота, красивый пляж без толпы туристов. Рай на земле. Хозяин отзывчивый. Готовил нам лобстеров и крабов, что мы купили на рынке. Можно заказать массаж, прямо на берегу. В пешей доступности дайвинг центр(снорклинг, дайвинг, киты, рыбалка). Справа в 200 метрах бар с классными коктейлями и музыкой. Все замечательно. Не хочется уезжать.
Одного полотенца для душа маловато на 4 дня. Двери в ванную комнату закрываются автоматически, тяжело открывать. Но это не принципиально.

Reviewed Jun 22, 2025The cabanas are comfortable and spacious and while not directly facing the beach in a beautiful tropical garden with a large patch of grass leading onto the beach. The location is within walking distance of restaurants, bars and diving companies. The staff, in particular Amal, is a real gem, helpful in assisting with transportation or arranging diving trips. There are hammocks and loungers right on the beach.
Unfortunately, there is no pool, which would have really made this place unbeatable.

Reviewed Jun 18, 2025On a nice beach albeit very quiet.
Done lots of travel over the years on varying budgets. This is my first negative review. Hosts are nice enough when you get to see them but little overall hospitality offered in comparison to all other stays in Sri Lanka. No fresh water at all in room, Father and son were not around after check-in to get water, drinks, food etc on first day, a single sized top sheet left folded on queen bed, no other coverings, no use for two people, main light flickering constantly - non English speaking staff couldn’t resolve, no one else around. Rooms are very dark, all windows opaque. They were kind enough to allow us to check out after just one night without penalty which we really appreciated. I know they have lots of great reviews, the beach location is great ( though very quiet) but in a country that provides great accommodation at relatively good prices these guys are taking too many shortcuts for the price charged and seem to take the guests for granted. Probably fine for younger folks with lower expectations happy to be fully self sufficient not that it’s easy to be so there without transport. If you’ve over 35, I would suggest choose elsewhere. I can only think there are many negative reviews gone unwritten or perhaps we were just unlucky on this occasion. Moderated that they did allow us to check out three days early without penalty. However reviews are worthless if you can’t be honest about the negatives.

Reviewed Jun 14, 2025Perfecte ligging vlak aan het strand van Nilaveli. Wel slechts zijdelings zicht op het strand. Zeer basic huisjes. Daarom prijs kwaliteit niet echt top. Geen koffie/thee voorzien op de kamer terwijl er wel een waterkoker en tassen staan. Als je naar links gaat op het strand zijn er een paar leuke restaurants op het strand. Perfecte uitvalsbasis om te gaan snorkelen nabij Pigeon Island. We zagen een reuzenschildpad en blacktip sharks naast prachtig koraal en vele gekleurde tropische vissen. Aanrader om te doen.

Reviewed Jun 7, 2025Gorgeous little spot by a quiet beach with a beautiful cabana. Very serene.
A few bars nearby but a 17 minute drive to upavelli with other options so a bit far out the loop and about a half an hour drive to trincomalee. The host was smiley but didn’t really make an effort to help us or offer any advice or suggestions about our stay.
