Check whether the room has AC!

They don't turn on the AC in dorm rooms but charge for the same. The owner is very rude, passed racist remarks and threatened as well. Not Safe.

Comfortable room in a little A-frame with a nice balcony (with hammock). The cabins are all set around a nice social courtyard. Water refill on site which I always like as reduces plastic. Lots of friendly cats around. A few minutes walk to the beach, but far enough back to be very quiet at night.

The location is nice.

The women's dorm smelled like vermin or rat droppings.

Très bien placé, en retrait mais en plein centre. Manque de rangement dans la chambre, rien pour accrocher les affaires. Nous sommes restés une semaine, le ménage a été fait une fois, très bien. Matelas très dur. Matelas une place donné en sus pour notre bébé.

Gecko house is a life style. I was lost in the way but that is absolutely my own fault, I rented a motorbike and wanted to reach the place on my own using google maps so my fate was confirmed. But when I contacted them on booking dot com they instantly replied and guided me and to be very honest I was trying to be adventurous with the map. So since I was near the hostel I reached in two minutes after the guidance. I loved those cats around the setting area.

There is nothing to dislike in this place. For me it was near the beach, the food, the market, and most importantly nearest to the Nature.

The location is great. The gecko guesthouse got the whole jungle chill vibe that I like.

Was a bit dated but I suppose that's what your paying for, bed was super creaky, didn't realise there were cats everywhere, made it hard to eat food

I liked the cats and the chilled out vibe of the place. It was down a quiet back street and had nice wooden furniture and a big outdoor sitting area.

Definitely the worst hostel I stayed it in Malaysia - both for comfort and cleanliness. The dormitory room had a terrible smell to it, no curtains on the beds, no proper power outlets, just plug extenders dangerously Daisy-chained together (serious fire risk). It was a very basic dormitory with no personal power socket, shelf, or reading light as i have come to expect from the high standard of Malaysian hostels. There were also no social activities organised and nothing going on at night. The bathrooms were also very unclean. Luckily I met nice people on the island so I had a great time in Langkawi but I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

Good location, across the road from the beach and restaurants nearby. Stayed in the en-suite double bed room with AC - which we’re glad we opted for as the rooms get hot. Very quiet but was perfect for our few nights.

I like how the stuff were cooperative and nice .

The man who claims he is the boss thought I was a promoter while I was just socializing, he was very rude and even got physical. There are better hostels nearby with a better crowd

There are a lot of cats on this property and they are absolute angels.

The property wasn’t very clean. The staff were pleasant to interact with but somewhat unbothered about everything. The door handles were broken and on my first night there I heard people having conversations outside the room almost all night. Please bring mosquito repellent if you plan to stay here.

La proximité de pleins de centre d’intérêts, le calme de cet endroit.

La chambre n’était pas super propre, il faut revoir le service de nettoyage. La chambre est très très ancienne, ça lui donne un léger charme mais il faudrait rénover au moins la salle de bain qui tombe presque en ruine. On entend tout, c’est dommage de ce faire réveiller par les voisins.

El entorno es genial, muy cerca de la playa y de todo. También hay que decir que las dos primeras noches las cogimos en una habitación con baño compartido y sin aire acondicionado. Solo pudimos superar la primera noche, el calor en la habitación era bastante insoportable. Al dia siguiente hicimos la mejora en uno de sus cabañitas con baño privado y aire acondicionado y ampliamos nuestra estancia 1 semana. Estos cambios ya los realizamos directamente con ellos. Si tienes pensado quedarte unos días, por la diferencia de precio recomiendo las habitaciones con aire acondicionado.

Como critica constructiva solo comentar que la limpieza en los baños puede mejorar (por dar algún ejemplo, quitar los pelos del desagüe de la pica…)

Great location! Great layout and set up. Lots of cats which are all owned by the hostel.

It’s like a ghost town. I had the whole 10 bed dorm to myself which I did not understand as it’s a lovely hostel which a great social area. There are no curtains but nothing a towel can’t fix.

The staff is really cool, and fun to hang out with. We had some fun jam sessions, and got invited to a really cool reggae show on the beach!

The dorm is very uncomfortable. The beds are extremely squeaky, and the air conditioner is quite weak.

Love this hostel and the entire BalokPeople team. I had so much fun here. 16 cats, free drinking water, clean bathroom, comfy beds, peaceful area, great location, easy to go anywhere, very near to the beach. The best part is the staff. We had so much fun together, they invited me to their beach party and we enjoyed alotttt. They went above and beyond to make my stay enjoyable. I already miss boy, lili, our BalokPeople team and the cats. Thank you for making my stay so much fun. 100% recommended.

Gecko Guesthouse is perfect, before finalizing our stay, I spent a lot of time and was very confused on which hotel to stay in Langkawi but I am glad that we chose this. The place is great, we took the deluxe room which was quite big and with a big washroom. It is also at the entrance so no noise at night, actually there was quite less noise anyways. There is also a seating area just outside the room which is very very useful to dry clothes (Do not underestimate the value as everything will be wet). The common area is great too, 6 Ringitt Tiger Beers, 10 Ringitt Cocktails, can't beat it. Also the joy to meet fellow travellers, they also have a sort of barbeque night with live music which is again great. Lots of cats which mind their own business and are great to play with as well. The staff are good and would help you wherever needed. The place is green with a lot of plants. Check In and Check out were a breeze, they do not take any deposit as well. If I visit Langkawi again, I would definitely stay at Gecko. Loved it! Oh and the location is great too, just a 5 minute leisure walk to the beach.

It did not matter to us but there are no windows in the Deluxe Rooms. Also as a suggestion, I think a few simple value add ons would make this place much more value, like a few more hanging hooks, a couple of more chairs, a bigger table and a kettle with some coffee supplies. These are only suggestions, we did just fine without them as well.

Absolutely loved this hostel, one of the best I have stayed in! The staff were lovely and would do anything to help you out and there was a lovely social aspect to the hostel too. The rooms had fans to keep them cool & were clean. I can’t wait to return! Thanks for a great stay☺️

Great place! Very nice place, with a great atmosphere and a short walk from nice restaurants, shopping streets and the sea. We were all family members excited about the place.

Good location and good stay if youre on a budget. There is free water, and you can buy drinks at reception.

Beautiful little bungalow, very comfortable - patio with hammock outside. Cosy common area to hang, very friendly and helpful staff. Great location - close to beach and excellent affordable restaurants and bars. Highly recommend!!

The cats! So cute. The location is very ideal- close to main beach, and many restaurants.

The room wasn't as advertised through booking.com. I was informed upon arrival that the bungalows were full and that there are two types of air con rooms, and that you'd have to request for the bungalow (I dont understand how you would know this in advance). The website should include a statement to clarify. Also the room is extremely basic- it meets hostel standards (only 1 bar small soap). Very very loud at night- people yelling outside room, Mosque next door with 5:30AM prayer. I think its a good option if you are on a tight budget or want a hostel experience.

Läget är bra, en kort promenad till stranden och huvudgatan med alla restauranger. Mysig receptionsarea, om än väldigt lugn.

Hade varit bra med några krokar att hänga kläder på, och framförallt vid tvättfatet att hänga handduken på. Önskade också en lampa över tvättfatet. Ett väldigt enkelt boende, men också billigt så det får man ta med i bedömningen

I don’t get why this place have such a good reviews really…The room had multiple holes so bugs were getting inside all the time, also the walls were so thin we could hear every little noise from outside. We stayed 4 nights and every night people were really loud in the lobby until 2/3am so we couldn’t sleep at all. Staff didn’t seem to care about it. Definitely not a good place to have a relaxing stay, I don’t recommend unless u want to party and not sleep all night. Overall I’m sure you can book something better for this price, here you wont even get a blanket or shampoo.

We had a private room with a bathroom, it was basic but clean. We were greeted on arrival and offered a room spray if we were affected by mosquitoes, which we weren't. The room stayed nice and cool due to good A/C plus a fan. The location was amazing, with a 5-minute walk to the beach and a few minutes' walk to a good, budget-friendly breakfast (not banana leaf). Good vibes. If you love cats this is the place for you and there is a water station which is a nice touch.

When we made our reservation through Booking.com, the description indicated that toiletries would be provided. However, upon our arrival, we discovered only a small hand soap, which we do not consider to be a full set of toiletries. Additionally, we found the Wi-Fi service to be quite slow.

We did really like this property and the general vibe. We liked having our own cabin and the location was really unbeatable - close to the Main Street and Pantai cenang and great parking for scooter etc

Unfortunately we really struggled to sleep due to noise (thin walls) as it’s right near a mosque and the call to prayer woke us up every morning. We did also find the bed to be very hard.

The location is great. It is located a little bit outside the “city center” but that means that there a loads of good budget restaurants around and the beach close to the hostel is not as crowded with jet skis and tourists etc as in the south of Cenang. The outdoor area is nice and offers good opportunities to get in touch with other travelers. Loads of cats lounging around Bicycle rental for 20/MYRday They can give you good advice in rentals and tours Enough showers and bathrooms, we never had to wait

Remember the room doesn’t have AC. We knew this so it’s of course not the hostels fault, but even with the fan it was really quite hot in the room. The room also didn’t have proper windows, at least not ones you could close, so mosquitos could come in at night. We were fine with mosquito spray though.

I had a little wooden bungalow, with own bathroom, porch, hammock, chairs - all simple, but comfortable and clean. Absolutely loved the location (only a short walk to the main street and beach, but away from the business, set in a lovely green location. Lots of cats - all well cared for, neutered, fed. What a pleasure to see those happy kitties and enjoy their company. Very comfy bed, fan, a/c. Quiet, peaceful place. :) Loved my little bungalow and its resident kitty.

Nothing i didn't like. But just to say, there's no facilities to make coffee or tea (but they make you a really good one for 8 ringgit). There is a water dispenser, they provide towels, but no toiletries (apart from a little soap). There's lots of good places to have breakfast / food just a minute to walk away. Great breakfast place opposite the Islamic library.

Presente ampia zona conviviale in cui è facile fare nuove conoscenze con gli altri clienti. È presente un angolo libreria, un fornitore di acqua potabile, lavandino e numerosi tavoli, panche e sedute varie. I bungalow hanno un terrazzino con amaca e sedie. L'ambiente è tranquillo, cordiale e silenzioso. Nella stanza è presente ventilatore e aria condizionata. La struttura è a due passi dal centro, quindi accanto a tutti i servizi

Nella stanza non è presente un frigo. Basterebbero piccoli lavori di manutenzione per rendere i bungalow fantastici 😊

Outside table could be wiped clean. We couldn't sleep without earplugs as there s some weird electrical sound probably from ac.

Great location, short walk to beach at shops. However very close to a temple that has loud ceremonies at 6am so not great for a lay in. The bed was fine and the AC and fan worked well.

Not a clean secure environment, none of the windows shut properly and allowed bugs in throughout the night. The drain in bathroom was just a whole in the wall the let a frog into the room which was not fun.
