Arazo villa

The furniture and floors in hard wood make it very cosy and comfortable. The views from the room really nice to the ocean, trees and stupa temple. Fresh breeze from the sea coming day and night. Bed big and comfortable. Lights warm and nice ambient. Bathroom open to the exterior very practical and great to have a showed in nature. Nice garden in the house + very friendly owner.

Lovely family running a place making feel like visiting relatives, the places is quite steep up the hill - that should be considered for those who can’t do it, for others it’s a perfect daily exercise 👌🏼

Śniadanie choć skromne, podane na ładnej zastawie. Kawa lub herbata do wyboru. Sympatyczna właścicielka oraz jej syn.

Mieszkanie znajdujące się na parterze jest dość ciemne ze względu na rosnące wokół drzewa i krzewy. Niestety lokal wymaga gruntownego remontu. Widać wyraźne zużycie wyposażenia – zarówno mebli, jak i dodatków, takich jak chodniki czy nakrycia stołu. Największym problemem jest łazienka, która sprawia wrażenie bardzo zużytej i wymaga zdecydowanego odświeżenia. Widoczne są ślady wilgoci, zniszczone elementy wyposażenia oraz ogólnie niski standard wykończenia. Dodatkowo po kąpieli woda rozlewa się po całej podłodze. Kratka odpływowa znajduje się po przeciwnej stronie, za toaletą, przez co również przestrzeń wokół WC jest zalana i trudno z niej korzystać, dopóki podłoga nie wyschnie. Wyposażenie mieszkania jest stare i miejscami zaniedbane (np. zużyte dywaniki, stare meble czy instalacje). Również drzwi i elementy metalowe są mocno wyeksploatowane. Dojazd i dojście do domu są utrudnione. Ostatni odcinek prowadzi bardzo stromą drogą, na którą trudno wjechać samochodem, dlatego końcówkę trzeba pokonać pieszo. Śniadanie było raczej skromne i bardzo podstawowe. Podano tosty, masło, dżem, herbatę lub kawę oraz jajko. Były również owoce.(banan i 4 kawałki arbuza). Na plus można zaliczyć spokojną, zieloną okolicę i kontakt z naturą, jednak standard mieszkania zdecydowanie odbiega od tego, czego można się spodziewać po ofercie noclegowej z recenzjami na poziomie 9,0.

Wir haben den Aufenthalt in Arazo villa sehr genossen und sind sogar 2 Nächte länger geblieben. Vor allem der Garten und die großen Bäume rundherum haben uns sehr gut gefallen. Dadurch hatte das Haus eine sehr entspannte Atmosphäre. Manoj und seine Mutter sind gute Gastgeber und das mit Zutaten aus dem Garzen zubereitete Essen ist sehr lecker. Wir würden jederzeit wieder kommen.

Posto molto carino, buona la colazione, stanza abbastanza confortevole con zanzariere e clima.

L unica cosa da segnalare è che il posto è molto in alto quindi è pesantuccio arrivarci a piedi

Находишься как на даче у хорошего знакомого. Хозяйка Манори очень приветливая, общительная. С раннего утра подметает сад. Вечером общались с соседями, делились впечатлениями. Манори несколько раз готовила нам ужин. Сама покупала морепродукты и вечером был накрыт стол. Завтрак был европейский яичница, кофе, фрукты. Спасибо за гостеприимство!!!

Конечно подъём к отелю осилит не всякий. Подъём крутой, тук-тук не поднимется. Только это может быть проблемой Но отзывчивость хозяйки всё перекрывает!!!

Были в этом прекрасном месте с 21.02.2026 три недели. Очень гостеприимные и отзывчивые хозяева, мама Манури и сын Хасит. Хасит организовал нам трансфер из аэропорта. Не смотря на то, что прилетели с опозданием на 2 часа, нас встретили и с комфортом доставили до места. Хозяйка Манури - просто зайка 🙏🏼❤️. Вокруг дома красивый сад: банановые пальмы, кокосовые, папайя, манго, цветы… Дом находится высоко на горе. Подниматься и спускаться можно по дорожке, и по ступеням. Не поленились посчитать их на 2 день пребывания 😁 127 ступеней - кардио каждый день. Если ходили по дорожке, часто встречали гуляющих варанов. Жили на 2 этаже, в двухкомнатном номере с видом на храм и океан. В номере есть все необходимое для комфортного проживания. Кухня со всем необходимым, стиральная машина, кондиционер, холодильник, телевизор (который ни разу не включили 🤭). Много готовили сами. По утрам варили кофе, в привезенной с собой гейзерной кофеварке. Утренний кофе на террасе, на рассвете, с видом на океан - это незабываемые ощущения 🩵 Спуск от дома выходит сразу к дороге. Дорогу перешли, здесь вам и маркеты, не супер конечно, но самое необходимое купить можно, и фруктовая лавка. За фруктовой лавкой налево, проходите через дайвинг-центр, и вы на пляже. Вообще на Шри Ланке были впервые. И она украла наше сердце ❤️ Планируем на будущий год вернуться и обязательно остановимся в этом прекрасном месте у Манури ❤️

Отличное расположение: хотя подниматься в гору немного сложно, можно воспользоваться ступеньками храма - не каждый тук-тук сможет туда заехать, зато открывается прекрасный вид на океан. Номер просторный, с кухней-гостиной, спальней, санузлом и большим балконом. Кухня полностью оснащена всем необходимым. Кондиционер работает тихо, кровать и подушки удобные, в номере чисто, полотенца меняют по запросу. Есть механическая стиральная машина. Владельцы очень дружелюбные, завтраки вкусные и разнообразные. Территория красивая и ухоженная.

В первый день сломался замок входной двери, новый установили только на 4-5-й день. В ванной также был неисправен сифон раковины - вода стекала на пол.

Beautiful place with a very friendly owner. She can Cook you a real local housemeal if you want. Recommended if you want a local place to stay.

We really enjoyed our stay here. As the reviews say, it is up a steep hill, there are like 3 stages of it it’s quite long and gains in steepness but it didn’t bother us. The views from the balcony are beautiful. The AC worked well. I cannot comment on the hot water as we were always so sweaty we had freezing cold showers anyway. The hosts are lovely and the breakfast plentiful lots of eggs, bread, fruit, tea and coffee. They make it for you fresh it’s not like buffet style. I saw a comment saying the dogs were aggressive but they are NOT. one is very barky but runs away when you come near. It’s a pleasant enough stay.

I would give this hotel 10 if it weren’t for a couple of things regarding the room. There were ants all over our walls. I didn’t mention this to the host because I know in 3 nights there’s not much they could do, I live in Thailand I know ants get in. I wouldn’t have minded as much but by the last night they were IN THE BED. I really didn’t like that. They could try sealing the windows better and the doors as things can just crawl under the doors. The shower didn’t drain well we had to brush the water into the drain every time we showered. I stayed here with my partner and we were provided with two very thin, very small sheets to sleep with. For a double room, a double comforter is ideal. I woke up very cold each night. I think with a few tweaks this could be a 10* stay, and I would stay again but these couple of things were a bit of a deterrent.

Es ist sehr familiär. Die Leute sind unendlich freundlich, hilfsbereit und es macht extrem viel Spaß, sich mit ihnen zu unterhalten. Die Lage ist top. Zwar muss man ca. fünf Minuten eine Steile Straße oder Treppen nehmen, um anzukommen. Dafür wird man mit einer ruhigen Lage mit einem unglaublichen Rooftop-Ausblick auf's Meer belohnt. Zum Frühstück gibt es Kaffee/Tee, Toast, Ei und Früchte aus dem eigenen Garten. Die leckeren Früchte waren das Highlight jeden Morgen.

Der Ausblick war sehr schön, der Garten war schön grün, die Hausdame war beim zweiten Frühstück nett, man konnte das Meer auf der Terrasse hören

Es war ein sehr steiler Anstieg bis zur Unterkunft ( letzten ca 150m ), keine Bettdecke, Badezimmertür lies sich nicht von Innen schließen, Badezimmerfenstergriff war nicht vorhanden - deshalb nicht schliessbar. Wenn man einen leichten Schlaf hat ist es schwer zu schlafen, weil ein helles Licht draußen ist. Die Klimaanlage hat nur teilweise funktioniert. Man muss mit Ohrenstöpseln schlafen, weil man alles von der Terrasse hören kann

We really enjoyed our stay at the villa. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming, and they helped with transfers and everything related to our stay. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The breakfasts were also delicious. It was a 5-minute walk to the beach. I highly recommend it!

A very beautiful view of ocean/temple from the room. A nice garden in front of villa. Hosts were supportive, they always helped us with our requests.

The road to the villa has a very steep slope. Be prepared to walk it as other means of transport do not manage to drive up the hill.

The room was spacious and clean. The balcony had good views of Unawatuna Beach. The family that run the place are extremely kind and helpful and the breakfast was good and changed daily.

The dog barked a lot every time a guest came to there rooms.

The hostess was lovely !!! She is a reason to stay alone. We loved our stay, felt so at home. The resident dogs are cuties. One of them barks at you a lot but you soon realise it’s nothing to be scared about. Breakfast was great. Room and view from balcony was gorgeous with the sunset

There is a massive hill to walk up which is like 6 minutes long. Honestly it’s fine but it is something to be aware of

The view from the roof terrace is unbeatable, but the view from the first floor balconies is fantastic too! I have seen one of the best sunsets while here in Sri Lanka! Everything was really clean and I had a really great breakfast! The family running it is amazing and they helped me sort out my transportation to my next accommodation! Highly recommend!

Но больше всего нам понравилось управляющая, она очень хорошая женщина и позаботились о том, чтобы у нас было все необходимое и мы чувствовали , что о нас хорошо заботятся.Madam всегда очень улыбчивая, приветливая, внимательная с любовью относится к своему делу! Отдельно респект хозяина .Двор очень красивый, зелёный, располагает к отдыху. На деревьях растут кокоси. Желаю вам побольше клиентов!

Manori, excelente anfitriona. Super cariñosa, te ayuda en todo y más. Las vistas desde la habitación son una maravilla. Sitio tranquilo para relajarse después de un completo día de playa y deportes de agua. Ofrecen masajes, cena y servicio de taxi. Encantadores. La ubicación está bien, cerca de la playa y de la zona de restaurantes. Hay una cuesta de acceso final que hara mantener tus piernas firmes.

A welcoming lady at this charming villa just a few hundred meters away from the beach. The breakfast was good, I got to test a durian fruit for the 1st time in Sri Lanka and it was really good and fresh!

Dieses Hotel liegt fantastisch. Ein kurzer Weg nach oben und man hat von der Dachterrasse einen fantastischen und unbezahlbaren Ausblick. Inklusive Sonnenuntergang. Ich weiß nicht wie die unteren Zimmer sind aber unseres oben war großartig. Auch die Gastmutter ist super. Sie hat jrden Abend für uns fein gekocht und mir eine Masseurin organisiert. Top

Todo esto, a un precio más que justo, hace que la experiencia sea insuperable. Sin duda, repetiríamos encantados.

Chambre qui correspondait à nos attentes. Hôtes très sympathiques et aux petits soins. Un chemin très pentu pour atteindre la villa, il vaut mieux emprunter les marches (qui mènent au temple) que la route quand on a des bagages.

Very friendly hosts! So kind and it felt like we were part of the family! Spacious and clean room with lovely balcony to chill on. We really enjoyed the delicious meals that were cooked for us!

Not a problem for us, but the last bit of hill to the property was very difficult for cars and tuk tuks, we usually just walked it and it took us less than 10 minutes. Could be an issue for those with mobility problems.

The room felt damp. The bathroom was really desperate. The accommodation is located some 300m from the main road and everything goes uphill.

Arazo Villa was an outstanding choice! Both the host and her son were absolutely wonderful—always available to answer questions and offer guidance. Hasith even went the extra mile by picking me up at the station and personally driving me to Colombo. Truly an exceptional person. Yes, the climb up to the villa is steep, but it’s absolutely worth it for the incredible experience. Thank you for a truly wonderful stay!

The bathroom was always full of mosquitoes, even we were eliminating them, new ones were respawning all the time. To get to the villa you need to go uphill in a very stip road, for us was not a problem, but maybe for someone it might.

We had a very pleasant stay! The house is lovely and the rooms have everything you need. But above all, the owner is adorable! The breakfast was very good too. We loved staying here!

Steep hill but good exercise!

I was happy to spend my holiday in this villa, the most caring owner and her son, kind responsive, always advise what, where and how best👌, everything in walking distance around, I saw the most gorgeous sunsets from my balcony, this view fascinated me daily 😇,Manouri, Hasid warmest greetings, not saying goodbye, but say see you later!!!!.

Really spacious, clean rooms with good air con/showers and a super friendly host. Close to the beach and amenities.

It’s located up a very steep hill that wouldn’t be suitable for all but taxis can reach it easily and tuk tuks will take you most of the way up.

Loved this stay so much wish we could stay longer. Room was perfect, air con great, shower great with warm water. Clean. Beautiful place full of trees very jungly feel to it. Gorgeous couple of dogs tutu and Jimmy. We felt really looked after like we was at home. Owned by mum and son and they are both really lovely and easy to talk to. No issue with mosquitoes either!!

Nice, friendly people. Great value for the money. Good breakfast. A quiet location up a steep hill. Not a problem for us but could be if you are unfit Feels like you are in the treetops. No noise from the road down below Stayed for 2 nights and could happily have stayed longer.

The host is an amazing, cheerful lady and works extremely hard. She really cares about her guests. The garden is lovely and the view is wonderful from the upper floor. The place is very simple and rustic. The monks live next door, and you can hear chants together with the lovely sounds of the birds in this rural location. The shower was warm, unlike some places we have stayed, soap and towels are provided. The AC is a rotary fan and not an AC unit.

It's not a problem for us. You don't get views without a hill, and it is very steep. The place may feel a little too basic for some people. Essentially, you are at their home, close to how srilankan people live a simple life.

One of the best homestays! We stayed three nights and were sad to leave. Very clean and comfortable, we loved having an outdoor bathroom. The hosts are lovely (best we’ve had on our trip!) and really make you feel welcome and at home. Food was also great!

The property is up a short but steep hill. Very close to beach and town, but do be aware of hill!

Loved the stay at Arazo villa! Hasith and his mom Manori were super friendly and warm. The rooms are very well maintained and comfortable. They offered us home cooked Sri Lankan breakfast on request and the hoppers were amazing. Hasith was kind enough to drive us to the beach early in the morning in his car too. Highly recommend this homestay to anyone visiting Unawatuna.

Great view of the sea, welcoming hosts and quiet atmosphere. Bit of a climb but totally worth it. Would definitely come back.

The location was amazing, next to an old Buddhist Monastery, with an amazing view. One could hear chanting with the sunset. Not only that, the owner is an amazing cook. I had her prepare my dinners and had wonderful conversations with her and her adult son.

The room I stayed in had a gorgeous view of a temple, the ocean and sunset. It also had a good desk and chair with decent wifi so I could sit and work on my computer while looking out at the ocean. It's a nice quiet area away from the busy street. It is at the top of a very steep hill so be prepared to hike, but totally worth it for the view.

There was no drinking water available in the rooms, or a refill water station where I could fill my reusable bottle so I had to buy plastic water bottles from the staff. I wish there was a water refill station.

The room was comfortable and had a beautiful view from our balcony. The staff were super friendly and welcoming. A nice breakfast was provided each morning. The villa is at the top of a steep hill but tuk tuks can get you there be back!

Great location in the hills overlooking the coast. We had a ground floor room with nice garden terrace. The room was comfortable and large with icy cold air con. There is also a modern tv set up which on request you can access many channels. Breakfast was good with eggs, toast fruit etc and us served at a time if your choice. To get to the town/beach you can either take a short Tuk Tuk ride, walk down the hill or take the 155 steps through the monastery. It is steep but only takes 5 minutes. Very friendly service

- The lady who owns the villas was absolutely amazing, such a friendly and funny person. She was the highlight of this accommodation. - Nice little escape from the chaos of the main road. - Good breakfast which the host will make at whatever time you need it. - Good AC. Good value for money, I would absolutely stay again!

- There was quite a lot of mosquitoes, and the mosquito net had some small holes which I think was letting them through.

Manori was our best host in Sri Lanka. She is such a happy and welcoming host and made sure we had everything we needed during our stay. We also booked a cooking class with her and learned how to make delicious curries. We had a wonderful time and would definitely come back.

Authentic mountain retreat: cozy, rustic room with air conditioning and a fridge, a stunning terrace overlooking the sea, and a warm family-run business by a lovely mother and son. The property features a beautiful garden and two adorable dogs. Special thanks to Manori for her amazing cooking class—it was an authentic experience, just like living and cooking with the locals. All our tuk-tuks made it up the hill! The only “downside” is the steep road to the property, but it’s absolutely worth it.
