Sehr schöne Unterkunft, der Besitzer ist mega freundlich, er hilft wo er kann, das gemeinsame Morgenessen mit allen anderen Gästen ist immer spannend und für allein reisende super um interessante Menschen kennenzulernen.

Thangkop House is a lovely small family run property. It is located at the quieter end of Fort Road. The team, Dolma and Wong are such nice people, and very knowledgeable and helpful. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Wir sind mehr als eine Woche in diesem wunderbaren Zuhause geblieben. Die Herzlichkeit, Grosszügigkeit und Hilfsbereitschaft von den Gastgebern Wang und Dolma werden wir nie vergessen! Bei der Organisation von Ausflügen und als wir Krank waren, waren sie immer zur Stelle. Im Haus mit Garten und Apfelbäumen hat man sich stets wohl gefühlt:)

Gute Lage, Serviceleistungen, Bearbeitung von Gesuchen sehr prompt. Schöne Dachterrasse.

Frühstück war eher schlicht. Die Beschilderung von der Straße her, war nicht so eindeutig, das Haus selbst hatte kein Schild. Sauberkeit im privaten Badezimmer war "geht so".

E' una sistemazione in una casa tradizionale ladakha. Bella atmosfera. La proprietaria è molto gentile, anche se ci aveva detto che ci avrebbe fatto trovare tè/caffè la mattina presto al posto della colazione e invece al nostro risveglio non abbiamo trovato nulla.

La struttura non è centralissima, è un po' defilata rispetto alla zona centrale del mercato.

The owners were very cordial and helpful, would highly recommend. The garden sitting area was cosy and very beautiful.

The hosts are so kind. So helpful. Made me feel right at home. We even left our baggage at their homestay for a few days without even the slightest fear.

Комнаты с высокими потолками и большими окнами, кровати удобные, с хорошими матрасами. Санузлы с рабочей сантехникой и электронагревателями, позволяющими вымыться горячей водой в любое время суток. Холл на первом этаже просторный, с удобными топчанами, столом для трапез, набором справочной литературы и карт местности, есть возможность пользования холодильником. Дворик с цветами и плодоносящими яблонями зелен и тенист, там приятно посидеть в кресле в жаркий день. Хозяева Долма и Вонг приветливы и заботливы, свободно владеют английским и всегда готовы пойти навстречу гостям. Общее впечатление от пребывания в хоумстее превосходное - непременно буду рекомендовать его друзьям.

Мелкие пожелания: вследствие повышения влажности климата появились москиты (убил на себе пару), что требует наличия репеллентов, в комнатах без своего санузла очень не помешали бы вешалки для полотенец.

Thangkop Guesthouse is a great place to stay. Wangial and his mother, Dolma, will take great care of you. They can help you arrange tours and taxis, and recommend nice places to visit downtown. It’s also a great advantage that Wangial is a guide himself, as he knows the region very well. But perhaps what I remember most is the relaxed atmosphere during breakfast, when you can sit down and chat with other travellers. Some things are hard to put into words, but Wangial and Dolma really create that cosy, welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel at home.

Abbiamo dormito alcune notti in questa homestay come punto di appoggio a Leh. La host Dolma riesce a farti sentire a casa. L’atmosfera è calma e accogliente e nell’area comune, specialmente a colazione, si incontrano altre persone in viaggio con cui condividere esperienze e racconti. La struttura si trova in una strada tranquilla, fuori dalla confusione del centro, che si raggiunge comunque a piedi in circa 10 minuti.

Wir haben uns im Thangkop House sehr wohlgefühlt. Die Gastgeber sind sehr hilfsbereit und freundlich und helfen bei vielen organisatorischen Fragen! Es gibt eine Frühstücksmöglichkeit im gemeinsamen Aufenthaltsraum! Ins Zentrum von Leh sind es ungefähr 15 Minuten zu Fuß. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

Dolma and Wang are amazing people. We felt right at home straight away and Wang helped us sort taxis, treks, anything we needed. This is the place to stay in Leh!

La distanza dal centro non è quella indicata. Non è vicino ma ci vuole quasi mezzora a piedi, specialmente i primi giorni quando l'altitudine si fa sentire. E' necessario insomma prendere un taxi.

Ich wurde selten in einer Unterkunft so herzlich aufgenommen wie im Thangkop House. Der Gastgeber und seine Mutter sind außergewöhnlich gastfreundlich, an den Bedürfnissen ihrer Gäste interessiert und gehen weit über das hinaus, was normalerweise erwartet werden kann. Meine Zeit hier gehört zu den schönsten Urlaubserfahrungen, die ich gemacht habe und ich freue mich schon auf den nächsten Besuch!

An der Unterkunft gibt es nichts auszusetzen.

Very comfortabl and relaxing place, Delome and her son Wong were so helpful, friendly and made me feel at home away from home, and I also really liked how sociable the environment in the guesthouse is and there was always someone to talk to , thanks 🙏

The owner and his mom are great hosts! They helped us with our travel plans and going to a wonderful local festival. The beds were comfortable and the fresh bread, eggs and bananas for breakfast were nice. Hot water shower and great community feel. The kindness of this guesthouse really made our visit to Ladakh super good. Wang is so helpful in organizing, you can trust that he will help you organize anything you need. We stayed for 5 nights and I highly recommended this guest house!

Better screens on the windows would help to keep little bugs out of rooms.

Dolma Auntie, with her night cats, has been an absolute delight. Staying at Thangkop House felt like staying with family. She takes care of every visitor as her own, showering everyone with warmth, kindness, and so much genuine care. She’s incredibly resourceful, intelligent, and, most importantly, just wonderfully warm. The house is also strategically located, beautifully kept, clean and pristine — but what really makes it special is the feeling it gives you. A true home away from home.

We would thoroughly recommend staying at Thangkop guesthouse if you are traveling to Leh! We stayed here every time we returned to Leh during our Ladakh trip and they were very flexible and accommodating with dates. The guesthouse has comfortable rooms, a great breakfast and is within easy walking distance of the centre of town but away from the main hustle and bustle. Dolma and Wang are both fantastic hosts and are bery knowledgeable, they're happy to give recommendations, help book taxis and even helped out during illness! Hopefully one day we will return!

This place is special. I have extended my stay twice because of Dolma and Wang who can resolve each issue if any. They create this place special. Nothing more to add. Room and bathroom were very clean. Bad comfortable and helpful owners. Wang can organize company for a trip if you tralce solo.. Big benefit is a small garden where you can rest. House is a walking distance from a city but I see this as a huge benefit because you do not hear city noise. I will definitely return to this place!

Beautiful room, very clean and comfortable. But the best is the family running it, we felt like home. They arranged a lot of things for us and really cared for us. We had a few issues and they made our stay the best possible experience in ladakh.

Thangkop House est la meilleure pension de famille dans laquelle j'ai séjourné ! Il y règne une convivialité et une gentillesse sans pareille. Dolma la maman s'occupe de l'hébergement tandis que son fils Wong aide chaque résident qui le souhaite à organiser un séjour personnalisé. J'avais initialement réservé 3 jours et j'ai finalement étendu mon séjour à 10 jours. Cet guest house est un have de paix et de bienveillance que l'on ne veut plus quitter. A 15 petites minutes du marché (le centre ville de Leh) on profite ici du calme et d'un jardin très convivial. Je recommande très chaleureusement cette adresse et remercie très sincèrement toute la famille pour ce séjour inoubliable !

The hosts are very warm. The location is good , away from crowds but not very quiet as there are big hotels nearby that okay loud music.

My room was large but not cleaned. There were used water bottles from the previous occupant, bathroom wasn’t cleaned with stains in the sink & commode, used fragments of soap , and I doubt the linen was changed.

We had an incredible stay at Tangkop Guesthouse. Dolma is a wonderful and incredibly hospitable host who made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The breakfast was excellent, and her son Wong helped organize everything for us, from Transportation, trekking advice, restaurant suggestions, ... making our stay completely stress-free. We felt well looked after from beginning to end and truly enjoyed our time at Tangkop Guesthouse. We highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area! Every morning you get to know new people at the breakfast table.

Wirklich sehr zu empfehlendes Guest House in Leh. Mit den Gastgebern fühlt es sich einfach sehr familiär an, sie unterstützen einen super bei der Reiseplanung und sind immer hilfsbereit. Im schönen Aufenthaltsbereich kommt man mit anderen Gästen ins Gespräch. Gerne kommen wir ein weiteres Mal wieder!

Wir hatten unser Zimmer im Obergeschoss. Die vollverglasten Wände sind zwar toll, nachts wird es durch die schlechte Isolierung jedoch sehr kalt.

部屋はとても広く、太陽が差し込んで暖かく、快適でした！予約時は共用バスルームの部屋でしたが、専用バスルームの部屋にアップグレードしてくださいました。 着いた瞬間に温かく迎え入れてくださり、ティーのおもてなしや朝には朝ごはんもサービスで出してくださいました！ 観光のアドバイスもたくさんくださり、とても感謝です！ここでの滞在を強くおすすめします！

ホットシャワーが途中で水になってしまい寒かった。ただ、このような場所なので仕方ないと思う。ホットシャワーが出るだけありがたい。

Just a perfect place, comfortable and silent place, clean and tidy. However, the best marks for Dolma, owner. She helped us very much during riots in Sept 2025, making food and arranging taxi to airport. Extremely recommended place!

Wang, Dolma aunty and Samir made us feel so loved and taken care of! We landed early in the morning, but they had some amazing chai and our room ready for us within minutes. Every morning, my partner and I were so excited to wake up, just to be able to taste dolma aunty's home made bread. Samir makes excellent omlettes! Wang took care of all of our travel needs. He helped us get our permits, dropped us to Rumbak village for a hike, helped several others in the house book their kardungla road trips and also dropped us off to the airport for our departure from Leh. When we had an unfortunate accident at the hike, Wang prepared himself to come rescue us, which goes to show how above and beyond they go. We loved their house so much so that we extended our stay at the house by another couple days. They also have multiple sweet kitties on the property, who love to lounge in the sun and never bothered us. We also really enjoyed the our room and the location of the property. There's a lot of restuarants, supermarket within 5 minutes walking distance. The leh market is 15 minutes away with a lot of shopping stores along the way. Perfect home stay, can't wait to go back here with my parents soon.

Everything was perfect! Only thing to watch out for those visiting Leh is that only Jio sim cards work here. I thankfully had decided to take a digital break and didn't find it hard, but if you need network when you're not in the house and have access to wifi, you might need to get a new simcard.

Dolma is very kind & will make you khambirs, omelette & tea for breakfast. She loaned me walking poles & waterproofs for my four day Markha Valley trek. I especially enjoyed talking to Sumir from Nepal who works at Thangkop. He is a very interesting young man & he was educating me about the Nepali hip hop scene.

Wangial supposedly ordered a taxi pick up from the airport, but there was nobody there holding a placard with my name on it when I arrived, so I ended up taking a prepaid taxi instead. Minor issues with availability of hot water, no towel etc. (but you gets what you pays for).

A nice large room with a comfortable bed and a nice warm duvet. The owners are lovely and very accommodating. For breakfast, homemade bread, eggs, peanut butter, and jam were very yummy. There was a water filter dispenser, which was perfect.

We booked a room at Thangkop house, but instead we got a room at Harmony house next door. Unfortunately, I had to mention to Wong, the bathroom wasn't cleaned plus there were wrappers from soap and other stuff. He was very apologetic and he offered to move us to the main house the next day. We didn't, but we should have as the main house is so much nicer. The Wi-Fi didn't work in our room or upstairs.

This was the best home stay experience we have ever had! Dolma, Wang and Samir made sure we were very well looked after and comfortable and Wang helped us to organise everything we did in Ladakh. The house has a very personal and homely feel and the communal breakfast means you get to know the other people staying there! Cannot recommend more highly

Wang and his mother welcomed us, like family members. We had 2 rooms, with very comfortable beds and plenty of hot water. We had the rooms with the balcony and sat outside enjoying the views. Wang helped us organise a 8 day family road trip which included plenty of activities for my kids, go karting, quad biking, camel riding, zip witing and river rafting. We had excellent drivers, who very caring, helpful and flexible to support our requirements. Wang was also helping other guests with planning trekking and bike riding trails, and supporting by storing luggage safety and sending luggage onto other places. Breakfast also great and we loved the local tea. We met lots of other guests -many who had stayed at Thangkop before. Returning guests, says it all. If like us, you wish to experience a real Leh family than I fully recommend staying at Thangkop.

Staying at Thangkop House was one of the most special parts of my time in Ladakh. From the moment I arrived, I felt genuinely welcomed and cared for. Dolma’s warmth, kindness, and presence made the guesthouse feel like a true home — not just a place to sleep. Every detail was handled with love. Wang was incredibly kind and respectful, always making sure things ran smoothly and that guests felt at ease. He wasn’t just a host — he helped with every question, shared thoughtful tips for exploring Ladakh, and created an atmosphere that felt open and relaxed. Dolma’s fresh local bread every morning was a simple but beautiful gesture I looked forward to each day. The rooms are clean and quiet, and the garden is a peaceful spot to reflect after a day exploring. This place has heart. You don’t just stay here — you connect. Thank you for everything, Dolma, Wang, and Samir. It really meant a lot — I won’t forget this stay and hope to return one day.

The worm hospitality of the host Aunty makes it truly a home away from home. Aunty and Wang helped us with all we needed and even guided us with local sight seeing options. The day we reached Leh, the market was closed including all the eateries in Leh. Though the stay only provides Breakfast, aunty took the trouble to cook Lunch and Dinner on that day. And not to mention, she didn't charge anything for the food. In today's world this kind of gesture is very rare. Also, we had the room with a terrace, which was great. Wifi works fine and you get geiser for 24/7 hot water.

Staff was great- very friendly and helpful coordinating taxis, etc. Location is a bit removed from the main road which helps reduce noise.We liked it enough that we returned twice! It was our home base in Leh.

We had a lovely stay at Thankgop House with Mrs. Dolma and her son. They were both very helpful, kind, and welcoming. They always made sure we knew what we were doing, and took the time to speak with us whenever we had questions. Thangkop House is a 10min walk from the main city market, which is great as we could get away from the hustle and bustle when we wanted to. We stayed in a wonderful room on the top floor with lots of windows overlooking trees. Thank you Dolma and Wang!

We stayed three different times throughout our stay in Ladakh because: -The room was spacious, clean and sunny. The views were beautiful and so was the room itself. All this makes that the room was a nice place to spend time. -The toilet worked good, so did hot water. -Apart from some eventual dog barking or music night in the town area, the place was silent. -The staff (Dolma, Wang) were super nice to us at all times. We had talks about culture and society. They helped us book taxis, create travel routes and decide destinations, and we lended from them trekking poles and cooking gas. We could leave bags at the house during our trekking weeks and pick them up after. Breakfasts were simple and good, house-made by Dolma. The second and third times we went there, we felt like we were coming back home. Definitely the place we will come back to if we go back to Ladakh.

The location is aprox 20 min away from Main Bazaar and the central area. Those 20 min of walk are done on Fort Road, which sometimes has a lot of traffic, so it’s not always a nice walk. Of course this allows the place to be peaceful and silent, and it’s nothing the staff could change, but sometimes feels like “ouf, again”

I really felt like coming home! The family who runs this stay was very welcoming and caring. Thank you Dolma I would say Ma / Mother 🤗 for your hospitality and motherly care and Wang for arranging motorcycle and helping on my route plan and your throughout guidance! It’s a 10/10 from me.

The owner was very kind and even though we left early she managed to prepare us breakfast. And her son was amazing, he is a professional tourguide. He drove us to the busstation and made sure we got a good shared taxi to Manali. Thank you!
