Beautiful property. Lush, clean and wonderful service. Very well located. Mr. LENG is great. He and his family are wonderful hosts. They help organize visits, cook great food. And give an amazing tour of the Fish Island. Mr. Leng is the man!!

Mr Leng, the owner, was exceptional! He was welcoming and offered us a highly informative tour of the island in his tuk tuk. The room was clean and had a beautiful view of the city. His breakfasts were terrific.

I loved it all. The only thing I was disappointed in was that we only stayed for two nights. I was feeling under the weather and had I felt better and had we stayed another night or two, we could have seen so much more. Maybe this gives us an excuse to come back.

Mr Leng and his wife were both extremely friendly and hospitable. The bungalows have so much more character and charm than a hotel room, I highly recommend staying here and supporting a local family and business. Two delicious, inexpensive and substantial breakfast options are available that come with a barista brewed coffee by Mr Leng. Dinner options are also available. The rooftop bar area has stunning evening river/city views over Kampot. The accommodation is within a walkable distance to Kampot city centre, otherwise Passapp and Grab are very cheap travel options to use.

Court séjour mais agréable. Mr Leng a créé un vrai petit havre de paix, l'endroit est joliment décoré et dégage une ambiance zen. La cuisine de sa femme est délicieuse, on s'est régalés. Point en plus pour la vue sur le rooftop, qui est magnifique. On recommande !

Mr. Leng lives up to the hype haha he’s the best. He is so kind and really looks out for the comfort and happiness of his guests. Meals cooked by his wife are great (and since this is a little outside of town, there isn’t much else around), the rooftop is breezy and shades which was a nice break from the heat. He was happy to help us rent a scooter for two days, book our ferry tickets for us. He loves guiding his evening $2 tuktuk tour of fish island to see the salt fields and how locals live. Warm shower, decent Wi-Fi, comfy bed, AC. Incredible price. There are currently 25 cats in the property (2 born while we were here!) so that was a major plus for my partner lol. No frills really but a great find.

Me Leng and his family were super helpful in the lead up to the visit. We wassupped! He also booked us our transfers and helped with organising the tuk tuk. Breakfast was nice too.

The electricity in the room might need some reviewing as when we tried to have the kettle and the fridge on, the lights didn’t work. We forgot to tell Mr Leng upon departure but am sure he will look into it when he reads this :-)

Eine herausragende Unterkunft in einem wunderschönen Garten. Die Bungalows sind geräumig, gemütlich und sauber mit einer schönen Terrasse/Balkon. Es gibt 2 Frühstücksoptionen: beide wirklich lecker. Abends kann man auf der Dachterrasse sitzen und hat einen fantastischen Ausblick auf einen Teil der Stadt. Die Unterkunft liegt in einer ruhigen Gegend und trotzdem stadtnah. Herr Leng und seine Familie sind außerordentlich herzliche, hilfsbereite und kommunikative Gastgeber, die jeden Wunsch erfüllen. Auch für Fragen zur Umgebung, oder Kambodscha steht Mr. Leng immer zur Verfügung. Er hat wertvolle Tips für Aktivitäten in der Nähe. Seine Erreichbarkeit ist durch WhatsApp super. Wir haben auch die von Mr. Leng angebotene Tour gemacht, was sehr interessant und schön war. Wir hatten Spaß und haben viel gelacht. Übrigens wohnen auch viele niedliche Katzen am Homestay. Wir können diese Unterkunft wärmstens und ohne Einschränkung empfehlen. Danke, Mr. Leng!!

- Location. - Rooms were rustic and as my daughter said : "cool". - quiet - good view of the river from their roof top bar. Bought dinner (crabs etc) outside and ate facing the river. -owner provides island tour in the evenings

- Signage a little bit small. Missed it a few times looking for it. -No space for proper parking. If driving a pick up or SUV, it will be a challenge.

Great value for money, a delicious breakfast, and Mr Leng was an excellent host, making the stay wonderful.

Mr. Leng and family are very helpful and proactive; the bungalow is quite spacious; breakfast is good; Grab works so arranging a ride to downtown (20 min walk, 5 min tuk-tuk) is easy and quick; I didn't have any issues with mosquitoes; the value for money of the stay is excellent

there are plenty of night noises from outside coming into the room at night (dogs barking, boats passing) which woke me up a few times, especially one of the nights; also - the property is a bit of a distance from downtown (but quick and easy with Grab as I mentioned)

We opted for a room with aircon rather than a bungalow with just a fan which made our stay more comfortable. Mr and Mrs Leng were brilliant and looked after us really well. Simple breakfast and evening meals for days we didn’t go out to eat were tasty. Sky bar is a great place to relax with a view of the river. Thank you to Mr Leng who took us out in his tuk tuk for various short tours all an adventure and arranged others we wanted to do! Fish Island is a short tuk tuk ride into town.

I had an amazing stay at Mr and Mrs Leng's homestay. The location was amazing, in the middle of the local life of Cambodian people. Our room was fan only but it even had 2 fans which made our sleep more comfortable, the bed was good too. The shower had working hot water. Besides Mr Leng also offers different services like motorbike rental and laundry. And got a nice rooftop bar to enjoy the view of the Kampot River and Bokor Mountain. And another plus was they had a lot of cars and baby kittens roaming around. Definetly recommend this homestay and I would book here again when I am back in Kampot.

Fish Island Bungalows bylo nejlepší ubytování během celé naší dovolené v Kambodži. Pan Leng a jeho žena nás úžasně přivítali a během celého pobytu se o nás skvěle starali – opravdu jim záleží, aby hostům bylo dobře. Krásně zvelebují zahradu, která je opravdovým rájem na zemi. Pan Leng pravidelně jezdí do lesa a vozí další rostliny, orchideje, kmeny stromů – je vidět, že se o místo s láskou stará. Snídaně byla skvělá – každý den jsme si dávali omeletu, k tomu výbornou kávu z normálního pákového kávovaru s italskou kávou a nejlepší rozpečenou bagetu s marmeládou! Určitě s ním vyrazte na prohlídku Rybího ostrova, na kterém se ubytování nachází. Také vám rád zařídí tuktuk s řidičem na prohlídku pepřové farmy a města Kep, kde je vyhlášený krabí trh. Moc děkujeme za krásný pobyt a snad se sem někdy vrátíme!

Petit déjeuner et restaurant sur place très bon. On peut y aller sans hésiter! Loin du centre ville, loin du bruit, mais à 7 minutes en tuk tuk ...

Il manque une bouilloire dans la chambre, sinon la présence du frigo est un plus!

Nous avons passé un très bon séjour au Fish Island Bungalow. Merci à Mr Leng pour ses excursions magnifiques, sa gentillesse, son humour, sa gaieté et l'excellente cuisine de son épouse. Si l'on repasse par Kampot, nous reviendrons avec plaisir.

Mr Leng is an exceptional host with good English. He really is a positive person, we felt very welcomed in his homestay, from the welcome board at the front with my name written on it, to his cheerful hellooo everytime he sees you and his genuine happy demeanour. No problem is too much to sort out. He helped with onward travel, tours advice, moped hire and his 5pm tuk tuk tour (now 2$) is a must do; he sings as he drives, waves and greets people as he goes and the salt fields at sunset are just magical. Mr Leng gave us a rendition of his sunset song in his resturant on request, which was absolutely wonderful, he has a very good singing voice. Mrs Leng is also very kind and welcoming and is the main cook in the restaurant, the food is good quality, she helped us buy locally made palm sugar and with answering our questions about the moped hire. We stayed at Fish Island Bungalows in February, we were able to chose one of the more modern bungalows rather than the more attractive, rustic looking bungalows which helped a lot with mosquito limitation. The roof top terrace bar is a lovely place to sit and to view the river, listen to local life. Each room also has an outside space overlooking the lovely green and well cared for garden. Mr Leng can tell you the history of each plant in the garden. It's a nice space to be in. This homestay is in a local community rather than the main part of the town which will suit some people and not others. Getting a tuk tuk is not difficult for the short drive. We did walk it once but the tuk tuk is easier for tired legs. We hired one of the guest house mopeds which was good value and worked well, we enjoyed exploring the tiny lanes on Fish Island. Helmets were included in the hire.

Personally I liked it all. It felt safe and homely. If you are not a cat lover or have a cat allergy don't come here. There are a lot. They don't bother you, but it is part of the stay. Equally, this is a rural, riverside Cambodian stay and what goes with that is to be expected, insects, Cockerals, boat noise etc. For me, that is all part of the experience, but better to know before you book if it will be difficult for you.

The owner is very friendly and ready to help. The property is immersed in a very green garden. There is a nice view on the river from the rooftop.

The room and the bathroom were very simple and could have been cleaner. For the price we payed, we expected something nicer, having seen the pictures. Unfortunately, we didn’t manage to understand how to have hot water in the shower, or maybe there wasn’t. The rooftop is a nice spot but could use some maintenance.

Just outside of the city itself, fish island bungalows feels like a little paradise! Between the rooftop, the vegetation and the cats we spent every evening of our stay enjoying the property. The best part of course is the people! Mr Leng is an incredible man who cares very much for his guests. He is a warm host who takes the time to show guests around fish island (you can even see bioluminescent algae together if it’s dark enough!). My short stay here was my highlight in Cambodia and I would recommend anyone takes a detour to come here !

Fish Island Bungalows was the perfect place for us to stay in Kampot and probably our favourite in all of Cambodia. We wanted somewhere reasonably central to stay that had a bit of character, but found most interesting options were either quite a way out of the centre, and other more central guest houses seemed rather soulless. Fish Island Bungalows are no more than a 5 minute/£1 Tuk Tuk ride from the centre and we never had to wait more than 2 minutes to get a ride (via Grab). We stayed in one of the air-conditioned rooms with a great view from the balcony over the river towards Kampot. the room was comfortable and the air con was fine. We were visiting in low season so there were few guests and the rooftop bar was not functioning, but was still a great place to relax with our own drinks watching the fishing boats come and go. Mr Leng was a superb host. He gave us all the tips we needed for trips out and even negotiated good rates with trusted drivers for us. However, the absolute highlight was his sunset tour of Fish Island. For about 1.30 hours you can enjoy a delightful tour round the island accompanied by Mr Leng singing and then watch the sun set to Mr Leng singing his sunset song - just magical.

Mr Leng - is probably the best host we’ve ever experienced. A happy welcome as we stepped out of our tuk tuk. A fantastic tour of the island. Location is perfect. Quiet and special on the island but near enough to the bustle of town. We loved his beautiful rooms, roof top views and his kind upgrade to air con! This place is a must stay when you visit Kampot.

The Fish Island Bungalows have the perfect location! It is a bit outside the city but therefore calm, with a nice garden and the city is easily reachable via TukTuk. The best is Mr. Leng and his wife! They are very nice and speak English very well. Mr. Leng organised a super nice tour for us for a very good price and prepared very nice breakfasts for us. We regret we didn’t book the ferry to Koh Rong with him, as he had a way better offer than what we found online! He also told us a lot about himself and the life in Cambodia. Very very nice stay, thanks to him.

Even the Deluxe Bungalows are veeery very basic. They are clean in general, but do not expect too much comfort! Same counts for the bathrooms, which also did not smell very nice. We would still come again, due to Mr. Leng! :)

That kind of hospitality can truly make a solo trip special. I found that Fish Island Bungalows prioritizes making guests feel comfortable and relaxed immediately, rather than focusing on formalities first. Because of my overall experience there in Kampot, I can confidently say it was a great one. The moment I stepped into the bungalow, the owner gave me a warm welcome, simply showing me to my room and suggesting places with good views. It seemed they focused on my comfort and hospitality rather than immediately verifying my name or payment. Mr. Leng and his wife were amazing hosts. Besides that, Mr. Leng also brings me and other guests to ride a moto to visit around the city and community in the evening, such as a saltern and Umnin Koh Smao Beach, and also tells us some about future infrastructure development. I feel like more than just an enjoyable trip, it's good to know how the locals make a living as well.

Great hospitality from Mr Leng and his wife. From the friendly greeting on arrival through to when we left, they always made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. Good food is available provided you give advance notice that you want it as they buy the ingredients fresh from the market.

Not the quietest place, but similar to much of rural Cambodia where you are never far from chickens, frogs, dogs, and the occasional wedding party.

Mr. Leng made us feel right at home, made us a great breakfast, introducing us to his homemade jam which was amazing. He took us on a tour of Fish Island and saw bioluminescent plankton. Mr. Leng and his wife were extremely accommodating, always smiling, it was a pleasure to have stayed here.

The location and accessibility to main area Kampot

I was a bit skeptical at the high reviews at first, but when I met Mr. Leng, I found out why this place is special. Our room was nice, but pretty basic for a Cambodian hotel. However, the special part isn't so much the rooms, but Mr. Leng. I think Mr. Leng might be one of the funnest people I've ever met. He was super warm and friendly to my wife and I, and offered his tours in the evening. If I can suggest anything, GO ON THE 5PM TOUR! $2 per person. We had no expectations of this tour, but Mr. Leng somehow made it very entertaining. To give you a glimpse of what type of person Mr. Leng is: he talks/greets/jokes with nearly every local he sees while driving around (and they know him), he signs Khmer songs to himself while driving (like his own radio), and he tells the most animated wide-eyed stories. The guy is high on life, and considering the struggles a lot of Cambodians went through, it's really touching to see. Additionally, we went on the plankton tour at 8PM, and though we did see some plankton, it was low activity, and Mr. Leng didn't want us to pay! He said "I do tours for happy. No happy, no pay". We insisted on paying him anyways. We were also leaving at 6am the next morning, and Mr. Leng woke up just to see us off. He waited with us until we got our Tuk-Tuk. My wife tells me this is a "super Cambodian" thing to do, especially with family (i.e. walking someone all the way to the door, making sure they’re truly seen off). Anyways, staying here was THE highlight of our Kampot trip. I'd set your expectations for the room and understand why it's special.

We have been backpack travelling for over 40 years to see, to experience, to learn, to understand, to meet new people....we have always tried to stay in guesthouses as the closer contact with the owners contributed to making our days feel more special, helped us organize our arrivals and departures, our tours or personal explorations of the area, and sometimes even helped us find solutions to minor or major problems....Most of all our experiences in homestays have been great but some have been absolutely unforgettable. Fish Island Bungalows is one if them.This homestay is what hospitality is all about! M. Leng and his wife are the perfect hosts: both absolutely genuine, honest, and caring...wonderfull positive energy flowing in the surroundings, between the guests and with the owners...It really felt like home andc we undoubtedly will come back....

I can't express how great this place is... i enjoyed my stay a lot! Not only was the room super comfortable but Mr Leng and his wife are also amazing hosts!! Their hospitality is beyond great, they're so genuine, helpful, incredibly kind and literally have the warmest heart! It realllyy felt like home! Oh and there's a nice rooftop with a bar as well, Mr. Leng makes the best cocktails!!! You guys are going to LOVE IT! I can't recommend this place enough

Highlight of the Bungalows is of course the owner Mr. Leng who does everything possible to make your stay as smooth as possible. Also the property was in really good condition with a lovely garden and a lovely terrace to each bungalow.

Cute wooden sheds in a small gardens setting. Stayed for six nights and it was pleasant. Mainly we were out and about during the day as there is plenty to see in the area. Kampot was excellent for food options. The owner and his family are very pleasant and helpful.

The area smells of Sardines (well I guess the clue is in the name!). Expect the standard rural affair dogs, chickens, street noise, biting ants plus here you also get the weird town clock chiming at five and seven. Biting ants on the veranda.

Mr. Leng and Mama are very kind and helpful in arranging tours for us and providing feedback on Kampot. Wished we had stayed longer than two nights as the region is beautiful and lots to explore as well in nearby Kep.

He took us on his tuk tuk to tour fish island at sunset which was wonderful. Ask him to sing you the sunset song 😊He also took us to see the palm sugar farm which was incredible. He told us so much history and stories of his life and genuinely is a lovely man. Mrs Leng is so nice and helpful and she also cooks really lovely food which we took up to rooftop to eat. The terrace looks over the river and town which is lit up at night. It’s beautiful

Mr. Leng also took us to a local restaurant to give us the most authentic experience most of all. We greatly appreciate Mr. Leng to make our stay special and we cannot wait to be back!

This is truly a fantastic place to explore the diverse and vibrant Kampot area. I highly recommend staying at least three nights to fully experience Bokor National Park, Kep, the renowned pepper farms, and more. Mr. and Ms. Leng are exceptional hosts—genuinely warm, extraordinarily helpful, and attentive to every detail. My AC room was comfortable, with a good bed and a spotless bathroom, making for a pleasant stay. The bungalows are set within a charming, well-kept garden, offering a peaceful retreat despite being just a short 4-minute scooter ride—or a scenic walk along the river—from the bustling Kampot center. I initially planned a shorter stay but extended for two extra nights simply because I loved both the accommodation and the town. Mr. Leng goes above and beyond to assist with any needs, from travel arrangements to, in my case, tracking down a rare soy sauce at the local market. A big thumbs-up and many thanks for an amazing stay!

Mr and Mrs Leng are great hosts. The bungalow was spacious and had good air conditioning. Nice rooftop bar to have a beer and look over the surrounding area. Great location and main hub of nightlife is only 10 minutes away on a Tuk Tuk. Borrowed bikes and cycled all the way to the end of Fish Island, seeing a lot of wildlife en route.

Mr Leng and his family are kind and thoughtful hosts. Shower was warm and bed comfy. Extremely easy to rent a scooter, arrange connecting transport, etc with help from Mr Leng. We loved the local tour of the island and delicious fresh bread for breakfast.

This wasn't an issue for us, but the bungalows are quite open to the elements so there are lots of sounds from animals at night etc. But great value for money if you don't mind that.

Rooftop lounge is incredible! Mr. Ling is so, so friendly and helpful, he gave me lots of tips on fun activities and gave me a tour of the island and to visit the fish market. Highly, highly recommend as a lovely place to stay in Kampot.

The rooms are right near the river, so light sleepers should bring earplugs or they might hear the boats returning in the very early morning. But that’s just what you get when you’re staying 30 feet from the water in a port town :)

A quite, green and wonderful place. The owner and his wife are super friendly. We had a real great time. The owner is funny, always happy and willing to help and speak about Cambodia. He made a free tour in tuk-tuk with us. We discovered many things, including his talent as singer :-) Legendary !
