Amazing stay at Buddika, the rooms were modern, spacious and high quality. They cooked a lovely curry for our meal on arrival and organised a morning safari (with breakfast) and onward transfer. The hotel is located right by the main entrance to the safari park, and the safari itself was great with a knowledgable driver. Would highly recommend staying here

Wir waren mit unserem Aufenthalt im Buddika Safari & Resort mehr als zufrieden. Der Gastgeber war unglaublich nett, jederzeit ansprechbar und hat sich um alles gekümmert. Er hat für uns nicht nur die Safari organisiert, sondern auch weitere Aktivitäten geplant, was für uns wirklich unkompliziert und angenehm war. Auch das Essen war sehr lecker und hat uns jedes Mal sehr gut geschmeckt. Die Zimmer sind modern, großzügig und vor allem sehr sauber. Die Lage ist ebenfalls perfekt für einen Besuch im Nationalpark, der Eingang ist nur wenige Meter entfernt. Wir haben uns rundum wohlgefühlt und würden das Hotel jederzeit weiterempfehlen!

De eigenaar was zeer betrokken en vriendelijk. We kregen een upgrade naar een grotere kamer. Het licht bleek het niet te doen, en direct werd er voor een alternatief gezorgd. De safari was goed geregeld! We hebben een vriend erbij hier!

De fan aan het plafond maakte veel lawaai. We hadden hem ook niet echt nodig gelukkig

De locatie van het resort is perfect en op steenworp afstand van de ingang van Udawalawe National Park gelegen. De vriendelijke host gaf ons goede tips over wat te doen. Wij gingen op zijn advies in de avond naar het Elephant Transit Home. De volgende dag begonnen wij bij Ridiyagama Safari Park en in de middag deden wij de 3 uur safari. Dat alles was perfect. Het verzorgde ontbijt was heerlijk en de kamers waren groot, schoon en voorzien van airco! Ik kan iedereen aanraden om een verblijf bij Buddika Safari Resort te boeken.

Exceptional place for those doing the safari. Ideally located right at the entry of the park, this family run lodge is spot clean with the best attention to all your needs.. The driver Shanaka was the best - He spotted so many animals on the way and managed to find elephants before the other jeeps arrive. The kids absolutely loved it. Thank you ! Higly recommended

We stayed for 1 night at the resort and everything was truly perfect - rooms, safari, food and hosts. It was definitely a highlight of our trip!

Die Kommunikation im Vorfeld verlief absolut problemlos und unkompliziert. Besonders beeindruckt hat uns der Besitzer, der unglaublich freundlich ist und uns in einer schwierigen Situation extrem weitergeholfen hat – das wäre absolut nicht seine Pflicht gewesen und wir haben selten einen so herzlichen und hilfsbereiten Menschen kennengelernt! Allein dafür gibt es eine absolute Empfehlung. Unser Zimmer war sehr groß, modern ausgestattet und in einem absoluten Top-Zustand, und auch das Badezimmer war einfach riesig. Ein ganz besonderes Highlight ist die Terrasse nach hinten heraus, von der man mit etwas Glück früh morgens sogar wilde Elefanten im angrenzenden Feld beobachten kann. Die Unterkunft liegt strategisch perfekt ganz in der Nähe des Udawalawe-Nationalparks. Die Safari haben wir direkt über das Hotel organisiert, was absolut reibungslos ablief und eine wunderschöne Tour war. Zudem haben wir uns zu jeder Zeit rundum sicher gefühlt. Auch das Essen war top: Das inbegriffene Frühstück war klasse und obwohl wir erst sehr spät angereist sind, wurde uns noch ein frisches Abendessen zubereitet, das super lecker und preislich absolut fair war.

An der Unterkunft selbst gab es absolut nichts auszusetzen, alles war perfekt. Man sollte lediglich einplanen, dass das Resort etwas abgelegen von der eigentlichen Stadt liegt. Für die Ruhe und die Nähe zum Nationalpark ist diese Lage aber ohnehin genau richtig.

The host was very kind and helpful. He arranged a safari trip and cooked some delicious food for us, especially the homemade chili paste was the best one I had so far in Sri Lanka. Would recommend this place!

Wer eine Safari in den Udawalawa Nationalpark plant ist hier genau richtig. Die großen Zimmer, ausgestattet mit einem modernem Bad lassen keine Wünsche offen. AC, FAN, TV, Haartrockner, Wasserkocher und Warmwasser mit gutem Wasserdruck sind hier Standard. Alles sehr sauber und modern. Der Besitzer erfüllte uns jeden Wunsch und ist ausgerwöhnlich nett und hilfsbereit. Ob Frühstück oder Abendessen, alles sehr gut und liebevoll zubereitet. Wir buchten bei ihm eine Safari, die mit seinem eigenen Jeep durchgeführt wir. Auch hier alles bestens organisiert. Frühstück und Mittagsessen waren im Preis inbegriffen. Sein Fahrer war der perfekte Guide und entdeckte unglaublich viele Tiere. Sein enormes Wissen teilte er gerne mit uns. Wer eine super Unterkunf mit makellosem Service, gerade mal 2 Minuten vom Einlass des Nationalparkes sucht, wird hier fündig. Wir kommen auf alle Fälle wieder.

Kritisiert auf sehr hohem Niveau. Ein kleiner Abstelltisch auf dem Balkon wäre gut.😅😎

A perfect place to stay before safari. Located right by the entrance gate to the Park. The owner is the most wonderful person. He organized everything for us: from safari, through a massage to a trip to Galle. We could simply relax and enjoy amazing wild life. Thank you for your hospitality.

We absolutely loved our time here! Beautiful, freshly renovated property literally 200m from the entrance to Udawalawe National Park. Rooms were spotlessly clean and spacious, literally the best hotel bathroom we’ve encountered anywhere in Sri Lanka. Food was absolutely delicious, we had breakfast and dinner onsite every evening and Buddika’s wife is a fabulous cook. Buddika, the owner, went above and beyond for us at every turn, giving us a guided tour of the local temple and organising local transport/transfer to Ella on our behalf. Could not recommend this hotel highly enough, just book it :)

A very lovely stay at Buddika safari and resort. The owner was very friendly and kindly offered to bring me to the elephant transit home. They also helped us with arranging the safari and gave our breakfast in Tupperware for us to bring on the morning safari. As we were the only guests (low season) our room was kindly upgraded to a better one. The location is great as it is right next to the gate of the national park.

Buddika and his family were the most welcoming and accommodating hosts. I cannot fault them. Their hospitality, warm welcoming and making me feel like one of the family will always be memorable to me. They even arranged a birthday celebration for me, which was the kindest and most thoughtful gift 😁😭💙 This trip has meant a lot to me and having them host me for a few days, which I decided to extend due to Buddika's hospitality has meant absolutely everything to me. I couldn't recommend this place enough! The organisation of my safari was faultless and the breakfast/lunch they packed me was delicious! In fact all the food I've eaten here, cooked fresh to order has been great!

Très bien placé à l'entrée du parc national d'Uda Walawe et au calme. Chambre moderne, grande, confortable, bien équipée et avec vue sur la campagne. Personnel très attentionné et efficace : peut organiser un safari dans le parc à prix très raisonnable, avec un chauffeur expérimenté qui connaît bien les animaux : une superbe expérience ! Bon repas sur place et petit déjeuner copieux.

The room was spacious, spotlessly clean, and very comfortable, with a great shower and both a powerful aircon and fan. The location is ideal, just a two-minute drive from the entrance to Udawalawe National Park. Buddika was incredibly friendly and helpful, organising a brilliant full-day safari for me and even helping arrange a driver to my next accommodation, which made everything seamless. He also kindly allowed a late check-out so I could shower before my 2.5-hour drive to Ella - perfect after a long day on safari. Highly recommend for anyone visiting the area.

We had a fantastic stay at Buddika Safari & Resort near Udawalawe National Park. They arranged the safari for us, and the whole process was incredibly easy and smooth. We highly recommend doing a 3-hour safari. Our driver, Ravi, was amazing – very friendly, spoke excellent English, and was great at spotting and showing us wildlife. The rooms were nice and comfortable, and the food was very good. We also received a great breakfast package to bring on the safari, which we really appreciated. Everyone working there was incredibly kind and welcoming. We strongly recommend this place!

Highly recommend this place. It was clean, spacious, and well-equipped. It’s located just 5 minutes from the national park, and the host arranged everything (safari, taxi, etc.). I really enjoyed my stay!

This was a budget option to enable us to arrive at lunchtime and take part in an afternoon safari as the entrance to the safari is literally just down the road! The staff were really helpful at arranging this and even offered us lunch (sandwiches) on arrival. Our first (top) floor room was a good size. We were told that the upstairs rooms had only recently been opened up. It was clean and functional, the ensuite had hot water and a decent shower. It was curious to us as to why there was no window or fan in the bathroom as this appeared to have contributed to some mould appearing in the ceiling. We also had dinner here which was functional - and good ice cream! Staff kindly helped us to organise our onward travel to Tangalle.

We loved the park's proximity (it's just across the road), the perfect organization of the safari by our host, and the excellent breakfast after returning from the safari.

Super netter und hilfsbereiter Besitzer. Haben über ihn eine 5 Stunden Safari im Nationalpark gebucht. Hat alles super geklappt. Das Frühstück wurde uns in Aufbewahrungsboxen mitgeben. Unser Fahrer Siari war ein klasse Guide und hat uns viel erklärt. Nur zu Empfehlen. Bei der Abreise hat uns der Hotelbesitzer geholfen den Bus an der Straße anzuhalten und uns sogar einen Stuhl an die Straße gestellt, während wir gewartet haben.

Lovely new upstairs room was spacious and spotless. Our bags were taken up for us while we had a welcome cool drink and organised activities with the host for our 2 days there. That evening we went to the Elephant orphanage and the next day we chose the 8 hour Safari although we were tired after 6.5 hours so should have just done 5. It was excellent and we saw so much wildlife with the great guide our host had organised. He also took me to an atm to get cash and when the machine debited my account but didn’t give me the money he called the bank and took me to the branch and then to another atm - SO helpful !

Wir waren leider nur für eine Nacht hier aber es war so toll! Erstmal wurden wir ganz ohne Mehrkosten geupgraded was wirklich sehr freundlich war. Wir haben ein richtig leckeres Abendessen bekommen für einen super fairen Preis. Und dann wurde mit uns ganz offen über die Safari Tour und die verschiedenen Preise geredet! Wir konnten frei entscheiden. Letztlich haben wir die 5 Stunden gemacht mit Shanaka, welcher ein super Guide war! Er hat uns so viele Tiere gezeigt und viel erklärt. Also wir können diese Unterkunft nur wärmstens an jeden empfehlen!!

The place is recently renovated and nice structure. The host and his family were simply amazing, he arranged a taxi for us from Mirissa at a very convenient price. We had dinner, breakfast and lunch and loved it. He gave us tips and finally drove us to Ella because the driver canceled. He organized a safari for us at a convenient price, and the guide Shanaka was super friendly and he knew everything about the park and the elephants!! Highly recommend if you go to the park

Super Lage zum Nationalpark. Anreise am Vorabend der Safari war perfekt. Haben die Safari über das Hotel gebucht. Die 9.30 Uhr Tour war super und dann weniger los im Park. Der Manager hat sich Zeit für uns genommen und ein Zuckerrohrfeld mit uns besucht und uns zur Elefantenaufzucht gefahren. Das Zimmer war ruhig, sodass Schlaf mal nicht von Hunden o. Affen gestört wurde.

Die Einrichtung von WLAN wäre super.

Very close to the entrance of the national park (5 min walking). The staff is very kind. They also provide lunch meals and dinner, which is really good as the location is a bit far from the center and other restaurants.

We loved our stay! The staff were so friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. Just at check in they asked if we’d like dinner that night, so glad we said yes as it was delicious! Some of the best curry of our trip. The owner (sorry I can’t remember his name) was so helpful and organised our safari trip and all the timings for the next day so everything ran smoothly. We were very grateful, he also sorted us with a great safari guide called Shanaka who pointed out so much amazing wildlife! The hotel is minutes from the national park. Room was recently refurbished and really nice. Thank you!

Nothing! The hotel is a little way from Udawalawe town just as a note, but we found this no problem as it was perfect for the safari and they kindly fed us dinner!

Simple breakfast, but a good one! Our safari driver/tour guide, Shanaka, is an excellent and knowledgeable guide if you go on safari in Udalawale NP. The room is new, big, clean and has a proper hot shower. Buddika, the owner is very helpful with everything, including arranging transport to Galle. I truly recommend this place

Nothing I did not like. But I hope they accept card payment. The hotel signage is not clear at night because there is no lamp, whereas during the day it is partially hidden behind trees.

Ein wahrer Glücksgriff! Wir haben eine Nacht gebucht, um eine Safari zu machen. Wir sind früher angereist als erwartet, trotzdem wurden wir nett begrüßt und wir durften schon früher einchecken. Dann wurde eine Safari für uns organisiert, diese war wirklich großartig, ich würde empfehlen, sie über die Unterkunft zu buchen. Unser Fahrer hieß Shanaka, er hatte ein beeindruckend gutes Auge und erklärte und zeigte uns viel. Das Zimmer war auch super, es wirkte sehr neu und das Bad war das beste, was wir bisher auf unserer Reise hatten. Wir bekamen sogar ein Upgrade, weil es nicht ausgebucht war!

My stay at Buddika resort was excellent! The room was spacious and comfortable with a great hot shower. They organised a safari which was really great, the driver Shanaka ensured we had a wonderful experience with many elephant sightings. We also enjoyed the vegetarian breakfast served on our request, this place is highly recommended

We had a wonderful stay at Buddika Safari. The accommodation is extremely modern and spacious and some of the best we have stayed in during our travels in Sri Lanka. It is also perfectly placed right by the entrance to the national park. The traditional Sri Lankan curry for dinner was very tasty including Jackfuit from the garden, followed by a hearty breakfast the next morning. However what makes this place really special is Buddika who is such a welcoming host. He is always available for a chat and will offer a number of safari options provided by his guide. We departed at 1:00pm when the park was at its quietest and saw very few other jeeps in the first 90 minutes during lunchtime. As a really special touch, the next morning we had a spare hour before departing and Buddika took us on a walk through the sugar cane and rice fields behind the property explaining village life. A special stay at a fantastic property with such a caring and kind host. Highly recommended.

De locatie was super en de safari was ook fantastisch. Dankzij onze gids Shanaka pradeep hebben we een top middag gehad. Ook het hotel is super en schoon.

Sehr nah am Eingang des Nationalparks.Tolle Zimmer. Die Safari haben wir leider woanders gebucht. Safari beginnt um 06.00 Uhr und ist um ca.09.00 Uhr zu Ende. Das reicht aber es gibt keine 5 Stunden Safaris. Das Hotel ist sehr sauber und die Eigentümer super freundlich für den Preis klare Empfehlung!

Begrüßt wurden wir mit einem Getränk und konnten ein rennoviertes Zimmer beziehen. Die Unterkunft war wunderschön hergerichtet und sehr sauber. Für uns wurde auf Wunsch ein Abendessen zubereitet. Die Safari konnten wir auch zu einem fairen Preis dazubuchen. Ebenfalls waren die Gastgeber super nett. Der Fahrer der Safari Shanaka pradeep hat sich Zeit gelassen und hat ein gutes Auge, wenn es darum geht, Tiere zu spotten. Wir waren sehr zufrieden und würden beides aufjedenfall weiterempfehlen!

J’avais initialement réservé ce logement pour sa proximité avec le parc, mais c’était en réalité bien plus que ça ! Un accueil et des repas dignes d’une maison d’hôtes, on se sent vraiment les bienvenus. Le personnel était extrêmement gentil, attentionné et arrangeant. Quant au safari, absolument génial ! Tout a été organisé à notre arrivée, le lendemain la jeep nous attendait à l’heure convenue avec un délicieux petit-déjeuner à l’emporter. Un tout grand merci à Shanaka Pradeep, notre chauffeur-guide, qui nous a fait vivre une expérience fabuleuse.

Our family of five, including a 7-month-old baby, had a great safari experience, and it’s all thanks to Buddika. The accommodation was practically right next to the park, which made it so convenient for us to get started with the safari adventures without any long travels. Knowing that we had young children, Buddika arranged for a driver who was exceptionallycareful and made sure the ride was smooth and safe, even through the rougher parts of the terrain. The food was another highlight—every meal was fantastic, and we had the best curry we’ve ever tasted during our entire vacation. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a family-friendly safari!

Die Lage ist super der Natinoalpark ist nicht einmal 1min Autofahrt entfernt. Auch die gebuchte Safaritour über die Unterkunft war perfekt. Man bekommt auch ein Frühstück eingepackt für die Safaritour

We reizen inmiddels 3 weken door Sri Lanka en dit is her meest schone en ruime verblijf wat we hebben gehad! (backpackers) Erg gastvriendelijke mensen! Ze helpen je overal bij, niet is teveel! Ze zijn super aardig! We bleven een nacht voor een safari, we hebben de safari via het verblijf geregeld. Echt een aanrader!!! Kortom, fantastisch!

Sehr empfehlenswert! Der Gastgeber hat sich um alles gekümmert - von der Abholung an der Bushaltestelle über Safari bis hin zu unserer Weiterreise. Sowohl das Abendessen als auch das Frühstück waren sehr lecker und vielfältig. Die Zimmer sind frisch renoviert inklusive Bad und guter Dusche. Eine Klimaanlage und W-Lan sind ebenfalls vorhanden. Wirklich gutes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis.

Alles super!! Wir hatten einen tollen Aufenthalt inklusive einer tollen Safari, welche von der Unterkunft organisiert wurde. Die Zimmer sind toll! Fast neu, sehr sauber und tolle Ausstattung. Wir haben eine Halbtägige Safari gebucht. Unser Fahrer Shanaka pradeep zeigte uns viele Tiere und nahm sich für alles was uns interessierte viel Zeit. Ein tolles Frühstück für die Safari bekamen wir von der Unterkunft mit. Wir würden die Unterkunft mit der Safari jederzeit wieder buchen.

Tout était très bien organisé. À notre demande, le propriétaire nous avait préparé une jeep pour directement nous rendre au safari à notre arrivée. Le coût de la jeep est bien plus intéressant qu'au safari de Minneriya et le safari en lui même est plus paisible avec quantité d'animaux à voir et explication de la part du guide. Le propriétaire était à l'écoute de toute nos demandes et prêt à aider. Très bien situé pour se rendre au safari (moins de 2mn en jeep), je recommande !

Struttura nuova e molto pulita. I proprietari sono persone gentilissime e molto disponibili. Abbiamo usufruito del servizio del safari e ci siamo trovati molto bene. La camera era davvero grande, con aria condizionata, ventilatore e due balconi: da quello posteriore abbiamo visto addirittura un elefante alla mattina appena svegli! Il bagno, altrettanto bello e spazioso, aveva tutto il necessario per un soggiorno di lusso. La sera del nostro arrivo abbiamo cenato presso la struttura ed era tutto eccezionale! Anche la colazione molto abbondante e davvero buona. La struttura è adiacente all’ingresso del parco, quindi molto comoda. Consiglio a tutti questa struttura.

We loved our stay at this property! They were so friendly and helpful. They arranged our safari for us and the location is perfect, as we were just minutes from the park entrance. They gave us breakfast to take with us to the safari, which was lovely! The room was clean and spacious- it appeared to be recently renovated too. We had dinner at the property as well, which was the BEST curry we have had in Sri Lanka!

The shower was very hot and didn’t cool down much when on the cold setting.

We had a great stay, the room was simple but effective. Great working AC and there is very little noise coming from the road at night, perfect to get rest. The major selling point was the extremely welcoming host. He made sure we had lunch as we checked in, personally drove us to the baby elephant sanctuary, always checking in on us to make sure we have everything we need. He arranged our safari and our driver the morning we left. They make breakfest and dinner in house which were deliscious. The team was so kind and always wanted to let them know if you needed anything. Thank you!

Die Unterkunft ist frisch renoviert worden und somit super modern. Es ist alles sehr sehr sauber und die Ausstattung sehr gut. Das Personal ist sehr nett und macht einem alles möglich. Wurde sogar kostenlos wohin gefahren und für uns wurde eine Safari organisiert.

The room was beautiful and had everything we needed. The hosts were extremely kind and went above and beyond to accommodate us. They also organised an excellent safari for us with a brilliant driver and guide, Shabaka Pradeep, who was knowledgable about the animals and spoke great English.

We stayed here for just one night and were warmly welcomed upon arrival around midday. A spontaneous jeep safari in Udawalawe National Park was arranged for us right away – such great service! The safari was guided by Shanaka Pradeep, who was incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and knew all the best spots in the park to see animals. He even spotted the tiniest creatures – truly impressive and highly recommended! So if you book a safari through this hotel ask for him! In the evening, we had rice and curry at the hotel – absolutely delicious, authentic, and full of flavor. Breakfast the next morning was also fantastic – fresh, tasty, and plentiful. Since there was no driver available nearby for our onward journey to Mirissa, the owner kindly offered to drive us himself – so helpful and genuinely kind. Everything about our stay was excellent – highly recommended!

Rooms were spacious & comfortable

Comfortable rooms, great location just 300 m from the entrance of the park. Hospitable host who prepared for us tasty dinner, arranged us the whole safari and even prepared a delicious breakfast to go. We were the only ones who had our breakfast in the safari jeep. But the most important is the high quality of our safari guide - Shanaka pradeep. He has great intuition where to see and wait for the animals. We saw 20 elephants when there were some groups who hardly seen any elephants. It is obvious that Shanaka is a nature enthusiast, has a lot of knowledge and serves you many interesting information. Many thanks, it was an unforgettable adventure!

It was wonderful. Buddika went out of his way to make us feel comfortable and very well taken care of. The staff was super friendly and the food was just delicious!!! Also we loved the safari organised through Buddika and that he took us to the Elephant Sanctuary and for a supercool evening drink at the dam.

We were most happy with our lovely stay at Buddika. Our rooms were modern, air conditioned and quite luxurious.. which was a very pleasant surprise, after all our travels beforehand. The meals were wonderful, all our tourist and elephant safaris were great, and we have enjoyed a first rate experience. The host family are so friendly, charming and very helpful. We came for the baby elephants.. this was the best experience we could want.. and stayed a few days extra. There was so much for my wife and I to do and see.. we will be back soon. As this is my second visit to the elephants and Buddika , we aim to make it three visits as soon as we can. I thoroughly recommend this hotel, and our wonderful experience.

The host was incredibly thoughtful! Not only did he help arrange tickets, accommodation, and transportation, but he also took us to hidden spots to see wildlife and shared a wonderful dinner with us. The room was very new and the hot water was excellent—more than enough!

I absolutely loved my stay here! The room was brand new, very spacious and spotless. The location is great, only a few hundred meters from the park entrance. Buddika and his family are the most lovely people and went above and beyond to make my stay unforgettable. He organised a safari and my onward transport which was extremely helpful. His sister is an amazing cook and her curry was the best I have ever had. Highly recommended!

Everything was great, from the staff, to breakfast, safari organization. Also they allowed late check out since I didnt feel well. The owner is really friendly, they all are trying to make you feel really nice at property! Full reccomendation for this place :)

We had a fantastic stay. The hosts were kind and helpful and we had a delicious breakfast and dinner. The room was spacious, clean and had a variety of channels on the tv. We could even watch a NZ super rugby game live! Our safari was also really great and we saw a variety of animals. I highly recommend staying here!

Large comfortable and clean room, lovely welcoming family with great food. In a great location for the national park. We arranged a really good value safari through them when we arrived too which was great - our guide Shanakapradip was knowledgeable and we saw so much. Buddika arranged our onward taxi to Ella which was kind. The whole experience was hassle free.

Room was nice and clean. Great location, just few steps from the entrance to the Udawalave national park. They arranger morning safari for reasonable price and packed breakfast for us. We had car just Our driver Shanaka predeep told us lot of information about animals and plants.

Hosts were amazing. buddika and family are so helpful. They go out of their way to ensure you have an amazing time and the food is brilliant
