Auf der anderen Straßenseite konnte man Elefanten sehen. Die ganze Familie ist zuvorkommend und nett. Die Frau macht hervorragendes Frühstück und Abendessen, alles zu einem guten Preis. Der Besitzer war mein Mann für alles: Safari, Taxifahrt zum Sinharaja Regenwald und schließlich zu meiner nächsten Unterkunft. Die Safari war extrem schön, weil er sich genügend Zeit gelassen hat, so das man den Anblick genießen konnte.

Da ich alleine war und zum Ticket noch den Jeep alleine zahlte, war es für mich sehr teuer.

Wir hatten mit unseren Kindern einen wunderschönen Aufenthalt. Die herzliche Familie hat sich wundervoll um uns gekümmert, uns hervorragend bekocht, Transporte organisiert und die Safari führt der Familienvater im wunderschönen Udawalawe Park selbst durch. Wir konnten im Gegensatz zu anderen Unterkünften durch die ruhige Lage sehr gut schlafen. Der Nationalpark ist nur wenige Minuten entfernt. Morgens konnten wir von der Terrasse aus Affen, Streifenhörnchen und Vögel beobachten.

Allez-y sans hésiter si vous passez par Udawalawe ! La maison est juste à côté du parc, avec une magnifique piscine, les chambres sont parfaitement propres et bien équipées. Les repas sont délicieux (sans hésiter le meilleur rice and curry que nous avons mangé au Sri Lanka). Le propriétaire nous a organisé un Safari dans sa jeep à un très bon prix.

La piscina un lujo, perfecta. Delante de casa, con suerte puedes ver elefantes.

Das Abendessen war hervorragend! Auch das Frühstück ist sehr zu empfehlen. Beides ist optional. Die Gastgeber haben uns herzlich empfangen und waren sehr bemüht alles für uns zu tun. Wir haben mit ihnen auch die Nachmittagssafari in Udawalawe gemacht, die uns sehr sehr gut gefallen hat. Am Abend unserer Ankunft konnten wir einen Elefanten am Zaun vom Nationalpark sehen, der sich direkt gegenüber der Unterkunft befindet. Die Zimmer sind sehr einfach, aber das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis passt. Der Pool ist sehr schön, mit Abendbeleuchtung und Massagedüsen. Er ist jederzeit nutzbar. Wir, eine Familie mit 3 Kindern zwischen 16 und 20, haben den Aufenthalt sehr genossen.

Les hôtes ont été d’une gentillesse incroyable. Le mari nous a organisé un super safari et sa femme nous a préparés des bons plats pour le dîner et le petit déjeuner. Piscine très belle. Très belle vue sur le parc. Je recommande ☺️

This place is right opposite the park (we saw elephants from the balcony) and only 5 minutes drive from the main entrance which is perfect for safari. Nalaka and his family are very welcoming and kind. He took us on a wonderful 3 hour safari- we saw lots of animals and beautiful birds and he let our children borrow his binoculars which they loved. His wife cooks delicious food (which is very reasonably priced). The room is also great value and practical for a one night stay. The wifi is excellent.

Super fijne mensen. De man organiseert zelf de safari. Erg mooi NP! Tijdens de safari rustig alle dieren kunnen bekijken met respect voor de olifanten die erg dichtbij kwamen. De vrouw maakte na de middag safari een heerlijke Sri Lankaanse maaltijd. Zeer uitgebreid met verschillende currys en fruit. Ontbijt idem dito. Bij vertrek kreeg mijn zoon nog een zakje met chips en koekjes mee voor onderweg. De locatie ligt aan de rand van het park, wat afgelegen. Maar voor 1 of 2 nachten prima te doen. Ze regelen alles voor je en er is een zwembad.

The room and bathrooms were clean and neat. The owners prepared breakfast and dinner for us. They were amazing. A lot of different dishes and they also took the needs of my young child into account. AC works Very well. The swimming pool is really fun. We also went on Safari in Udawalawe national park with the owner. We saw a lot of animals and he was a secure driver. Excellent experience!

Los anfitriones eran muy amables y te ayudaban en todo. El desayuno era contundente y estaba riquísimo. Además nos ofrecieron llevarnos al Parque Nacional de Udawalawe por muy buen precio que incluía entrada y el jeep. Al momento del check out nos dieron un detallito que nos encantó.

Provided udawalawe safari and exceptional food

Nalaka and his family were the best hosts - kind, friendly, helpful, attentive, and made us feel most welcome and looked after. The pool was a highlight, and they own their own jeep, so we were able to easily head out on Safari with them, which is only 5 minutes down the road. The spreads of local food they provide are incredible - lots to try and cooked to perfection. Rooms are basic, but do the job. However the location, terrace and pool area make it a special place to visit. Fantastic stay and completely stress free, highly recommend.

Drains a little smelly in bathroom, but to be expected when out in the sticks! Water pressure also lacking.

Great stay with a fantastic family taking care of us. They picked us up all the way from Ella, made us a delicious spread for dinner and took us on a 6 hour safari!

Eine Unterkunft mit Herz!! So eine herzliche Familie, die uns empfangen hat wie ihre eigene Familie! Es wurde auf alle Wünsche eingegangen & auch die Safari Tour war perfekt organisiert. Unbedingt dort Essen! Es wird frisch und authentisch gekocht! Erstklassig!!

De uitzicht van op het terras op het nationaal park, waarbij we zowel bij diner als ontbijt een olifant zagen! Daarnaast was het eten verrukkelijk en heeft de host ons geholpen bij onze reizen van en naar het verblijf en met een safari. Een heerlijk zwembad ook nog, tegen een hele scherpe prijs.

Wir haben eine Nacht hier verbracht, um eine Safari im Udawalawe-Nationalparkt zu machen. Die Unterkunft liegt nicht weit vom Eingang des Nationalparks, was uns sehr gut gefallen hat. In die Stadt Udawalawe und zum Elephant Transit Home hingegen dauert es mit dem Auto circa 15 Minuten. Die Unterkunft ist eine von wenigen in der Region mit Pool, der unseren Kindern gut gefallen hat, auch wenn er etwas milchig war. Unser Vierbettzimmer wahr sehr klein, wir konnten nicht mal alle Koffer öffnen. Bei dem günstigen Preis passt das aber. Leider gab es in unserem sehr einfachen Bad einige Wespen, die nachts sehr aktiv waren, wenn man das Licht im Bad angemacht hat. Dagegen muss unbedingt etwas getan werden. Wir haben unser Frükstück nach der Safari zu uns genommen. Es war ganz gut. Das Abendessen war lecker. Die Safari hat der Eigentümer der Unterkunft mit uns gemacht und war super. Da die Unterkunft nah am Nationalparkeingang liegt und wir schon um 5:45h los sind, waren die einer der ersten Jeeps.

Tout était parfait. Nous avons été chaleureusement accueillis. Nous sommes arrivés tard la veille et nous avons pu dîner et profiter de la piscine. Notre hôte a organisé notre safari qui sera sans doute un des meilleurs souvenirs de notre séjour. À notre retour nous avons pu manger un délicieux petit déjeuner à un prix très raisonnable et rester à la piscine aussi longtemps que nécessaire pour nous rafraîchir. La chambre était propre, confortable et climatisée. Notre petite fille de 4 ans s'est même vue offrir un cadeau à notre départ. Absolument rien à redire si ce n'est merci pour tout ! ❤️

Die Familie war unglaublich freundlich und hilfsbereit. Die Betten groß und gemütlich und der Pool bei der Wärme sehr angenehm. Die Safari, die wir mit dem Mann der Pension gemacht haben, war fantastisch. Und wir konnten uns sogar Räder leihen. Um ein bisschen die Gegend zu erkunden - dabei haben wir bereits einen Elefant getroffen. Das hausgemachte Essen war sehr lecker. Die Inhaber haben uns dann sogar noch nach Ella gebracht und mit uns einen Stop beim Arzt gemacht, da meine Tochter Ohrenschmerzen hatte. Vielen Dank!!

Chambre d’hôtel sommaire, peu d’équipement (ancien, paroi de douche cassée), manque d’endroit pour se détendre (canapé, transat ou autre). L’hôtel propose l’excursion a Udawalawe Park ce qui est pratique; mais sentiment que l’ambiance est très business.

Le safari organisé par l'hôte était parfait. La piscine était propre et grande, donc très apprécié par nos enfants. Puisque l'hébergement est un peu loin de tout, nous avons mangé là quelques fois et les repas étaient copieux. L'hébergement, par contre, est directement de l'autre côté de la route du Parc et nous avons vu un éléphant faire sa douche depuis le balcon de l'auberge!

Clean room, comfortable beds, air conditioning, and a spotless bathroom. There’s also a lovely pool where you can relax while black-faced monkeys play in the trees—unwinding there after a safari is truly priceless. They organized our safari in the national park. The husband drove the jeep and was excellent at spotting animals, sharing interesting information, and always positioning the vehicle perfectly for viewing. We chose the 4-hour tour, which felt more than enough given the road conditions and the size of the park, though they also offer 7- and 12-hour options. Two small downsides: the owners were a bit pushy about safari duration and meals, and while the food (we had one lunch and one dinner) was delicious, it was slightly repetitive. The location is perfect for safaris—we even saw an elephant right in front of the hotel in the afternoon—but it’s quite far from the city, with only a few restaurants nearby.

The family who own the villa are so kind, helpful & welcoming. They cooked us home- cooked Sri Lanka meals for breakfast, lunch & dinner- it was delicious! The pool area is fabulous. We also booked the safari with our hosts and it was amazing. Definitely recommend staying here if you plan on visiting Udawalawa National Park.

Absolutely exceptional value for money. The hosts are so friendly and cooked us the most delicious dinner. You are very close to Udawalawe national Park and they can arrange a safari for you also. The swimming pool is a lovely added bonus.

Fabulous location - close to the national Park, the best pool that we found on our stay in Sri Lanka and lovely welcoming family and delicious food! The safari and transport organised by the team were exemplary!

It was very warm and humid plus we had a flu-type bug so suggest consider requesting an A/C room if you might struggle with the heat - ours didn’t have A/C nor insect screens so we were a little warm at night without the ability to open the windows but other rooms did have A/C

Ons verblijf was fantastisch! Een 10 wat ons betreft. Allereerst de gastvrijheid van Naleka, zijn vrouw Shiwanti en hun zoons. Zij zorgden met hun warmte voor een heerlijk verblijf en ze waren superlief voor onze kinderen. Ook lekker praktisch, ze hebben hun eigen winkeltje dus je kunt gewoon van alles ter plekke kopen qua (basis) boodschappen. Daarnaast, als je hier verblijft, dan kan Naleka je ook een safari aanbieden. Aansluitend kun je afkoelen in hun zwembad, dat is zeker na een warme safaridag echt een groot pluspunt. Na het zwemmen kun je heerlijk avondeten, Shiwanti en haar hulp maken een uitgebreid lokaal diner voor je (en ‘s ochtends ontbijt natuurlijk). Naleka heeft trouwens zelf een jeep en zal je meenemen het park in. Het park zelf is relatief rustig qua jeeps waardoor je niet in de rij staat als er bijv een olifant gespot wordt. Wij komen op zeker terug, dank voor ons topverblijf. Zie foto’s.

Wir hatten einen rundum gelungenen Aufenthalt. Für uns wurde ein Fahrer zu einem guten Preis ab Ella organisiert. Als wir ankamen wurden wir herzlich empfangen und der Eigentümer hat auch die Safari am Nachmittag mit uns gemacht. Die war wirklich klasse und er hat alles gegeben um uns eine gute Sicht auf Elefanten, Krokodile etc. zu geben. Abends und morgens konnte man gegen Aufpreis im Homestay essen - das war wirklich sehr lecker. Die Eigentümerin war auch so herzlich und hat uns viel über Sri Lanka und das Leben in Udawalawa erzählt. Wer eine familiäre Atmosphäre haben möchte ist hier genau richtig. Vielen Dank!

Great care from the staff. They drove us to the place from Ella, prepared us the best curry for the dinner, as well as great lunch and breakfast. Managed the Udawalawe safari for us. Perfect pool. Rooms are basic.

Owner (moms), made a delicious dinner with lots of different curry options (1800/person). She also kept trying to give me snacks from their shop which was nice haha. Very kind owners, you can tell. The pool is a great feature as well! Bed and pillows were comfy, shower had good pressure.

It’s far from town (20min drive), they’ll help you organize a tuktuk but you can’t really walk anywhere.

The family that owns Peacock Villa are wonderful people who helped us organize a safari, get tuk tuks into town and even flag down a bus when we were leaving. The hotel was clean and the pool was perfect in the hot weather. The location is a bit far from town but the benefit is the nearby wildlife. We saw monkeys playing in the trees and an elephant hung around right across the street for a half hour. We loved it here and would recommend to anyone.

Pool war milchig. Wir haben drei sehr laute Knalle gehört, wovon wir uns sehr erschreckt haben. Die in der Buchung genannten Pflegeprodukte waren (mit Ausnahme von Handseife) nicht vorhanden.

Lovely staff and amazing food (both breakfast and dinner). The bathroom floor was very slippery because the sink was leaking so be careful as we slipped a couple of times. Great location if you want to do Udawalawe safari but there's not anything else nearby so keep that in mind.

Amazing location just down from safari park. The family are so very friendly and very welcoming ! They went above and beyond so that I had a comfortable stay! There is a great big new pool that they have built recently- great place to relax and enjoy a swim ! He is a driver and you can get your safari tickets thru them .

The family who runs this accommodation were so lovely. The room was comfortable and the food they prepared for each meal was delicious. The owner was our driver for the safari which was an incredibly experience.

Die Unterkunft war sehr zufriedenstellend. Die Safari, sowie auch Taxifahrten für die Ankunft und/oder Weiterreise kann man über die Gastgeber Familie organisieren lassen. Das Frühstück, sowie Abendessen kann man bei der Familie gegen kleine Aufpreise bestellen, dafür bekommt man aber ein vielfältiges und mit viel Liebe zubereitetes Gericht. Die Unterkunft verfügt über einen kleinen Shop bei dem man Wasser und Snacks kaufen kann. Mit ein wenig Glück sieht man sogar Elefanten von der grossen Terrasse aus.

The hosts are very friendly. The parents and their children run the place together. The service and food is delicious. The location is also perfect for visiting the Udawalawe National Park. The place is literally across a road from the park. The pool is quite clean and well-maintained.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Peacock Villa. The room, the food and other facilities like the pool were great. We also did the safari with the owners of the villa. We did 12 hours of the safari and we saw many different animals, and you can also book breakfast and lunch at the safari, which was a big plus!:) Overall really enjoyed our stay!

Die Familie, die diese Unterkunft betreibt, ist unglaublich freundlich und kümmert sich wirklich um alles. Man sollte sich auf keinen Fall das selbstgekochte, sehr leckere und reichhaltige Dinner entgehen lassen. Wir geben hier zehn Punkte, weil wir darum gebeten wurden, da es aufgrund einer schlechten, falschen Bewertung zu einem so schlechten Durchschnitt kommt, dass seltener gebucht wird. Die Ausstattung ist einfach, was bei dem sehr günstigen Preis aber auch nicht anders zu erwarten ist.

When we arrived at the accommodation, we were warmly welcomed with a drink, and the owners kindly made us lunch on short notice before our safari. We felt very comfortable at that point.

Like everyone on these reviews we were transported both ways, did a couple of great safaris, enjoyed the sensational food and admired the elephants wandering by from the comfy verandah. All the prices are very reasonable and the room is very clean. It is people like this family that make Sri Lanka such a joy to travel in.

The location is perfect for the safari. Nalaka organised it all for us and took it out and it was a great time. All the food was home cooked for us and was absolutely delicious. Everyone was really nice and generous to us. There's a lovely balcony to spend your evening on and spot some wildlife.

We are a family of 4 & we stayed for 1 night. The host family were lovely, they organised everything for us, picked us up from Ella, took us on safari, made us a delicious dinner, an amazing breakfast and took us onto our next stay in Arugam Bay, all for a really, really good price. The accommodation was spotlessly clean & so comfortable. The highlight was elephants walking down the road when we were eating breakfast! Honestly can’t recommend this place enough.

Ich habe einen Leguan in dem tollen Garten gesehen. Der Besitzer führt selbst die Safari durch und ist ein ruhiger, angenehmer Begleiter, der sehr viele Tiere schnell erkennt und bestimmen kann.

Die Unterkunft liegt direkt an der Straße zum Park; das ist etwas laut, hat aber den Vorteil, dass man schnell im Park ist.

Das Peacock Villa Resort liegt direkt am Udawalawe Nationalpark. Wir haben eine Nacht dort verbracht und auch die 7-stündige Safari gebucht. In der Unterkunft wurden wir super herzlich und mit einem Welcome-Drink empfangen. Etwas später gab es dann mit dem authentischen Abendessen ein erstes Highlight. Wir hatten hier eine riesige Auswahl an typischem Essen aus Sri Lanka, die Familie hatte das Essen in stundenlanger Vorbereitung für uns gekocht. Auch die Safari war wahnsinnig toll. Wir haben nicht nur viele Tiere gesehen und vom Fachwissen unseres Guides profitiert, sondern auch ein leckeres Frühstück mit selbstgemachten Backwaren im Nationalpark bekommen. Außerdem wurde die Safari sogar noch um eine halbe Stunde verlängert, damit wir noch mehr Elefanten sehen konnten. Sogar bei der Weiterreise und dem Transport hat die Familie uns ihre Hilfe angeboten. Insgesamt war die Familie einfach genuin gastfreundlich und hat uns herausragend bei sich empfangen. Ich kann diese Unterkunft plus Safari nur jedem empfehlen. Der Aufenthalt war ein absolutes Highlight unserer Reise!

The family was incredibly kind, and the room was spacious and spotless. We booked one night and ended up staying two. We saw elephants right from the balcony, and we also booked the 7-hour safari with them, we saw so many animals: elephants, buffaloes, crocodiles, peacocks, monkeys, eagles, foxes, deer, and even a snake! We had the best time here and really didn't want to leave, hehe. I also recommend eating here - dinner was absolutely amazing and there was A LOT of food. Thanks again for having us in your home!

We stayed at The Peacock Villa Resort and absolutely loved our time here! It’s a simple, clean, and comfortable room with air conditioning and hot water perfect for what we needed. It’s owned by a lovely local family who made our stay so memorable. The real highlight was the hospitality. Nakala and his wife were incredible. She cooked us a huge, delicious homemade dinner for just $10 AUD (one of the best meals we had in Sri Lanka!) They also organised a full-day private safari for us that went for around 7 hours and even included breakfast. We saw elephants, crocodiles, buffalo, monkeys, and so much more. It was such a magical experience especially because we could even spot wild elephants from the balcony of our accommodation! Nakala picked us up from Ella and also drove us to our next destination. His pricing was always lower than PickMe or Uber, and he was so genuine and reliable that we ended up using him and his friends for all our transport needs for the rest of our trip. We truly felt so looked after and would 100% recommend this stay to anyone looking for an authentic and welcoming experience in Sri Lanka.
