The property was really beautiful, especially the gardens surrounding the rooms. The room itself was clean and had everything you could need. We only stayed for one night as a stopover on our drive from Ficksburg to Hermanus, but would definitely recommend this place.

Only feedback is the number on the site needs to be updated. We had a Tyre burst due to which we were going to arrive much later at the property, a couple of hours after check in would close. I tried contacting the host via booking.com, email, and by calling on the number on the booking.com website to no avail. And for many hours there we had no idea if we’d even be able to check in or have an accommodation for the night, which was quite stressful. However, when we got to the property, thankfully there was a number posted on the outside which I WhatsApped and got an immediate respond from the host letting us in. We really appreciated her being so responsive and attentive. So no harm done, just updating the number on the site would avoid any issues in the future for other guests.

Winter warm blankets, beautiful bathroom with holes in the roof, we loved it. Very friendly host.

Excellent location, superb host!, secure parking, All-Round luxury accommodation. Highly recommended.

Everything was amazing. Great food, awesome vibe, and a very comfy bed and stay. So glad they were able to accomodate our two lively dogs as well.

Room has no windows, dust on everything, toilet door broken doesnt close, towel rack hanging on 'mercy', headboard of the bed stuck into wall with loose screws - it almost fell off the wall...the place is incredibly neglected, dead plants all around the place...and NO there isnt a 'restaurant'...the only place to eat is in town...honestly this place needs to be charging R650 per night...NOT R1400. The advertisement is NOT what one gets...its uncredibly misleading, which angered us the most!!!

The owner. The space - it’s beautiful- spacious. Kids played in the yard. Each unit has AC units- which you don’t find in all places.

Magical little oasis with the most wonderful hostess, Edith. Perfect for an overnight stay en route to Cape Town. I found the bed a little bit uncomfortable but maybe that was just me. Amazing lookout spot to chill and have a sundowner and delicious dinner prepared by Edith. We will definitely stay again!

We were travelling with pets en route to the coast and Edith was helpful, engaging & practical. We didn’t have dinner there but regretted it as it looked fabulous.

Literally everything- especially the plants and the two jack russels and the creativity of the architect. A mix of Greece, Morocco & Spain!

Exquisite! Every plant, every decoration, every picure has been deliberately placed to create this gorgeous place. Inspirational! Edith is wonderful and welcoming and we had a really relaxing time. Will recommend it 100%!!! Stunning!

Die Anlage ist sehr bunt mit viel Deko verschiedenster Art ausgestattet, allerdings merkt man, das die Gebäude alt sind und die Renovierung nicht mit letzter Qualität gemacht wurde.

It was the second time I have stayed there and it was as good as the first. Edith is an amazing host and the place itself is so quaint and authentic, she has put her heart and soul into the guest house and it truly is a home away from home. We love going there and pets are always welcome. Edith is very accommodating and goes out her way to ensure her guests are looked after. Would definitely recommend staying there. For me there is nothing not to like. I like everything about the place , from the host to the rooms to the bathrooms, everything suites my requirements.

Character of the room. We stayed in Freddy Mercury. It felt very secure inside the gate and proximity to Karoo NP was ideal for us.

Edith the owner of Villa Contessa is very hospitable and has created what is perhaps the most unique guesthouse in South Africa with Villa Contessa. She is also an excellent cook. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
