No parking outside your door. Seems other ppl were using it. Toaster wasn’t working. No bin liners or tea bags. Curtain rail in upstairs was literally hanging on. Looks like apartment was lived in but needed a revamp.

Reviewed Jun 22, 2026Easy enough to to pick up the keys. I had emailed ahead that I had my dog with us but the receptionist didn’t know about it and charged us 40 euro for our dog to stay. Townhouse was old, run down and totally out dated!!! Also…check out was meant to be 10am (already very early) there was a worker banging on the door at 9:50 to come and check the property!! Happy to take your money but totally happy to kick you out too!! Wouldn’t stay again!

It was very unclear where the property actually was, particularly when we had to walk almost a kilometre with our baggage to pick up the keys, then turn around and walk back even further to the property itself. More clear directions in the listing would make it easier for travellers to check in, particularly when travelling by coach.

Extra seat required in living room as there really as only room for 4 people and we had 5 people. The string in shower in 2nd bedroom was broke and unless we got a chair nobody could reach it to work the shower.

Reviewed Aug 24, 2024We loved our stay here. With two boys (8 and 11) things were perfect. There was a relaxed, used feel about the place that made it homely and easy to relax. The views of the sea were wonderful. We loved the steps down to the rock pools and at night, at full tide, the sound of the sea below was so nice.

Reviewed Aug 23, 2024Amazing View, can’t stress that enough - worth every penny for that and the location was quiet and close to everything. In general clean - nice shower, good TV, comfy sofas, really hot water when needed.
Wee bit dated, the bed was very springy, like a waterbed - some people may love that so that’s minor. Kitchen is a bit dated and when we came in there was still a few tea stains and crumbs from toast on the workshop. All minor honestly- great for a wee family who were out and about most of the time

There were very little cleaning supplies. 1 bin bag for a 2 night stay five people. 1 roll of loo paper per toilet. But it’s a very small annoyance. Just make sure you bring or buy some extra.

Reviewed Apr 16, 2024It’s an old town house and the ocean view was amazing. The furniture was old and occupied most of the space in the living room. One toilet was nice and the master was small but It’s manageable. It’s a quite area and nothing around other then relaxing. The kitchenette was ok. Hot water was not an issues. Beds were not very comfortable but ok. Parking was definitely an advantage and visible from the room.
The heating was not enough and was old system. Utensils were old and scratched so was the water kettle and the oven hood.

It was what we expected from the description and price, except we were disappointed with the basics that weren't included to make our arrival more comfortable - please see what we didn't like. Staff were very cooperative with dropping the key off to a location as we were unable to collect from the office during opening times.
No basic extras that you expect such as a few tea bags, coffee, sugar, salt, pepper, more than one toilet roll etc. It would've made us feel more settled on arrival. In addition, thin curtains which made sleep difficult when it would be simple to have black-out curtains. One of the bedroom lights didn't work and the TV didn't work, so maybe check them before a new booking. We did enjoy our stay though because of the location, living space, cleanliness and helpful staff.

The most expensive and unaccommodating place I have ever stayed with my husband and dog. £342.00 for one Friday night at the end of August, plus a refundable deposit, plus extra for the very well behaved dog. My husband was refused permission to use the bathroom when we went to the office to pick up the key. We had driven from Achill Island to get there for a time which had to be specified in advance. Drier didn’t work and wet clothes had to be hung all around the place to dry. We couldn’t get the dishwasher to work and washed dishes by hand. The house was not inspected before we paid a deposit and we were worried that we might have to pay for the cracked bath panel, loose toilet seat and chipped worktop in Kitchen. It transpired that we did not have to pay for this previously done damage. We had to be out by 10.00am which was ridiculous considering the cost for one night and we could not check in until 3.00pm the previous day. Cleaners who turned up at 10.00am exactly were pleasant and accommodating, unlike the office staff.

Could have been more towels, toilet paper. Had to leave security deposit of €150 and can be held for up to 3 weeks. Difficult to park right outside door as others parked in space. Seems only one space outside for each house. Remote control of digital tv was taped up but still didn’t work.

Bed wasn't overly comfy, lightbulbs missing in numerous lamps, couldn't get drier to work. Usually peat/logs etc and firelighters provided by host.

It was an amazing upgrade to a detached holiday house with spacious and fully equipped accommodation, fantastic friendly & helpful staff and a lovely scenic location right by the coast with a coastal path walk nearby which takes you into Bundoran itself. We highly recommend Portbeg Holiday Homes!

Oven didn't work and had to throw out 50e worth of food but man came next day and replaced which was great.. washing machine didn't work either. Which was a pain with a fam of 5 staying for 5days. Very old appliances.
