It is a wonderful house, if you are looking to connect with nature this is the ideal since it is far from everything and it feels that you connect with nature
The coziness and surroundings
The charm of the place and it’s history
Nothing really apart from a little off the beaten track but easy to find
Beautiful cottage for a family in a lovely location! We really appreciated all the personal touches (thanks for the spare toothbrush - it came in handy just in time!) and had a great night's sleep in the comfy rooms. Mary had excellent local information available about sights and places to eat - we had a wonderful dinner at Moran's! Thank you, Mary, for a lovely stay 😊

Spacious clean and had everything you need

We thought the place was charming and the hosts were very kind and accommodating. It’s an old place so it was rustic. They use a lot of peel and stick wall paper which to me just adds to a bit of it kitschy charm, but something to note if that seems like it may not be for you. There were so many extra amenities. The two beds were comfortable but (as is to be expected) the pullout wasn’t too amazing for an adult. Our 6 year old said it was AMAZING though. Thanks for the stay and we greatly appreciate the hospitality as well.
It has a bit of a smell. It is an old place in the country so this isn’t unexpected. All in all not much to complain about here. As mentioned above there’s lots of peel n stick wall paper. No biggie for us but good to note as photos could be deceiving.
It’s uniqueness and quaintness. Simply a beautiful place for a peaceful stay. Thank you so very much!
Nothing at all!
La casa era gran, estava molt ben decorada i tenia detalls per TOT arreu
Daffodil Lodge is a haven of tranquility the host is most attentive and hospitable
Nothing
So quaint, lots of character and absolutely loved how its history was documented in the house.
There was nothing not to like,
The cottage is very quaint and beautiful. Lots of attention to detail. Stunning location. Loads of supplies provided with the reservation like fresh milk, bread, cheese, sausages, bacon in the fridge, tea and coffee, seasoning, snacks etc. Also loads of bathroom supplies. The TV is not a smart TV, but they provided a DVD player and a selection of fun DVD's which we loved.
One bathroom is a little restrictive. The bathroom is downstairs and the bedrooms are upstairs. Stairs are very steep, so needed to be addressed with care. Were also quite a lot of resident spiders and cobwebs - but it would be expected due tot he rural location.
We had fantastic stay in this cottage .It was very cosy full of lovely details and in a very peaceful area..I would recommend it and I hope that I will be able to experience it again. Mary, the host was so helpful and thoughtful. She filled the fridge with all the goodies for breakfast, there was everything and anything your soul would desire. Even overnight oats, free rane eggs, sausages and rushers ,bread,3 type of different milk and etc.I have never experienced anything like it.It was just amazing.Full stock of essentials in the bathroom, even Epson salts. The heating was turned on and the cottage was cosy and warm.Thank you very much,Mary to look after your guests so well.

The fridge was full of delights - very, very, happy
All was great
The location, characterful, quirkiness, very generous supply of everything. Personalised notes and a gift bag-thank you Mary
Steep staircase
I was particularly thrilled by the top sheets. We haven't been getting those much on our trip.
I'd give the shower pressure a 6 out of 10.
Fantastic location nice and peacful. House was very clean and comfortable. Mary is a grest host and nade us feel right at home and even left presents for our kids. Cant thank her enough. Definetly onr of the best places we stayed.
Was nothing we didnt like everything was perfect
Everything was just lovely!!! Beautiful peaceful tranquil setting...some milk and breakfast provisions left by host. Very welcoming!! Will definitely hope to return again and stay a little longer. Absolutely idyllic beautiful part of the country and tucked away off the beaten track but easy to get to at same time from main N4.
Nothing at all!! All was spot on!! Thanks!!
Mary was so lovely, had a wonderful package on arrival and had great attention to detail. Made me and my friends feel so welcome!!
Nothing was bad :)
Bel endroit très calme
I loved every aspect of this property. Beautiful home, gorgeous area surrounding the property, incredible host who went above and beyond for us. Truly the best stay I’ve had
Shower was a bit difficult to figure out as someone who came from the US.
Quaint little old cottage in idyllic countryside setting. All required amenities were provided. Friendly, helpful manager. No real surprises.
20 minutes out of town was worse than i expected. The stairs are small & steep making draging a big suitcase upstairs to the bedroom difficult.
It was peacefull in a great location
Notting the house was great will be back again
Lovely cottage. Thoughtful touches from host Mary
Bathroom downstairs. Stairs very narrow and steep
Decoration, we felt like in fairy tale😍
Mary is the best host I had on Booking. I wish I didn't have to travel for work and enjoy more that beautiful place. She puts so much work in making your stay unique. I look forward to come back.
Loved it! We came all the way from Michigan and this helped us relax so much! Thank you, Mary!
Everything was PERFECT! Above and beyond!
The care that Mary put in making us feel welcome. The lodge is a jewel, and kept brilliantly. Nice welcoming pack , food , and cozy atmosphere :)
The host made it easy to organise check in, key collection and was very easy to communicate with. The house was very clean and warm on arrival. There were lots of thoughtful touches throughout the house which really improved our stay. It is close to Sligo itself and was perfect for exploring all the hikes around the area. We will be back!

The whole stay was just 10/10. Very aesthetic, very pretty, awesome experience. I really loved the whole stay.
Nothing. Everything is just 10/10 there
A beautiful quaint house with cosy furnishings and quirky ornaments. The host Mary couldn't have been more helpful and even set up an Easter egg hunt for my kids. Plenty of snacks, games and dvds, couldn't recommend the place more!
Lovely location - the village is only 2km away and has 2 amazing pubs - we had a great night with the locals and amazing hospitality from both pubs. Would definitely return to see the locals again and bar staff! Sligo is only a short drive away and 2 beaches. The weather let us down on the Sunday as our plans had to be axed but we shall return during the Summer.
I wanted a bath on arrival as l fell into the water at Rosses Point!! But the hot water ran out when the bath was quarter full and the electric shower wouldn’t stay hot!! The property was quite cold despite heating being on. The problem is all the heat escapes so we had to avail of electric heaters to keep cosy. Other than that everything was lovely - although the property - inside and out could do with some money spent on it - it has so much potential to be amazing.
Comfortable, clean, quiet, good wifi
Location was perfect for our needs. Great sleep in an area that’s completely dark and silent. There was a horse in the field behind the house when we arrived! The lodge is dog-friendly which we really appreciated. Thoughtful setup. Provided coffee, tea, fresh milk, breakfast ingredients, and snacks— even for the dog!
The radiators don’t work. Instead, space heaters are available. They are only in some rooms; not all. There is no heat in the bathroom. The living room and bedroom heaters work fine, eventually, but the kitchen heater is inadequate. I understand it’s an old house and heating options are limited, but I’m including this because I would have liked to have known this in advance. For a January stay, this was a disappointment. And other reviewers mentioned the steep and slanting stairs.
We had the most beautiful stay at Daffodil Lodge. The house is full of charm, history, and the sweetest details — you can truly feel the love that went into every corner. Waking up to mountain views, quiet mornings, and even rainbows made the experience unforgettable. Mary, our host, was absolutely wonderful — so kind, quick to respond, and genuinely thoughtful, making sure we were comfortable throughout our stay. The lodge felt warm, peaceful, and incredibly welcoming. One of our favourite trips so far, and we highly recommend it to anyone looking for a dreamy, cosy escape.
No complaints except the shower (felt a bit difficult to adjust the heat )
The pin kode wrong
Lovely little cottage, very quaint, lots of character…
Nothing….
You can tell the host had put an awful lot of effort into it and loved all the extra bits and pieces like the toiletries etc.
It was in quite a rural area so it was at least a 20 minute drive to any main town.
We felt so welcomed at this property, it was exactly what we were looking for as we toured Ireland.
Merci.
RAS
Lovely cottage in the countryside, lots of added cosy touches.
Was a lovely area and the breakfast items left in the fridge were a lovely touch.
No proper cooking facilities adequate for 4 people. There was a 2 hob camping stove and a tiny portable oven that had no instructions. Air fryer was a good add as we had to cook everything in that and space is very limited in the kitchen. The stairs were very steep - but it was an old cottage but think that needs to be made clearer. Some of the lights downstairs weren't working but the owner did offer to come and sort them, and then at night there is a sensor light at the top of the stairs which was continously flicking on and off all night. The bedrooms seemed had a lot of personal items in them such as clothes in a wardrobe that had been tied shut and the drawers had little personal items in them - almost like we were staying in someone's bedroom that had moved out for the night. The bathroom was like an add on room with no real wall and the wallpaper was bubbling .Was very quirky.
This cottage was amazing. It was incredibly well appointed, anticipating any possible need we may have. The fridge was stocked with everything we needed for a full Irish breakfast as well as all the other things such as coffee, tea, spices, and cooking implements. All the rooms were decorated beautifully and we found new and interesting things at every turn. The setting a little way out of town made it feel like we were having a true country experience.
Nothing
Lovely cottage, cute decorations all around the house and little quotes with farm storries, restaurants and trips recommendations around Sligo. Nice and quiet nature around and it's an easy drive to find this place. Host Mary was so lovely and kind she made my sister's birthday special by leaving her a decoration and birthday present and snacks 🥰 Very kind touch, great communication. Me and my family felt very welcomed and cosy and she prepared groceries for our breakfast. Everything was available to use in bathroom, kitchen and fridge. We used the kitchen facilities for cooking family dinner and breakfast had a very lovely stay. Thank you again 💗☘️
Missed kitchen knife 🤭
I loved the quirky bits that mirrored well with the old style of the house. Fantastic host and great little town only 2 minutes down the road. Snacks, breakfast and communication with the host, all top notch! Oh and the setting is just stunning!
The living room has an electric fire, just not a personal taste of mine. If it was feasible for a fire, stove or even one of those bioethanol stove - the ascetics of an actual fire would just top this place off! So it’s not a negative, just an ideal 🙂
It is a great cosy home worth the stay and everything is left for you.Thank you Mary
It has all the stuff that you may need during your stay. It really feels like an old Irish grandma’s house. Those who enjoys history (house was built back in 1918 and renovated), quiet living, will enjoy this place.
The location is too far for our liking. It is 20mins to town center. The old house is not suitable for our group (an elderly and a kid). The bedroom is upstairs while the bathroom is downstairs.
2 couples and each of us loved the house. Quiet location in rural Ireland. The contents for a good Irish breakfast were in the fridge etc. This was very much appreciated... a sign of a generous host. Thank you.
Somewhat quirky cottage but comfortable. Appreciated many homely touches and the snacks provided. Breakfast items provided were good
Quaint pretty cottage, clean, comfortable and quite unique.
Cute decor
There was moldy/mildew smell that made me sneeze immediately with air freshener to try and mask the odor , we left 15 minutes after arriving I am highly allergic to it so can't make it up Let the host know about it , response was I was there this morning and did not smell anything If you want a super rustic out in the middle of nowhere with a old musty smell with super cute decor this is the place for you to stay
舒適
We stayed in this beautiful cottage, loved every minute, Mary our host left nothing out she stocked the fridge and little snack bar..it was so clean and beds were so comfortable..we would love to book it again
We didn't stay longer ha
Mary and Daffodil Lodge are treasures. I cannot recommend this Lodge enough . It is such a beautiful home so beautifully decorated with an enchanting vibe. Super comfortable and spacious and so clean. Mary has thought of everything that you would need. So if you forget to bring something,Mary probably has it in the house waiting for you. She even had a fry up the next morning, if we wanted it!!! Just so thoughtful. No issue with contacting her and very happy to help out with any questions. 10/10 for us and please god we will get.the chance to visit again.
It was in a quiet location and easy to find. Mary is a wonderful communicator and also left little personal notes that were nice. There were a lot of goodies left around the house which were appreciated. The bedrooms were decorated and you can tell that the host has a lot of love and nostalgia for the house as she explains on a plaque. The house has been in her family for a few generations so it's hard to be critical of something so loved. She explains that the house has been renovated which you can see in the newer windows, doors, shower, toilet and kitchen appliances. Everything was clean and it had a lot of quirky charm, like spending the night at Grandma's house. We stayed in early June and it wasn't too hot or too cold outside so the temperature inside was good too. Easy to understand Instructions were left and it was easy to turn on hot water and the wifi password was left in several places.
The house is very loved but unfortunately has suffered with age in the way of a tilting staircase and uneven walls that are covered up by slapdashed wallpaper.
I'm not sure it would be possible to find a more thoughtful host than Mary. Her love for her family home is evident everywhere, as is her genuine thoughtfulness for her guests' every need. She has staples, treats, handmade guidebooks, personalized welcome notes, clear instructions -- everything. And the cottage itself is like stepping into a storybook, complete with stunning scenery! We chose a side-trip to Sligo for Yeats, but this place was almost its own destination.
Just know that the bedrooms are upstairs and the bathroom is on the main floor, with some steep stairs, if you have mobility issues.
Check in was simple, there were lots of snacks and drinks, and a personalized greeting was very nice. This is a clean little cottage and a pretty good value for the money.
It was a bit further than we expected to sligo. This is my mistake.. We first felt like we were in the middle of nowhere. Google maps took us the long way around. It wasn't exactly like the photos seemed to us.
The property itself is so beautiful!! They were so sweet with leaving lots of treats/snacks/supplies - I’ve never stayed anywhere that provided so much and was so considerate! Loved knowing the history of the place and with my family originally from Sligo it felt so special to stay there.
I would say the only critique I have is that the stairway light is a little off and would turn on and off at random times.
Lovely authentic cottage in countryside. Fantastic host - every little detail thought through and fabulous supply of options for breakfast. Large bedrooms and great heating throughout cottage
Stairs to bedrooms are steep, would not suit older persons
The breakfast and snack supplies for us to have was amazing.
The lodge is buried in beautiful countryside. You would definitely need a car to stay here. It’s very cosy and quiet. We were very surprised how well stocked the lodge was. Pretty much everything you would ever need. Just like home from home. The availability of wifi was a great surprise.
My short stay. The lodge was so lovely. I will miss the best sleep I’ve had in years.
Fantastic wee cottage. loads of character in the cottage. Great location.
nothing.
We instantly felt welcome. There was a personalized message on our table, and everything is thoughtful in the house. Breakfast with eggs, sausage fresh tomatoes and bread were supplied amongst any other goodies. The table was decorated according for Easter, and the daffodils were in bloom for Daffodil Cottage. Mary was very responsive to all our query, although if I had looked around more I would have found answers to my questions are there are many guide-books from restaurants to recommendations for walks.
We had a little trouble figuring out how the heating system worked and didn’t want to disturb Mary late in the evening, but thankfully the space heaters kept us warm enough, and the beds were hugely comfortable.
Comfortable cottage, well equipped. Really enjoyed our stay.
The little cottage is just beautiful. It has been lovingly preserved as it would have been a hundred years ago when it was still a working Dairy. The place has tradition and charm in every corner of the place. You couldn’t get a more authentically Western Irish Experience. It is set in between the hills, the landscape is amazing. The beds are very cozy
I loved everything about it, I would agree with the host about mobility. The stairs are 200 years old and a little crooked as a result - this added to the charm for me. I just had my hip replaced and managed fine though.
The location was lovely and quiet. We loved the old house, it felt so homely and all the lovely little treats that were left was amazing, we were so happy and really relaxed during our stay. The house had lovely little touches to it and we really enjoyed reading all the history about the property. I forgot my tooth brush and there was even a spare tooth brush there along with several other things one might forget. This was amazing value for money.
