Castlehamilton Cottages and Activity Centre

Fantastic place. Full of character, in a beautiful setting and a short walk from Killeshandra village. Audrey and Alan are excellent hosts. Nothing was too much bother for them and they gave us lots of advice on where to walk and visit. Excellent restored courtyard apartments with everything you will need for your stay. We will certainly be back as we loved every minute of our stay.

Only that we weren’t staying a little longer.

The activity center was just a games room

We stayed in the gatehouse at Castlehamiton, it is a beautiful building, very comfortable, spacious and had everything we needed. Both bedrooms have en-suite shower rooms which was great. The location is perfect for access to the town and surrounding areas. The views across the fields were beautiful and the cows came to visit us most days. Our hosts were fantastic and we had a wonderful stay. Will definitely return.

No WiFi in the units, Killeshandra has little to offer in food options, so it was a 20 minute drive to any kind of food, Wenden groceries. There was not even coffee in the tins when we arrived.

Host Audrey went out of her way to help make our stay really memorable. She responded to emails promptly beforehand and while we were there made a fantastic effort to ensure we would get the most out of our trip

We had a wonderful stay here last weekend. Myself, my mam, and our dog stayed in this beautiful little pet-friendly cottage, and we couldn't have asked for more. Our host, Audrey, was absolutely fantastic. She was so welcoming, helpful, and knowledgeable, giving us great recommendations for places to visit. One of our favourites was Nana Tilly's Tea Rooms – a lovely spot for coffee and a delicious homemade scone after a scenic walk. The grounds are spacious, giving both guests and dogs plenty of freedom to enjoy the outdoors. The other guests also seemed to be making the most of the beautiful open space. On our way home, we visited Carraig Gardens, another of Audrey's recommendations, and it certainly didn't disappoint. It was the perfect way to end a lovely weekend. Overall, we had a fantastic time and would highly recommend staying here. We'll definitely be back, hopefully with more of the family next time! 😀

The location was fabulous and I was able to walk my dog around the estate which was beautiful. I stayed self catering with a fully equipped kitchen so could make my own breakfast. The hosts were so friendly and helpful will definitely be back.

Audrey our host gave us a very warm welcome, and a tour of the facilities. She was a mind of information of things to do and see in the locality. If you are looking for peace, tranquility with great walks locally or more adventurous boating on the lake.. This truly is a hidden Gem. We enjoyed our stay so much we will definately be returning. Would highly recommend this venue.

De vriendelijkheid en behulpzaamheid van de hosts was hartverwarmend. Verder een hele ruime woning, zowel de slaapkamers als de keuken. En twee badkamers was heel fijn met een gezin van 4! Verder een prachtige plek en een pub en supermarkt op loopafstand.

De werking van het warme water was niet duidelijk. Een instructie in de woning zou handig zijn.

We stayed in a lovely little terraced cottage that was part of the main courtyard. We could park right outside and the site was very dog welcome. Ideal for doorstep walks. The cottage decor was dated but clean and added to the character and charm. Friendly hosts who had excellent meet and greet and gave us individual advice on what we might enjoy. Thanks for the late check out!

The name of the property on the main gate would have been useful as well as discrete signage around the site

Very unique! Beautiful property, the cottages were well appointed. We rented 3 of Audrey’s cottages for a family vacation/wedding and they were perfect for our needs. The game room was a wonderful bonus for both the adults and children. Audrey was a wonderful host, very helpful and knowledgeable about the history of the property and surrounding areas. Would definitely stay again!

Having more access to cell service or WiFi would be helpful. It was difficult to communicate between the cottages due to lack of connectivity.

WiFi only in games room. Pool table missing some balls and foosball table missing one player. Dart board had no darts.

We loved the setting of the cottages, and we felt it was very safe for the kids and our dog. There was a games room provided which was brilliant for pool, table tennis etc. The walks and lakes surrounding the property are beautiful, and the owners kindly offered us to feel free to use the boat for the lake. Audrey and Alan were lovely people and great hosts..

WiFi and Sky TV were not available within the cottages, but I suppose it encourages less use of phones and electronic equipment throughout the family to encourage more outdoor activities together.

Stunning area full of beautiful walking trails and history. Quiet and peaceful. Audrey and Alan go out of their way to make you feel at home and are so friendly and kind. They are wonderful guides to the area and its history. Will definitely be back. I was sad to leave !

The owners Alan and Audrey were wonderful. Very helpful and friendly. The area is beautiful and so is the land it is on.

The oven and pans are quite dated. Cooking is possible but without the benefits of modern appliances. I wouldn't plan on cooking anything complicated.

We loved the games room and the walks on the grounds. Being able to hire a boat for a trip to a nearby island was an added bonus and Alan was very accommodating with times etc.

The location is amazing, the hosts are really friendly and we could bring our dogs for no extra fees, they had some cosy naps in the huge kitchen and dining areas. The fireplace is like in a fairytale

Even had a games room for children and adults alike , snooker , table tennis and table football as well as a great selection of board games

Didnt have llamas in the field that delivered your continental breakfast in the morning LOL, though had plenty of menus to look through of local restuarants and bars ,of where to eat

We loved the fact that we were able to walk down the hill to a beautiful lake, take out a rowing boat with minimal experience, and stay as long as we wanted rowing on the lake! Life jackets were provided.

Well equipped property, kitchen perfect for self catering. Spotlessly clean. A great base for a family getaway. We booked 3 cottages and we enjoyed the location.

Great location if you want to switch off and connect with nature. We stayed in the gated house that is right beside the gates at the entrance. This is about a 12 minute walk to the courtyard and games room / facilities but closer to the village. Perfect for us ( family 2 adults 2 kids and a dog) as it offered more privacy. Our house was clean and comfortable and had everything you need for a self catering get away. Very spacious. Decor is not modern but more in tune with old country irish. The kids loved the games room and football pitch and the dog loved playing fetch in the lake. The resort has 2 row boats available to take out on the lake and you can rent a engine both and fishing equipment also. The hosts Alan and Audrey are so relaxed, nice and friendly. We loved that we were allowed bring our dog, made it a real family get away. Recommend the loop walk route by the forest and lakes really beautiful. The small village is a bit run down but the lough bawn hotel offers lovely pub food and friendly welcoming service. We really loved our relaxing family break and would highly recommend it

the hostess was extremely helpful and approachable. the accommodation was clean and very well equipped. the location was amazing with amazing walks right on the door step, amazing recreational activities available.

Everything... accommodation lovely, owners Audrey & Alan were delightful and a fountain of information! It looks quiet on the photo, but it was full of fishermen, who were all out on the lakes fishing for Pike! A lot of beautiful walks around the farm or Killeshandra and down by the lakes. We all had a great time, especially our 5 year old and 2 Scottie dogs! Thank you both for making us so welcome!

The peacefulness - all mod cons to cater for ourselves - the games room was a real hit from Adults to small kids & teenagers in between - the walking trails and yet so close to town for supplies and a great base for traveling a little farther afield.
