We have returned to Claragh Cottage for the Third Time and each time we leave we leave planning our next visit it’s a hidden Treasure

Beautiful house in a stunning location, by far the nicest holiday rental we have ever stayed in.

Nothing to dislike

Having stayed here 3 years ago we new what to expect and we were not disappointed.

Everything! Every room was gorgeous and we just loved the lounge/diner sitting looking out at that stunning view!

We struggled to find anything!

In one word, amazing. Renovated yet cozy. Large living room, best food closet in the world... Fireplace works very well. Great views. Like I said, amazing.

Claragh Cottage was beautiful in every way. The house was gorgeous with every need catered for. Catherine and Bernard were exceptional hosts, generous and kind. The area was quiet and peaceful, exactly what we needed. Everything was perfect.

Beautiful views of the lake and wild life

The cottage was absolutely stunning. The remote location was so peaceful. The views were amazing, everyone needs to experience the sunset over the lake! The owners had everything perfect on arrival. The house was spotless, have everything you could possibly need. We cooked a big roast dinner and all the equipment we needed was available. Only 15min drive from Cavan Town and a little village nearby that has a shop and a takeaway. We had the most relaxing time here and will definitely book again

Beautiful and warm and modern inside

Claragh Cottage is a very well maintained, comfortable bungalow set by a lake. All the facilities you could need for a lovely stay. The hosts were extremely friendly and accommodating. Decor pleasing. Cosy stove heated the cottage really well on a freezing weekend in Jan 2026.

The cottage is in excellent condition, beautifully appointed and very clean. We found everything we needed and were very comfortable. Sitting at the table looking out over the view was the icing on the cake. Such a lovely, peaceful retreat.

We had a fantastic few nights stay at Claragh Cottage, the whole Cottage smelt absolutely wonderful and the views are so relaxing, we didn't want to leave. The owners are really lovely and so helpful. We couldn't have asked for a nicer place to stay in Ireland. Not far from shops if driving too. We would love to stay here again, thank you for a memorable stay! Xx

There was plenty of room to relax indoors, and the outdoor table and BBQ setup made our evenings really enjoyable. The beautiful lake view and the sheep grazing nearby added so much charm and a peaceful countryside feel.

If there a Jacuzzi or Hot Tub - it would have been more attractive for future stays....

Claragh Cottage is a beautiful place to stay. The view and peace alone made it a wonderful weekend trip.

The property is absolutely beautiful, light and airy with beautiful fixtures and furniture. Everything we needed was available and everything was clean and fresh. It was set on a farm with so many cute sheep to watch from the windows and beautiful views.

Best accommodation we stayed in. We loved this fully renovated 150 year old cottage with amazing views across your own lake and rolling hills. The communication with the hosts was great and they made sure the house was warm and the lights on for our late arrival. The cottage has everything you need and was better than we expected from the description and pictures. We had the fire going and it felt like a home away from home, we only wished we had stayed longer and will definitely be back one day!

Catherine, the owner, was very warm and welcoming. The booking and check-in information were all communicated very well, and it was a straightforward process. The cottage is a beautiful rural setting, it is very tranquil and peaceful, which suited us as we wanted a quiet few days. The cottage is like a showhouse, beautifully finished and spotlessly clean, with beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. It is equipped with everything you would need, a home from home. We would highly recommend Bernard and Catherine's fabulous cottage.

There was absolutely nothing not to like. We noted that they are taking steps to camouflage the shed beside the cottage with plants, which will soften the entrance, but it's a working farm, so sheds are normal. As an avid gardener, I think some colourful flowers in the pots on the patio would be the cherry on the cake.

It felt like home. Beautiful scenery! The house was spacious and it had all the things we needed.

I loved every bit of the place. I give it 10/10 minus nothing.

Exceptionally clean property. Absolutely exceeded our expectations for comfort and warmth. Very generous hosts have left extra food/soap products and since we were there for Christmas they went to the extra effort of festively decorating the house which we very much appreciated. Photos do not do justice. Scenic and peaceful rural location, surrounded by rolling hills and a lake.

More isolated then expected, but met our needs on this occasion as we had a few hectic days at a family wedding prior to our stay..

We loved everything about Claragh Cottage. From our first contact with Catherine and Bernard via email to meeting them the evening of our arrival, everything was perfect. The best holiday accommodation we have ever had was at Claragh Cottage. The scenery and view from the house is magnificent. It was spotlessly clean and so welcoming with fresh flowers on the table and basic groceries in the house which we could use. We loved the sheep and cattle in the fields and the girls enjoyed a dip in Claragh Lough. The location was perfect for researching our ancestors who were from Co. Cavan and timing was great for the Cavan Calling festival. Thanks for a wonderful stay at Claragh Cottage, Catherine and Bernard!

claragh Cottage was extremely clean, organized new and offered all the of. Bernard and Catherine , the owners, designed this cottage as an Airbnb thinking of the traveler in mind. It was beautifully furnished and masterly designed for complete comfort, peace, quiet, and rest. The cottage was built over looking the lake. The sheep welcome does every morning by grazing in the grass right outside of the cottage and be on fence. We could see and hear the sounds of the cows mooing on the rolling grassy hills below.

A beautiful home, fitted out to the highest standard. Everything you'd need in one place. Bedroom was huge. Just immaculate. Bernard is a gent. Ideal escape. Home away from home.

WiFi signal and coverage is quite poor. Wouldn't be ideal if you were planning to work from here. But ideal if you'd like to switch off from everything.

The cottage was absolutely stunning. Beautiful location with a big, comfortable living area with an amazing view of the lake. The beds were very comfortable and there were plenty of towels provided. The house was warm, spotlessly clean and there was a fire already built for our arrival that just needed to be lit. We had a very relaxing few days and will definitely be back soon! Thank you for having us!

The location of Claragh cottage is rural with fabulous views of the hills and a lake, with the large town of Cavan within 20 min driving distance and numerous small villages with amenities closer by. The location is ideal for daytrips in Co. Cavan, Co. Leitrim and Co. Fermanagh. The house itself is spacious and beautifully finished to a high standard. A home away from home with virtually every comfort and a royally equipped kitchen (even a juicer and foodprocessor!!). The woodburner was very tempting but with temperatures of 25 deg and above we saved that for our next visit. The 2 bathrooms were to modern standards with rainshowers and a deep bath. Both extremely clean. There is a large patio with furniture and a bbq. In spite of its rural location the wifi reception was very good (which is definitely not common in rural Ireland!). Catherine and Bernard live close by and are at hand if needed or just for a chat. If you're lucky you may even meet sheepdog Nel. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to be back!
