Really cozy cottage with a quaint feeling. Chris gave us a great welcome and had the cottage ready earlier than expected which was really appreciated as we were going to a wedding. Spotlessly clean with super comfortable beds. Well equipped kitchen with all mod cons. A lovely place to stay.
Two of the bedrooms are in the loft and open to the living room downstairs. This wasn’t an issue for our family but could be if privacy and noise were a concern. The spiral staircase to one of the bedrooms is not suitable for children.
The cottage is so lovely and Chris has gone above and beyond to make it a home from home. He keeps it beautifully clean and tidy, inside and out. It is a very welcoming, well appointed cottage. Chris is very welcoming and took time to run through where everything was etc and was only at the end of the phone for any queries. He popped by a couple of times to cut the grass etc.
My only criticism was the lack of washing line. There was one, but hadn’t been put up yet. With four children and two adults, it was difficult to get clothes dried using only an airer. We managed though and if the line had been up, I couldn’t fault the place or Chris himself.
Cosy, charming, warm with all amenities needed. Well located for our purposes. Good communication with host.
One very squeaky single bed. Spiral staircase challenging for adults!
Lots of character. Comfortable and clean. Lots of space.
It has a vintage look with all amenities we expect in these times we live in .
The place is just amazing with the decoration made to it. It just impressed me you.
Wonderful cottage with charm and all the amenities you could want.
Trying to think of something and coming up with nothing!!
Very nice cottage just like I like them. Beautifully organized. Very confortable and pleasant. We all enjoy it. Thanks to Chris.
Nothing! We're easy people...😉
The property was lovely. Very well maintained and cosy. We met the host Chris who put us at ease and explained everything to us. He did a wonderful job restoring this old cottage and it’s a charm.
Nothing ! Everything was perfect for us.
This is a beautiful, homely cottage. Very relaxing place to stay. It was lovely and warm when we arrived.
Nothing, the cottage is really lovely, we'd stayed before and the owner is very helpful. Only thing is that you need a car to get anywhere, but we knew that prior to arriving.
Lovely cottage, excellent hosts. A home from home. Our second time staying. A great wee place to stay.
Great comfortable beds. Very clean throughout the whole cottage. Very well equipped. Homely and inviting. Great Location.
It was the loveliest cottage i have ever stayed in. It was warm cozy, very comfortable. Every single thing from the sofas to a frying pan was of excellent quality. Very easy to find in a lovely place, a short drive to find the local town for shopping banks etc. We shall be booking again next year and probably every year thereafter on our annual family gathering. The cottage owner was a phone call away if we needed anything or any probelms.
My friends and I had a lovely weekend at the wonderful Hopesgate Cottage. Chris met us on arrival and had the wood burner running so the cottage was extremely cosy. He gave us a rundown of all the important information for our stay and provided us with local taxi options. The cottage itself is gorgeous! It's been superbly restored with under floor heating and lots of beautiful furnishings, making it feel very homely. It is clean and very comfortable with a well equipped kitchen for cooking. Overall a fabulous little spot!
Wasn't an issue for us, but agree with some other guests about the spiral staircase; it's manageable but could be tricky with smaller kids.
A great place to spend time with your children. Very friendly and helpful owner. The cottage was clean. Overall great value. It exceeded my expectations. Great location if you want to visit Ireland.
Good facilities, comfy beds, really cute cottage. No complaints at all.
Fabulous cottage finished to a very high standard.extrmely comfortable with everything you need

An incredibly beautiful cottage situated in a good location. The facilities were excellent, it was warm, comfortable and very well kitted out .Chris was very helpful and welcoming ,a true gentleman. We will definitely go back to Hopesgate Cottage in the future. Highly recommend 👌
Nothing.
Cozy, extremely well equipped, decorated with whimsical humor
The location was perfect, easy to find, and just a few miles from the family we were visiting. The cottage was excellent and exceeded our expectations , with everything we needed. the owner met us on arrival and showed us round, explaining how everything worked. He couldn't have been more helpful.
The cottage is on a main road and the traffic is moving very quickly so care is needed in crossing the road. The cottage is heated by underfloor heating with a kitchen range and controlled by a thermostat and the owner was very helpful in explaining how this worked.
Very well-equipped!
Beautifully decorated, warm and comfy, very friendly host.
A little bit close to the road
This cottage was fabulous, a really special stay. The refurbishment was excellent, with underfloor heating making this historic cottage really cosy. Everything was good quality, including the bed linen, delph, kitchen utensils etc. Chris met us at the property to show us how things worked and was very welcoming and friendly. Felt like "home from home." Will be back.......
The cottage was ideal for my group as we were on a golf trip and golf course was 400 Mts away really close
The property was excellent no complaints
A beautiful cottage! Clean, rustic and cosy with underfloor heating and a stove. Chris was friendly and helpful. Would recommend!
Location was perfect for our needs
We couldn't fault anything
Excellent accommodations, the cottage is so cozy and the place to stay when traveling Ireland and visiting Roscrea.

Absolutely beautiful cottage, it was a lovely place to relax and a wonderful space to enjoy. It had everything you needed, it was like home for home. The location is perfect for exploring the surrounding areas, Leap Castle and Birr Castle and Gardens were just two places we visited. Beds were really comfortable, the kitchen was fully equipped for all your needs and the bathrooms had a shower in one and a stand alone bath in the other.
There was nothing to dislike, the only suggestion I'd give is to have a little table and chairs in the garden area for the summer time.
It was a very comfortable beautiful property, we couldn't have asked for better, I couldn't recommend this property highly enough.
Nothing
The cottage looks absolutely beautiful, surpassing even the listing photos - especially for the upstairs bedrooms, which seemed to have undergone further renovations. Looks like something straight out of a Pinterest board. Exceptionally comfortable, with wonderful beds, a well equipped kitchen (both with food and all the applieances you could possibly need), bathrooms (one with a shower and one with bathtub), a lovely fireplace and ample space to store your belongings. The decor was pretty and plenty, reflecting a traditional, rural way of life. Chris was a wonderful host, accommodating, friendly and ready to help. We arrived at almost midnight, but he had no problem waiting up to welcome us, even returning when we rather stupidly locked ourselves out of the house. Secluded location with only a single neighbour, and a large meadow around the house. It makes for a peaceful environment, while still being easily accessible by the nearby road. Roscrea is a lovely town, and has a large Tesco to keep you stocked. With its location at the centre of the country, it's an ideal base to reach most of Ireland within a max. 2 hours long car drive. Thank you for making our stay a wonderful and memorable part of this trip. We'd highly recommend choosing Hopesgate Cottage to anyone looking for peace and comfort.
That we had to leave :(
every aspect of this accommodation was simply perfect, from Chris’s welcome to every bit of linen, cutlery, and glasses being spotless. I can honestly say, we were blown away by the fire and the cosy feel of the place

Chris, Met us on our arrival to show us around and how to use the underfloor heating which was run on wood pellets. It was lovely and warm throughout our stay. The bedding, beds and furniture were all very comfortable and there was a lovely ambience in the cottage. A stuffed toy was left behind and Chris let us know with in the hour that it was staying an extra night or two with him. Then he ensured it was posted to us (at no extra charge). I'd highly recommend a stay in this cottage.
Great little place, will be back again!
Beautifully decorated cottage, generously equipped. Great location close to Roscrea. Homely and interesting, Lovely Woodburning stove. Also a wood pellet stove for central heating. Everything in the cottage - Bedlinen, furniture, crockery, equipment – is lovely
There are three bedrooms. A double room Which is completely private. The other two rooms are in private spaces – With their own private staircases and surrounding space - But no door to close.
Chris the owner was waiting with the stove lighting in the beautiful traditional cottage for our arrival. Everything was perfect from cleanliness to all facilities that we needed. We will definitely be returning.
