Knockreagh Farm Cottages, Callan, Kilkenny

Very comfy cottage suitable for a family of 4 and our dog. Very clean and comfortable beds Essentials in fridge and fresh bread upon arrival,which was a very nice touch. Great communication with Mike. We had use of the games room and a pint or 2 of complimentary guinness on tap. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely return .

It's hard to get a taxi

The communal bar and games room, as well as the hot tub. The host left us food in the fridge. A real treat!

The beds were e comfortable. Kitchen had everything you would need.

It's dog friendly accommodation but there was 3 dogs wondering around everytime we needed to bring our dogs out which caused us distress. There is no private garden. Cottage needs up dating and there was only 1 bathroom between 5 adults.

The property was spacious and very homely

Fabulous setting and a spacious 3 bedroom house. Perfect location for a family of 5 to visit the city. My kids loved the playground and we enjoyed the pool table also. Our host Mike had stocked the fridge with a full Irish which was a lovely treat. We will defo return.

The property did not at all live up to expectations. Given the price (over 900 for two nights), we expected an element of luxury. However, this was in no way the case. The cottage was not clean and there was a serious problem with flies. There were dead flies congregating in the bathroom and bedrooms. When we returned home in the evening there there were dead flies on the beds and in the sheets. When this was brought to the attention of the host, they acknowledged it but took no action to find a solution.

The quality of the property does not reflect the price.

It's so peaceful, and comfortable. Plenty of space for kids to run around be free and safe. The house was clean with fresh towels very comfortable beds and all the essential food bits there for us already. Fresh bread milk etc. We met the host briefly, introduced himself and told us if we needed anything just ask.

The games room/pub needs to be cleaned but the self serve bar is a lovely touch and love the idea of the honesty bar.

It’s a really unique experience. Lots of complimentary extras. Lovely setting and very cute cottages. We loved it!

The location was in the nice, quiet countryside, the apartment was spacious and comfortable. The available food was very much appreciated!! We didn't take advantage of the amenities but we're happy they were there.

The shower water pressure was pretty weak. Newer shower heads can improve that significantly.

Beautiful grounds, amazing drive up to houses, perfect houses had everything needed aswell as play ground, honesty bar, Jacuzzi. Watched the sunset from the jacuzzi. Kids and adults all enjoyed equally. Would definitely go back

There is not much to dislike about this property

A lovely spot in the country, great location for exploring Kilkenny and surrounds. A well stocked fridge when we arrived was appreciated. Friendly dogs and family.

This lovely property was a great way to escape the touristy, busy city for a peaceful, quiet evening. The kitchen was wonderful with a grill just outside our door so that we could make generous, affordable meals (grocery store just down the road). Our large, one story cottage was nicely laid out with two bedrooms (the beds and pillows were both comfy) and lots of living space! There was plenty of room for our family to spread out and relax or play cards at the kitchen table. The owner and his wife were so kind and willing to share information about the area and give ideas as well. If ever we are blessed to be back in Ireland, we would definitely visit again!

Stayed with cousins for a family reunion. The accommodation was perfect and the little touches did it such as the supplies that were provided. Mike and his family were so welcoming and friendly. Will definitely stay again and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend

The accommodation was very well equipped and clean. And everything worked! A bonus was the generous welcome hamper of groceries . The grounds are extensive and very safe. We especially valued the range of outdoor play equipment. The private bar was also fun. Mike was very responsive at all times.

I did think that the price was a little high given the isolated location and the fact that there was just one bathroom.

Wonderful location and very well supplied houses, our family of 16 were very comfortable here across 3 houses. We have a wheelchair user amongst our group and he was well covered with ramps and access to the garden area.

A group of 16 of us had an absolute fantastic stay at Knockreagh! Mike is very welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. The cottages and scenery are gorgeous, the leisure center is brilliant! All round 5 star experience, we had a blast! Thank you for having us! Anyone visiting killkenny should stay here!!

There was nothing we didn't like about knockreagh farm cottages.

We had a most wonderful family 2 day vacation in two fabulous kitted out homes from home. Even had Christmas decorations adorning the homes. Our host was so kind and welcoming and left us the makings of 'the full Irish' Can't praise it high enough.

The weather could have been warmer hahah!

Great location. We used 3 cottages for a group of 9 people and they were very cozy and roomy. Loved the animals and the owner stocked the refrigerators so we could make our own breakfasts.

We had a fantastic stay with family at Knockreagh farm cottages. They were well kitted out with everything you could ever need for a family stay. They were warm and cosy with comfy beds. We loved the hot tub and sauna and bar. Mikes communication was without fault. Highly recommend this property and wish Mike the best with his endeavours.

I had read the great reviews beforehand and was pleasantly surprised to see that they were all spot on. The accommodation itself was great and perfect for us (3 adults, 3 kids). Mike had the fridge stocked with essentials for us, including items for a fry. We had brought a few things ourselves but I don't think we needed to use them. Mike mentioned to us about the bar next door to our farmhouse, "could we pull our own pints?" It was great to be able to have a couple of self poured complimentary pints while playing a game of pool! There was a small outdoor play area for the kids which we didn't get a chance to use properly as we were out most of both days we were there. There was also a communal hot tub and sauna, again we would've loved to use but didn't have the time. I definitely recommend this property for a stay, especially for families. Its about 10mins from Kilkenny and a great base to explore that part of the country.

Very sensitive smoke alarm. Toast set off alarms 3 times. Also small door to attic rattles on windy nights. Maybe secure it?

This was the most amazing place to stay. I think it will be our favourite accommodation in Ireland. It was close to many things but not in a town so lovely and quiet. Mike was an amazing host and I would recommend this as a place to stay if you're looking for accommodation near Kilkenny

What a beautiful stay! Quick 12-minute access to Kilkenny, but so nice to be out in a serene/beautiful area. Clean and spacious rooms. We loved the ability to walk around the property and enjoy the beauty. We enjoyed the hot tub and big TV to watch sports. Owners are super friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend this stay, you won't be disappointed. Grocery store is 5 mins away.

All the extra touches! An indoor jacuzzi with mountain views, beautiful grounds, the amenities were perfect from billiards to a bar, well beyond what you’d expect from a stay at farm cottages! We had children ranging from 5-11 and my mother who is 86, we all loved our stay. Just down the road from Kilkenny city, so much to do and see. Thanks Mike, we’ve told all our family and friends !!

The accommodation and location were ideal set in quiet and serene, lovely Irish countryside. Our host, Mike was there to greet us and show us around. The wonderful welcome included a supply of food which enabled us to make a snack after our journey. We had a most enjoyable and memorable stay. As I am not familiar with this part of Ireland I am planning to return at some point to explore further and will have no hesitation in staying at Knochreagh again. Thank you Mike for a delightful stay!

We had an amazing stay. There is something for everyone here - a playground for younger kids, ample space, netflix available on TV, hot tub, sauna and a bar. The house itself was clean and comfortable and Mike was kind enough to stock the fridge with a few essentials. Highly recommend- we will be back!

This cottage was sublime. It was the last 3 nights of our Ireland trip before returning to England. Could not have asked for a nicer place. Good sized cottages, excellent amenities, a hot tub, communal area and loads of open space for the dogs to run around. Mikes dogs Toby and Daisy were very adorable too and an added bonus for our dogs to play with! Undoubtedly the best place for us to end a very busy 2 weeks. I have been recommending to everybody and will be back. Close to Kilkenny and an hour away from the Copper Coast which has stunning beaches and coves. Loved every minute. Thanks Mike and family. Hopefully see you soon ❤️

It was perfect!

It was amazing and would be wonderful for children as its so safe so you can relax as they play .

Everything! Lots of little surprises like a free bar, pool table, air hockey table and a little playground . Everything you could need is provided in the cottage. Its very clean and comfortable. It really was a home from home. Mike greeted us with a box of groceries to keep us going until we got organised. The hot tub was a big hit with our family.

The only thing that let us down was the weather and that's just bad luck. But even at that, the place has so much to offer indoors that we didn't mind at all

16 of us had a brilliant stay here in the very well appointed cottages. The children loved the playground, the teens loved the pool table and the bar area was a hit with all. Mike was a great host, very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend Knockreagh for a family gathering.

The hosts were exceptionally thoughtful and committed. Their property is beautiful and seems like a peaceful retreat as well as a vacation spot! Beautiful flowers, a fabulous clean hot tub, a bar with a pool table and a lovely view of fields make this farm a wonderful escape from home. The cottages are completely renovated and so comfortable. The beds and bedding are remarkably comfortable, the bathrooms are clean and modern, and the kitchen and living room are well stocked, attractive and functional. I cannot imagine a better place for couples, families and friends to stay!

I wish I had stayed longer. There’s nothing that I disliked.

Great stay. Very spacious and comfortable. Just know you are staying on the premises of an active farm a few minutes outside of Kilkenney, which we loved getting to see the sheep, goats, and cattle all around! Even friendly dogs too.

The Cottage was fabulous. With all the extras to keep kids Happy. It was spotless. To be able to relax in the hot tub with a stunning view was just bliss. Chilled in the bar in the night while kids had their own little disco and played games of pool. Lots of green area to kick a ball around and lovely play area. Mike the owner was so welcoming. We will definitely be returning guests.

the location it was so beautiful and peaceful the cottage was really cosy and comfortable for my family and the kids loved it as there was open space to play hurling/soccer a play area for smaller kids a pool table and we all loved the jacuzzi with sauna and there was a bar also with a lounge area to chill in the evening..the owner Mike was very obliging and friendly and had the fridge stocked with a few bits on arrival ..would definitely recommend it for a relaxing and peaceful wkend 👌

The playground, gardens and leisure centre were fantastic and provided many hours of quality family time. Set in beautiful surroundings and countryside. We had a great stay at Knockreagh! Mike was so hospitable and accommodating to our questions. The rooms were clean and stocked with towels. The fridge was stocked with a full breakfast as well and Mike left us a welcome bottle of wine for our stay. He also communicated quickly and was able to give us tips and even offered a number of options for us when it came to driving in and out of Kilkenny as taxis and Uber aren't readily available.

It would have been helpful if there were instructions on working the shower (we weren't able to figure out the hot water situation till the second day-- needed to pull a string from the ceiling to turn it on). More mirrors would have also been helpful for the ladies getting ready.

Extremely clean and comfortable. Had everything we needed to relax and enjoy our trip. Perfectly located. Very close to Kilkenny for sightseeing, and close to Callan for grocery shopping. We felt very safe and cozy. Our host, Mike, was super welcoming and helpful. He was quick to communicate if we had any questions. we stayed for 2 nights, but were so comfortable we didn’t want to leave!

Very nice little find! Great spot for family, especially with little ones. About 15 mins from Kilkenny city by car. Property had anything we needed, little things like salt/pepper/mayo etc. Didn't get around to using the hottub/sauna/bar but they looked good!

Possibly need to secure the gate at the access to the farmyard as it's easy for a little one to slip in!

Really enjoyed my stay, the host Mike was very welcoming. I loved that the cottage was Located on a farm it was lovely and peaceful. The cottage was very clean throughout and the bed was the most comfortable iv ever slept in! Had everything you needed for your stay. Will definitely be back again.

Stairs was a hazard with the kids, would of liked to have the option of a stair gate to keep them away.

these cottages were ideal for 18 people all to stay together on one site so if you are travelling with a large group this place is perfect. The facilities have everything you need for your stay . the cottages themselves are stunning and the scenery is out of this world. when we arrived the host had filled the fridge up with essentials and told to make ourselves at home while we stay. The facilities had a bar sauna jacuzzi pool table outdoor play for children it had everything you need all in one place. I would highly recommend staying here are experience was a 10/10 lovely welcoming host who made all feel at home .
