Amazing place. Always an absolute joy to stay there.

Every aspect was fantastic! The location was private and peaceful, and the home was beautifully presented with everything you could ever need. We would love to visit again and absolutely recommend The Homestead to other travellers.

We wish we had booked more nights there!

Cute little cottage set in beautiful grounds. Quirky and cute - everything you would need at your fingertips. Beautiful rooms and comfortable beds. We loved the decor and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. A fabulous host who has given a lot of thought to our comfort - thank you!

Quiet with spacious bedrooms, kitchen and living area. Good appliances. Lovely big grounds, trees, birds, off road but good quick access to road. Not lakeside but straight forward road access and not too far away at all.

There were no downfalls.

Gemütliches Haus in einem wunderschönen Garten. Das Haus hat alles, was man für einen Aufenthalt benötigt - und sogar alles für ein Frühstück war vorhanden! Danke schön!! Das Haus ist sauber und sehr liebevoll eingerichtet. Man kann es sich im Garten gemütlich machen oder zum nahegelegenen See fahren/joggen. Wir würden wieder kommen!!

Location was perfect just far enough away from the hustle and bustle but still close enough The gardens and grounds were spectacular with the scent of the flowers and the bird sounds. Also enjoyed watching the quails wandering around. The facilities were great and exceeded expectations. My daughter who uses a wheelchair praised the accessibility

Stay was not long enough

This is truly one of the most wonderful accommodations we have ever stayed in. A beautiful, spacious house with multiple bedrooms, and we fell in love with it the moment we arrived. The owner has created an absolutely stunning garden, immaculately maintained and a joy to be in. Instead of going out and sightseeing, we found ourselves spending most of our time in and around the house, simply enjoying the peace and surroundings. During our many months of travelling, this was the first place where we genuinely felt able to slow down and fully relax. We were honestly sad that we couldn’t stay longer. We highly recommend this place to anyone looking for comfort, beauty and true tranquility.

The location made it easy to get where we wanted to go. It was a beautiful setting, extremely quiet and peaceful. The property was superbly resourced, over our expectations. The hostess was very pleasant and very available should we need her.

This place is a hidden gem! Peaceful and completely private, we loved sitting in the beautiful garden in the sunshine. Close to town but felt rural, woke up to native bird calls. The photos don’t really do it justice - it has a quality vintage feel. We enjoyed chatting to the owner Kahu, who was very friendly and welcoming.

A relaxing, quiet place to stay on the outskirts of Acacia Bay with beautiful gardens. Comfortable beds and a well-equipped house. Kahu is a wonderful host and even gave us lemons for our G & T’s. The cafe up the road is well worth the visit along with the craft shop.

Beautiful house in a great position. 10min out of town but well worth it. Feels like you’re in a rural property. The house is very well set up for an extended stay with family or a group of friends.

Second time staying at the property - last year for five nights with my sister whilst on a road trip from Wellington to Cambridge. This year with my husband for a week, whilst we are holidaying in the North Island of NZ and I enjoyed it as much as the first time. Sadly my sister could not join us due to work commitments, but she was envious of us being able to go. House is very comfortable and works well for a family; two couples or just one. It has beautiful gardens with lots of flowers, shrubs, trees and bird life. It is quiet, but not far from Taupo. Kitchen has everything you could need and more. Good shower with water pressure, very comfortable beds. Lovely verandah and outdoor sitting area overlooking the gardens with comfortable furniture. The owner, Kuha lives next door and introduced herself with some suggestions for cafes/restaurants and sights, but did not intrude. She clearly enjoys what she does and takes pride in the property and garden. Highly recommended and we will definitely visit again.

Nothing, we have travelled extensively in the last 10 -12 years through Asia, Europe, UK and NZ and this is one of the best properties we have stayed at for comfort and location.

Quiet, lovely garden, friendly welcome and provision of everything we needed (including bike washing facility), well stocked kitchen, comfortable beds. Great value for money with four people.

It has a .lovely big peaceful garden. The host is lovely. She ensures you're doing ok then leaves you to enjoy yourself.

It's not inviting to go for a walk straight from the property. You have to drive elsewhere.

Comfortable, open and warm!

Very warm greetings before and after we check in. Everything is so gorgeously set and arranged in the beautiful house. Perfect for 5 family members to stay in 3 seperate rooms. With air conditioning on during the cold winter, feel nice warm and comfortable. We had a very present 2 nights stay in this lovely place. Definitely will choose it next time. Joy Tsai from Taiwan

Sat nav directed us to a different location and it was difficult to spot the property when you were travelling in one direction (coming out of Taupo) A 10minute drive out of Taupo, which was fine for us but if you want to be central and within walking distance of conveniences this will not be the place for you.

Lovely clean and cosy property with a wood burner we lit both nights with plenty of fuel although the property has modern heating but we just enjoyed having it. The setting is within mature grounds with wonderful trees. Plenty of parking and away from traffic yet within easy reach of Taupo and surroundings. The host was charming and we could not have wished for more. Thank you.

This property is excellent value for money, for a group of five this was an perfectly sized property with all of the facilities we required. The beds were super comfy, and there was ample cooking /washing facilities. It was close enough to Taupo and other associated sites Huka/ Jet Boats but also out of the way enough to be very relaxing, and, on a clear night, we got lovely night sky views.

The only issue we had was that the toilet room had an odd odour, it wasn't dirty at all, potentially a septic tank smell. So could potentially do with some diffusers etc in that one room to mask.

The garden was very impressive although the current drought is taking its toll. The cottage is dated but has everything.

Love the tranquility and peaceful location. Hosts were amazing, greeted and very apologetic of not having WiFi working. So comfortable and homely, we were just disappointed we couldn’t stay longer but definitely will return. Great range of breakfast cereals and jams provided, this place has everything you needed.

The homestead is very cosy we really enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful location surrounded by lovely gardens- very peaceful. The house itself was full of quirky knick knacks and delightful pieces of furniture. We felt immediately at home- very cosy and warm. Kahu also left milk and cereal for us to use, which was a lovely touch. We also made use of the washing machine and the outside furniture where we ate our fish and chips while listening to the bird song. We loved our stay and will definitely be back!!

Lovely, comfortable cottage with great facilities. It had the most beautiful garden and sitting areas, with birds and bird song. Incredibly relaxing, we wished we could have stayed longer. Great host.

The Homestead is a jewel. Everything is just perfect and the host Kahu an incredibly nice and lovely lady who takes so much care of the house and the surrounding. Amazing!! We loved it.

Beautiful,cozy,perfectly clean house. We had so happy and joyful days. We enjoyed beautiful garden and colorful flowers.

The cottage was spacious for our family of four, with very comfortable beds and large rooms, which were spotlessly clean and beautifully furnished. Kahu was an extremely welcoming but unobtrusive host and we enjoyed the benefits of the 'pick your own' salad/herb garden as well as the generously stocked pantry with breakfast provisions and treats. We made use of the (very clean) BBQ and outdoor table and seating and loved feeling like we were country house guests on a large estate! The cottage is well located reasonably close to Taupo town and to the lake kayak hire in Acacia Bay, but feels super private and very quiet. Highly recommend this property for a short or longer stay, our family loved everything about it and especially the well maintained gardens!

This is a truly beautiful home - spacious, comfortable, well equipped and set in a beautiful garden. It is peaceful and relaxing with many gorgeous outdoor seating areas. Inside it has everything you could possibly want and need including a very well equipped kitchen. All the bedrooms are spacious and comfortable. It warrants a long stay - we regretted we had only booked two nights!

A beautiful home in a quiet space where you can hear the birds sing. The home has loads of character with modern facilities. Very clean and comfortable, well resources, rooms are spacious, comfy and air con was well used.

Just be aware of the step going down the hallway as its a little steep for those with mobility issues. Not a major but only thing I could think of.

Quite, serene location with beautiful gardens.

The Homestead has been one of the best baches we have stayed at. Kahu the host is friendly and helpful. The house is clean and tidy with full air conditioning. Large bed rooms, modern bathroom. The decking and porch area is amazing. Pleanty of spaces to eat, sunbathe or read a book. The Gardens are well kept and lush with colour. A 5 min drive away is Acaicia Bay, probably one of the top swimming spots in NZ.. Taupo water is warm calm clean. Acacia bay is sheltered too.

Very quiet location in beautiful gardens. Very tastefully decorated with extremely comfortable beds. The whole property was spotlessly clean and the kitchen had everything that we needed and more.

The house was set in stunning gardens and the accommodation was fantastic. Nothing has been left to chance. There were so many lovely little touches that we wished we were staying much longer

The gardens and attention to detail in this home are charming. We wished we could have stayed longer. It was so restful, and there are so many aspects to soak up the lovely gardens and relax. The kitchen is equipped with everything you could think of. There are characterful touches in each room, and everything is very clean.

We much enjoyed the spaciousness both of the property and the well equipped house, its rural location but close to the lake and good cafe and restaurant. It was warm and comfortable. Kahu came to meet us on arrival and had turned on the heaters , much appreciated on a cool evening.

We loved everything! This price was homely, warm and comfortable. Love the fact that it was on a piece of land, so you felt very rural that being so close to town and able to walk on the path. kahu was so lovely and very accommodating. Definitely recommend.

We definitely love the house. It had everything we needed, all the rooms were very comfortable, the living room with tv and lots of games, the full kitchen to make our meals, the bathroom very clean, the whole leisure area outside was beautiful, everything was very organized. The house is easy to find, very cozy and warm for cold days. It was wonderful to be in this place, we had unique moments. The host was very kind and nice, we had a late check-in and late checkout, everything was great. We will definitely be back. Thank you so much Kahu!

The lovely country feel close to town. The little touches from Kahu such as turning on the heatpumps before we arrived, the great selection of teas and the milk in the fridge. Everything was very clean and organised yet homely. Kahu welcomed us upon arrival. A wonderful stay - thank you!

I can't find fault at all.

A lovely cottage where the owner went out of her way to make it comfortable, warm and inviting. It was definitely a home away from home. The cottage was spacious with a kitchen, bathroom and 3 bedrooms which was perfect for our family of 5. We arrived in the evening to a warm cottage and the fire set up ready to be lit. Beds were comfortable and warm. It was total bliss!
