Immaculate and comfortable accommodation and beautifully decorated. Comfortable beds and vast selection of breakfast foods. One of the nicest places we've ever stayed at. Definitely a 10/10.

Property and decor excelled all expectations. Sue and Russ planned this home to suit and welcome visitors and make their stay perfect and comfortable. A lot of little extras too.There was great choice of breakfast cereals, bread, fruit, a good standard of yoghurts and more besides. It was wonderful to be able to relax outside on the verandah in the peace and quiet listening to the birds and observe the lovely well kept gardens. We stayed for a week and I could have stayed forever! Thank you to you both.

This accommodation is a HOME 🥰 Sue & Russell have catered beyond any needs or expectations. We have travelled from Australia with our elderly mother 3 times and stayed at the Ambers, without a doubt thos is the MOST amazing unconditional place to stay ❤️ As Hosts they take it to the next level. As for breakfast there is nothing or no one the Ambers does not cater for , I am coeliac and I've never had options on hand like this..This is the place to stay and feel like 🏡 home. Die Einrichtung ist sehr liebevoll. Das Haus ist sehr groß. Die Vermieterin ist sehr nett, herzlich und aufmerksam. Die Aussicht war schön, vor allem mit dem Sonnenuntergang. Das Frühstücksangebot besteht aus diversen vorgekauften Produkten. Die Auswahl war groß!

Die Aufmerksamkeit der Vermieterin kann für andere zu viel sein. Deren Haus ist so ausgerichtet, dass sie das Haus zur Vermietung im Blick haben. Wir hatten damit kein Problem. Allerdings waren unfassbar viele Insekten und Spinnen in der Wohnung, als wir ankamen. Vielleicht ist es im Dorf/Kleinstadt Alltag doch für Stadtmenschen deutlich zu viel, da sie in fast jeder Ecke waren.

The breakfast was outstanding. The garden is amazing. You really need to see it to believe it. The way sue has decorated the house is just beautiful. Everything you could think of has been thought of. I would describe the house as extremely homely relaxing and interesting. Thank you Sue for your thoughtfulness. This house is amazing!! There was only the two of us staying in the three bedroom house so obviously there was more room than we needed. A family would love it here. If you are looking at any cabins in the area that might look a bit cheaper, stop, and book this one. It really is very, very good value for money. We spent two weeks on the north island of NZ with a mix of B&Bs, cabins, a motel and this was the highlight of our accommodation experience. It is just beautiful!

If I had to say anything, it would only be that I don't personally like air fresheners of any variety so I have to collect them and put them outside while I'm staying anywhere. (That's not much to complain about😅).

The house was very comfortable and well equipped. The artwork was amazing. Would we stay again? Definitely.

The Amber's is in a great location. Not far to town, and coast right there. Really quiet! Beautiful selections for breakfast to appeal to all tastes! The decor for the house is absolutely amazing!! Beautiful! Plus, everything you could possibly need is provided.

This is one of those places you want to rave about - but really want to keep all to yourself! It is immaculate, generously provisioned, beautifully styled, quiet and comfortable. Amazing artwork. The house plants and gardens are beautiful. Easy drive to Thames, short walk to the beach.

Above and beyond expectations. A very rare find where the property looked more impressive in-person than in the photos! We’ve been travelling in Aotearoa for a few weeks and this has been by far the best accommodation we’ve had. Everything you could possibly need facilities-wise was there, in a large house, set in a beautiful and immaculate garden. The house was also cleaned spotless. The breakfast spread was exceptional. Cereals, bread, condiments, yoghurts, with plant-based and dairy options too. We had a car so the location is absolutely ideal for exploring the Coromandel Peninsula and other nearby sites like Karangahake Gorge and the shorebird centre. Just brilliant. Cannot recommend this place enough. Thank you!

Sue & Russell are amazing giving loving people. They go above and beyond. The Ambers is a home not a house everything is at your fingertips. The breakfast options are absolutely 💯 perfect catering for dietary requirements. This was our second stay within 3 months travelling with our elderly mother from Australia. The heart & care for there beautiful gardens shows with the bird life that come to visit. Sue has a brilliant little shop next door called the Gatherings that she opened up for us to have a look. The house was immaculate and included some very kind and thoughtful touches - breakfast foods, fresh flowers and lovely bathroom/kitchen products. The space was well appointed and beds were very comfortable.

This property was absolutely 💯 perfect in every way, the owners who live next door so very kind. Concerned as we arrived late with our elderly mother and turned heaters / lights on for our arrival after long a long international travel. Very private amazing gardens and facilities. Every one MUST stay here, we didn't want to leave. OMG the breakfast, caters for all dietary requirements. I was sending pics to all our family members at home even did a video. This is a home that cares for the environment, I nearly cried with excitement when I saw recycled hand made washable make up wipes. We are going to travel back just to say at the Ambers Thank you Sue

My family felt blessed to be able stay in such a beautiful holiday home. Everything was supplied (in abundance), the house had a wonderful ambiance and was extremely comfortable and relaxing.

Location was great and they supplied everything you could want for breakfast.

The host is lovely the cottage was nice and warm on our arrival.Well stocked pantry and kitchen cupboards and fridge.wouldn’t stay anywhere else if going to Thames.will definitely stay again 🥰😊

The Hosts had supplied us with all the breakfast items that we needed, in fact there were more than enough choices for a very healthy breakfast.

There was absolutely nothing that we disliked about "THE AMBERS"

The whole stay was outstanding, there was not one thing that could be faulted, I would100% recommend this property without hesitation . Spotlessly clean and delightfully decorated. A great breakfast selection, really impressed with the gluten free options also on offer. Will be back.

There was absolutely nothing not to like.

Home from home, everything we could have wanted was provided. Attention to detail, lovely touches such as flowers from the garden, very pretty deco and garden magnificent.

Excellent place to stay in Thames: great unit; 3 bedrooms, lovely living room and kitchen with all amenities needed for a longer stay. Lovely owners who stay next door. Quiet and peaceful, lots of privacy. Enough food in the cupboard to make some great breakfasts. Great shower. Spotless clean. Nice deck while not providing sea view still amazing view over the mountains and a quiet residential area. Excellent place to stay for group of friends or family to recharge from busy work or the busy city life. Would definitely stay here again

Beautiful inside and out. Incredibly decorated and outfitted with all the comforts you could ask for. We were slightly worried when we saw it was out of town, so no morning cafe, but hosts had everything you would ever want to eat. From fresh eggs and croissants and jam to French press coffee and a tea assortment, with fresh milk. And the gardens were spectacular. Each drawer in each room was filled with treasure. And the decorations filled the wall with surprises.

Thames is a sleepy little town, and although there are places to see from there, it lacks a lot of character

This is such a gorgeous home. Every room has its own theme and the decorations are just lovely. The breakfast that was available to us was aweome. Toast, croissants, 3 different jams, yoghurt, frozen berries, some other cereals, plunger coffee, sachet coffees, hot chocolate, tea, milk, what more could we ask for! We had such a great stay! Thank you.

The hosts went above and beyond to make our stay a very enjoyable one. The house was located in a peaceful neighbourhood. It was warm, homely and beautifully decorated, and the beds were very comfortable. The breakfast was fantastic with several extra treats included and a gluten free request was kindly accommodated.

Amazing choices for breakfast with every option covered and many extras.. Absolutely incredible choices with xtra touches ie decorative jars etc for condiments.

This property is absolutely beautiful. How it has been decorated and the little home comforts provided are exceptional. It is kiwiana meets the hamptons, love love loved the beauty and care put into this property.

I think it is more what my hosts didn't like, I didn't realise my kids weren't allowed - so sorry! However I think the hosts were gracious and allowed my kids to stay and them catch up with friends from Thames - big apologies on my part. My boys and I are currently going through my 23 year old son having a car crash and a traumatic brain injury, We found him after missing for 40 hours. I apologise that I didn't get kids weren't allowed and I really appreciate you let us stay. Thank you and so sorry - I would say amazing hosts

A beautiful home, well equipped with everything you'd need, and beautifully decorated. We made good use of the nice large covered deck and outside furniture, and the beds and pillows were lovely and comfortable. The garden's lovely too, and lots of little touches made it a special place to stay, while still feeling warm and inviting. The hosts were friendly, while not the least bit invasive and the breakfast and other things provided were outstanding. Totally recommend and be happy to return . Waterfront is only a few minutes walk away, and the home is on a nice quiet street, and it was a perfectly peaceful place to be. We had a lovely time with 3 generations of adults together for the weekend.

Very comfortable, clean and fresh. a charming place to stay with plenty of space for three people.

We were delighted with our three night stay at Ambers. The house was very well appointed, beautifully decorated with lovely soft furnishings. The veranda was perfect to catch the evening sun. The garden was in great shape with mown lawns, flowering shrubs and fruit trees. The lemon tree was laden and the Jasmine fragrant. Parking off road just beneath the veranda. Our hosts kindly left a great breakfast selection and the kitchen was well stocked. They have the house next door but sadly were unwell during our stay and let us know would be keeping a low profile - but we met them briefly on our last morning. This was an oustanding place to stay in a quiet neighbourhood a short distance north of Thames and a few hundred yards from the sea.

Fabulous house with every added extra you could imagine. Beautiful bed linen, art work, fresh flowers from the garden. The breakfast supplied...bread,croissants, strawberries, blueberries, yogurt eggs, butter,milk, cereal..(.several choices), tea coffee, salt/pepper. Sue and Russell the owners live next door, with a great garden and a wee shop with fab gifts....they opened it up for us and us 4 ladies had a fine shop up prior to Christmas. Highly recommend staying in this charming house.

well placed close to Thames & a very quiet street! we could easily access all of the Coromandel by car & also take a leisurely stroll to the foreshore to watch the sunset. we would both recommend & also book this house again.
