Reviewed Feb 21, 2025It was nice and quiet. Within walking distance to the shop and bistro. Blue cod and chips were the best. Kerry and Jo were waiting to greet us and show us the house.
Couldn’t use the air conditioner because it was leaking. I contacted the owner and he was going to get it fixed.

Reviewed Jan 3, 2025Tui Cottage exceeded our expectations. The cottage was lovely and warm, comfortable and exceptionally clean. There were so many New Zealand birds in the back garden! I have never neen so many Tui at once. It was amazing. The owners Kerry & Jo were so helpful and friendly, offering us a tremendous amount of knowledge about the area, and things to do near by. The beds were comfortable, the shower had good pressure, the oven had a gas cooker. We would most definitely stay here again. Thank you Kerry & Jo.

Reviewed Jan 1, 2025Everything was delightful. The house is actually bigger than it seems from the photos. The sun hits the kitchen and warms the whole house pretty much. Feels very nice. The kitchen has everything to cook in, but there are also restaurants nearby and a good supermarket just around the corner. We found the best lamb sausages there... :) The rooms are good size, beds comfortable and shower with great pressure. A lovely place to stay long-term. It is within walking distance from the beach and a short drive from Katiki Point Lighthouse, where you can watch the seals. The internet was great for work. We would love to return and see the birds in the backyard. The hosts were very welcoming and took the time to come over to hand us the keys. Definitely, one of the best places we stayed in NZ.

Wish we could have stayed longer! We were warned about the possibility of sirens from the fire station across from the cottage, but there were no sirens or noise for the duration of our stay.

Felt like I was coming home. Even a few yummy chocolate bars in the fridge, which really made me sleep like a child on holidays.

Reviewed Jan 15, 2024I loved meeting Jo at the house so she could tell us all about the property and how well situated it was to the local stores etc. The house itself was impeccable! The beds were super comfy and sheets were soooo soft!! It felt like home and I only wish now we had been staying for longer!

Jo is a wonderful host who provided us with high & low tides so we could walk along the beach to Moeraki Boulders. A great base to stay and explore the area. Tavern across the road & well stocked supermarket next door to motel. Highly recommend. Will definitely stay again. Thanks so much for our time in Hampden.

The community's monthly newsletter not only extended a warm welcome to new friends but also paid tribute to the cherished old neighbors: penguins, seals, and a variety of birds. It was a place filled with love, and I even had the pleasure of getting acquainted with a unique New Zealand bird called Tui. What a special experience! The cottage is equipped with all the amenities one could wish for, and it was impeccably clean. It's evident that you pay great attention to every detail. What made my stay truly unforgettable was Kerry and Jo. Their extraordinary warmth and hospitality are unmatched. This has been by far the best value and most comfortable accommodation I've experienced in New Zealand. It truly feels like a home away from home. Thank you for creating such wonderful memories for me
