Reviewed Aug 4, 2026No recomiendo. Lo más grave fue un problema eléctrico que sufrimos durante la madrugada: estuvimos casi dos horas sin luz, con la consecuente presencia de mosquitos al no poder usar ventilador ni aire acondicionado. Además, la electricidad era intermitente —se iba y volvía repetidamente sin mantenerse estable—, y cada corte y reconexión nos despertaba por el ruido que generaba. Esto convirtió la noche en una experiencia muy incómoda y nos impidió descansar con normalidad. A esto se suma que la relación calidad-precio no fue adecuada. No se nos informó de forma proactiva sobre la posibilidad de estar exentos del IVA; tuve que solicitarlo yo misma para que se aplicara. También se me extravió una bolsa con objetos de escaso valor. Pregunté por ella y nunca obtuve respuesta, lo cual genera dudas sobre cómo se gestionan las pertenencias de los huéspedes. Por otro lado, la zona de la piscina no estaba bien mantenida: había restos de limones y desechos, como de cócteles, tirados alrededor. Por último, el descanso general se vio afectado por la ubicación del hotel, junto a una iglesia y un colegio, por lo que se escuchaba constantemente el ruido de las campanas y de la calle.

Reviewed Apr 16, 2026We were 3 friends visiting Barichara for the first time. We stayed for two nights at the Santa Sofia Case Boutique Hotel which served as a wonderful, tranquil base for us to explore the town and the area. Location was well situated a mere one block from the beautiful main town square, and from the terrace and dining area there were great views of the church. Rooms were comfortable and well laid out, and mere metres from the swimming pool, jacuzzi, lobby and dining area. There was a well stocked fridge with a range of beverages in the common area available to sign out 24/7. Breakfasts were wholesome and tasty with coffee, juice, fresh fruit and choice of eggs. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Check in and check out was seamless. Parking was available in a gated enclosed space mere metres from the main entrance.
Only small issue was showers were luke warm and not hot, but this was more than made up for by all the other positives. We would definitely stay there again.

Reviewed Nov 5, 2025Yo revisé varios hoteles antes de tomar la decisión y Santa Sofía estaba mejor evaluado que otros de su categoría y además sus fotos se veían muy bien. Quiero decirles que el hotel es aún mas lindo de lo que se ve y todo fue genial. Las instalaciones son impecables, los baños son hermosos y me encantó que cada detalle está pensado para la comodidad del huesped. También su ubicación me pareció perfecta y cerca a todo. Recomendadisimo!

Reviewed Sep 28, 2025Het dorp Barichara is heel erg mooi en authentiek. Prachtige wandeling in de buurt . Het uitzicht vanaf het zwembad op de kerk was werkelijk schitterend ! Vooral in de avond als de kerk verlicht is . De kamer was lekker luxe , met een heerlijk bed en grote badkamer . Zeer behulpzaam en lief hotel personeel.

Great attention to details around the hotel, which makes a real joy to be in your room, or explore the installations and sit in one of the different living rooms while reading an old coffee table book, or observing antique decorative elements and paintings. Impressive panoramic view of the mountains, Barichara cathedral, and Spanish colonial-style tile roofed white houses.

Reviewed Apr 12, 2025Fantastic hotel! Our first night there was one other family in the hotel. The second night we were the only ones! The photos online are very accurate. Staff were very friendly and had lots of recommendations for restaurants for us. The hotel is a one minute walk to the town center. The only slight negative, which the hotel cannot control, were the church bells ringing from the nearby church, EVERY HOUR. Other than that, highly recommend.

Only small thing is that the rooms are not sound proof at all, so you can pretty much hear everything going on. But it didn’t bother too much.

The room is fully equipped with AC, fan, fast Wi-Fi, a separate office space with a desk and even a walk-in closet perfect for long stays. The location is great, in a very cute street and close to all the sites to visit. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was delicious.
